Hands down the best carvery place in Southampton

We celebrated a wedding reception here yesterday and what an amazing experience. Staff were incredible especially with helping me charge my camera batteries! What an amazing place and the food was outstanding! Everything was just perfect for the newlyweds! It was amazing!

We decided to try this place out for our biweekly date night. The atmosphere was warm and lively and the service was fantastic. We were a bit disappointed by the size of some of the plates of food. Especially the small plates section. We thought it was incredibly overpriced for what you got. We had calamari, bread, meatballs and a pasta dish. The calamari and bread was delicious. We weren't overly impressed by the size, price or taste of the meatballs or pasta. We definitely won't be coming again because of this. However, the staff were a real pleasure

The best Italian restaurant in Southampton. Delicious food, friendly people l! Worth visiting!

First time visitor today for the Sunday roast. It did not disappoint. Had the trio of meats really good quality, well cooked and large portions. Veg was excellent only thing roast potatoes were very very small and there were only 6 however, still a great Sunday roast.

Spent my 60th birthday there for roast dinner the best roast dinner and atmosphere and service was amazing thank you.

Booked in for Sunday lunch and was a first time visit for me. Lovely building inside, staff very friendly, attentive and helpful. I had the roast Lamb and it was delicious and all the trimmings were also spot on. Definitely one of the best places for a Sunday Roast in Southampton but you will need to book.

Does not disappoint. Two for one cocktails 17-18, and some amazing cocktails! Aranacini and croquettes were woof delicious. High has to be the veg gnocchi and ravioli. Dessert is a must

Delicious food, every item we ordered was perfect. Cocktail hour was a surprising bonus. Good quality cocktails, with plenty of alcohol. Service was really good and friendly.

We thoroughly enjoyed our relaxed evening. The ambience is very pleasant, though there was a fairly loud party in the bar, that is atmosphere isn't it? We could talk fine. The food is well executed and tasty. It's nice to be able to try a good variety of dishes, we had 6 plates between 2 which was more than enough.

First time to Bacaro after a few attempts at booking as it is very popular. I can however see why after a great meal here, all the food was great and the service was extremely attentive. Cocktails were excellent and was a perfect meal to finish off the working year. Highly recommend and we look forward to returning!

I booked this place for my birthday and I can say it is definitely one of the best restaurants in Southampton. Food being the most important, I found they have a variety you don't find in other restaurants. It is a small plates menu so don't expect a huge plate of pasta but quality and taste was very good (especially the arancini balls and sirloin steak). Our waiter was very attentive and the atmosphere of the place was great. Very pleased with their wine too. I would totally recommend.

I came here in January for my birthday and I loved it! We were served by Bari, who was friendly, knowledgable and gave great service without being in your face. I've been meaning to leave this review for weeks but kept forgetting. If I remember correctly I had a pizza which was delicious... and we also had ravioli along with several other side dishes (which I can't remember now because it was a while ago) but everything was so good and we were all very impressed and will definitely be going back. The ambience, decor, service, food... everything was great! Would highly recommend.

I decided my birthday meal would be spent at Bacaro.as soon as you walk in you are greeted with a warm smile and welcome. The bar area is relaxed and friendly and vibrant.For the meal I had the cod, chilli prawns, arrancini and garlic bread. The cod was cooked to perfection, light and tasty. The chilli prawns were just right with the taste and heat. The garlic bread was delightful and not over done. The arrancini were mixed with parmesan and wild mushrooms ... they are a taste sensation !! The wine was red this time and it was light and fruity and complemented the food superbly !! I have absolutely no complaints about the food in fact it was sublime, gorgeous I could go on with how good it was. As for the cost it's not bad in my eyes, you actually have to pay for excellence but it's worth every single penny I paid !!The real stars of this complete gem of a place is the guys and girls who work there. Let's face it they are the make or break of any restaurant. A lovely modern venue. Really attentive staff .the taster menu was delicious. My only thought was as we had a party of 3 some of the taster option only accommodated 2!! Would it be too difficult to make the taster menu fit to the people numbers? There were plenty of tables of threes eating. Otherwise it was a lovely evening with great service

We were late trying to find somewhere that could accommodate 8 for a Sunday dinner, and Bacaro said they could do it which was great, the service was great, so friendly and polite with a nice amount of humour thrown in. The food was top notch so tasty and the sharing roast is such a good idea, we all loved the restaurant so much that we all stopped on the way out to check out the normal menu, I think several of us will be returning for another visit.

Went to Bacaro the Sunday just gone with a group of 10 for a Sunday roast and couldn’t have been happier. The service was great, the cocktails were awesome, the atmosphere was perfect and the food was just another level. Billie and her team have really got an absolute gem going here! Will definitely be back again.... very soon!

Visited here last night with friends and had a wonderful evening. Booked in for 6pm as a table of 4 and was served by Anna all evening who was wonderful! Food was lovely, wine was great & all the staff were fantastic. They even managed to extend our booking slot for a extra hour (your given the table for 2 hours depending on party size). A really cool social setting and perfect for a catch up with close friends. Ideal to order multiple different dishes and share. Will be returning.

