If you were to ask me about Patiala, I would say “it’s a good curry” But ask me on a deeper level and I would say: “It’s the best restaurant in Birmingham. Suleman and Shorob and team are the kindest, most lovely people. Their food is exquisite. The service is so friendly and attentive. We come here week after week and the food never once has been less than 5 star. It’s incredible. Consistent, comfortable, cosy and absolutely stunning. Go there to experience it.” Matt

The food here is often simply stunning. It's like fine dining, in a different league. Had a vegetable rogon josh today and was really blown away. I don't know how they do it. Service is also very natural warm and friendly. My favourite place. Well done guys!

A new favourite!! Among a wealth of options in Stirchley Patiala is well worth a try. The restaurant is clean and Inviting with a great large dining space. The team are super friendly and were there for anything we needed. The food was ace! From perfect poppadoms to a range of dishes with a good amount of spice and flavour for all. While an absolute minimum, the nanny bread is noteworthy, simple but done extremely well. We'll definitely be back!!

Visited on weekend and the restaurant was not much busy. The food was tasty and the service was good. Prices were reasonable too.

Food is just ok. Ordered Raita with cucumber, which they haven't put any effort to taste it good. I would have ordered curd and added cucumber pieces by myself. Chicken Tikka and Palak panner was OK. Keema paratha was salty, chappati was big in size but too thick for me.

Had a takeaway. Excellent delicious food. Very tender meat and all freshly cooked. Efficient and friendly staff. Would highly recommend.

A tasty restaurant with plenty of options and very large portions at a very reasonable cost. The six of us were staying locally so an easy stroll away. The starters were excellent and very plentiful. The only slight issue is that the restaurant does not have an alcohol licence so you have bring your own if you want to accompany your meal with that.

Food was very nice with good service. As with North Indian/Bengal cuisine there is a high emphasis on spice which can be lowered on request. On time of this review the restaurant was under work knocking a few points for atmosphere. Overall this is worth a try if you want to try Traditional Bengal Cusine.

A fantastic meal at this place a while back, they are able to accommodate a wheelchair, with portable ramps to allow access to the disabled toilet, the staff were wonderful, the food was excellent, and the atmosphere was enjoyable. We have already been back, and had an excellent time again

Imitaz is a ledge (legend) as to is the gaff , food is pukka , the place across the road is dead food , this place is decent reaching 100 word word count.

Lived in Brum for over 20 years, been to all the ‘best’ curry spots in that time but hands down - these guys are the top of the tree. Really good menu, original dishes & most importantly it’s CONSISTENTLY amazing. Service may be a little slow when busy but that’s because they’re cooking very, very good food & that takes time. Personal faves are the mixed grill for a starter & the Jaipuri Lamb but the whole menu is terrific.

The food is amazing, so many tastes and flavours, you need to take your own alcohol, you can get a limited range of soft drinks, service is good with plenty of room for covid restrictions. Takeaway service is very reliable. Give it a try, but book first.

Waited an hour after we ordered for our mains to arrive. On watching other tables (what else are you going to do for an hour?)everyone was served in order so the staff kept everyone waiting the same amount of time. Did the staff apologise for the delay? Nope! Was the food worthy of an hours wait? Well, it was good when it arrived. The waiter did say they were busy(have they seen Akrams on a Saturday evening?). When you have a lot of good restaurants nearby Patiala need to up their game, especially the service.

Poor service long wait times and staff not attentive to getting drinks topped up when ran out they aren’t very welcoming and it’s cold

Took 15 minutes to be seated, 45 minutes to be served, 2 hours for food to arrive, 30 minutes to get the bill, and not one apology of any kind. Worst service I've ever experienced in a restaurant. Food was nothing spectacular, and was definitely not worth a 3 hour wait!! If the kitchen can't handle the capacity of the restaurant then they shouldn't have so many tables. Simple Maths. Will not be returning here again.

