Potato Aloo is so good together with their chicken biryani. However, their chicken in the biryani is extremely dry.

Have been going to RM for many years and never fails to impress. Great food, service is always good, Indian beers are served ice cold too. One of the best Indian restaurants in Bristol.

Ordered a takeaway from them. Ordered 4 curries and 4 rice with other sides. Only 3 curries delivered. Rang them. They said we had only paid for 3. Went on their website and added up our bill. We had paid for it. They said if we wanted it we’d have to pay again. Rubbish service. My wife went without any food apart from an onion bhaji! Ridiculous! RIP off!

Would thoroughly recommend! We had a warm welcome from the team and we really felt valued. The owner is lovely and welcomed all of his customers with a smile. The food was awesome and we'll be going back very soon!

Deceiving and money grabbing. Waited over 2 hours for our food to be delivered being told two seperate times that “it would be there soon”. Five minutes after the last phone call they said that the drivers car had broken down. We asked to collect the food and they ignored this stating it would be cold. The delivery was never on route. Ignore the good reviews as they clearly do not care about customer service. Nothing offered to compensate and the entire conversation filled with lies and deceit. DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE.

Ordered at 18:59 with an estimated delivery time of 45 minutes. Order was subsequently delayed twice so I called to be told the delivery driver had left and the food was 10 minutes away. They notified me again the order was delayed so I called back and told another 10 minutes. 5 minutes later my order is cancelled, and they come up with the lie the delivery drivers car broke down. Don't order delivery from here guys, we waited 2 hours with repeated false hope for them to cancel. Go elsewhere.

It took quite a long time to get our drink orders taken, drinks out, food order taken. Food was excellent though, would give 5 stars if the service was good too.

A tucked away restaurant which was easy to drive and park at. The food was great. If you book in advance for a large party request the bottom section, as we were by the door and it was cold. Sometimes the waiters misunderstood what we were saying so we had to ask twice, but friendly staff. They had a high chair which helped. We will be back again for our next family event.

This was a revisit after a modern revamp. I enjoyed the food, I thought It was tasty as did my partner, but there was a lack of atmosphere ,no music and the lighting was over bright. I feel the prices are a bit on the steep side especially the drinks. I might go again but for a special occasion.

Great food, great service. Have read a few negative reviews, but on my experience these are not correct. My wife is very picky regarding Indian food and so when my son suggested we try this place we were pleasantly suprised. However we never base our reviews on just one visit, and have been 4/5 times so far and every time every thing has been good. Cannot say excellent because on one occasion, we usually share rice between two of us, so wanted a side of chips as well. They did not come at the same time and so called the waiter over and he appoligised as having forgot to put them on order. Said it would be a few minutes and they would bring chips out, but this would not be any good as we really wanted them with the meal so said to cancel them . We had nearly finished when lo and behold the chips arrived. Not good this time. We eat out 3/4 times a week in different tyopes of restaurants and cuisine, and will be using Raj Mahal more often.

It's been a while since I've been here but the food was impeccable as it always has been. This place has a good menu and you get exactly what you order. Some Indian restaurants serve up alot of slop and think you don't notice. This place has passion for the food they serve and are proud of what they produce. Definitely one of the best Indian restaurants in Bristol in my opinion go see for yourself

Our first visit. One of the best Indian restaurants we have been too. Fantastic food and they catered the low/no spice level for our young children too. Lovely service, clean and welcoming. WiFi available too which is fab bonus for the kids!

The owner is rude food service is poor if there was a option for no stars I would of put it As you can see from there rude reply I am not wrong about the owners some customers are plus ones so you can’t make assumptions about demeaning again avoid this place

Pretty dissapointing byriani. It was simply pilau rice with three lumps of large dry chicken. Not worth the money charged. The sauce was overflavoured with what tasted like half a jar of shop bought curry paste.

I have used this restaurant for years but when it closed for a long period for renovations I drifted away. However feeling like a curry one lunchtime recently I decided to get a take away and I’m glad I did. The food was good and I intend to start using the Raj Mahal in future.

Realy great food very good service not pressured in any way or rushed like so many other Local Indian Restaurants. My wife had Lamb Shashlik Amazing I had Chicken Patia very spicy Great best I have had in years our friends both had Chicken Korma both enjoyed will be returning very soon Great Restaurant clean and airy.

