We have been to the restaurant few times and had takeaways too and we are never disappointed! The food is amazing and full of flavour. The garlic nan is amazing! The staff are so friendly and service is always quick, slightly slower on busy nights, but that's to be expected from a popular restaurant. Cocktail menu is fab and the owners always stop to chat to customers. Would recommend a visit.

Absolutely mystified at how this place has so many good reviews. The food was so bland, no taste or spices whatsoever. We had a lamb curry and a tarka dal and there was zero taste.

I always try and book a table: staff are very friendly and helpful. The menu is extensive; loads of choice and well written so you have enough information to try something new. Portions are big so make sure you don't overdo it or you'll be leaving with your left overs. One of my favourite places to eat, locally.

We booked our table a week in advance for 5 adults and our 10month old baby. The booking was for 5.30pm on a Sunday, thinking that we would have some dinner and get back home around 7.30pm, on time for our baby’s bath time. How wrong we were! We waited for our food for 1 hour and 50 minutes! (Yes. Nearly 2 hours!!!) When I went to ask why it was taking so long, (considering that there were maybe 5-6 tables with people in the whole restaurant) the waitress behind the bar said that they were very busy with all their takeaway orders. Well, that was terrible customer service. So if you turn up to have a sit in meal, you come second! Takeaway orders have priority! Well, it doesn’t say this anywhere! I am not keen to return.

Greeted by an unsmiling man who showed us to our table. 4 adults and a toddler, tables given were one square and one circular 🤔. The two girls serving drinks and food were delightful, sadly the waiter was not. He was surly and unhelpful, and hardly rushed off his feet as the restaurant was quiet. Food was very average, will not be rushing back.

Been to Taal a few times, both dine in and takeaway. Mixed bag of service and food quality but we thought we would give another chance...... 1 hour 30 mins to arrive (initially informed 40 minutes) with 2 calls to chase, assured after each call it was a couple of mins away (just not true). When it arrived, food was luke warm and the lamb was so tough and overcooked that it could not be eaten. Not a fan of receiving pass-off comments of "it's 2 minutes away" when it's simply not true. So, in summary, similar experience to previous visits.

We had been a couple of months ago and vowed then never to go back as the dahl curry which had always been good, was utterly tasteless and just tasted salty. However we thought we would give them the benefit of the doubt and visited again. We arrived and the older man who is always there, perhaps the owner, took us to our seat. There was no sense of welcome, unlike in the past when it used to be so friendly. We ordered from the vegan menu - cauliflower pakora and were told that one of the dips was not vegan! We asked the waitress to replace it. We ordered two curries - mine was a vegetable shashlik - huge lumps of veg with a sauce on the side - and my partner’s was a vegetable curry which looked and tasted dull and unappealing. There was also far too much food which we couldn't eat. I wouldn’t normally criticise that but you just didn’t want to eat it all! The place wasn’t busy but the wait was far too long. We left and the older man didn’t even say thanks and goodbye. Not a good experience

Having had a lovely day out, we finished our day here. We had been before which was just after lockdown and had a fantastic meal with great staff, so we thought it would be the same again, how wrong were we? Having arrived at 4-15pm we ordered the pre-theatre, starter was ok at best this is when I started to notice that some of the staff were watching us at all times, every time I looked up the older man was watching from an open doorway. This made me feel extremely uncomfortable, my friend had her back to him so never seen this. One of the staff came to take our starter plate away while I was still eating. We then asked for a 10 min break between courses, this didn’t seem to go down too well. The main courses came and we cannot fault them they were both lovely. Again I was getting watched with every mouthful of food I had, this was starting to put me off my food, my friend then ordered another small wine. Once we finished eating we were letting our food settle while my friend finished her wine. A member of staff then came and slapped the bill on the table, we hadn’t asked for the bill at this time, but we never questioned it. By this time the restaurant was getting busier but by no means was it full, there were still a few empty tables. At 6-15 the man who had spent most of his time staring at me then came up to us and asked us to leave as they needed the table, both of us were extremely embarrassed by this. As we were leaving someone who was sitting near the entrance, who we think was the owner said “ goodbye I hope you enjoyed your meal” my friend who was extremely angry by this time then told him what had just happened, he apologised and said that they must have been needing the table, this I couldn’t understand as there were still plenty of empty tables, but even if this was the case if they had mentioned to us when we arrived that they needed the table back for a certain time we wouldn’t have taken as much time. They could have also asked us to finish our drinks elsewhere if they needed the table so urgently.Overall the food was good, but the staff were extremely rude and this spoiled my meal. After our first visit we told all our friends about this place we will now be telling them not to bother. After spending £50 on 2 pre-theatre meals that were totally spoiled by rude staff we left and neither us or any of our friends will return.

