We had dinner at Bengal Raj recently, and it was a delightful experience. Their food is excellent in taste.The ambiance was warm and welcoming, perfect for a relaxed evening.

Our dinner this evening was exquisite . We dine at this restaurant most Friday's and are always warmly welcomed by Nassir & company. Booking is always easy using the restaurants website and reply is always prompt. Bengal raj never fails to deliver superb cuisine. Kristy and Lee. X

High quality food! First time using this restaurant and I was very impressed! Keep up the good work.

Been going here for years, however they have implemented a massive price increase. My normal take away in the space of 6 months has gone from £13.70 up to £18.50 for a few basic things of the menu. Sadly will not be returning.

Both the chicken Jalfrezi and Lamb Jalfezi we ordered last night were over salty. Normally very tasty from here, but the chef needs to taste his food before serving it up. No.1 rule when cooking. Seriously, it was so salty we both couldn't eat it. If you are going to order from here, just ask them to make sure the chef tastes it before serving. There is no way he would have served ours if he knew what he was doing.

Really well looked after - there were 23 of us! Patient, helpful, cheerful staff - talking through menu choices, catering for dietary restrictions, helping us remember what we'd ordered! Delicious food, lovely evening. We hope to visit again.

We picked up a takeaway to celebrate mother's day , and were complimented with free drinks to celebrate this occasion. The food is consistently tasty, plentiful and very enjoyable. The staff are always welcoming and helpful too. Thank you We will be returning very soon. Kirsty &Lee.

Used many times in the past however it appears recently that the chicken and/or meat content in takeaway orders has reduced massively. Very small amount of meat. Disappointing.

Been a few times but this time it seems to have lost its way a little.staff to busy concertrating on customers collecting rather than dine in customers.they only serve cobra and soft drinks.food came out but 15mins later we had to ask for our nan bread. Service was poir.i hasten to add that a really good indian has now lost its way.

We ordered chicken jalfrezi, lamb karahi and chicken tikka rezala mains. Poppadoms sag and nan. Great flavours. Fresh delicious and we will order again. Superb curry.

The food itself was nice. Some things better than others. Good: chicken masala, chicken kerala, chutney sides (lemon pickle was great), garlic naan. Not so good: peswari naan (tasted rather plain, not enough coconut). Stars knocked off as they say online they are open till 930, and on the door it says 11. However, we got there at half 8 and they said they would close at 9. One waiter (younger) was nice and said it was OK, we could still have our meal. It got to 9.10, we had very nearly finished. The older waiter came to clear the plates and I said to wait as my friend was still eating. He was quite abrupt and said "We close at 9. You were told when you came." We were a bit taken back as the younger waiter said it was fine for us to eat when we arrived, and you don't expect to be rushed to finish your meal. Fine, you're closed, clean the tables around us, but at least be polite and let us eat the food on our plate. PLEASE UPDATE YOUR OPENING TIMES AS IT WOULD SOLVE ALL CONFUSION.

My friends and I go to the Bengal Raj every month and we all say it’s the best restaurant in town. Be sure to book as it’s very popular with locals. The food is incredible and we are always shocked at how reasonable the bill is considering we all want to sample a bit of each of the delicious dishes. The staff are super friendly and service is swift. It’s a must try.

Absolutely delish and really friendly and helpful.

A group of us were chatting about our favourite Indian/south asian restaurants in Bristol and one of them raved about the Bengal Raj. So naturally, we had to try for ourselves and did NOT disappoint. The food was fantastic! In particular I loved the prawn puree starter. The tikka saag and mutton Rogan gosht were delicious as well. The staff were really friendly and helpful and it was an all round great time. Highly recommend.

I went in to ask for a table for one at 8:30pm but told I wouldn’t be served because there weren’t any other customers and they wanted to go home. Google Maps says they close at 9:30pm. I told them this and they said they knew but didn’t want to change this. I convinced them to let me eat, but they insisted I shouldn’t ask for a starter. I asked for anything vegan and they said no, that everything is cooked using animal products. I told them I would leave this review, they said they were sorry. I left. Will not visit again.

