Passing the pub it looks like a standard neighbourhood pub what surprise large garden at the rear and spacious inside we tried the food and was not disappointed a reasonable choice menu reasonable prices food present nicely and hot no long wait even with the number of people in the pub staff friendly will definitely visit again Also had a good selection of drinks

Hands down the best pub in Bristol. Excellent food, drink and the staff are excellent. A great spot if you fancy a drink in the large beer garden. The food really is excellent and the service is what every pub should aspire to. Also a great place to watch literally any sport. A home away from home.

Fantastic hospitality, food and beverages. Best pub service we have ever seen. Great for summer too with a large outdoors area. Check their menu online, book, and bring family,friends or just a qick pint with great hospitality.

We found the staff very polite and accommodating. Binod was our main server and he is very friendly as are all the staff. Worth a visit

Fantastic cuisine and service. I took out my family for a quiet afternoon dinner and the tandoori chicken was outstanding. The sauces and chicken marinade is something you don't find everywhere and it's absolutely worth it to come many times and taste the Nepali cuisine. The place is clean, comfortable and well maintained. 10/10 Recommend :)

Me and my friend had a wonderful time. The food was amazing, the service great, the place is spacious and very clean. There is a huge garden outside, can't wait for some summer sunny afternoons, spent with friends and family.

The Fishponds Tap, without a doubt, holds the title of my most beloved pub in the vicinity. I take immense pleasure in savoring a refreshing pint of lager here, while the culinary delights never fail to amaze me. The bar staff exudes warmth and friendliness, always making me feel welcome. Moreover, the impeccable cleanliness of the establishment is truly commendable. In my quest to explore other local pubs, I have found that the Fishponds Tap effortlessly outshines its competitors, emerging as the clear winner.

Popped in to watch the rugby today and decided to treat mother to some food. Have to say it was beautiful. I went for the tandoori chicken and mum had cod and chips ( wish I took a picture) The portion sizes were brilliant and well worth the money. On a busy day the staff were great and stuffed some things around to make room for around 7 of us. Great atmosphere with 3 massive LCD screens. Definitely recommend it ☺️

I called to ask if they do Sunday roasts, they said they do! I booked a larger table and when we got there, they told us they don't do roasts dinner! This was very disappointing and frustrating. The meals choices were decent, so we ordered. Some of the food was bland and the cocktails were very watered-down! The staff are lovely, Overall, a very underwhelming experience, won't be returning anytime soon that's for sure!

We went in in the evening. Plenty of street parking. The welcome was warm from Vinod. He looked after us well. The Nepali dishes different from many Indian restaurants. We enjoyed our food and the atmosphere.

We booked a table on Christmas eve and the staff were very helpful and accommodating. The food was delicious and came out from the kitchen really quickly, which is especially good when feeding young children. Couldn't have been happier with the service, will definitely be back.

Booked a table for my birthday. I have been in there before for drinks so thought it would be nice for my birthday. Ordered two pints and two soft drinks. £19! Didn't realise that there would be wall-to-wall football. Left without ordering food

Nice pub, good choice of beer, worth a visit.

The sharing platter to start was good but whatever makes the cook think that it's OK to batch cook fried fish at some convenient time and then microwave (?) it to heat it up? Again, the chips weren't fried but at least they weren't soggy. The peas? Well, the less said about them, the better. At their prices this sort of thing is not on. Good points - service with a smile on spotlessly clean tables, but then unsurprisingly they don't have that many customers.

We had a work Christmas party in the function room at the fishponds tap. The buffet food was delicious and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout avenging and the event.

I have enjoyed the service, food and general great ambience of this pub since it first opened. I will be moving from the area shortly and will sorely miss it. Thanks to Bishnu and Arvi.

Absolutely amazing experience. Very attentive, friendly staff who were able to help me arrange a party in their function room. The room was lovely, it had a great sound system and its own bar. I was able to see it in advance and get in early to add decorations. Prices for the room and drinks were very reasonable too! A fantastic venue that I'd definitely use again. Thank you!

We had a party in the function room in Oct 2023. Really good value and an excellent spsce for our 50 guests. All of the staff were really helpful and friendly. I was given the space the night before to decorate which was really useful. The food buffet was delicious and there was plenty of it. We had our own bar person for the whole afternoon and there was a great selection of drinks. The next day, they had already taken the decorations down for me which saved me lots of time. Would definitely recommend for any party!!

