We were on holiday in Bristol and check trip advisor for restaurants near our hotel. This was a fabulous find, so unassuming from outside and don’t be put off by the position in the main road by the station. Great food, fantastic, friendly, knowledgeable service and good atmosphere.

Had such a great experience. The service was friendly and faultless. The pasta dishes we chose were fantastic and really good serving sizes. You definitely won't leave hungry. Look forward to returning again.

This hidden gem has easy parking so don’t be fooled by the location. The restaurant has been there for 40 years so it has been doing things right for a long time! We visit a lot of restaurants and the food and the size of the portion sizes are out of the world. The service was amazing and the waitress gave some great recommendations. We visited this restaurant early in the evening. They opened at 5pm, we were seated around 5:15pm. They had a good selection of specials on the board, however we were told some dishes were sold out (?) The food we ordered was excellent. The portion of olives was large enough to share and was beautifully seasoned. The main dishes were tasty and side salads were phenomenal. Service was a little lacking - staff were attentive but not particularly friendly.

Was staying in Bristol for the night on the way to Cornwall. We looked for local restaurants and found this one. Great place to eat, very good food and friendly service.

Wasn’t expecting this to be so good, especially not next to the road but is the perfect place when your train has been cancelled or delayed to have some dinner. Fantastic service, incredible food and lovely portions.

I was visiting my son who lives in Bristol, staying at the Holiday Inn Express nearby. I had my 2 little Yorkshire terriers too. We were warmly welcomed inside, it was damp outside. We sat in a corner, although the venue was quiet. We both had pizzas. I'd been thinking of getting a stone baked pizza all day. The pizzas were delicious. But I struggled to finish so son took it to his place.

Absolutely brilliant Italian restaurant in Bristol. My family visited for my father's 75th Birthday meal. They made us all feel very welcome and provided us all with so much care and service, especially for my father. The food was all delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed it all. Great location near the train station and to the city. Will definitely be back again next time we are visiting Bristol. Thank you very much for taking care of us all.

Building does not impress, but trusted the reviews an it was local. Inside is better, nice and simple. Food arrives, it's clearly made with love and attention to detail. Really tasty. Will be back.

Lovely place with an amazing service and great food! The waitress was super nice and the food was delicious. Had the pizza cappricosa and my girlfriend had the carbonara, both delicious! The average price per person is 20£ (Main course + drink)

Stuck in Bristol after a long day travelling I stopped into Don Giovanni's on the advice of the receptionist at the hotel front desk. It was a good tip, as the service was stellar, and the food delicious and wholesome. Genuine Italian fare. I had the arancini starter, the carbonara main and a desert. All delicious and filling. The restaurant was quiet and clean with comfortable, homey decor. Can really recommend.

Great starter and chose the filetto and dolce latte and bread pudding for dessert absolutely delicious enjoyed very much

We loved the food, drinks and service. The room is comfortable and not too noisy even when full. 4 different meals including a vegan and vegetarian and all diners were very happy. We’ll definitely come back soon. Thank you for a lovely evening!

Always a pleasure to eat at Don Giovanni's. Food delicious as always, you must try the giant freshwater prawns tossed in linguine! Washed down with a bottle of Nero d'Avola, perfect! The service is fantastic as always. Will be back very soon.

Had Lasagne here, was without a doubt the best I've ever had, staff were friendly and prompt, lovely meal.

The exterior, and location (opposite Temple Meads station), does not do justice to what you will experience inside. We have had many meals over the years, and in many countries, but the food is up there with the very best we have ever had, the staff (both front of house and chefs) are brilliant, and the value for money for quality of the food is difficult to get your head around. A gem of a place.

Tried this place for the first time at the weekend and couldn’t fault it. Fantastic food, great service and a lovely feel inside. Good to see the place so busy throughout an evening. We look forward to coming back. I have to add - the 1 star review from Crystal Bella'...........I think THAT is the bot trying to sabotage a wonderful local business!!!

