The service here is second to none- such utterly fantastic staff. Natalie was particularly wonderful. 100% professional, super efficient and extremely understanding to your needs and timings. Food was delicious and so prompt and very reasonably priced. A lovely evening, thank you!! Also only 7 min walk from the theatre and station so great location/place to go on a night out.

Absolutely phenomenal service from both Natalie and Peter. They couldn't do more for you if you wanted them too! The food was clearly made to order (and homemade 😍) and was absolutely divine - large portions too! The atmosphere was lovely, it was warm, cosy and laid back. Will absolutely be returning to such a gem in the heart of Southampton.

The worst service we have ever had means that although the food was good, we suggest you go elsewhere. Suffice to say that we asked for the optional service charge to be taken off the bill.

We visit this lovely little Itallian restaurant each time we visit Southampton. Have got nothing at all negative to say about any of our experiences. They were very obliging one day to squeeze us in when we walked in off the street without pre booking, as they were so busy & the food was, as always, delicious. Food always fresh, hot & plentiful. Great wine too. Recommend the house red!! Staff are all a credit to the business and we cannot wait to return. Thanks you for always making our visit such a memorable one 🥰😍

From entering to existing, the experience was simply fantastic. Our waitress (Natalie) was extremely welcoming, helpful and friendly. The food was a taste sensation, we ordered lobster ravioli from the specials board. Warm decor throughout with an Italian zing. We ordered starters and mains for three adults along with warm breads, garlic bread, beers and wine. Extremely well priced.

A lovely meal after catching a show. Good portion sizes, well presented, tasty and served in a timely manner. Ambience and cleanliness was spot on and staff were engaging and helpful.

Was a pretty good evening great venue and service. Food let it down a bit as had to send one main back and other mains were OK. Deserts and starter were pretty good.

I ate in this lovely restaurant with my mum and grandmother before seeing a show at the Mayflower. The food was amazing, we especially loved the mushroom starter, vegetable risotto and rustica pizza. The profiteroles were also to die for, chocolate lovers heaven! Lovely friendly service and very close proximity to the theatre. Will definitely book here the next time we see a show

It's ok. They try hard to please but don't always succeed. Food was ok. Not great but decent enough - no complaints. Would I go again? Possibly but there are lots of other places to try.

Major birthday meal with a large group; very accommodating and helpful staff; friendly, hot tasty food. Clean facilities. We brought our own cake and they helped us to finish it and brought it out 'on cue'. Highly recommended.

Lovely food but found a bit of hair im in plate which put me off that meal but staff were great. They refunded the dish and also offered to remake anything from the menu. It was just unfortunate that i had lost my appetite by then. Would like to come again in the future and hopefully have the 5 star experience which they would have had.

Went for my birthday in need of a pasta hit and knew La Tavernetta would not disappoint. The service was fantastic and the food delicious as always, particularly the Tiger prawns. Would recommend if anyone wants good food and welcoming atmosphere.

Not sure that adding ten percent onto bill for tip is the right thing to do, it should be done by customer if they feel service warrants it Not to say the service was great . However with a party of 14 it doesn't warrant such a high charge

Natalie who served us was fantastic. Food was v good and good value. Mussels, lobster ravioli and caesars salad mains and the profiteroles rolls were to die for.

I recently celebrated my birthday and indulged in my all-time favorite dessert, tiramisu, and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience! The tiramisu was incredibly delicious, with just the right level of sweetness. It tasted fresh, and the balance of textures was spot on. I'm still dreaming about that - absolutely yum!

Love coming here. Always a pleasure with the team giving a warm welcome. Look forward to sitting at my table 12 soon :D

Lovely pizza lunch with salad. Really quiet when we went, probably due to the weather, but it had a nice atmosphere.

Great food and service. The lobster ravioli was delicious, as was the Friscati accompanying it.

Visited for a pre-theatre dinner (this is probably their main business). It was near full when we arrived but the service and food was quick. Mine was good, my wife's was a little less so. She had Bruschetta which was surprisingly bland, I had Mussels which were good. Main of cheese gnocchi and sea bass were both good (although more sauce with the fish was needed). Tiramisu was also slightly lacking in flavour, we expected a boozy kick from the sponge but it just tasted of cream. Overall, slightly disappointing for a 3-course meal that cost just under £100 with drinks.

This was the most welcoming restaurant I have been to in Southampton. The food was amazing - would highly recommend.

It's hard to find good food in the UK but this restaurant was a nice surprise. We had the fresh mussels, the spaghetti with cherries, prawns and asparagus, and the lobster ravioli. Everything was delicious, nicely cooked and of very good quality. Will definitely come again!

Great meal this evening, well looked after by Natalie, thank you for making a rare whole family evening go smoothly, fabulous chicken and pizza dishes, and apple pie dessert was simply devine. We will be back!

Recommended by the Italian restaurant round the corner, as they didn’t have space. This restaurant was lovely, a little under staffed however the ladies worked their socks off. Well done on good service, very good food. Would definitely visit again. The Penne pollo was fab.

This is likely the best authentic Italian restaurant in the whole of Southampton. They have a great selection of freshly made pasta, and good choice of appetisers. Their selection of cocktails is also excellent. Every time I come here the service is always amazing and the staff is attentive and can give me some great recommendations. Also, the atmosphere is really pleasant and friendly, most times the place is very lively and full of people enjoying themselves. Honestly, I couldn’t recommend this restaurant enough. It’s perfect for a romantic dinner, catch up with friends or a work event, and conveniently located in the heart of the city.

Upon arrival we were greeted by extremely friendly staff who made us feel very relaxed and welcome. The atmosphere was lovely with a relaxed vibe. Staff were attentive without being overbearing. Service was excellent and the food we had was delicious. My partner had seafood pasta and I had chicken saltimbocca. Both meals were 10/10. Definitely would go back again.

We had the most amazing lunch today. We walked in without a booking and we were looked after from the minute we walked ins the food is fresh and very delicious and the staff really do know what they are doing. Amazing fresh arrabiata, pizza and the best homemade tiramisu we have tasted.

Cozy, clean and a beautiful environment

Unfortunately, my experience was mediocre at best. The service was very slow, we (group of 6) waited for about 45 minutes for the mains to be served. The risotto pancheta I had was average, I've certainly had better. For the quality, I found it pricey. Based on the reviews, I hoped it would have been really good, but I don't see myself going again. Edit:To reply to your response, perhaps you looked at another table? I'm fairly certain the mains came at about 7 as we had very little time to eat and then leave to attend a play starting at 7:30. Anyways, all the best to your business.

Eaten here a number of times, always my go to for something to eat in Southampton. Always good service, excellent food and great atmosphere.

Such welcoming Staff fabulous services nothing was to much trouble we visited as a family of ladies with the children our table was in a great position, the food was absolutely lovely the children really enjoyed there’s to. We all said we wouldn’t hesitate to visit again would highly recommend this restaurant.

Booked last minute as staying nearby at Premier Inn (5 minute walk). Warm welcome, buzzy atmosphere. Food was very good - risotto and lobster pasta plus two delicious desserts. Service was very friendly and price reasonable given the quality of ingredients. Not the most appealing outlook on the main road but otherwise a very good experience - recommended.
