I’ve eaten in here 3 times over the last 3 months and I just cannot fathom how they operate their at table ordering. The first time we came they took over 30 minutes to take our food order, this was a mid week quiet evening. The food itself was very good and we were really impressed, other than the slow service. But we assumed it was just a one off oversight. We returned, this time a Saturday night, bringing another couple with us, we were at our booking for 6.30pm, we thought early enough to not have poor service. This time it was approximately 45 minutes until our order was taken, despite asking twice to give our order. It seems that only the owner and possible 1 other member of staff are trusted to take food orders, this may explain the extreme delays on being able to order your food. 3rd visit, this was a group of us, I wouldn’t have visited again, someone else booked it this time. This was a Monday evening, there was only 1 other table with a couple on. It was nearly 40 minutes until we were allowed to order our food this time (10 minutes after I prompted a waiter we wanted to order). I honestly cannot figure out why it takes so long to order your food, it’s either to delay you so you order more drinks / spend more money or the kitchen can’t deal with the amount of takeaways and it’s to stall the orders. Whatever it is, I shall not be returning due to the sheer frustration.

In my opinion THE BEST Indian restaurant in Horsham. Excellent dishes, reasonably priced, great service (Mash the owner is always personable, welcomes everyone as if they are his special guests, fabulous customer service). I love it! Cannot recommend highly enough.

This is one of our local Indian restaurants and we do like the flavour of the food served. However, it is a little frustrating that the vegetables used are not of a standard to match their flavour. I ordered the Vegetable Balti (as a non meat eater) which is described on the menu as being cooked in a ‘speciality Balti paste with pieces of onion, red and green pepper’ - my curry had none of these. The Balti vegetables mainly consist of a bagged frozen mix of sweetcorn, diced carrot and beans - I also got a piece of potato and a piece of cauliflower. I understand that it is costly to use fresh vegetables but stocking some onions and peppers should surely be covered in the prices charged. Even if the frozen mix was balanced with some freshly prepared vegetables it would make a difference and would mean we would be likely to order more often. The other local tandoori does include a wider range of vegetables so it would be great to see Elaichi do the same. If I was rating on flavour alone my rating would be better but in terms of quality of ingredients it has to be average.

Myself and my family have been coming to Darchinis since we moved to the area (11 years ago) - and we can never fault the quality of both the food and the service. The food is always amazing, fresh and hot - and the staff are so lovely and polite. They recently won an award, and we were all so happy to hear it - it couldn't have gone to more deserving people. We will carry on coming here for hopefully many more years :)

Delivered on time and hot. Really good value. I ordered the Naga Bengal with lamb, which I'd never had before but will be again. The smell of spices hits you as soon as you open the lid, and it's hot without being overpowering. Plenty of meat, which was tender and cooked well, even though I prefer it cut into larger pieces. There are finely chopped onions, peppers, and thick cut garlic visible in the sauce. It all felt very fresh and was finished with a generous coriander garnish. The pillau rice was cooked perfectly and really fragrant. I also tied a bit of the tikka masala which was creamy and thick with a coconut flavour. Garlic naans were large, my only issue would be that that they were a little dry. I like naan bread thick and soft, but they tasted good and there was lots of sauce to mop up. Overall extremely impressed with the quality, price, and friendly speedy service.

Stayed over in Horsham as had a team meeting on Monday 16th September! I am President of the Cheshire Curry Club and each time I go out I always adjudicate the same meal…Chicken Tikka Bhuna, madras hot…especially enjoyed the Papadom (not sure how you spell it) pickles…the curry itself was good, the chicken pieces a fair size, the rice portion was small…got to the bottom of the sauce and it had gone watery…overall I was pleased with the meal, always order the bottles of kingfisher or cobra as they are 660ml so more than a pint and for about 10p more so great value…Will visit again in 3mths…from Macclesfield in Cheshire.
