Our go to restaurant when we fancy a curry. Staff nice. Very pleasant and good with our five year old. Food okay, although a bit inconsistent. We ordered a chicken vindaloo main course and just a vindaloo sauce (to dip chips). The sauce was very heavy on chilli and far ‘hotter’ than the main course dish. Tbh it was not really edible, that was disappointing.

Awful. Curry’s were tasteless and very very watery. Person on the phone did not care at all. Awful food and awful customer service

Disappointing, staff didn’t engage. Food could’ve been better -prawns covered in sauce rather than cooked in it. Wasn’t asked if wanted sweet or coffee, completely ignored.

Curries OK but nothing that really grabbed my taste buds. Service good. Best thing for non disabled the pub next door for pre loading. Very noisy need for sound damping material conversation difficult Toilets too many cubicules with missing locks, Male and Female, also I have been told.

Okay. Not a great venue when busy, too noisy. Food okay. Service okay. Nothing special. A heads up, if you go early in the evening your pop-Aron’s may be left over from lunchtime and not fresh.

Having enjoyed our experiences here before, brought friends for a nice curry before going next door to listen to the music at the Coopers Tavern. Booked table for 7pm. First courses weren’t served until 8.30pm!. Service was extremely slow and we weren’t made to feel welcome. Nobody apologised for our wait and when we were eventually served, the waiters were quite surly. The food was good but they need to address the service. We didn’t leave until 9.30 - the music stops at at the Coopers at 10pm! Lesson learned. We won’t be visiting again.

We have visited Apne many times over many years, it is by far our favourite Indian restaurant and takeaway anywhere! Service is always superb, lovely people, lovely food.

We’ve been going to Apne for many years and have always had a great experience, excellent food, an interesting menu and can bring beers in from Coopers Tavern next door, which is a bonus. We visited again recently and thought the food wasn’t so tasty (maybe they had a different chef in), the naan breads are half the size they used to be, the waiter called me Sir instead of Madam (I must get that beard of mine plucked!!) and and the toilet corridor smelt of poo (although the toilets themselves were clean). Also, for Valentine’s night, the restaurant seemed quite empty, which was a surprise as we expected it to be rammed. Maybe this was just one bad experience because in the past we have always had top notch food there and hopefully this was just a one off!

A group of 8 of us went and nothing was left on any plates by the end! Delicious. I asked for a different veggie option and they made exactly what I hoped. Really tasty. Popodoms delicious and crispy and so was the naan! We will be back. Thank you.

went for a meal here the other night, it was quiet, can see why now. Four of us ordered different main meals, when the came out they all looked the same, even the waiter had trouble to tell which was which. They were all pretty bland. The daal had no taste...back to the Claypot, much better.

After using the Apne for many years, the curry we had delivered tonight, I have to say it’s the worst, tasteless , very bland except for the chillies , the sauce was like soup , the Bombay potatoes were vile, I wonder if MR Hussain has sold up, it’s such a shame, I can’t believe how bad our curries were 4 of us all agreed the curries were so very bad, we will have to think long and hard before ordering again, what an absolute shame

Been here quite a few times and Tbf it is good value. Been once and it was very good, sometimes so so , last time pretty poor . Tikka tasted very strange . Chicken had an odd texture like Toffu?!… been before with lads n had a curry n beer n really enjoyed it. That’s my basis for the bang average 3 *

Visited with friends, had a drink in the Coopers Arms next door first, you can take your drinks into the restaurant, brilliant idea. The restaurant has a nice and friendly atmosphere, staff very friendly and attentive, the food was excellent, good size portions and good value for money. We will certainly return soon.

The service in the place is like a comedy sketch. The waiters (so called) are friendly, rude and confused, you never know which one you’ll get. We ordered our meal and popadoms can straight away. I was lowered into a false sense or security by the promptness of this. We waited an hour for the next cause! I asked and one waiter said you’ll be next and was apologetic. After another 20 minutes I asked another waiter how long our food would be and he said ‘ we are busy can’t you see’ and then we asked another who seemed dazed and confused. We got up and left. Absolute disgrace!

Great flavours, large portion sizes and good service. Went with a group and attentive waiters and pleasant surroundings.

