The best restaurants serving Indian food in England

We've been ordering take aways for 8 years now, so let's deal with the high points first.... Flavour...100% Service...100% Value for money ( exl. the naan)...100% Consistency....100% until recently.... So, in terms of their take away mains... absolutely faultless, tasty and good portions, spice level just to our liking. Every bit as good now as it was 8 years ago when we first ordered. So what has changed? The naan breads... they get smaller every year & yes I get that their costs go up bit but seriously? Surely their costs on the naan don't increase that much. But, it's not even the increased costs of the naan which are such a huge irritation and red flag for me... its the quality. We ordered several keema naan a few days ago with our family meal. A keema naan is supposed to be a naan stuffed with a filling....not so..... no filling, instead a wee bit of coloured something or other smeared over the upper side of the naan. Not saying it wasn't keema.... just saying that a smearing on top does not equate to a filling!! It looks like tomato paste on a pizza.... Perhaps this was a one off bad experience, hope so because honestly their take away food is absolutely gorgeous, second to none for taste, but please dont scrimp on the smaller less costly items to you because by doing so you're just spoiling our feeling of value for money which is a shame because you're so good at the rest. But for the naan debacle, I'd have given you a 10 star rating.

Ordered for collection. Haven’t had a curry from here in a few years when it was great before. Collection quick and easy. Staff friendly. We were quite disappointed with the food- popadoms, onion bahjees, curry and rice were not very good. Rice was an odd orange colour, not normal pilau rice. Very below average meal. £36 for 2 people, which is quite expensive when it wasn’t very good. Wouldn’t be coming again unfortunately.

Terrible. Booked online for a table of 6 people email receipt received Got to the venue no table booking no apology and no table given . Will not be booking again. Went to Sufian around the corner excellent service and food.

Exploiters of children, avoid at ALL costs. Involved in seedy goings on with underaged girls.

Had an absolutely amazing meal from Odiham Tandoori yesterday. It’s been taken over by new management and had a bit of a redecoration in there. The food was out of this world, not just your generic Indian food. This was cooked with passion and had so many flavours going on in one single dish. The manager and staff were very friendly and their menu reasonably priced! Will be booking a lads night there next weekend, hopefully. It’s great to have an Indian and Bangladeshi cuisine back in Odiham once again… Highly recommend !

Super Indian restaurant, which my wife, myself and our friends regularly visit for an evening meal. Large menu of dishes which are always nicely cooked. Excellent service from all staff. Very pleasant atmosphere in which to eat with friends

Excellent customer service, Shane and The Sundarban Tandoori Team are so friendly, accommodating and professional. Eleven of us had dinner on Saturday 19th April, all our food was cooked to perfection and delicious. I’d not been to the restaurant before last night but I now know why my friends go there on a regular basis. Thank you, Shane and The Sundarban Tandoori Team for a great night.

Nos gustó, muy auténtico, el personal era genial, nos dieron un capricho extra con un nuevo encurtido que estaban probando era muy bueno. En cuanto a la comida, fuimos a platos inspirados en África oriental, cordero y pollo. Mi esposa pensó que no había suficiente cordero, el mío estaba bien. Encantadora especia. Muy bien.

We had to wait 1 hour 40 mins for our order, no way would we have ordered if we knew it was going to be this long as we had small children with us! When it was plated up it was gross, the chicken korma tasted like a korma sauce from aldi’s…..costing over £100…most of it was thrown away…don’t bother would be my advise

First night out after moving here only days before. Great service & food. Reasonably priced. Will definitely be returning.

We went to dinner, three couples. The place is average. The food is delicious, but it's unpleasant. Someone should immediately take a look at the cleanliness of the bathrooms. The smell of urine was unpleasant and nauseating, and I doubt it was hygienic. For a restaurant, it's very, very neglected! The wait staff lacks attention, smiles, and kindness!

Last night, prior to going to the rugby, I went to this restaurant. I ordered Tandoori chicken, which was fantastic, beautifully cooked, and really tasty. It came with a choice of a curry sauce, which I chose Madras, again this was spiced to perfection. The service was very friendly and I can highly recommend this establishment.

Took my brother here when he was visiting from abroad. He said it was the best Indian meal he'd had in years. He's right.... And he paid, which was all the better!

We had our wedding reception at Hankies and it was absolutely fantastic. The food, the atmosphere and the service all exceeded our expectations and our guests were raving about the food long after the event. A special thank you to Florian who was wonderful to work with – he was extremely responsive, reassured us that everything was in hand and delivered the most memorable event for us. We could not recommend Hankies and the team enough!