This is such a lovely place! The portions were huge and the food tasted amazing. Have been here more than once and everything is always outstanding. The staff is also really nice. Would recommend this place to anyone.

Went out with the lads to grab some dinner and we were shocked by how excellent the food and service was! The waiter Naz especially was amazing and helped us choose our dishes which we absolutely loved.

Our new favourite Indian restaurant ! My husband, sons and I all really enjoyed our meals and now we've discovered it, we will be back for more ! I am also taking my parents this weekend. The food was absolutely delicious, the meat was good quality and everyone was friendly and helpful. I also liked the fact you can BYO, so I just went next door to the Co-op and bought some wine to accompany the lovely food. The few leftovers we had, we took home to enjoy the next day ! I'm a big fan of Brinjal Bhaji and this and everything else lived up to expectations. Definitely recommend this place !

Polite greeting on entering premises and dining area was clean. Food order was completed quickly and, much more importantly, was delicious. Staff were attentive and polite at all times. The Bengal Raj has got to be one of the best Indian restaurants in Bristol. Highly recommended.

Good, traditional and tasty. Sag baji and veg biryani I find are a good test , and both were really good. The wait for takeaway can be long but for me it's worth it as this is the best of the 4 or 5 curry houses I've tried in Bristol. It also suggests they're busy which is a good sign. Just phone well in advance. At last I've found a great reliable local. 😊

The food is good. They wouldn't serve tap water, instead insisting that we buy bottled water, which is not what I expect in a UK restaurant. They should change this policy.

We have tried many Indian takeaways but this is our family favourite. We eat there probably too frequently but have never been disappointed with the food. It is the type of food that you miss when you go in holiday.

Asked for extra sweet, instead received an extra hot prawn and chicken dansak! The complete opposite of what we ordered. Way too hot for us to eat but can’t be bothered to go back and change. Wont use again.

Decent takeaway,,good quality - just be aware if your a walk in order your wait is likely to be epic.....clearly priority placed with those phoning in orders.

Visited with my family on a Saturday night - excellent food all round - particularly the tandoori king prawns. Just a pity the tables are so close together and there is a constant flow of takeaway collections.....

Not been here for over 3 years but has always been my go to Indian restaurant when I visit the UK, and when I used to live in Bristol over 15 years ago. The Popadoms and condiments are so moorish, and although this time I didn’t have an appetizer, I know they’re truly excellent (chicken chat always my favorite). Then came the chefs special chicken tikka massala, which I had mushroom rice and aloe ghobi (cauliflower and potato side dish). Oh, and don’t forget the Indian kingfisher larger on draft!!Service was great, very attentive and friendly. What was also nice to see was that all but one table was completely full, a great sign of a quality restaurant especially for a mid-week evening (Wednesday). Don’t waste your time trying out others in the area, shoot straight for this one as the food is truly phenomenal.

Guau. Vine en un grupo de 12 que nunca han estado en el Raj de Bengala. El servicio fue rápido y la comida estupenda. Pedí el pollo Tikka Dhansak con el que ordené a Panir (aunque no estaba en el menú) ya que toda la comida está fresca. El pollo y el panir se cocinaron a la perfección y se derritieron en la boca. Me recomendaron un Peshwari Naan para acompañar los sabores agridulces del Dhansak. El Naan era suave y mantecoso y, junto con el Dhansak, ¡era una pareja hecha en el cielo! El personal y el ambiente eran increíbles. Recomendaría este lugar a cualquier persona, ya que tienen un menú diverso que puede adaptarse a sus gustos y necesidades personales. Esta comida se está afilando para ser difícil de batir y definitivamente volveremos.

Llegué con la expectativa de una experiencia de curry house regular y me fui con una experiencia absolutamente brillante y mi curry favorito hasta el amanecer del tiempo. Me encanta la comida, el ambiente, los camareros y las instalaciones, y el joven que espera a veces es muy guapo y carismático.¡Recomendado para cualquiera que busque la mejor experiencia culinaria de sus vidas!

One of the best food I’ve ever had!! Everything is so delicious and great service. If you go to Bristol, you definitely have to try it. Don’t forget to order for the Naan (bread).
