Came in to order food for delivery with my dad and my baby. It was a little confusing because the menu to eat in and take away are both different. My partner requested a vegan thali, but I was told that wasn’t on the take away menu. She then told me that I could order it, just the bits individually - it was a bit confusing. Why call yourself “Thali” if it’s not even on the menu? When we brought the food home, everything was in individual while tubs with absolutely no label or anything to help us identify who’s was who’s. The fact that amongst us was a meat eater, a vegan and a vegetarian, having no labels on any of the food was an unnecessary strain. The food was fine. I had the paneer curry with two chapatis. No complaints but nothing mind blowing. The main point I wish to make here is PLEASE PLEASE LABEL EACH TAKE AWAY MEAL!!!

I come here regularly or order from deliveroo for a kerlanandan chicken curry it is amazing My partner is vegan and also loves it here

It was my first visit. I was overwhelmed by a lovely service. Place had a good vibe. Food was great, and gin & tonic ( homemade tonic) was divine I never tasted something like that before.. Will definitely be back for more...

Great Thali but not quite as good as a few years back. No papas bread with the thali and flavours not quite the same however still a good 4 stars. Service good and not expensive ambience great,

Worst take away ever had. Absolutely shocking. Looked and tasted like brown slop.

Ordered via Deliveroo. Delivery was quick as usual. Food was very disappointing. The chicken curry was watery and very bland, the daal was also not flavoursome. The samosa was very dry. The rice was clearly just microwaved, and not for long enough, big chunks were solidified together. So much of it was just luke warm. In fairness, the chicken was cooked very well. So throughly disappointing, won’t order again.

Paneer dish was lovely, they modified a lamb dish for my step-dad who likes ridiculously spicy food. Friendly and helpful service.

The basmati rice quantity doesn’t suffice the 2 curries in the Thali. Nonetheless, it was the best Indian food I have tasted in Bristol.

Great food -as always- but tonight’s Saturday even takeaway experience was bad enough that I won’t bother with takeaway on a Friday or Saturday again. I turned up with my tiffin and placed an order at 19:35, with a promise of 10 minute wait. After 20+ minutes of watching deliveroo riders come in every 5+ minutes I eventually got fed up, went an asked “if there was a problem with my order?” and it was brought out sheepishly within 30s accompanied by the excuse “we’ve been really busy with takeaways”. I think they just forgot about my order and were too embarrassed to admit it. I will be back, but on different evenings-and after 15 minutes will start making a fuss. Would get the Dhaba Dal again -that was almost worth the wait.

Great value, nice that the mains include rice, potatoes etc so you get to taste lots of bits of everything with your curry. Vegan Chocolate cake desert fantastic! Enjoyed the king prawn curry. Loads of veggie options. Staff happy for us to take our time and relax. You’ll spend around £25-£30 a head with drink, poppadoms, main, sharing breads & desert.

Thali is my fav place for curry and has the best curry in my opinion. I like that their curry always has so much flavour and the flavours are so well balanced. At the same time it's so light and healthy. They basmati rice is cooked perfectly. I didn't have a full thali tonight as wasn't hungry enough but I love their thali. Nothing beats a good curry with a nice selection of accompaniments.

Nice place to dining, Went there with husband really liked Girl Anzelika make our evening fun,I think she is best. Definitely gonna be back

This restaurant deserves so much more hype. One of the best in Bristol, and pretty accurately represents South Indian food. Would recommend the Dhaal Makhani, but really all the dishes were fantastic. They also have lovely drinks. My only (tiny) gripe is that the mango lassi is quite a small portion, so I would avoid getting this, as it is so more-ish that you won't be satisfied. My partner and I have been multiple times and the staff and food are excellent.

Food was lovely, varied menu without being overwhelmed by choice. Table service a little slow, but I think it was a new waitress. Lovely atmosphere.

I can’t recommend Thali enough! I went for my birthday with six friends, the food was soo delicious and the atmosphere was for chilled. Table serves was quick and easy, they have a good choice of drinks including cocktails. I’m vegan and had lots to choose from, they also have fish and meat options.

This spot is great for casual but traditional Indian food. Loads of other options to choose from the menu apart from the Thali

The highlight of Thali Montpelier is undoubtedly its thali experience. Offering a spectrum of flavors, textures, and aromas, the thali showcased the diversity of Indian cuisine in all its glory. Each compartment of the thali held a treasure trove of dishes from various regions of India. Also, thank you for complimentary amazing Chai. Love to visit every time.

A small corner of excellent cuisine and kindness, absolutely worth trying.

The food is amazing and being an Indian I devavoured it with my hands. The only draw back we noticed was they used parsley instead of coriander (cilantro) which made the salad taste a bit funny. In India we don’t use parsley nor grow it. It might just be a simple grocery error since it does look the same. But overall , the best meal my husband and I had.

Absolutely brilliant neighbourhood restaurant serving fantastic food, with authentic flavours. Tarka daal to die for. Excellent value for money. Thanks to really friendly and attentive service, and extra thanks for accommodating us with a dog.

We came here on our 6 year anniversary and it was great. We're both vegetarian and the options at the Thali are great! My partner has always lived in Bristol and constantly states this is their favourite place to eat Indian Cuisine. Great value, super tasty, filling and wonderful veggie options. Also, the pistachio Kulfi for dessert is a must!! Overall an amazing place to eat. Would absolutely recommend.