My partner and I had a pre theatre meal here for £14.99 midweek. I had chicken chatt which was quite meagre - 2 wings covered in a curry sauce which was nice but nothing special. My partner had veg pakora which she enjoyed. I then had lamb chasni which I felt lacked a bit of flavour. My partner had chicken tikka chasni which she enjoyed - probably had more depth of flavour because it was tikka’d The service was good but Just a wee bit disappointed with the food

Perhaps expectation exceeded our experience. Voted to be Scotland’s best curry restaurant 2023. Who voted? In our week in Scotland we ate at 2 other Indian /Asian restaurant where the food quality - flavour - was far superior, as well as dining experience. Taal was very busy. The output from the kitchen for diners and takeaway would put any factory to shame. Ans the food did come out as if being from a factory non-stop. Probably above average but not worth a 30min detour.

We had reserved our table for 6pm on Ne'erday and arrived around 1/2 5 to be shown to our table with no qualms at all. I say this because although there were a good few already in enjoying their meals, it really filled up around 6:30pm. Saying that, the staff had everything in hand, their organisation was spot on especially as it looked as if a double decker bus had pulled up out side...they coped admirably.Once settled at our table with our drinks we did what perhaps most people do, have a good look at the menu but have already decided what we're having, our favourites...So, a chicken chasni and southern fried Indian garlic chilli chicken with a nan bread and rice to share were ordered. As usual the food was served in good time, cooked to perfection with the portions being plentiful and lovely and hot. Both were delicious, none of your run of the mill dishes masked with over compensated spices but cooked as they should be. The flavours coming through as they should, delicate yet proper..We finished with lovely coffee and were heading home in time for emmerdale, not bad for a new years day meal booked for 6pm..A wee post note,,, just for the "wee bit tad loud" woman who was seated about 6:30 (6 tables away) who seemed to want everyone in the restaurant to know what she got for Christmas,,,,I'm sure your tops etc were very nice but,,, by the sounds of things were maybe 3 or 4 sizes too small for you. Maybe your mirror is the kind you get at the circus. I would talk a bit quieter if I were you,, LOLAnyway, another great meal in the lovely Taal. In a word,,,, superb!!!Like I said, before and after,,says it all.

I always thought when passing or getting a takeaway it was busy in the restaurant maybe because of the convenience and no other choice locally for a sit down indian meal. After our meal on Saturday we now know its because it is very good indeed. The staff were very attentive as soon as we arrived and gave us a few moments at our table before taking our drinks order. There was no rush to order and when we did it was well worth the wait. The vegetable and fish pakora was delicious and the two dips were spot on. Our main courses were so nice, you could tell all the ingredients were fresh and natural. The chicken chasni was the way it should be, in taste and colour. Our previous chasni from a corner takeaway was the colour of tomato soup, this was the colour of a dish made from all natural herbs and spices, perfect. The rogan josh was the same, the flavour not hidden by added spices but simply tasted as it should.Accompanied with the ideal and very nice Kingfisher lager in the new extension it was a very pleasant night out.By the time we left the place was full, just a wee criticism there. To accommodate more custom they set up tables directly in front of the bar making it a wee bit of a squeeze and awkward when paying. I personally would not have liked having my meal with people standing next to me trying to pay for theirs. But, all said and done that didn't take anything away from our lovely meal. Can't wait for our Ne'erday banquet....

We love our Indian food and the Taal ticked all the boxes. We had booked in advance, and were given a choice of tables - always a good sign. We both opted for the seek kebabs for starters and both chose dishes from the Chef's Specialities. We were both delighted. The lamb in my curry was very tender, melting in the mouth, and my wife chose a chicken curry in a cream coconut sauce we delicate spices. the pashwari nan was freshly made, piping hot and fantastic. All the food was served at a hot temperature on hot plates excellent. The restaurant was busy, and once tasting the food, you could see why. If we lived in the area, we would be regular customers. Only area for improvement - possibly having the option of a real ale with the curry.

I don't do beer but am told their chilled Cobra is excellent. A bottle of wine can be had for £12.95. The menu is varied, they also have a pre-theatre menu up until 1830. Though it has been in the Cabin, (once the Tudor Tea room, with 2 or three restaurants following on,) for 13 years, somehow I managed to miss it. I LOVE Indian food and have eaten Indian food in many cities all over the world. But Taal is truly the best Indian food I’ve ever had. The naan is fluffy and thick (they told me it takes them 24 hours to make the dough!) and all the curries and fresh and delicious. The staff and super friendly and welcoming and the decor is lovely and bright. I am vegan and have always gotten a great meal here. They are working on a vegan menu and the staff are very knowledgeable about what they can veganise. All of the naan’s are vegan minus the garlic naan as they use garlic butter on that. The peshwari naan is fantastic!!!!! I highly recommend this place to everyone who loves Indian food!

