Lovely intimate restaurant, fantastic service. Good menu although need to find another bread to use other than panini(bruscheta, garlic bread etc). Had a few drinks so bill was top heavy!

Lovely traditional family run Italian. Food and wine excellent, service first-class and great location 5 mins walk from Temple Meads Station. Try the giant freshwater king prawns tossed in linguine...mouthwatering! Probably my favourite Italian restaurant in the southwest, if not the UK!

Go here, you won't regret it. Looking at the reviews, it appears quite a few people that visit this brilliant restaurant are not from Bristol, I am. Odd thing is I haven't eaten here in about 40 years. I can be forgiven as I have lived overseas for 30 plus years, but here's the great thing. Over 40 years since opening, they have not just survived which is more than can be said for a lot of other good Bristol eating establishments, but they have maintained the highest quality of food and service. It was only Tuesday when I went, but the place was packed and I am pretty sure if I hadn't reserved, I might not have gotten a table. Food quality is not only about great taste and options, it's also about consistency, portion sizes, taste expectations and personal preference options are all taking into account, I am not sure that many locals read reviews here as it would not exactly be a 'trip', but the (once younger) owner Andy, assured me that the locals still know how good it is too. Bristol has changed massively over the years, it's very relieving that some great places have retained the character that it deserves. I'll definitely be back, lets hope before the golden anniversary! PS when will that be?

Went for a Xmas family meal, read the reviews and decided to book and we weren't disappointed it was a lovely meal and thoroughly enjoyed by all of us 😊 will definitely be going again

Don’t listen to the hysterical lady (Rebecca) below! This place is a gem of a find. We were expecting sub par food with it being so close to the station but were blown away by the friendly staff, fresh ingredients and beautiful food. The swordfish steak was the MOST tender meat I have ever eaten. It was beautifully cooked and fell of the bone. I rarely finish my plate but I did here! The pasta was fresh and there was a very authentic Italian flavour to everything. The bruschetta was sublime. The chef and his team are doing a superb job and I would be delighted to come back to this restaurant. Bravo!

I cannot recommend the swordfish highly enough. It was melt in your mouth and cooked to perfection. What a top chef! Great staff on hand too who were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Would go back again soon!

The "Manager" who would not give his name, but later said he OWNED the restaurant, has no idea of the law surrounding Medical Assistance Service Dogs. He was very aggressive to me in a nearly empty restraunt at 5:15pm, insisting on re-seating me to his pet friendly back corner of restaurant. I explained my dog was a registered Assistance Dog Sevice Dog (she was also wearing clearly destinguishable paraphernalia) and should be allowed to sit anywhere I could sit. He simply continued to shout at me and refused to let me speak. Bearing in mind, the staff member who seated me initially, was made aware that I needed a table for two and that my service dog was also joining me. (I had been dropped at the door, so that I didnt need to bring my wheelchair.) She said had recalled my Service Dog from a previous visit and remarked how well behaved they were. Customer service is perhaps as important as a restaurant's food. This man showed very unpleasant character and I found him extremely harrassing. He took no consideration of my medical condition, which happens to be heart and mobility related. I was tired and just wanted to enjoy a quiet, nice meal before the restaurant was busy. Needless to say, we did not stay. Instead, this highly charged experience made me feel quite unwell, he may have had an off day, but he certainly made mine far more challenging and unpleasant than it needed to be. The law is clear, he was out of line. I can only hope if anyone else has an issue, that they do not receive this sort of abusive treatment. Rebecca

We had to wait a lot to be seated, and when we were in our table upstairs and we were ready to order they told us they confused our table and we had to move down, we were 5 people. It looked they had a previous problem before with some customers that they were constantly coming in and out the restaurant, that is very tiny. Food was okay.

El lugar estaba lleno, la razón es realmente Itnis. El personal es muy atento, las opciones y la calidad de la comida es excelente. Recomiendo encarecidamente pero para garantizar su lugar en la mesa trataría de reservar con antelación.