The food is fantastic really good quality. And the portions are good - not too big not too small just perfect!! The atmosphere is great, lovely restaurant inside. You can take your own drink which is always a bonus! Can’t wait for my next visit. The staff really care and are attentive

Fantastic curry for me and my partner. Vegetarian platter, garlic, mushroom lamb tikka and lamb balti. Very enjoyable evening, great service and will be returning.

Only popped in to order a takeaway but plans changed so dined in ok my own. Staff were really friendly and suggested having the Achari Chicken. It was superb, really enjoyed the dish. Will be returning with the family as was really impressed.

Great little spot, first visit and we’ve made another booking just before xmas. Bring your own bottle, very reasonably priced dishes and excellent throughout. Personally, I had the mixed grill but still wanted to try another dish, they halved the price and the portion for me, no problem.

Used to have really nice biryani and they used to make it spicy when we asked now they don't even when you ask but now it just tastes okay. Their curries tastes okay, again they don't make it spicy when asked for. Don't really go there anymore!

Soloman is a great host and always makes my visit enjoyable

Service was insanely slow. We had been there 20 mins before we got a menu, another 30 before anyone took our order, 1.40 from arrival before we got any food. Nearly half an hour to get the bill paid. To be honest they're lucky we waited to pay it at all-not sure they'd have noticed us go. Over 3 hrs there in total, which left very little time for the rest of our night. Food was ok, nothing to write home about. Won't return.

Great service of a fantastic curry. Staff helpful and attentive.

I was dining alone, and the staff really looked after me, especially Hussein. The King prawn puri I had was superb, followed by the Salmon mumtaz. The cooking is "homestyle", so the masala sauces are thick and not salty and clearly made fresh on the day. The ambiance was just lovely as well. I will come back next time I am in the area.

Excellent service and the food was to match

First visit here after reading some of the reviews on social media. Went on a Monday evening so was very quiet, but I beleive weekends require a booking as they get very busy. Food and service were excellent. All very fresh and presented well. Our waiter was very attentive and helpful. Will definately go back

Really friendly staff. Food is incredible. They allowed us to try the phaal sauce, alongside our main meals and it went down a treat. Reasonably priced and a nice fresh, chilled ambience. Highly recommended 👌

Food was ok, forgot the salad and onions for the popadoms, bought the salad back still no onions. Delivery said 40mins was 1hr and 15. Not good service.

he restaurant was very slow, but the main waiter didn't seem to want to even wait on us. The person who did finally wait on us after 30 minutes was the guy who showed us to our table and at least got us water and originally said our waiter would take our order. I saw him even confront the other waiter and ask if he was going to help us. The guy who finally waited on us was nice, but overall, the service was horrible. When we did see the main waiter was when we paid. He added up the bill and tossed in an extra 20% gratuity. I didn't have the patients to even argue and just paid so we could leave. Ask for a hard copy of the written bill as it's just on a sheet of paper and add it yourself before you pay. I'm glad I just paid and left because thinking back on it, they are quite fortunate, I didn't tell him what I really thought. Food wise, it was okay, but my meal didn't taste like any Chicken Tiki Masal I've ever had. It was red and had a sweet flavor to it so I recon I received something else.

Orderd on just eat , I don't know how people can rate this place, the foods awful, Floating in grease (including the side dishes) The only thing that was edible was the Naan. The rest of my £32 order was thrown away. Dreadful .

It was ok, nothing special. Being charged for poppadoms and corkage was not great. Staff were a bit lacklustre.

We booked a big family meal here for 14 of us on bank holiday. Staff were accomodating, the food was really well presented and tasty. Would recommend.

First of all the service is excellent. Then the food. It looks and tastes delicious. This place goes the extra mile. The dishes are accompanied by tasty garnishes which make the difference. Great choice on the menu from the classics to some more interesting and unique dishes. I highly recommend this place.

