Da Mario in Bournemouth

Felt rushed and forgotten about. Came here with my partner on a Saturday for an evening meal. Arrived around 5:50ish and asked for a table of 2 (didn't book but did look online and there was no way to book online nor did it say we had to phone up to book) Were given a table for 2 but were told they would need the table back at 7. Absolutely fine. Went to order food and saw on the menu that they only accept cash (again doesn't clearly state on the website that this is the case) but were informed by the waitress that there was a cash point next door. Ordered 2 pizzas and 2 drinks. Food came out very promptly but our drinks were forgotten about (only 2 cans of soft drink as they don't sell alcohol) so had to ask for them again. Pizzas were tasty but not warm all the way through (they seemed as though they had been rushed as to get us out the restaurant). Would of told a waitress but we weren't asked how our food was. The main downside of the evening was a very loud and obnoxious table behind us of over 10 people who were all talking and screeching during the meal who not only disturbed us but also the table next to us who also were commenting on how loud they are. I couldn't even hear my partner who was leaning over the table talking to me. I know this isn't they restaurants fault at all but the space inside is very tiny for such a large table. Overall it was an okay visit with decent food but unsure if we would visit again as the whole visit felt rushed. We were out the door by 6:30. Which is a real shame as had read so many amazing reviews of this place. Perhaps it was just a bad day for them idk.

Small familiar place. The best pizzas in the city !!! Really wood fired pizza !!! Good prices. They don't sell alcohol, but let you take with you your own wine.You need to booking a table. Only cash, but there is an ATM at 20m. There is a car park in 50m.

Pizza good in flavour, although really soggy on the bottom. Alcohol not sold and also cash payment only. The pizza prices are through the roof for what it is.

Such an amazing find! The best pizza I have eaten out side of Italy, super friendly staff, and a chef who made a butterfly shaped pizza for my daughter. And if this wasn't enough, actual fresh homemade Italian desserts including Canoli. Totally in Heaven ! Thanks so much

Delicious pizza! Freshly baked and very nice dough💯 We were eating there, and it was very hectic. The space is not too big, there are so many people queuing inside to get takeaway so very little space left. The waitress was kind and helpful. But they don’t accept cards which was strange 😶 you have to take cash with you if you want to dine there.

This little Pizzeria was absolutely gorgeous! The pizzas tasted incredible and hats off to the one Lady who was running around doing everything! Didn’t get her name but she was cleaning tables, taking orders, answering the phone while still bringing smiles and positivity! Great service and the food was immaculate!

My big family just walked in on Tuesday evening a we had a grand feast with complimentary ice cream for kids. Definitely recommend antipasti, eggplants with cheese and halloumi sticks from starters. The closed meat pizza was outstanding and the best part: kids were full already, so it was all mine! :D

Fabulous pizzas. Telephone order ready in 10 minutes even though it was Valentine's Day & the restaurant was heaving. The staff so organised. Even given complimentary desserts for a Valentine's treat - best cheesecakes ever. Thank you ❤️

We've been coming to Da Mario's for years now, always enjoyed it and been using Uber Eats to order to home for a few months now, and again, never a problem. Until our order on 27th November where my partner ordered a Vegetarian for myself and a Ciao for herself (which she always gets) - the description on both Uber and their website advises "chicken, mushroom and sweetcorn" ... nothing else. My partner is allergic to onions, and has had this pizza many times with no problem. However on this occasion after ordering and being notified our Pizza would be with us in 45minutes. We didn't receive it for just under 2 hours and when we finally did, my partners pizza was covered in onions. We called Da Mario's who advised us that we would need to speak to Uber eats who are "24/7" as the order was placed through them, even though it was Da Mario's who' messed the order up, and acknowledged that they made this mistake over the phone. We were unable to get through to Uber eats customer service for several days and they've eventually responded to a complaint raised by email to advise they won't be giving a refund. So to highlight this, we've paid nearly £30 for a couple of cold pizzas that had gone nearly soggy due to how long they took to get to us, one of which was made completely wrong by the restaurant and my partner couldn't eat and we're out of pocket.... Not happy. I'd like to think the restaurant would acknowledge this and offer some form of compensation, even it was to come in for a free pizza, but I'm never confident with places taking ownership these days of situations like this. Shame after being regular customers for nearly 5 years. 02/02/2025 - Update. Since the above happened on 27/11/24, more than 2 months ago. And nearly 2 months since I reviewed, I still haven't had a reply or even acknowledgment from Di Mario's owners/staff regarding our experience and the mistake their staff made that left us out of pocket. But it's near comical they immediately responded to another customer today to defend their cash only policy, seems they pick and choose to ignore genuine negative experiences and reviews, and only respond to ones that are easy to answer. Just in case the owners do see this, not that it'll make much of a difference to your business, but you've lost our custom which we've been giving you for years now. I hope you take ownership moving forward of your mistakes and poor customer service, otherwise you'll run the risk of losing more and more customers down the line.

Very good pizza, garlic bread and halloumi sticks with chilli jam. Great service from lily and will definitely come back!

First of all I would like to thank all the staff and the owner, everyone was very nice and it was the best pizza I’ve had around Dorset, i would recommend this place to everyone for the food and the service.

This is not the best pizza in Bournemouth. It's the best pizza in the world 🌍. The team is wonderful and I absolutely challenge you to find a better pizza. You can't. I've tried. Save yourself the hassle and go here.

Very disappointing! We have ordered take away pizzas before and have been pleased but standards seem to be declining because this time there was no ham on the capricciosa and my wife was very disappointed. I called the restaurant to explain but they were not interested so we won't be returning.