Twelve of us ate here tonight for a family reunion. Excellent food and service. Highly recommended. To amplify those first thoughts we first visited here about a year ago en route from Temple Meads Station to the Airport. It is in an ideal location for this, even if the outside appearance and adjacent buildings may not give a welcoming appearance. Do not be put off! There is a warm welcome and excellent food, as borne out yesterday evening. As there were twelve of us we had been asked to reorder, which we did, and all meals came out with no delays - an organisational triumph! So, as mentioned right at the top, an excellent evening and a restaurant that is thoroughly recommended.

Fantastic experience all round, food was excellent, extremely knowledgeable and helpful staff and a nice atmosphere to enjoy your meal in.

Don’t usually leave reviews as I just simply don’t have the time and if I am not completely satisfied with the service I just simply won’t return BUT I was completely and utterly disappointed with the food & service. We had four different starters which were ok and four different mains . I ordered canelloni and what I received was a hot plate of over cooked minced meat topped with cheese. I approached one of the waiters to double check if perhaps they had got my order wrong and he was quick to fob me off 👍🏾 so yes WOULD NOT recommend

This place has been our number one favourite in Bristol! We have loved this place ever since we discovered it almost 10 years ago and we can never stop coming back! We especially love coming here for special occasions! The atmosphere is wonderful, the staff are also so kind and accomodating- Jerome in particular continually provides us with excellent service. As soon as we enter the restaurant Jerome and the rest of the staff never fail to make us feel welcome! The food is authentic and well presented, the King Prawn Linguine in particular is our family favourite! Each time we dine at Don Giovanni its always a memorable experience!

Booked in advance and found this gem of an Italian restaurant. Food was really good and a very good choice, including the special board. My wife had the Stroganoff and I am kicking myself for not joining her. Great service and the wine was really good. If I am back in Bristol will definitely go again.

We were on holiday in Bristol and check trip advisor for restaurants near our hotel. This was a fabulous find, so unassuming from outside and don’t be put off by the position in the main road by the station. Great food, fantastic, friendly, knowledgeable service and good atmosphere.

This hidden gem has easy parking so don’t be fooled by the location. The restaurant has been there for 40 years so it has been doing things right for a long time! We visit a lot of restaurants and the food and the size of the portion sizes are out of the world. The service was amazing and the waitress gave some great recommendations. We visited this restaurant early in the evening. They opened at 5pm, we were seated around 5:15pm. They had a good selection of specials on the board, however we were told some dishes were sold out (?) The food we ordered was excellent. The portion of olives was large enough to share and was beautifully seasoned. The main dishes were tasty and side salads were phenomenal. Service was a little lacking - staff were attentive but not particularly friendly.

Was staying in Bristol for the night on the way to Cornwall. We looked for local restaurants and found this one. Great place to eat, very good food and friendly service.

I was visiting my son who lives in Bristol, staying at the Holiday Inn Express nearby. I had my 2 little Yorkshire terriers too. We were warmly welcomed inside, it was damp outside. We sat in a corner, although the venue was quiet. We both had pizzas. I'd been thinking of getting a stone baked pizza all day. The pizzas were delicious. But I struggled to finish so son took it to his place.

Absolutely brilliant Italian restaurant in Bristol. My family visited for my father's 75th Birthday meal. They made us all feel very welcome and provided us all with so much care and service, especially for my father. The food was all delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed it all. Great location near the train station and to the city. Will definitely be back again next time we are visiting Bristol. Thank you very much for taking care of us all.

Lovely place with an amazing service and great food! The waitress was super nice and the food was delicious. Had the pizza cappricosa and my girlfriend had the carbonara, both delicious! The average price per person is 20£ (Main course + drink)

Stuck in Bristol after a long day travelling I stopped into Don Giovanni's on the advice of the receptionist at the hotel front desk. It was a good tip, as the service was stellar, and the food delicious and wholesome. Genuine Italian fare. I had the arancini starter, the carbonara main and a desert. All delicious and filling. The restaurant was quiet and clean with comfortable, homey decor. Can really recommend.

Had Lasagne here, was without a doubt the best I've ever had, staff were friendly and prompt, lovely meal.

The exterior, and location (opposite Temple Meads station), does not do justice to what you will experience inside. We have had many meals over the years, and in many countries, but the food is up there with the very best we have ever had, the staff (both front of house and chefs) are brilliant, and the value for money for quality of the food is difficult to get your head around. A gem of a place.