Went on the 2nd May 2022. Checked their website not only 'Closed on Monday - Except for Bank Holidays. Turn up at 19:00 closed up. Waste of time in checking the website and then going down to the restaurant and most important backed in a corner for dinner that day.

Seven of us visited on a Saturday evening, and not a single complaint about anything from any of us. Great welcome and service with a genuine warmth, good-sized portions of lovely food, pleasant atmosphere, and “bring your own” too! What’s not to like?

Really good, Indian cuisine with a very varied menu. Not the usual run of the mill offerings. It doesn't have a licence so you can take your own alcohol and they don't charge corkage either. Or pop in to the Coopers next door and but...

We went this evening. The food was revolting, bland and tasteless. Worse than curry from a tin. The owner asked if everything was ok, when we replied that we were disappointed with the food as it lacked any flavour he got defensive and told us that this is the way they do it. If we don't like it then tough!!!We were astonished with such poor customer service. I have eaten in many places over the years but never had such a response as that!The toilets are disgusting with urine all over the seats, terrible food, awful service would NEVER recommend to anyone.Avoid this place at all costs.

We visited this place with a group of over 30 people. The customer service was poor from when we arrived. I'd hoped the food would be worth it... What an absolute disappointment! The food tasted of nothing. When I raised it with the waiter I was told "this is how we do it! You don't like it, you don't like it!" I was horrified by the way I was spoken to. I would highly recommend NEVER visiting this place!!!

Have visited Apne on several previous occasions and never had a bad meal. Visited again this weekend. Had made booking and asked for the Banquet special meal. There were four of us - all good eaters, and the dishes offered were absolutely superb.

Been here several times and never been disappointed. And because you bring your own drink - or bring from next door Coopers Arms- always a reasonable price and good night out. Excellent food and nicely presented. Excellent waiting on without being intrusive. The only reason it does not hit the 5 is as on other occasions losing that ambience associated with Indian restaurants because very simply it is too light. Very bright throughout the dining area. Would help if toned down a little bit

Ordered a takeaway. Two totally different dishes. Both came in exactly the same sauce which tasted like a packet mix with added vinegar. No flavour or spice. I had three small pieces of chicken (not marinated) and uncooked onion. Partner had a fish dish which had sauce which should of been creamy and coconut and tasted sour and like vinegar.

So looking forward to Onion Barjees for starter but disappoointed as they were hard dry - seemed dehydrated or a change of chef ?

Cannot fault this place! The food and staff are perfect. Delicious well-spiced food and generous portions and prices. Brought some friends here having not visited in a while, but everything was as fantastic as we remember. We won't leave it so long next time.

This is my second visit to Apne, again it didn’t disappoint, the atmosphere,the staff and the food were amazing. The food came piping hot, large portions and just so tasty. Will certainly be back. Thank you for a lovely evening.

Recently four of us dined at apne after not going for a year and found the food as good as ever we all really enjoyed everything with the value unbeatable,i only give it four stars because of how bright it is inside,all i can say is we wont leave it a year again

Had a fantastic meal..had the Naga Special JaL-Jul which was the hottest dish on the menu..Amazing flavours..garlic special rice was great.Bring your beers or wine in from the Coopers Tavern next door..highly recommended ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Rang them up ,they had a table free in an hour went down had amazing food ,tried the samosa to share for the first time ,wasn’t disappointed we absolutely loved it (big starter)the rest of the food was the same quality (brilliant)

Apne has become our regular Indian restaurant and we always have a lovely meal. We mainly go on Sundays but we have visited midweek plus Fridays and Saturdays. It’s worth booking at weekends/holidays as it is a popular place. The staff are friendly and always have a smile on their faces! The food is spot on and we can’t recall having a bad meal. Some of us go for spicier dishes like Madras & Jalfrezi and others go for more mild dishes like Saag Balti & Masala and all are tasty. It’s also very affordable particularly with it being a ‘bring your own drink’ restaurant. Definitely recommend and thanks to everyone at Apne!

We visit Apne probably once a month and we’ve never had a bad meal. Service is great, the manager is very welcoming and appreciates your custom. Very good value for money too, and the added bonus of bringing in a beer from the Coopers. Top notch

Visited last Wednesday night for a meal whilst in Burton having booked after reviewing trip advisor.