Great food staff very kind and a lovely atmosphere

I've ordered twice now as a coeliac and they've always been able to accommodate for my gluten free request. They do advise that they cannot guarantee that it's 100% safe but they take precautions, so I took the risk and never had any problems. Not fantastic pizza in my opinion but I don't tend to be amazed by pizza in general, so take my comment with a pinch of salt. My partner loved his though (non gluten free)!

Da Mario's recently catered for my 30th birthday party and I cannot fault them what so ever. Great communication, prompt delivery even with a large order and it being a busy Saturday night and all the guests absolutely loved the food!

Hands down the best pizza available in Bournemouth, possible Dorset. Staff were super friendly, Lily was very helpful and the food was insanely good. Cash only and you can bring your own drinks. I had the Margherita, 4 cheeses and Calzone (on separate occasions of course haha) and honestly I have not been disappointed once. As an ex deliveroo rider I have had nearly all the pizzas in Bournemouth and this one is by far the best one. 6 out of 5.

Fantastic cosy pizzeria - we arrived with no booking on a Saturday night and the host very kindly managed to squeeze us in between bookings. Pizza was fantastic but the star of the show was the pistachio profiteroles - bloody lovely. Would recommend to anyone !!!

Pizza was incredible! After ordering from the company 'pizza express' I was so disappointed in the lack of taste that I decided to try out an authentic establishment. And I was sooo pleased, the pizza was perfection tasty right the way through to the base, it was really authentic and I absolutely order here again over the well known 'brands' this business deserves to BOOM!

Da Mario has the best pizza I have ever tasted. We first visited 4 years ago and knew we would return if in the area. The dough is puffy and slightly charred, just delicious. Tasty cheese and sauce and generous fresh toppings. Followed by a gorgeous tiramasu and affogato

Amazing one of the best 4 cheese pizzas I’ve ever had, Lily our waitress was lovely and managed to find us a table on a super busy evening. Good value, cash only and no licence so bring a bottle if you want a drink. We'll be back.

Our seating was a little delayed but we enjoyed the beer next door and when we ate the meal was amazing and the service was very accommodating.

We went to dine to Da Mario after someone in our hotel suggested it, Never again! Staff is super rude, not a smile! We waited 20 minutes or so only for the menu, people that came after us was served before us, pizza was burned completely underneath, we ordered a drink but it was never delivered because the waitress forgot ( but she remembered to add it in the bill). No alcohol licence but charge people £4 for bringing their own bottle of wine it's a rip off. The bill's total was scribbled on a piece of paper and the cherry on the cake is that they don't accept cards payment.

Great, authentic Italian pizza. Service is ok depending on the staff, I am sure it gets busy and stressful at the the restaurant but customer is king ;-) Atmosphere is cosy and there is seating outside. Prices are a little high for pizza. However I would recommend this place to eat in or takeaway.

This is another fantastic pizza place. Went a couple of weeks ago. They kindly squeezed us in as they were fully booked. You can bring your own wine. The sourdough base was delicious as was the fresh mozzarella and rich tomato. Make sure you book!!!

Was planning to buy Pintoh Thong Thai but couldn’t wait for the opening and 1 of my fav. Anyway couldn’t be bothered to walk to Koh Thai as I was sleepy. Th pizza is that good that I was woken up and enjoyed it with a good cold Asahi beer. The leafy salad was just as good. No cutleries for take away which was the only downside as I was staying in the nearby Premier Inn.

Brilliant place to eat with a good atmosphere. The food is 5*, pizzas are tasty and authentic. Deserts are yummy. Service was great. Bring your own drink is pretty easy, with Coop around the corner. Would definitely be going back again

After finding our hotel had no tables left for evening meal and not wanting to drive, we googled local restaurants and Da Mario was less than 5 mins walk from hotel. Da Mario is off the tourist track, which meant it was very busy with locals celebrating special occasions - always a good sign! It was busy so they asked to wait for a table. We were sat within approximately 10 minutes. It's very small inside so we were originally seated next a big birthday party then after a few minutes moved to a another table not so near the party. Menu is limited to pizzas for mains, rather than an array of other Italian dishes. However, the kitchen is small so not much room for other options and why deviate from what you're good at?! The pizzas were very good, with generous toppings and crispy bottoms (no-one wants a soggy bottom!). In summary, an excellent, independent, local pizzeria which is well worth a visit. Please note, no alcohol licence but you can bring your own for a corkage fee and also cash only.

Pizza was delicious but expensive, £22! Although I did request burrata be added so perhaps that was costly. Cash only is a little irritating when you don't carry it, its bouncing down with rain & then have to walk round to co-op cash point

I ordered a take away pizza via UberEats. Came to collect while walking my dog. Went inside to ask if my order was ready, the waitress gave me the most ‘annoying’ face expression because I had my dog with me. I walked out as o wasn’t welcomed at all nice. When the waitress came outside to ask me what I wanted, she did sound rude. Not what you expect from a place that has got lots of good reviews. Working myself in hospitality I understand how important to be customer service oriented. Pizza was delicious. Service - not impressed!

Awesome pizza place - great choice. Walk on only, no bookings, and also no card, cash only. Also no alcohol served, but you can bring your own and pay £4 corkage. Parking on the road was tricky, but there's a small car park just around the corner by the co-op. Highly recommend.

Known as uk’s no.1 pizza🍕 Tasty and irresistible wood fire pizza, we ordered prawns and italia pizza, the starter is a bit too small, but pizza is really amazing. The pizza dough was thin and chewy. Highly recommend.