This place has won multi awards, u can see why. The place is stunning, the food is top quality and the staff are excellent. You can't fault it at all. Price wise I found extremely cheap for such a remarkable place. Will definitely return

We have been to this place a few times in a variety of situations - large group who had met just after Covid regulations relaxed, smaller group and now as a couple. Food and service have been excellent on every visit. Friendly staff in a time when service seems to have got to the wall -so nice to enjoy a meal out how it should be. Restaurant is pleasant with nice feel due to large windows (and those rare things here lovely tree lined street 😣) so feels much more pleasant than some other local curry houses that feel crowded and just overlooking the ugly Pershore Rd with its love of hoardings and tacky furniture shops and lack of greenery. We had a booth to ourselves and starters and drinks arrived promptly. For mains I had lamb shank- delicious and so filling ..after my husband and I leaving several “trendy” restaurants locally still hungry and wondering what on Earth all the hype was about on last few meals out, this was so nice. We are used to good service and honest tasty food that is cooked well and doesn’t cost the earth and isn’t pretentious as it’s owners. Hubbie loves his meat so order the mixed grill tonight - again he was defeated by this very generous portions. ..peshwari naan lovely, rice fluffy and soft and even poppadoms and chutneys so much nicer and fresher than elsewhere. Apart from a noisy dad with awful manners making more noise than his little baby for a while 😳we had a lovely relaxing meal here and would definitely recommend to others who have eaten out in enough places to know uncomfortable seating, crowded tables and people trying to too hard to be hipsters isn’t what most people actually want in an evening out.

Service was excellent as was the food, couldn't fault anything, we brought our own alcohol as not licenced only charging £2.50 corkage which was very reasonable. Would definiately recommend.

Taste is good but increasing cost. Location is far from city.

We went for dinner and it I can definitely say its not INDIAN food. No vegetables in vegetable curry just oil and potatoes if you are lucky you will find few traces of peas and carrots. Manager there who came to ask how the food was, is not ready to take feedback, when we mentioned that we cant taste anything but oil, he said vegetables should be cooked in oil , Strange! Now I understand why they cant improve.

Nice restaurant, bring your own booze, and tasty food. Well presented on these black plates, and not overly oily or sweet like cheap curry houses might be. Would highly recommend the Balti (Brum speciality) which was delicious

First time eating in this restaurant. A generally good experience. Update: the second time here the food was excellent and staff very friendly.

I have eaten here a few times and the food is amazing. Unfortunately on this occasion the chops to start were cremated so much the flavour was fowled by the burnt taste. Then as we ate the main meal we pulled apart the cheese naan only to find what would be described as long piece of plastic that looked like it was the handle of a plastic bag. Normally i don't complain but nothing was really dome about it. Think I'll go back to Akrams in future. Considering you spend over £80 for a curry you expect better service, we had to wait ages for the starter and after that it seems to take so long to get someone's attention.

Came here for a meal Friday night. Service was excellent, staff very helpful, polite and attentive. My food was excellent but partner slightly disappointed with their mixed balti and garlic naan, although still good not the best. Can BYOB, we ordered soft drinks however which were quite expensive. Overall would recommend, thanks!

Ii ordered over the phone, drove to collect my order and paid. I left and returned to my car. I was pursued by the man I paid with the demand I pay again. I showed him the payment had been debited out of my account. He wouldn't take no for an answer so I paid again... I could see the same amount debited from my account a second time. I felt so frustrated and actually quite violated, so I returned to the restaurant to state my case. I was basically laughed at. I wishi had have given the food back and asked for both payment to be returned, but I was just in shock. What should have been a little midweek treat has ended up being a £50 plus takeaway which just made me feel sick (probably just the stress of the situation. I don't want to seem overly dramatic but the whole incident has left me feeling horrible. I don't even know how to get my money back... is it fraud??