Visited this evening with my parents and ordered off the pre-theatre menu which states at the bottom that you can choose off the european menu also. When ordering the waiter said it would be extra to order european food to which my mum pointed to the menu which said it was included, he then said ok thats fine. Ordered our food (chicken chasni with rice, haddock & chips and chicken & chips with a naan bread to share between us all) and drinks. Waiter appeared a few minutes later with only 2 drinks. We just assumed he would be bringing my water seperately maybe in a jug. Waited and waited, then our starters came which were lovely. It was only once I was eating that I realised i still had no drink so we said to the waiter and eventually I got my water. Mains arrived and I was given my curry, naan, fish & chips and chicken and chips...no rice! Had to say to waiter we are still waiting on rice. He popped to the kitchen and apologised for the error. Tucked into the food which was all very tasty and we really enjoyed it.

I asked this guy if he was looking for a curry chef 6 months ago. He really should have taken me up on my offer. I you enjoy the taste of raw ginger and raw garlic, this is the place for you. Now, dear owner, and I know you read this, the offer still stands if you still have my number.

Outstanding food, great staff fab atmosphere, tick, tick, tick.. what more could you ask for! Lamb Pardassi was just the best if your looking for the curry of your choice just ask and the management will try and oblige a Desi style dish!

My husband and I regularly visit the Taal and always have excellent food and service. Last night we had the company of my son and girlfriend who are Vegan. Nothing was too much trouble for the Taal. There was a wide range of dishes suitable for the Vegan diet and accompaniments including a Peshwari naan. We were all very impressed

Delicious Indian take away for a night of no cooking, lovely chicken curry mains and the best garlic naan but our pakora was not as good as we’ve had before, we left most of it, the batter was a bit odd ! We still think this is a good Indian take away.

Having not been in for years decided to pop in to see if we could get a table due to most places full due to mothers day. The place was busy but managed to get a table.

Menu is a shambles...... portions are large, very tough meat (when you can find it in the dish) overly greasy. Have been there a few times before....... we'd have second or third thoughts about going back.

The food at the Taal is so good. For me it's best to eat in as the service is great and the food tastes really fresh and delicious. It's not the usual oily Indian food you sometimes get from Take-Away's. I would definitely recommend a trip here.

I love The Taal. The staff are friendly, it’s a lovely setting next to the burn, the decor is nice, and the food is outstanding. I’ve been going there for years and it never gets boring. I’ve celebrated several occasions there; birthdays, Christmas Eves, and leaving nights. My partner and I also had our first date there. I now live far away, but am willing to make a journey just for some Seekh Kebabs and a Shashlik Tandoori. And not forgetting the garlic naan. Amazing!

We came here for the first time to have our first meal without any children's for a while! Then location is good and the carpark nearby is only 100yards away maximum. The decor was a bit tired inside but the views of the town outside were nice. There wasn't much of a buz or atmosphere inside but the staff were all very friendly and attentive and couldn't do enough for you. We had a starter and main which was very nice. The Pakora starters were nice, as was the large garlic Nan Bread with our curries. The prices were reasonable for the location and we had a nice meal. One thing that lets down the venue was the toilets which were very dilapidated and in need of an upgrade. Plus the men's toilets had a single door opening beside a table which when open gives you a good view of people using the facilities which was slightly of putting so keep an eye on where you get sat! So all in all, the place could do with a spruce up but the food was not too bad for the price paid. I would give it another go.

Travelling through on the way further north and found this gem a few miles from our B&B. Great hospitality, service, atmosphere & food. We love authentic Indian food and this certainly was that and more. Anything extra we asked for was no trouble and came from the chef spot on. Lamb on the bone curry was so tasty. Great find and if we were Scottish and lived nearer we would definitely come again. Highly recommend a meal here.

Best indian take away in larkhall. Donner Kebab is the best I have ever tasted, pink sauce is to die for, pizza's are great, chicken pakora absolutely fantastic. Chicken korma delicious. Everything I have tried I could not fault. Also the most friendliest staff out of all the take away places in larkhall. Would give more than 5 stars if I could.

Such a SCAM!!! Had the worst experience. So the food was delicious and no problem with that. Me and my friend went to the restaurant for food and drinks. There was no drink menu in the restaurant but not a problem as we were only getting soft drinks. We had 4 drinks all together (coke pints) and we got a HAND WRITTEN bill that our drinks were £20. While ordering we seen the waitress put a can of juice in a pint glass and filled it with ice. I’m sorry but £5 for a can of juice. That £20 could easily go to another meal. Honestly gutted as the food was great but I went to call the restaurant and I was told I was saving money apparently by getting a pint. Really disappointed overall with everything and won’t recommend