First visit since it’s reopened and whist the restaurant has modernised and revamped the service, welcome and authenticity has remained. The food was absolutely excellent as was the service. Great to re-discover the Bristol Indian gem 👍

It's a good job the food here is nice. We met family here on a Monday night. It was fairly busy but seemed understaffed!.. We waited nearly 45 mins before we were actually served! Then another 45-50 mins for our food. The attention and 'better service' seemed to be given at a larger table sat down into the resturaunt. I had asked the young lad that seemed to be a waiter for some more drinks and his reply was I clear tables and food, and said she will bring them, pointing too the lady at the bar. 20 mins later and still no drinks and no sign of this lady. So I spoke to another gentleman and explained id been waiting, cancelled the drinks and asked for the bill. He was apologetic and did take our 1 round of soft drinks off the bill.. just verypoor service unfortunately.

Very warm welcome nice people helpful with questions about the menu. The food was also very nice and plentiful. I had to take my left overs away.

Just collected a few sides to go with our Indian and having paid £3.60 for 2 vege samosas was expecting something perhaps homemade and a good size….what I got was 2 child size samosas that looked like they’re part of a frozen multipack. This place used to be great sadly gone really downhill. Will not be using again.

Quite possibly the best curry I’ve ever had.

Not a paid review like some one has stated! Fantastic food, slightly more expensive than other curry houses but great flavour and great service.

We used to love this restaurant and we were excited about visiting now it’s had the revamp. Sadly we found it to be soulless. It was very bright, no music and felt like sitting in a factory. No ambience at all. I ordered the Rezala which is a curry I frequently eat but this one was nothing like I had ever had before. It was so hot it was inedible. Raj said this was because they couldn’t estimate how hot the chilli will be? Instead of replacing my curry, he brought a bowl of curry sauce and suggested I mix it in with mine to cool it down? My curry was cold by this point so it turned into a gloopy, cold mess. No refund was offered for this dish either. We won’t be returning.

Lovely, spacious restaurant, brilliant service and great food! Manager came to speak with us, which was a lovely touch. Staff couldn't have been more helpful and the food was absolutely delicious.... so much so I took a doggy bag home with me!

Raj Mahal was one of my favourite Bristol eateries but my birthday visit was a mixed experience. The restaurant has been revamped and, as a result, has lost its intimate and distinctly Indian feel. The decor is now smart, plush, slick, upmarket-ish and soulless - totally devoid of personaliity, character and ambience. The staff were pleasant and made us feel welcome but the service was slow. To be fair, there were 11 of us and they did seem to be short-staffed but the restaurant was by no means full and we waited 40 minutes for our order. It proved worth waiting for, when it arrived, as everything was delicious and a cut above the Indian cuisine I've sampled elsewhere. The rest of the family concurred with my opinion. There was also a mix up at the end with the bill, which put a dampener on the celebration, even though this was eventually sorted. I still love the menu and the meals there but it might be a while before I revisit.

I have been coming here for 30 years and this visit turned out to be one of the best Indian meals that my friends and I have ever had. Raj and his team were flat out, but the quality and service were excellent... Popodoms were fresh and warm with super pickle tray, our starters were delivered and devoured, then after the requested Cobra break, our mains came and were simply sublime. Thanks again. Andy

We have been trying to support our local restaurant through difficult times. We have not been in to eat for a long time, but we are buying a takeaway most weekends. They have been mostly great, sometimes better than other , but never dreadful. Today it was BRILLIANT. The king prawn sagwala, Lamb shank, and vegetable dhayna were all delicious,

We ordered veg thali with two spicy popadoms The popodoms were too burnt and shrivelled to eat! Very poor to send something out which is so sub standard. Spoilt the presentation of the meal You can do better! I hope…..

OMG, Pre ordered a Kurci lamb take-away for 4. The most amazing take away meal we’ve ever had, enough lovely food to serve 6. Whole leg of Lamb surrounded by amazing vegetables. Think of a traditional roast, then add an Indian twist, then they add extra vegetable dishes. Fantastic and amazing value for money. If you want to impress your friends, you’ll will with this dish.

I've known Raj and family for years, so I'll try to be objective. Great to see a more modernised, fresh, stylish Raj Mahal! The menu has even been updated to feature more experimental ingredients like Naga chillies, Lamb shank and new chef specials! Covid measures helped me feel safe, place looked great, food was amazing. Looking forward to my next visit.

Raj is back, and although a little nervous after such a long wait we were not disappointed. The new decor is modern and clean, the food is still superb and what’s more Raj is still there ensuring everything is perfect.