A lovely family meal at Christmas - both food & service were good. Our first time visiting the Apne & we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Last minute change of plan rang on the same day as table was needed for 4 of us and managed to fit us in. Always pleasant and never lack on service. Would highly recommend here best food by far. You can take your own alcohol and soft drinks or buy from the pub next door and bring it round. Nothing is to much trouble for Apne. This is one of the only places we will recommend for family and friends to eat at as we’ve never been let down and we have family that travel to join us for a meal at Apne due to the food and staff. Popped into Apne on a word of mouth recommendation and were not disappointed. We had not booked but were welcomed warmly all the same. Menu choices are varied and plentiful and all superbly priced. Thoroughly enjoyed our meals and will definitely visit again if in the area.

With a large range to chose from, you cannot go wrong. There were 12 of us in the party and nobody had a bad word to say. It is not a licensed restaurant, but can you can take your own drinks, even those supplied by the Coopers Tavern next door. The atmosphere was good, and the service excellent. Try it soon.

Have used this restaurant a few times now and I have to say for really good Indian Cuisine in Burton upon trent I wouldn't go anywhere else. Lovely staff , excellent food and value for money . Well worth a visit.

This was our first visit to Apne. We ordered our starters which arrived are were very good but quite large portions for starters.

Great welcome, friendly start. All staff great with kids, curry’s were all fresh and really tasty, chicken tikka. Special naan the same. Clearly has many returning customers as will we.

Not a big curry fan however I have to say this is a lovely Indian restaurant. Excellent food and brilliant service. Don’t visit very often but never disappointed. Would recommend this establishment to anyone, but make sure you book as it is very popular.

After not being at the restaurant for five years my husband and I decided to visit, after my husband had said how good it was! I had chicken tikka Pathia, and was really was the most tasteless curry I have had in a while, my husband had lamb madras which was fine! My curry was neither hot, sweet and sour as described and I was really disappointed! Another curry house not to be revisited

Excellent service and excellent food, as always. If you can get in on one of the charity nights, you are sure of a great night. £20 a head for a set meal, and I can honestly say yu o won't be able to finish it all. Even on the set menu nights, there is a veggie option available.

Well being a regular here I can say this place is the best for Indian cuisine in burton and I can say I've tried all the other restaurants too. The food here is always on point and the service top notch too.

Visited my friend after visiting for football. Food was cooked to perfection. Went for the mixed grill off the bone. Flavours was amazing, meat still moist. The service let it down and the lack of beer. If in the area would definitely visit again.

Visited a good few times and the food is always very tasty, fresh and the Service is good! My only gripe would be the bright lighting so not much ambience. Wouldn’t stop me re visiting though for a delicious authentic curry.

We were very pleased with our meal. There were some interesting choices on offer. Bring your own drinks to get even better value. Or bring in from the Cooper’s Tavern next door.

Christmas meal with the mates. Booked some weeks ago and told we can’t book a time as they do sittings 7-9 and 9-11 or something like that. Not licensed so if you drink they let you take your own booze in which makes for a cheap meal. Food was lovely. Curry portions enormous and very tasty. Staff were generally great but the owner is particularly lovely. We all enjoyed our meal and had a good night. Price for 6 was less than £70. Only slight downside is they were very busy which meant the food took a while to arrive and due to the table turn policy we were asked to move on literally after finishing so couldn’t make a night of it. That aside I’d recommend this place.

I've been here with a couple of friends for a Curry spicy dinner and to be honest wehad a great time all together. Nice place, staff so friendly. The chance to bring with you you're drink gives you chance to choose freely what you're feeling to drink that night.

Apne is the best curry house in the area in my opinion. We’ve never had a bad meal here. There is a varied menu but I always end up ordering the same thing! The lamb Madras is amazing! Hot and full of flavour. Tender, plentiful meat. My fiancé has had a few different dishes and always enjoys them.

We enjoy curries, along with many other members of our family and friends, and Apne is always our first choice....

It was not great, madras and garlic fried rice lacked flavour, there is a lot better options out there!

Being a regular to Apne for both takeaway and sit in I can say it is the best Indian around the Burton area. Service is always friendly and the food is just perfect. I have tried many of the specialities and I can say they all taste amazing.