It isn't often I go into a place and am pleasantly surprised by the range of food offered - they specialise in Himalayan cuisine and the food was incredible - everyone in our group enjoyed the food - particularly the selection of starters we had. Staff were really friendly and helpful and we were also surprised by how cheap the bill was!

We had our wedding reception and wedding party here, the food was amazing and the staff were so friendly and they couldn’t do enough for us. We would definitely recommend the pub and the function.

Visited with my pregnant partner, we have a 2 year old and decided to spend our sparsely spattered date night at the Tap. Firstly the food was great, all delicious and well presented. The combination of curry house and pub will no doubt rank highly in many patrons playbooks, but for us the football projected on every wall with avid fans roaring at the multiple mishaps that befell Liverpool fc was a bit of a detractor. There were lots of families seated around us, so I'm a little surprised they decided to invite the football fans into every corner of the establishment with projections of a league match (not even international?) At every angle you looked. I'm taking it as the caveat to a combined curry house and pub. As negative as that may read for some we still had a lovely time. The food was top, and being a pub they've not lost the overall atmosphere nor the varied menu that offers excellent curry but also classic pub food alongside. The staff were perhaps a little over attentive, but our small table required more attention than others with space to spare so I'll take it as them knowing their seating requirements. We will definitely return, as the menu was great and drinks on tap supply the fuel for engagement.

Had a lovely meal from the himalayan menu and it was so lovely and tasty. I had 2 starters as didn't know which one to have, they were big but both made for a lovely main. There were lots of staff who were really helpful and friendly.

This place was an unexpected find - a place serving Himalayan food on top of your usual pub menu. There is a nice back garden and in the front to sit out on a sunny day but I have found sitting inside relaxing and cooling too. Definitely will return!

The Tap is a brilliant pub. The staff are so polite, attentive and helpful- the service in the pub has always been faultless every time I've gone. On top of that the food at the pub is out of this world. It's not even accurate to call what they do a 'pub curry', the Himalayan side of their menu (they also do more standard pub food) would rival any curry restaurant in Bristol. Overall just a great place to eat and drink.

Lovely staff! We had a confusion with a drinks order, they were really helpful, understanding and generous. In general we always have a very friendly, positive experience here, it’s become our new favourite local. One of the staff in particular (a man in his 20s I think, with a beard - sorry, didn’t catch his name!) was really friendly, sorted out a misunderstanding with the cocktail order, made great cocktails and generally went above and beyond to ensure we had a good experience. There’s a great sized beer garden which has the sun until pretty late - a bonus in summer!

Best himalyan curry in Bristol...always have the chicken masala, with the best, fluffiest aromatic rice and peshwari naan...whether eating in or on home delivery it is epic.

By far the best Indian cuisine i had in Bristol! And hands down that's the cleanest pub I've been to!

The Himalayan food is really delicious here, but There aren't any non-fried vegetable sides. The staff and owners are incredibly friendly, and I always feel welcome here. The garden is massive with lots of potential. I wish they would create a kids play area as there are lots of kids running around with nothing to do. It would be a great place to come with the kids for a midweek lunch if they had a climbing frame or something.

I love this pub Staff really welcoming as you enter. Plenty of seating area outside and in. Nice drinks on tap. Food really tasty and plenty of big T.Vs to watch the sports 👌. Will definitely be returning to this place soon.

Cannot fault this establishment - amazing food drink service and ambience. The beer garden at the back is great too.

Went specifically for the 'Himalayan' menu, and wasn't disappointed. Try the Momo, you won't be disappointed. We hugely over ordered so the cost of the meal wasn't reflective of the value, you can get a starter, main, naan and rice for under £20pp Heineken pub, so usual beers available, had a well presented Beavertown Neck Oil that was as good as it could be.

Ordered the grilled chicken and the chicken was raw. Food took ages to come out, with a simple dish being 15 minutes behind the others. Staff were helpful when I flagged up the raw chicken on my plate, but the server didn’t seem to care - as though this has happened many times before. Definitely not returning. Poor food and sore stomach now. Awful!!!

Really great pub, clean, with generally decent patrons. We had 3 different curries between us, which honestly didn't taste all that different to each other, but probably just an off day, as usually excellent. 100% will return.

I have visited the Fishponds Tap twice in a month. The first time was just for drinks. They serve a selection of premium drinks and the smell of the Himilayan food was divine. We decided to return yesterday for food and drinks. We were not disappointed. We ordered the Ghurka Chicken and the Lamb Massala both were supper delicious. The rice was fragrant and fluffy and the bread was lovely. A very generous portion size. Highly recommended!

