Another wonderful meal, without a doubt the best restaurant of this type in the area. Have been several times and always the same great standard unlike a lot of places where the food isn’t consistent.

All I can say is the food was like eating a boot that had been out in the sun. Terrible, still angry. Desk in weird location although small pub. Service was no exsistent, i would of liked someone to come check our meals...youd of seen i didn't eat any.Overall not happy. Was told to try here instead of another place owned by the same company. Steer clear of both. But this one is worse by a country mile.

This is a pub that leases out the kitchen and a room as an Indian Restaurant and takeaway. I would describe the food as ok reasonable taste hot but with no depth or finesse. Felt it a bit off putting having a desk at one end of the room with a lady answering the phone for takeaways and being an audience to everyone's meal.

Food was fantastic. On arrival staff very welcoming & attentive but as evening went on they became less concerned of our needs. They were more interested in their mobile phones, hence difficult to get their attention when we required service! There was also problems with the people collecting takeaways, they were not asked to stand outside near the pub area but stood right where we were eating! I would recommend it for the food but not the atmosphere

What a strange place. Park in a car park full of builder's vans and walk into a rather raucous English pub atmosphere, with lots of hearty conversation, guffawing and loud rock music, but with this little Indian restaurant in a room on the side.Clearly a locals' bar - and they're very friendly, as you discover whilst brushing shoulders with them while looking for the loo - in which you may feel a little uncomfortable if you have, as we did, come here for a quiet evening out; but the Indian food is delicious, the service is friendly, the presentation good, the portions on the generous side, and the prices very reasonable. There are, I'm sure, much classier places to eat in the area; but if a good, honest, curry is what you're after and you're not deterred by a loud pub atmosphere, then this place is worth a try.

Looks can be very deceiving. The restaurant is in a real spit and sawdust locals pub. Sort of wild west style meets Indian cuisine. It’s a bit like walking into the pub in American Werewolf in London when all the locals turn and stare. Must admit my first instinct was to run away. The restaurant is in a side room of the pub. It’s fairly basic decor. The staff were friendly. Food was good despite a fairly small menu. But nothing outstanding.Would I recommend? Erm probably not - it’s ok if you’re not bothered by your surroundings and don’t mind shouting over the heavy rock music coming from the pub.

First entering The Crown at Lea all the signs are that it's not going to be very good. Tired old English pub etc. The menu is limited, which is a good sign and when our food arrived we were bowled over! Quite the best Indian food we have eaten. Really fresh ingredients prepared to order and superbly and delicately spiced. Absolutely lovely! We are now regulars.

This restaurant forms part of the Crown Inn pub and was recommended to us by our hosts at Lea House B&B.; We had a drink in the pub before taking our seats in the restaurant. The menu choices are vast and the prices very reasonable but best of all the food is fabulous. Staff are very polite and the service was excellent. We shall be returning to Herefordshire at some point and no matter where we stay we shall certainly make the effort to return to Lea Spice. Take a tip, do the same, you wont be disappointed.

Had chosen this place because of the high reviews. However I have no idea hiw the reviews are so high from my visit. As soon as we got out of the car there was a very strong smell of cannabis. On entering the building there was a roughness about everything I was witnessing. Very fast service but this may have been because no one else was eating. To start I had chciken tikka massala which wasn't too bad but the constant small and large flies everywhere was off putting. No where looked paticularly clean. I then had chciken tikka massala which was bright red, a sign to me that is it not a great indian restuarant. The chicken also had a stange taste and texture like it was pumped full of water. However the venue was far worse than the food. I wouldnt go back.

My wife and I went to the restaurant for a valentines meal. This year they seemed to be understaffed & we waited for 40 minutes after the poppadoms for the starter with no apology or explanation. Everyone seemed to be in the same boat at that stage. Now for the good bit. The chicken in the tikka & bhuna was the most tender I have ever experienced in an Indian restaurant. Likewise the lamb in the madras. The sauces were delicious. The only negative was the French fries which were a little tough. I will return as the food was so good & hope the poor service was a one off.

Lea Spice is an Indian restaurant / take way trading in the same building as The Crown public house in the village of Lea near Ross-on-Wye. You can either eat in the restaurant or order a take away meal. Having made a reservation, we arrived at the restaurant and ordered a starter and two mains. Although the take away was quite busy, the restaurant had only two tables occupied which baffled me as to why I waited an hour for the starter to appear? and it only happened because I spoke with the manager, who in turn blamed his waitress for the delay in service!

We were very tired so chose to take our Indian meal home with us, rather than eat in. The menu is quite long and varied. We ordered what we wanted and then went home for half an hour, popping back to collect the food which was no problem as we were staying a 2 minute walk away. The food was pleasant and plentiful. Butter chicken and plain naan is to be recommended. We went on a Friday night and the restaurant was not full but looked like a pleasant place to eat if you wanted to eat in.

The food, shish kebab to start and chicken jalfrezi with mushroom rice and garlic naan, was excellent. The starter in particular was beautifully presented and all was very good value for money. Overall, simple venue works well with good food and service, however, entrance needs a makeover and the Google maps location appears to be wrong for our visit! Hence only 4 stars. Thank you Sha.

We were told by other hotel guest that this was the best curry they’d had. We are very experienced curry eaters and so was a little sceptical. We were wrong. I love dansak dishes and so I had the tandoori duck dansak. The dansak curry was the best dansak I had had. My wife had chicken merilan with melons, which was creative, beautifully tasty and well presented. Even the mushroom rice and onion bhajis were of top notch quality.