Ate here on a busy Saturday night. Even though the place was very busy service was still very good. Staff are friendly and courteous and the food is superb. I couldn't finish my meal but that was fine, I was able to take my curry home in a takeaway box. Would highly recommend.

Me and the wife came for a date night and it was perfect. So nice in fact we've decided to take the kids for a bit of a mix platter. Highly recommended

Great night with large group of friends . We enjoyed pre dinner drink next door at Coopers Tavern and we were able to bring the glasses into the restaurant . Restaurant has no licence for alcohol. There's a large menu to choose from . Food was delicious one of the best curries I've had in the area . Very pleasant waiters . Can't wait to return

This Indian restaurant is first class...from the friendly welcome, outstanding food and prompt service nothing is too much trouble. Added to that you can bring your own drinks or bring in a pint from the wonderful 'Coopers' next door. Best Indian food in Burton on Trent.

This is not licensed but you can take your own booze. There is a pub next door selling a range of real ales so it is fab. The food is great and the service is fine. There is a car park . Well worth a visit.

We were recommended to try this eating house, The pub next door is a proper old pub with many real ales.You can go into the pub and walk with your drinks to the restaurant next door. Actually won a free meal for 2 in a raffle - but decided it's worth taking up. So pleased we did, absolutely fabulous food, great staff from entry to exit. Large food portions ( left loads of it ) as were full, tasty food, with low waiting time and added benefit of bring your own drinks - what more is there to say - other than looking forward to going bk and im not from Burton but worth the travel x

Was brought here on a date night by my partner. I had never heard of it but he and his family have been in the past. It was beautiful! I only had a tikka masala as I'm not too good with spicy food and it was delicious! Can't remember what my partner had but he enjoyed it! Will definitely be returning!!

Very good food and excellent real ales from the pub next door, really works well together. The place was extremely busy but no loss of service.

We have been coming here fir years, but have never got around to reviewing it. The owner of the restaurant is always there and is a lovely gentlemen, very courteous and helpful. They have got the balance just right here, never take too many tables at one time and have a couple of sitting times. He also will nit take takeaway orders at his busiest times in the restaurant. Result is a smooth operating restaurant with no long waits for meals, and if you are ordering takeaway they will be honest about when it will be delivered. The food is always fantastic and so reasonably priced. In a town that has a lot of Indian\Pakistan cuisine restaurants it's plain to see why Apne continues to be one of, if not the best. It's BYO, and they have an agreement with the pub next door so you can bring drinks from there.

Was as good as the first. Passed the fork test every time - could easily cut the meat with the side of the fork it was that tender i find that is always a good sign. Very clean restaurant food nicely presented. Very busy on a Wednesday night again good sign. People seem to love it here and you can see why. If you haven't been give it a try you won't be disappointed. Not licensed so BYO.

Went to this restaurant on the recommendation of a local bar manager. Jumped in a taxi as had never been to the town before, myself and 5 friends were needing something we would all like.On the outside it looks a little worn like an office with a very traditional working men's pub next door, opposite the Coors factory. However the pub and restaurant have an excellent BYOB agreement, after grabbing a drink from the pub. We were greeted with friendly staff. The starters were great but the main meal was delicious.My husband ordered the same a spicy Korma dish which they made a vegetarian version for me. One of the best curries I have had in years. Fantastic food even if the decor is lacking. If ever in Burton again I will certainly be stopping.

I went to the Apne for the first time last week for a Birthday meal. There was a lot of us plus another large group of people also. The food was excellent , all arrived at the same time, was hot and generous amounts. We bought our own wine which is great as you can bring whatever you want without getting ripped off like some places. Would definitely eat there again.

Every time we come home, we always order a takeaway from Apne.Nobody gets the consistency of the korma sauce just right like they do.I really love the unique mint sauce that comes alongside the poppadoms and pickles.Excellent quality!

Had a lovely meal on Saturday nite. Visited Apne on many occasions and never fails on quality of food and service. Onion bhajee are the best in Burton and the Tandoori fish is fabulous. I would also recommend the Chicken Garlic Chicken. We will be visiting again shortly. We still think this Indian takes some beating no frills but excellent food.