My partner brought me here for my birthday as it had high TripAdvisor ratings. The food was absolutely disgusting not authentic by any means, no salt, everything tasted either bland or sugary, the atmosphere awful, just a loud mess - felt as though we were in a rowdy club at times. The waitress was sarcastic and rude and didn't accept my complaints - I never usually complain but this was an insult to Italian food. I mentioned the lack of seasoning and she said you need to ask for salt and pepper. Pepper of which we were offered and asked for but no salt on/in anything... Really? Is that not one of the most basic seasonings any food should have at least a pinch of? It was just like an episode of kitchen nightmares, except it doesn't get any better. Would not recommend, worst food I've ever had, avoid at all costs. The positive reviews must be from bots, drunk people or people who don't know what Italian food is or what it should taste like. I feel sick after eating this, hopefully it's not poisonous as well...

Really nice place to celebrate special occasions or just come for delicious meal. We went there to celebrate anniversary as we read and heard really good reviews about this place. And it was honestly one of the best Italian restaurants I have tried so far. The food portions was very generous and really delicious starter main and dessert was just out of this world. I had tuna steak and my BF had seafood pasta. We had meat platter for starter and for desert we had tiramisu (my favourite dessert). We also had bottle of white wine to go with our meal. Prices was a bit higher, but the it definitely was worth it, there is also service charge. But overall very pleasant experience with chilled and slightly romantic vibe.

Treated myself as a single diner before a long train journey back to Cornwall. Delicious food and lovely attentive service. Banging Tiramisu, my all time fave dessert!

Amazing tasty food and able to accommodate gluten free.

I popped in here as a single dinner on a Thursday night. It was very busy but I managed to get one of the last tables. Lovely atmosphere and the benefit of the open kitchen meant the whole restaurant smelt divine. I had a pint of draught beer, a pizza and side salad. All 3 were lovely. All the staff were lovely and the bill was very reasonable. I don’t have an issue with the added service charge. I would definitely recommend.

Amazing find for a party of 8 friends catch up for the weekend in Bristol. We were made welcome and looked after so well with plenty of smiles. Food was cooked fresh and flavoursome - a credit to the long serving chef! Had best dessert ever - profiteroles fill with vanilla ice cream with a job of melted hot chocolate - yummy!! So pleased we got a meal here before it closed but so sad that it is closing.

We might have missed it without the recommendation, which would have been a shame. We just had pizzas, but they were thin crispy and had plenty of toppings and great flavors. When we explained we were in a bit of a rush, they were quick and helpful, and we had a lovely meal

Meeting friends off the train this is a great little place to eat, would particularly recommend the swordfish ... a really good meal with attentive staff.

I've been going here for about 15 years and it's consistently great. They make the best lasagne I've ever had! All their food is fantastic and the staff are always super friendly and helpful. It's by far my favourite Italian restaurant in Bristol and the fact that it's been going for so long means it's doing plenty right!!

Had an amazing meal with the family at don giovanni. my daughter had the swordfish steak which was so tender it fell apart. the steaks were tender and cooked to perfection. i had the pizza which was amazing! amazing service, quality food, you cant go wrong. bristol’s best.

For her main my wife had the seafood risotto which was served with very fresh and tasty mussels, topped by a large prawn. To finish we had the raspberry crème brûlée - a fabulous combination of flavours in a glass. And the bill for this excellent meal was very reasonable. It’s a big thumbs up from us- DG!!

Brilliant food, brilliant atmosphere and and even better staff. Hands down the best and ONLY Italian that i will go to in Bristol. They made me feel welcome at arrival and throughout the whole meal.

I would not recommend this restaurant as the pizza was so tough you need a chainsaw to cut it the olive tested as if he has gone off so I will not be returning to the restaurant again

Wonderful Italian restaurant. Been going here over the course of the past 20years. Beautiful food and service.

Rude. Went there a couple of times, ordered the truffle fries. It's just fries with some cheese. Last time we had more truffle on it. I simply asked if this is what we ordered. The guy with glasses said, "Have you ever had truffle?" So rude. I got the feeling that they were racist to us. Nice food, though, but that was a really bad move and gave us a bad experience. Still rude and no apologies either. You guys are rude. Yes, I can see there are multiple cultures, but the way you treat us is bad. If you were us and were asked, "Have you had wine before?" how would you feel? The customer service is bad. I feel bad for the owner. Learn to put yourself in other people's shoes. Yes, sure, fries with the smell of truffle? 🙄 Your reply still implies that I don't know what truffle is, as well as not accepting your own fault.