The samosa were tasty, with the mango/pineapple/chilli chutney being a highlight. Potatoes were good, the tarka daal however was very watery and although the curry was very flavourful, it only had 3-4 small pieces of lamb in it, which doesn’t justify it being the most expensive main on the menu. Combined with the massive amount of rice it gives the impression the restaurant is trying to keep costs low. Service was ok, but mains were served almost immediately after the starters, so we were in and out of the restaurant in under 60 mins. Bit disappointed after all the good reviews on here.

Staff were friendly enough although slow to ask for drink choices. Had a hair in my Samosa but it was quickly replaced and taken off the bill without fuss. Both the food and the drinks were very hit and miss with some being delicious and others vile. 2 of the curry’s that were served were more like soup. Overall 3 stars is a fair rating for the experience today but I wouldn’t come back.

Amazing and authentic Thali - the best we’ve had in the UK! I had the goan fish curry and my partner had the lamb, both of which were delicious. Generous portions and lovely spicing, all finished off with a yummy cup of chai. Really enjoyed the atmosphere and will definitely be returning!

This is a tale of two meals 5 years apart. In 2018 we were walking around a rainy Bristol at around 3 pm finding a lunch place in stokes craft and came across this gem... We loved the thali, and part of the reason might have been our insane hunger... We returned to Bristol on a fmaily trip yesterday and had to go back to this place - again, it did not disappoint! Had am awesome dinner with a 3 course meal (including a thali)... Cannot recommend this place enough - a must visit for quirky but wholesome Indian meal.

Has to be one of the best Indian restaurants here in the UK. I'll be happy to drive to Bristol just to dine here again. Highly recommended!! 😇

I had a delicious Daal Makhni, rooibos chai latte and gulab jaman for dessert. Thoroughly enjoyed it all! Our server was really friendly and accommodating. I’ll come back when next in Bristol. 👌

Incredible. Went with a group of 40 friends they handled us so well. No food orders wrong and great quick service. New owners clearly know what their doing. The staff were really funny and friendly amplifying the whole experience. And the menu still slaps.

I’ve eaten here twice now - both times I’ve got the keralan nandan chicken thali. Both times it’s been stunning. The gunpowder potatoes are so good! The tarka daal is the perfect consistency and I love the larger lentils they use. Would definitely recommend getting one of the chapatis to go with your thali. The raspberry and ginger cooler is really refreshing. The staff are really friendly and welcoming and the service is really quick. The restaurant has a really relaxed atmosphere and really fits and informal dinner.

Don't order on Deliveroo. The curry was tasteless brown sauce that gave me awful indigestion with a few scraps of meat somewhere floating in it. Great chapati bread though

The Thalis we ordered were just perfect. So full of flavour and excellent service!

All four of our party was blown away by the food. Thali mains were outstanding and the desserts - specifically the chocolate ice cream and the mango sorbet - were almost too good to be real. Attentive staff, loved the decor and music. Will be back shortly.

The Thalis were so good, I brought my friends with me the next time so I could try another one. The Goan Fish curry was my favourite and was perfectly cooked with a great balance of spice and flavours. Everything on the plate was delightfully delicious. Agnija served us and was friendly throughout. A hidden gem in Bristol tucked away at a side street. I will have to come back again to try the other Thalis.

Had a lovely evening at the Thali Cafe. The restaurant itself was gorgeous and our waitress Agnija was friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and well priced and all came quickly. An enjoyable dining experience, would definitely return :)

Good food but atrocious customer service. Placed an order for collection, got back to the house and found that a dish was missing. Called the restaurant and they said the best we can for you is to come back and get it and we will give you a free poppadom... We paid for a dish that was not there, we weren’t offered a refund and one of us had nothing to eat.

Couldn't resist leaving a review. Randomly stopped by and definitly wouldnt be the last visit. The food really takes you back to india. It's so difficult to find tasty vegan meals but this place does not disappoint (especially Uttaapam is YUMM). The atmosphere is brillant, the waitress explained all the paintings in the back room were from popular bollywood movies and music was from 70s and 80s.

Pedí comida para llevar esta noche y la comida no era comestible. La olla de curry de mi novio se rompió y la mitad estaba en la bolsa. Tuve que pelar la calabaza en mi curry porque la piel gruesa todavía estaba unida a la calabaza (ver fotos). El arroz estaba demasiado cocido. Llamamos para quejarnos y la señora del teléfono no fue muy útil. Por favor, no desperdicie su dinero y busque en otra parte.

As a brand new customer, we were absolutely blown away by the flavours at this small, friendly, independent Indian restaurant.. I'd definitely call it 'contemporary Indian food' as the small menu has unique and creative dishes, much more interesting than the usual same old same old, you get in standard curry houses. Good portion sizes and great value. A local gem, I'd highly recommend! 5 stars!!

Far too watery. Lacked flavour and body. Ordered on Deliveroo so this may be the delivery experience. Given the other reviews, maybe the eat-in experience is better.

Takeaway - very disappointed. The mains we ordered were watery, lacking spice and flavour. There seemed to be no care taken. The chicken dish was flavourless as was the paneer. The lamb whilst cooked ok, again the overall dish was watery and lacking any depth of flavour - it reminded me of a jar curry paste. The dhal, no texture, same as above watery. With such rave reviews from all I was throughly disappointed.

It was delicious vegan meal for us. I like spicy food, and it was just about my taste. Also the restaurant kept covid restrictions which was to our safety