I have been using this restaurant for 20+ years.Raj the owner and his team have always provided me and my friends and family with a beautiful authentic Indian curry together with friendly efficient service.It is well off the beaten track, but I recommend a visit to sample it's delights.It is very popular on a Friday/Saturday night for dining in and takeaway - I would suggest a midweek visit to see and taste the menu if like me you don't want to wait too long for your food.

Hadn't been here for a few years and visited with some friends. Service was very attentive and our drinks and starters were brought out promptly.We all ordered different mains and none of us were disappointed. There is plenty on the menu for everyone and even for well seasoned curry eaters.The evening finished nicely with the owner coming to chat with us.

I found this place underwhelming. The owner was friendly and accommodating but the service otherwise seemed disinterested. The food was average at best. The vegetables were not generously portioned, the masala was overbearing but most disappointing was the parathas. They were packaged, overpriced and I could buy a pack of four in the shop for what I paid. I feel f you go to a curry house you should expect at least fresh indian bread.

hello we visit this restaurant a lot along with other curry places around the country with work and find this one to be one of the best ,every time we go friendly staff ,great choice on the menu or off (just ask) and the food is fab and look forward to going every time we have chance.A must for Bristol well recommended , and try a cobra or a kingfisher on draft not a bottle ,nice!.thanks again dave and nic

I would definitely recommend eating here, the service is great and the food is outstanding. We came here before going to the airport and ate a curry each, shared a rice and naan, had poppadoms and a beer for about £15! We ate so much that we didn't need dinner. Great value and very, very delicious!

As the other reviews say, one can always rely on friendly and efficient service here, with varied and tasty choices. We have been using Raj Mahal for more than 6 years and it always satisfies, whether takeaway or eat-in. I had the Tikka 'Jay' tonight, which was especially richly flavoured. We shall keep returning.

my missis loves the lamb jalfrezi here a great dish ,but I go between the chicken vindaloo or the chicken shashlik which means I like the spice as well as the mild .every time I come here they make me so welcome and the food is lovely again and again , well recommended every time .also try the jay special or the butter chicken ,ooh both lovely thanks again dave and nic

Had nice food at this restaurant. Good flavours and a good choice on the menu. Attentive staff. We were not rushed to leave after the meal. Would recommend the food. The restaurant needs updating in decor as a little shabby.

every time I go here now they are so helpful and take care of you the moment you walk in the door, anything off the menu or just ask for a different dish they can make it all.My normal dish is a chilli chicken masala but I try a vindaloo every now and again lovely with a cobra and so tasty ,well recommended .My missis loves the garlic chicken with a nice bottle of wine what a lovely way to spend a evening .All must try, a must for Bristol and were looking forward to going again in the week .cobra on draft ,fabor kingfisher on draft as well great no bottles like other restaurants.great location not far from the uwe and just a walk down the hill for us,try the take away menu pictured all freshly done at the time you order.we both recommend highly.thanks dave & nic

we love going to the raj we are treated like family and the food is simply divine ,its our favourite Indian restaurant in Bristol and we go to a lot .extremely well recommended for service and food and quality is the best try a thali for a change a tray full of flavour , or my partner loves a chilli chicken masala extra chillies ,we can not wait to go again ,may be tonight

We have been eating at the Raj Mahal restaurant in Fishponds, Bristol for over twenty years and it is a family favourite for birthdays, celebrations and when feeling in need of a treat. The food is consistently excellent and whenever we eat elsewhere we are generally disappointed. The staff are warm, welcoming and there is always a table waiting for us however busy the restaurant is. Nothing is too much trouble. I would wholeheartedly recommend the Raj... If it's a delicious Indian food you're seeking look no further.

Great place for a romantic dinner , but also for a family or friends night out. tasty food and really nice and carrying stuff. I definitely recommend it! Is close to M32 easy to get to and free parking on the side of the road

The Raj is a good Indian restaurant - nothing fancy, just a good standard place for a curry. They offer all the standard dishes you would expect, plus a good range of house speciality recipes. The portions were adequate, but not large and the spiciness a little cooler than normal.The menu is very reasonably priced and the service was quick and reliable. The restaurant is clean and well arranged to offer some privacy for smaller group.All in all, a solid venue if you fancy a good curry.

Was feeling hungry so stopped off to get something quick to eat. Ordered a King prawn curry (prawns cooked in a tandoor - i think!) with some pilau rice. Waiters were friendly, welcoming and cheerful. Food was ready in good time and tasted really good. Restaurant had a lovely vibe and good atmosphere. Enjoyed the meal and would return again.