Our first time at this restaurant for dinner and cannot fault it. Our waitress was super efficient and allowed us to tailor our meals exactly how we wanted them. The atmosphere was lovely and the food and drinks were superb. Our new favourite restaurant

Genuine Italian eatery with wide-ranging menu. Starters were delicious. The large prawns with garlic were succulent and the bruschetta was really tasty. Portion sizes were large. Main courses also excellent. Rigatoni napoletana was perfectly cooked, chicken in mushroom sauce was delicious as was chicken Kiev. All made in house. Our waiter was very efficient and we were served attentively and courteously. Toilets were perfectly clean too.

Good food, but they put a 10% 'service' charge on your bill, without telling you in advance. Got me a little baffled so i payed it😚

A delightful restaurant close to Temple Meads station. This is a gem! The decor looks nothing very special from outside but the staff are outstanding and the food is absolutely delicious! We had had a day of walking round Bristol and arrived a few minutes before opening but as soon as they saw us they opened the door and welcomed us in. The menu is extensive and all types of food is served. We had the specials. The king prawns were Enormous and very meaty. The dusk was beautifully cooked and the mushroom parpadelle exquisite! Service was excellent- attentive but not rushed and the cost was very reasonable. Can’t recommend this restaurant highly enough. Thank you for a wonderful meal

Pretty decent but nothing to shout about. Expensive for what it is. Food is tasty and the service was really good considering how busy they were for match day. Good little little spot just off the main circuit if your looking for relatively quick food before a game.

The group of us popped in the the restaurant early Saturday evening, got a lovely table for four at the window. The food was wonderful, the only minor complaint was that my partners Tagliatelle Giardiniera was too large! Should have asked for a half portion! Starter's and drinks all promptly served, a shout out to Jerome for attentive service and menu knowledge.

This restaurant reminds of the places I would go with my dad, it has nostalgic feel to it & I love that. Food is great, protions are generous! It is nice for an intimate dinner with a partner or for group get together.

Excellent Birthday dinner. Service was excellent and the food was to die for. I had the jumbo fresh water prawns with linguine and it was exceptional. My daughter had pasta, my husband had lasagne and my mother had the chicken with porcini mushrooms. All said their food was fantastic. Beautifully presented and generous portions Far far superior to San Carlo with super friendly service. Will definitely return and would very highly recommend.

My family and I had a lovely dinner here on Saturday evening - all the dishes were so tasty & the service was incredible. The staff went to an extra effort to pronounce our Indian names carefully & correctly, and to ask for our preferences in terms of spiciness for certain dishes. Highly recommend!

food was a bit hit and miss, the positives are the steak was nice, ordered rare but it came out medium rare, peppercorn and mushroom sauce was good. pizza was ok, it's not comparable to an authentic Italian pizza in anyway, but equally isn't bad. the pastas i have to say were disappointing, we got seafood pasta and the special sausage pasta. seafood pasta was ok, both were rather large portions. sausage pasta we couldn't even eat, the sausages were super dry. Staff were nice though, polite and fast.

What a gem just outside of the city centre. Starters of Calamari Fritti and Calamari Piccante were really tasty. Mains of Griddled swordfish steak and the Prime fillet served on a crostino, crowned with pate and Maderia and mushroom sauce were both excellent and generous portions. Too full to sample the sweets! The only slight niggle is that the website menu does not include prices; although the charges are very reasonable for the quality and quantity. Also, no online booking facility. Definitely worth another visit.

On a visit to Bristol we looked for an Italian that was perhaps a bit more relaxed and without tables being packed in. Don Giovannis is just that. It’s away from the main shopping areas but close enough to the centre to walk to. Waitresses were polite and helpful, good specials board & good menu. Prices were on and portions were good. Personally i don’t like restaurants that have tables that are on top of each other and Don Giovannis is perfect for that. It’s no frills decor is not a problem when the food is good
