The best restaurants serving Indian food in South West Scotland

Booked this restaurant after passing by it one evening while in Starthaven. I can't say I was overly impressed when we arrived. We were seated in the glass conservatory, right next to the wall heater that was blasting directly onto us. The waitress took 20 minutes before we were asked what we would like to order for drinks. Then a further 10 minutes to take our meal order after our drinks arrived. The starters were nice, but the chasni we ordered for two of our main dishes were pretty bland and the one I had, had several tough pieces of chicken, which put me off. I left most of it. My son ate all of his, so perhaps I was just unlucky. The young blonde haired waitress looked like she would rather be anywhere else than her work. She took a second drinks order and brought the small glasses of coke and not the pints of cola that we had asked for. Our table was overcrowded with the first round of glasses and cans that were left on the table when the second round of drinks were brought to us. The tables were too close together in the conservatory, we could barely get out when people sat at the table behind us. I was sadly disappointed with the whole experience, which was sad as I had high hopes after reading all the raving reviews. I wouldn't return.

My grandson, his daddy and their friends had an amazing time at the Grinch party on Sunday. A great idea and we are all looking forward to next years Thank you to the girls who arranged the party, what a super staff team Anaya have. We are regulars of Kilbirnie Anayas and the staff and food are always excellent

Very good fresh food very friendly staff good place for a few beers and a nice meal good location Will definitely be turning again. I’m looking forward to it. Would recommend chicken madras

Excellent meal on Thursday night, 10th April 2025 at Jholpai Indian Fusion in Lanark - I had Jalfrezi lamb, my friend chicken Jalfrezi and my other friend Punjabi lamb - accompanied with vegetable and chicken pakoras, nan bread, mushroom pilau rice and washed down with Kingfisher Beers - the lamb was cooked to perfection and melted away in your mouth - and the restaurant has recently been redecorated and refurnished 😀😀😀

Ate in on a random Tuesday night stay have been a random night to have dinner at 9 pm but it ws amazing

Came here 6 years ago on a stag do and had find memories of the food albeit slightly intoxicated. Came back today as we are passing to the the west Highland way and was still blown out of the water with the food yet again. Would highly recommend.

Went on Sat night and had a brilliant meal. Staff were so attentive, service was brilliant. Will definitely go again and are happy to recommend it to others.

Food is excellent, good portion sizes, plenty of flavour. Sat inside which is a bit strange, not really any atmosphere. Service was okay, clearly understaffed to deal with seated restaurant customers compared to the large amount of takeaway orders.

The photos of the venue on tripadvisor are not of the actual place. It is a takeaway, with 3 booths and a few tables, which look like they have been pulled out of an old closed down restaurant. This place cannot be classed as a restaurant. All the fast food takeaway customers are coming and going and the delivery drivers are sitting about. We ordered 2 starters, 2 curries, a mixed xxl kebab and some drinks. The curries were decent, no complaints, the kebab was anaemic looking, on asking they said they had cooked it in an oven as opposed to a grill or tandoor. If nowhere else is available, and you need a meal, then take your chance, I will be avoiding in the future, bill for 3 was £52, certainly not cheap for a small town.

Pakora, cold small and was like eating old boots, so hard they ended up in bin. Very disappointed.

Absolutely fantastic from start to finish

We had such a great time at Gulab in Irvine! The food was absolutely amazing—so tasty and full of flavour. Every single dish was spot on. Charlie looked after our table of 7 and he was just brilliant. Super friendly, really helpful, and nothing was too much trouble. He made us feel really welcome and just added to the whole experience. We’ll definitely be back soon. Can’t recommend it enough!

Very poor. Probably the worst home delivery I have ever had. Chicken dry. Asked for pickles, just got lime pickle. Everything drenched with bland tomatoes. Very bad for the price they have the cheek to charge. Always said we would try a sit in meal but after this let down, not a chance. Got far better things to spend my money on.