Another great visit to Bacaro, just everything we like and enjoy. Lots of little plates of deliciousness, a very special mention to Stefano who went out of his way to make sure we got our delicious vegetarian arancini balls as the ones on the menu contained meat! So thanks very much! Sometimes it's just the little things that make the night that little bit extra. Perfect Start to finish I could safely say. All I would say is that there is live music on a friday evening and for me properly was a little to loud.

I went here with my girlfriend for Valentine’s Day and we were served by the lovely Ana. The ambience had a rustic and cosy feel, the food was served quickly and dessert was a surprise. Whenever I’m in Southampton, I’ll definitely go back.

The food was fresh, flavourful and just the right amount. The atmosphere was perfect for couples/friends meal out and the waiters, especially Celso, made the experience personal and special!

Me and my husband came here for a romantic meal. The atmosphere was lovely,chilled and although busy not overly noisy. The food was incredible And I think I had the best pizza I've had in my life! The staff were attentive, friendly and chatty. We're definitely going back and it's making my mouth water just thinking about it!

Excellent food, never had something like this before. Plenty of small dishes at excelent quality and taste. You really need to try their lamb, pizza and start with squids. And for the end, best ever sticky toffee puding!!!!! Thank you for brilliant service guys!

Great service, very attentive waitresses always well spoken and in good manner. The food is always exceptional and there is a wide variety of selection on the wine list, that can also come from besides the classic bottle or glass combination and extend into large glasses or carafe.

Great late Sunday lunch at Bacaro, we booked really late and could only get a seat in the bar, however on arrival I asked if it was possible to sit in the main dining area if they got any no shows, they quickly made us aware of a table that had become available, which was great! We had the roast beef and nut roast both were fantastic and we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner, the parsnips deserve their own mention as they were incredible! We've been coming in here on and off since just after it opened, I note my previous review was in Jun 2016 and have found it excellent for special occasions. Thus my wife booked a table for my birthday this weekend. She was warned that the only one available was in the bar, but having seen people eating at these tables in the past we did not foresee an issue with this. What she was not told was that the table was in fact effectively in the passage to the WCs and kitchens, so dark that one struggled to read the menus and so noisy that we could not hear the waitress. We left and found an alternative in Oxford Street. I have to say the waitress seemed delightful and genuinely disappointed at out departure. We would perhaps return but only to a table in the restaurant itself.

I have been here multiple times, and it has always been fab. The staff are awesome (especially Stefano) who always manages to squeeze us in. The food and atmosphere are to die for... especially when, like tonight, you have a live band playing whilst enjoying the exceptional tapas! Thanks guys...!

Overdue review of Bacaro, been coming here since it opened and it’s probably my favourite restaurant in Southampton.

It was our second visit to Bacaro and could not have been happier. The food was exceptional. Delicious, well cooked and great presentation. The icing on the cake was the service provided by Bari who was attentive but not intrusive.

Superb Sunday lunch - visited with children having found this restaurant hidden behind ocean village by accident. On first try we were unable to get a table spontaneously for Sunday lunch as they are fully booked. Today having eaten there we understand why. We had starters of butternut squash and ricotta crostini and focaccia with a whipped garlic butter - both superb. For main we all had the roast - choice of lamb, beef or chicken or a combination of all 3. This was served with a platter of roasted potatoes and parsnips, boiled carrots and braised red cabbage, cauliflower cheese - which were all delicious, together with 3 gravy boats to share. Everything disappeared as it was all well cooked. The service was also great - our waiter Baci, was attentive but not overly pushy as is sometimes the case in a busy restaurant where there are always people waiting for a table.

Fabulous Saturday lunch. Ana was a legend. We popped in for lunch in January and she couldn’t have been lovelier. Excellent food and Prosecco! Thank you all.

5*, great food, great staff, great night! We have eaten at Bacaro a few times in the past year but I must say, the food is always amazing. We came here on NYE, not expecting a lot, small plates but there was so much food we couldn’t eat it all, it just kept coming! The entertainment was amazing, at one point we thought the live band was the DJ! Special mention to Sophie, Barrie and Celso who offered a five star service and were there making the night enjoyable! I didn’t expect much for a small place on NYE but this place exceeded my expectations. As a business owner myself, I would like to say that I thought all of the staff did an amazing job and provided a high level of customer service. They are a credit to the owners.

Where do I begin ... focaccia ...not focaccia at all.Board of cured Italian meats (£15)just a few slices of it served with a mountain of bread ( at least the bread was nice :) ..... and surprise surprise English Sunday roast with old fashion overcooked vegetables!!! For an Italian restaurant 0 points. Finale ... all points for the service .

Group of 7 friends for evening. Very warm welcome with glass of Prosecco before being taken to our table. Food was Italian style tapas. All excellent quality and of sufficient portion sizes. Dishes served to table at appropriate times so able to digest previous but not waiting for next dish. Ravioli was delightful

Had a fantastic meal which was a lovely twist on Italian cuisine. They have great live music every friday and Saturday. Usually smooth jazz or similar. Perfect volume for eating and talking or just listening and enjoying. Can't think of a nicer evening we've had in Southampton.

