I ordered Chicken Tikka and Chicken Madras today to takeaway today... Both were freshly prepared within only 15 minutes. The taste was fantastic, so i can only recommend this to every indian food lover!!!

Brilliant meal thank you! Very affordable at £9.95 for a prawn masala, pilau rice, peshwari naan and poppadoms! Amazing service and one of the nicest peshwari naans I've ever had :)

Great food, fair price, super lovely nice nice day. These guys are really kind and really lovely. The prices are low compared to equivalent places, and the food is absolutely delicious. Their menu is pretty dated, and available on their website. Have a look at the special offers section, some funny names, and a really good deal. Nice to see some places not on deliveroo or justeat, I guess they don't need the business. Prices are equivalently not inflated as a result.

While the food is good and the staff friendly beware of the times given when phoning in an order. You are better off doubling the time you are given. Very frustrating having to wait well beyond the promised time.

I'm not really a fan of this type of food but this place is something else. I guarantee that the taste of the food from here will change your idea about Indian food. I didn't even know what to order but the gentleman recommended me some options and I'm glad he did. Nice food and nice people. Definitely a place where I will go again for food.

Best indian on Gloucester Road in my opinion. Good value.

First time trying New Taj - we're from Essex and now this is our local. I must admit, on this Saturday night we did have to wait a little longer for it to be cooked than we were told for collection, but it was 100% so so so worth it!!! No greasy pools on the curry or the food, all cooked fresh and spicy to perfection Honestly the lady that I spoke to on the phone and served me was the sweetest lady and all of this means my partner and I will definitely be returning customers.. the prices are also so fab compared to so many other takeaways. Can't recommend enough 👌🏻

Never judge a book by it's cover, i had always passed this place by. Had curry and it was great! Everything we ordered was delicious, not oily and good portions. Definitelty coming back.

If I every fancy an Indian takeway this is my first choice. Not the cheapest of takeaways but you can always get the curry crunch which is excellent value for money. A must visit if you are along Gloucester Road.

Sabroso, confiable para llevar. Después de haber rastreado la mayor parte del norte de Bristol en busca de un buen curry, debo decir que este es mi turno. No te dejes engañar por las apariencias. Ordered here for the first time. Very friendly, food was on time from order, very fairly priced, good sized pieces of chicken breast and nothing too greasy. Also a free side potato dish. My 5yr old granddaughter loved it. We will definitely be ordering again.

Super-friendly service and the food is perfectly prepared. I would recommend trying the plain naan for it's beautiful simplicity and authenticity. I will definitely use New Taj in the future but the only reason I cannot give 5 stars is because one type of meat (I think lamb) in their Tandoori Supreme Mixed Grill was so tough that I could hardly chew it. But don't let it put you off! :-)

I live in Chepstow, which is known (to me) as the worst place for curries in the South West. I'm from Birmingham so I know what I'm talking about ;) ! This place is breath of fresh (garlicky) air and not so far to come... By the way, if the owners of this place want to set up in Chepstow and mop up the terrible competition, I'll make all my friends buy from you!

Fantastic value on gloucester road, especially the curry crunch meal for only 8 pounds! Always good flavour and decent quick service. Would recommend

The dishes are consistently delicious unlike many takeaways, very good price and lovely staff.

Good place this, really cheap as they do not deliver or offer restaurant service. Order and pick up. Food is lovely and tasty and not too greasy. Also lovely bunch of people so you will be treated well with a smile.

Looks like nothing from the outside, but every time we've found the New Taj to have absolutely excellent curry, lovely people and very reasonable prices.

There are plenty of takeaway curry houses in Bristol where you can get a good curry. I've left reviews for many. New Taj however tops the lot, not just for the odd dish time to time but for consistently excellent food and service. I usually have a chicken tikka biryani without sauce and depending on my mood tailor my curry. I'll always have a saag bhaji though. Food is never greasy. Flavours are spot on and so varied. Value for money is amazing and the owners are lovely.

Got fed up with local takeaway rising prices , tried here as used to come here when living In The area 8 years ago and was always very good. Pleased to say still amazing quality Indian good, lots of choice and unbeatable value !! You can get a curry, rice, naan, and poppadom for £5.95 with one one those meal deals. Won't be going back to my local, prefer to drive further and go here! It was apparently bristols first Indian takeaway and still doing so well despite lots of competition I the area.

Only recently discovered this take-away and glad I have. Really like the food here - everything is spiced to the right level - if you pick a mild dish its mild and a hot dish is HOT!!! I always have lamb, and every lamb dish I've had had been really tender and tasty. My other half loves his food really spicy and says that this place had it just right - good flavor and not just hot for the sake of being hot. Really good value for money - and even better if you go for one of the budget set meals. Very friendly service too from this family run business - love it.

Had a curry from here after a football game, was lovely, not too oily or spicy, I would recommend the chicken tikka flu indaloo! Great family running it too!

This has been a very pleasant experience. They took my order very pleasantly and also the food was delivered in 30 mins!! which is great! I would definitely recommend, only criticism is the food is a little spicy (but that's probably because i can't handle spices haha!

My girlfriend and I tried a take away from The New Taj for the first time last night. It was excellent all round, a great find. The service was good from the moment I stepped in, welcoming and friendly. The menu offers many options, the normal Indian fare together with some good house specialties, all at very reasonable prices. The food was all excellent, very tasty. We had the chicken dhansak, chicken ceylon, peshwari nan and pilau rice and all were very good. Portion sizes were generous. I have never rated a restaurant before on take away, but felt compelled to on this one as it was so good. Try it, you won't be disappointed.

Great customer service and amazing curry!

I was keen to try New Taj as I had a few meals in and at home from about 3 local 'Indian' Restaurants. New Taj states it is Bangladeshi in origin and has many dishes not featured in other similar places. Both my friend's meal and mine were excellent. The vegetable side dishes (and 1 came 'on the house' as we spent over a certain amount) were really freshly cooked. in fact the entire meal lacked the gloopy slop that only suggests to me 1 curry/sauce base is used; added to; boiled up again and so on, in many other 'indian' restaurants and take-aways. The chicken in the tandoor dish was beautifully tender and tasty. This standard simply needs to be maintained.

last week we ordered a number different dishes with one common main component: chicken tikka including chicken tikka beryani, chicken tikka jalfrazi and chicken tikka madras. Unfortunately we had to throw most of it away as the chicken tikka 'chunks' were so hard and chewy - a total waste of money. I now have done with this take away - no more orders!

We use to order Indian food from this takeaway 2-3 times a month on average. Today we have made an order which included chicken tikka biriany, chicken tikka kurahi, chicken tikka rogan josh and tandoori king prawn. The chicken tikka pieces were too big and too dry/chewy, and the BIG disappointing was in relation to the king prawn, it was badly burnt in the tandoori and should have not thrown away and a new one to be cooked instead. I probably would order again, but not the tandoori king prawn, very expensive and as happened today, a waste of money! So, todays meal wasn't good value for money.

For a take away curry its definitely one of the best around. The Flu indaloo is spot on!