My partner brought me here for my birthday as it had high TripAdvisor ratings. The food was absolutely disgusting not authentic by any means, no salt, everything tasted either bland or sugary, the atmosphere awful, just a loud mess - felt as though we were in a rowdy club at times. The waitress was sarcastic and rude and didn't accept my complaints - I never usually complain but this was an insult to Italian food. I mentioned the lack of seasoning and she said you need to ask for salt and pepper. Pepper of which we were offered and asked for but no salt on/in anything... Really? Is that not one of the most basic seasonings any food should have at least a pinch of? It was just like an episode of kitchen nightmares, except it doesn't get any better. Would not recommend, worst food I've ever had, avoid at all costs. The positive reviews must be from bots, drunk people or people who don't know what Italian food is or what it should taste like. I feel sick after eating this, hopefully it's not poisonous as well...

Really nice place to celebrate special occasions or just come for delicious meal. We went there to celebrate anniversary as we read and heard really good reviews about this place. And it was honestly one of the best Italian restaurants I have tried so far. The food portions was very generous and really delicious starter main and dessert was just out of this world. I had tuna steak and my BF had seafood pasta. We had meat platter for starter and for desert we had tiramisu (my favourite dessert). We also had bottle of white wine to go with our meal. Prices was a bit higher, but the it definitely was worth it, there is also service charge. But overall very pleasant experience with chilled and slightly romantic vibe.

Treated myself as a single diner before a long train journey back to Cornwall. Delicious food and lovely attentive service. Banging Tiramisu, my all time fave dessert!

I popped in here as a single dinner on a Thursday night. It was very busy but I managed to get one of the last tables. Lovely atmosphere and the benefit of the open kitchen meant the whole restaurant smelt divine. I had a pint of draught beer, a pizza and side salad. All 3 were lovely. All the staff were lovely and the bill was very reasonable. I don’t have an issue with the added service charge. I would definitely recommend.

Amazing find for a party of 8 friends catch up for the weekend in Bristol. We were made welcome and looked after so well with plenty of smiles. Food was cooked fresh and flavoursome - a credit to the long serving chef! Had best dessert ever - profiteroles fill with vanilla ice cream with a job of melted hot chocolate - yummy!! So pleased we got a meal here before it closed but so sad that it is closing.

We might have missed it without the recommendation, which would have been a shame. We just had pizzas, but they were thin crispy and had plenty of toppings and great flavors. When we explained we were in a bit of a rush, they were quick and helpful, and we had a lovely meal

Meeting friends off the train this is a great little place to eat, would particularly recommend the swordfish ... a really good meal with attentive staff.

I've been going here for about 15 years and it's consistently great. They make the best lasagne I've ever had! All their food is fantastic and the staff are always super friendly and helpful. It's by far my favourite Italian restaurant in Bristol and the fact that it's been going for so long means it's doing plenty right!!

Had an amazing meal with the family at don giovanni. my daughter had the swordfish steak which was so tender it fell apart. the steaks were tender and cooked to perfection. i had the pizza which was amazing! amazing service, quality food, you cant go wrong. bristol’s best.

Brilliant food, brilliant atmosphere and and even better staff. Hands down the best and ONLY Italian that i will go to in Bristol. They made me feel welcome at arrival and throughout the whole meal.

I would not recommend this restaurant as the pizza was so tough you need a chainsaw to cut it the olive tested as if he has gone off so I will not be returning to the restaurant again

Wonderful Italian restaurant. Been going here over the course of the past 20years. Beautiful food and service.

Rude. Went there a couple of times, ordered the truffle fries. It's just fries with some cheese. Last time we had more truffle on it. I simply asked if this is what we ordered. The guy with glasses said, "Have you ever had truffle?" So rude. I got the feeling that they were racist to us. Nice food, though, but that was a really bad move and gave us a bad experience. Still rude and no apologies either. You guys are rude. Yes, I can see there are multiple cultures, but the way you treat us is bad. If you were us and were asked, "Have you had wine before?" how would you feel? The customer service is bad. I feel bad for the owner. Learn to put yourself in other people's shoes. Yes, sure, fries with the smell of truffle? 🙄 Your reply still implies that I don't know what truffle is, as well as not accepting your own fault.