Customer Service: In ubereats ordered chicken biriyani under desi biriyani section and got chicken Balti. When called up the restaurant to check about it, they spoke in a very inappropriate tone saying it’s not their fault but it’s our fault. Firstly, when we genuinely wanted to just share the issue with the restaurant they are not suppose to shout at us. Secondly, it clearly states in the Uber eats under desi biriyani section. Thirdly, he hung up the call when in the middle of the conversation. Never expected customer service would be so bad and rude especially when we were trying to speak in a good tone and resolve the issue at the beginning. Food taste: taste was not bad (4/5) Eve though the food was ok, I am not going to order from here because of the poor and worst customer service. Reply for response given by the restaurant: As already stated above, we tried to sort the issue out by calling tue restaurant instead of reporting to Uber eats first. We can clearly check the time when we call the restaurant and the time we reported the issue to Uber Eats. Since we did not get the appropriate response from the restaurant manager, we had no choice than to report it to Uber eats the next day. And to be honest, we, in call with the restaurant, just informed that we received a curry instead of biriyani in a very polite manner. Manager could have just told that it was a mistake in the system or something. We would have left it there and then. But the manager started to put the blame on us saying we ordered it wrong. Whereas, we were trying to explain that we ordered chicken under the biriyani section, so that neither the restaurant or any other customer in future should have to face this issue again. We very well know how to run the business. We never asked you to send the biriyani when we called you to report this. We were just trying to explain the situation when the manager started to shout and ended the call abruptly.

Great Balti here today, good atmosphere and prices

Had a lovely impromptu dinner here with my wife - from the cheerful welcome onwards the service was excellent and the food was beautifully cooked. After the papadoms with dips, we had the really juicy king prawn puri and the well-spiced kali mirchi. For mains the lamb shank was nice and tender with a rich sauce, and the chicken jaipuri had a lovely fresh heat without losing the flavour. Value for money is very good, this restaurant stands out in a competitive area of Birmingham.

Just back from what was possibly the worst service I've ever had in a Birmingham curry house. Took 90 minutes for us to receive our starters, and that only seemed to arrive after we asked when they were going to arrive (we issued an ultimatum if they didn't arrive within 3 minutes minutes that we were leaving). When they did arrive (with 30 seconds left) my wife's veggie samosas were cold in the middle and my (and my pals) Sea bass starter firstly looked nothing like sea bass, more like a heated up frozen lidl lemon sole with some curry powder on it (I've had sea bass many times and this was definitely not that!). The onion bhaji ordered by the rest of the table were passable in fairness bit nothing to ring home about. We mentioned the cold samosas and after 10 minutes of waiting for them to replace them and still nothing we asked and complained to cancel the mains and leave. They refused to admit any wrong doing or mistakes and claimed that we had "rushed them" and take no responsibility. This was all whilst their kitchen had takeaway orders flying out and the serving staff gave us no update or apology to our poor service. Eventually we left after agreeing to pay for the piss poor starters. I will never return here. Poor service. Rude. And the food that actually managed to make it's way to the table (that wasn't cold) was bland. Avoid

Shocking service, need to focus on their customers rather than take aways

Non sense behavior from staff. Ordered a starter, naan, chana curry and chicken biriyani. They sent me a balti instead of briyani. I had a call immediately and all they try is cover up their mistake. They blame me for putting a note as extra masala not bland. The manager says it's not India or Pakistan. It's england so they give balti instead of biriyani when I ask for extra masala in biriyani. I understand they might have a miscommunication with uber systems but they can easily address this. Instead the manager hung up the call. Unbelievable service. Get your service and systems right with online orders or don't sell online. Update: Decent taste. Fish pakora is great! Chana is good. Naan is decent considering it is a takeaway order. But thanks to the unbelievable staff, I can sleep hungry

Shocking service, waited for two hours for my food and still not received anything. Called the restaurant to see where it was for them to rush me off the phone and put the phone down. I will never order from this restaurant again as the service was shocking so will my cold food whenever it arrives if it actually does.

The food here is quite nice but we booked a table for 8pm, weren’t seated til 8:30, we didn’t get our food til after 10pm I think. Really disappointing. There are other good curry places in the area so I probably won’t go here again.