This was the first time visiting Bacaro in Southampton and it will certainly not be the last! We were treated to what I can only describe as the best meal I have eaten in a very long time. The venue itself is charming and when we arrived we were politely shown to our table. We were given a menu and ordered a drink which was served promptly. I have to say I was a little unsure as I didn’t understand the menu but this was explained in detail by a member of staff. As it was a our first visit the staff member suggested that we order a selection of small plates from each section of the menu. In fact she kindly offered to arrange an appropriate choice. It was fabulous! The selection was varied, the tastes were exceptional and everything just melded together beautifully. It was just delicious and the staff were great. We will definitely be going back soon and encouraging our friends to try Bacaros if they want to experience something really special.

We had a day shopping at the west quay, my husband booked Bacaro, we have eaten here a few years ago, The staff were very pleasant from the moment we walked in. the atmosphere was fantastic. We had a selection of tapas, we couldn’t decide and found it difficult to choose. we actually order to much, but every thing was absolutely perfect. all were cooked and served speedy and with a friendly service. we really enjoyed this meal and will certainly be calling again.

Very nice restaurant, lovely helpful staff. The food was very nice but because of a fish allergy there was a lot that I was unable to eat as it was cooked in the same oil as the squid. The food that I was able to eat was lovely and the staff made the occasion feel special.

Billie and her team hosted the Surveyors Christmas Party this year at Bacaro for 76 people. We were fortunate enough to have the venue exclusively for the afternoon and evening. We had the Christmas menu which included a welcome cocktail, three courses and cheese to finish. Billie was extremely accommodating which meant that the event went very smoothly and timings of the dishes and speeches/games/prize givings all worked seamlessly. The food was amazing and the smaller sharing dishes worked brilliantly. I will be recommending Bacaro to next years organisers and I am looking forward to my next visit! Thank you all!

Amazing roast! Great atmosphere very quick service, food came out within 10minutes of ordering. Very friendly and welcoming staff especially Celso. Would definitely recommend and definitely come back!

I booked this venue for my dad's 60th and auntie's 70th birthday meal. There were 30 of us in total. The food was great, the atmosphere was great and everyone enjoyed the food. The best part for me as the organiser, was how great the staff were. I mostly dealt with Billie in the lead up to the meal and she couldn't have been more helpful. Dietary requirements, bringing in balloons and cake, having children who were fussy eaters and sorting the bill at the end of the meal - nothing was too much trouble. I would highly recommend this venue for a large group and will be visiting again.

We went here yesterday and had a great time. Cocktails to start and then lots of dishes to share. Made to feel really welcome by our hostess. Everyone in our party of four enjoyed the food and atmosphere.

Being regular social diners we wanted something a little different and off our ‘reservation’.

First visit (been trying to go for ages) really warm welcome from the staff, our sever Shae was so warm and friendly and looked after us. Roast dinner was everything I was expecting, amazing! Meats are served on plate, then all the sides (pots, veg, stuffing, gravy etc) served on a sharing board, and there was plenty of food. Not only did the food look amazing but also tasted superb, gravy spot on. Best Sunday roast we have had out for some time... so good booked again next week! Bacaro is a really lovely venue with a good vibe as well, Xmas decorations look class. Just wish I’d visited sooner as there truly aren’t that many “great” places that impress in Southampton, todays visit certainly did. Cannot wait to return and highly recommend (TIP, book in advance).

First time visiting as a couple for the Sunday roast. Absolutely did not disappoint. The meat was cooked perfectly and the side dishes were out of this world, perfectly cooked seasonal veg and incredible roast potatoes. Our server Bari was so lovely and accommodating, couldn’t have asked for better service. 10/10 will be back again for many more Sunday’s.

Called Bacaro last minute for a table on Friday (3 ppl at 7pm) and mentioned we had a dog with us, we were told it was no problem as long as we dont mind dining in the bar area, as dogs aren't allowed in the restaurant, no problem there. The person on the phone also mentioned they had a band starting at 8pm and was thoughtful enough to ask if the dog would be ok with live music and suggested an earlier table at 6pm if not, I happily agreed and accepted.

A large group of us visited for dinner. We were all really happy with our food and the service was great. The menus were explained to us clearly and our food arrived promptly. Lovely restaurant and a great atmosphere.

Visited on a Saturday night for my fiancé’s birthday. Ordered arancini, meat platter, steak, side of truffle fries, the pepperoni pizzette and the spaghetti. All of which were delicious. Lovely buzzy atmosphere, fantastic staff including our server Celso. Clearly explained the tapas concept to us so we knew what to expect.

I rarely bother with reviews, generally saving them for the exceptionally good or utterly terrible. This is most certainly for the exceptionally good!

Top restaurant to find, lovely surprise in Southampton. Smashing Italian menu. We chose5 dishes which was plenty for two. Cheese, olive and meat platter was outstanding. Chocolate brownie was delicious.
