I have been to alessi at least 20 times over the last couple of years and have always enjoyed the food and service with no complaints. Unfortunately the same could not be said for the last recent visit on Saturday 2 November. This was a family visit for my mums birthday. I had booked via WhatsApp and all been agreed. However when entering, it became clear that they had messed the bookings up and we were not showing on the table plans. I was told that we would have to wait 20-30 minutes whilst they put a couple of tables together. I would not have minded this too much, however was given no apology, and was made to feel like their mistake was mine. When taken to our table, it was clearly just put together, right by the front door and bar and not great. At the end of the night I approached front of house to give them my views, I was not happy with the service tonight. At this point I received an apology, shame it took so long to get one. Overall, the experience was not good, and given the amount of money that was spent, and the poor service received, some free poppadoms just didn’t cut it.

One of the worst restaurant meals I have ever experienced. A mixed grill that consisted of dry chicken, the cheapest lamb/mutton you could wish to chew and one solidarity over cooked prawn. They also served a child in our part with an undercooked chicken leg, literally ran on the bone. A shambles.

We were told by other hotel guest that this was the best curry they’d had. We are very experienced curry eaters and so was a little sceptical. We were wrong. I love dansak dishes and so I had the tandoori duck dansak. The dansak curry was the best dansak I had had. My wife had chicken merilan with melons, which was creative, beautifully tasty and well presented. Even the mushroom rice and onion bhajis were of top notch quality. Just wished the Taste of India was closer to our home.

Have totally enjoyed every meal I have tried from Herbs and Spices all the dishes always have lots of meat and the presentation is on point in the restaurant and equally when I have ordered takeaways the dishes are of the same quality, excellent value for money and extremely tasty. Highly recommend !!!!!

Wanted Saturday night takeaway and opted for Indian which we hadn’t had for a while. I googled the local restaurants that deliver and found this soooo reasonably priced, and having eaten here a few times knew the food’s excellent. It worked out £11 each with free delivery, for 3 mains, 2 chips, 1 naan, poppadom & chutney which was much cheaper than competitors. Easy website, paid online, quick delivery and very enjoyable eating!!

We have been many times before and always have great food, this time wasn't so great, food was bland, normally waiters will come along as you if you require more drinks they didn't ask and take away empty glasses or bottles. They use to give you a hot cloth to wipe your hands no cloth but you still got mints, Waiters I afraid not as friendly and made to feel uncomfortable like they were all on guard as though something would kick off or someone was going to do a runner. Don't think I would want to return.

Visited for a family celebration and found staff were very approachable. However the food, shambles. Watery curry, cheese naan with next to little cheese in. Took ages to take plates away and seemed to left alone at times. Toilets were disgusting, dirty with door handles missing and a hand dryer that had “no heat” written on it in biro. No other means of drying your hands in the gents. Makes you wonder what the kitchen is like ?

I've had 3 takeaways from this place and eaten in twice. Always just pretty average, certainly nothing special but what has made me leave this review was last nights meal. Chicken Jalfrezi, Chicken Tikka masala and chicken, mushroom balti. With rice, chips and onion bahjee. The Jalfrezi had absolutely no kick at all, no sense of chillies and very bland. Chicken and mushroom balti was just like a stew but the biggest problem was the tikka massala. Its the corner stone of the basic meal which no decent chef should get wrong. This was basically poor quality chicken in what was almost not even a sauce, more like red water/fluid. I was annoyed because we had just picked up a guest from the airport and was treating them to a curry. It was embarrassing. Total waste of time and money.