Had a table for myself and son booked for our Christmas day meal, unfortunately my son was ill and spent the day in bed. I called the restaurant to explain my situation and they were amazing. Arranged for my dinner to be done as a takeaway, collected it at just after 14.15pm and the food was out of this world, so full of flavour and the lamb chops were probably the best I have tasted. Was so pleased that they could support myself and son and I will be booking for next year, that's for certain! Thanks again and have a wonderful New Year.

We just spent 4 hours with 12 of our family having our Xmas day meal. Food & staff excellant, great atmosphere. There was no rushing us which was so relaxing. Thanks to all the staff for their hard work.

Great revamp of the old Portcullis with great staff and a Nepali menu, doing some really great curries and side dishes. Decent beers and ciders on tap too.

Ever since the new management and refub, the place has really come to life. New team is doing very well and you can see the clientele has spruces up too - much nicer atmosphere and something to be said about the menu! Both traditional and Himalayan are done well and served with a smile. Great place to watch sports as well, non-offensive screens and considerate set up. Great value for money as well.

Food is bloomin lush. Good atmosphere and the have the football on. Go here for the curry.

The most delicious food I have had in a while; I loved the paneer and bhaji, and the peshwari and garlic naans were so tasty. Excellent, friendly and attentive service. Great cocktails too - I thoroughly recommend the lychee mojito and espresso martini!

We’ve eaten the Himalayan curry four times so far since we started going in August, all with different friends and family and we’ve loved it every time. The Himalayan curry is one of the best I’ve tasted and the chap who runs the pub creates a very welcoming atmosphere. The other staff are friendly and helpful too. Often very busy when we go in full of large family groups and friends and I can see why as it’s a very relaxed atmosphere. You could bring your gran here or work mates as the pub accommodates everyone. Only one bit of feedback, perhaps the night time lighting in the garden is a bit glaring they could soften it a bit somehow and maybe a bit of garden improvement in what is already a lovely open space with lots of potential but that’s just my thoughts. Overall a great local! Well done

Went here for a week do. First time we had been there since it changed its name and we all was impressed with the place. The food seems to be Indian in design I had the lamb curry it was really nice loads of meat. I would definitely go back to this pub.

Me and my good friend came in last week was pretty busy in there but we managed to get a seat pretty quickly. Had a gold selection of drinks and food. The food was really well made you can certainly taste the quality.

Love this place so much! It’s our closest pub and we’ve always had amazing food, the service is the best I’ve ever had at a restaurant/pub and is dog friendly outside with lots of space :) great selection of food and drinks also and always happy to go back time and time again ❤️

Strolling by, I knew this place formerly as The Portcullis and from the outside was NOT appealing. Noticed it had a new name and visually very inviting so decided to go in for a quick drink as had already eaten earlier. Wish we hadn't eaten earlier, as we saw the menu. The premises are beautiful, clean, very inviting with a very chilled atmosphere. The staff were very courteous and welcoming. Would definitely recommend. Looking forward to trying out the food next.

First visit to this pub as we were passing by, very nice surprise. Just had a couple of pints and a whisky. Food menu looked really good, will be trying that next time. Lovely atmosphere, will have to go back soon and taste the food.

Disappointing to be honest. First visit was with family and we had a lovely meal - I say lovely, the adult Himalayan curries were absolutely delicious and plentiful. However, two other meals we ordered were poor quality (overcooked) and we had to send one back as the bun was black (this should not have been sent out as the chef would have known). Shows a level of care just not there. Staff were pleasant and attentive. Second visit with friends. Arrived having booked a table, only nobody offered to seat us and we had to seek out a member of staff - despite three members of staff not doing anything. Finally got some attention and was seated and given menus. At this point we just sat, waiting. It was not even particularly busy - think we were the only ones having food that I could see. We actually got up and left and nobody even noticed. So, went to the Crafty Egg and had fantastic pizza instead. However, the tv screens are the real issue. They are on ALL the time, even when nothing is showing. It’s so distracting as no matter which way you look they are in your face so it’s actually quite hard to chat to friends without them disappearing off into the land of sport. Everyone I know says the same, “the foods nice, shame about the screens”. I think I am going to go elsewhere for a bit and hope you get enough feedback to maybe make some changes. Why not just zone it a bit better, anyone arriving just thinks it’s a sports pub.
