I visited here with a group of friends early in the New Year. My starter, a puri, was lovely. I had asked a member of staff to recommend something flavourful for my main dish, something rich in spice. I was advised to order a Balti, and so I did. I have never tasted a Balti like it. The dish was very sweet, so ridiculously sweet that I could not taste anything else. Someone in the kitchen must like sweet food as the nan was particularly sweet as well. I was very disappointed, especially as I had asked for a recommendation. I have visited the Cottage Tandoori intermittently over many years and have found it to be inconsistant. I cannot recommend it.

December 3rd. My 2 companions have long extolled the virtues of this restaurant & based on this, my 1st visit, justifiably so 👍.. The 3 of us were warmly greeted & escorted to our table. We had already decided that we would be treating ourselves to the Sunday Buffet, which was plentiful, flavoursome ,well presented & excellent VFM... I know we will return..😊👍😊

We were a bit dubious about coming here as we were on holiday in Amberley and didn't know the area. We read the reviews but thought lets give it a go. We had a great experience , lovely place, staff were very attentive and the food was piping hot and absolutely lovely. We love an Indian and always find one when we are away. Can honestly say it's the best we have had. Lovely and fresh and no oil floating on top, no after taste , always a good sign. The takeaways were flying out the door too! another good sign! Will come back next year now we have found this one!!

I've been going here for over 25 years and never had a bad meal. Always friendly attentive service and good understanding of my wife's gluten free diet. Can't recommend too highly. In the Covid times we've regularly been getting takeaways and still beautiful food.

We have used this restaurant quite a number of times both for eating in and takeaway and have always been happy. However last nights meal was a complete disappointment, to say the least. The starter of Tandoori platter was sparse and the chicken shashlick was a strange texture. Quite the worst we have ever had from this restaurant The onion bhajis were the size of golf balls and the naan was overcooked.The Saag Paneer had virtually no cheese in it. It’s very disappointing because we’ve never had cause to complain before but it has made us wary about using them again.

Shocking service will never use again.We ordered a takeaway to be delivered and were lenient when it was 15 minutes late as it is New Year’s Eve but they then failed to deliver my daughter’s curry and one of our sides but charged us for them. I called them over 30 times and each time they picked up and then hung up straight away. Disgusting customer service.

Have no idea how any bad reviews exist on this page. I am 31 and have been going here since I was a child. I have had currys all across the country and this is by far the very best of any. Lovely family business. Most import any of all, the curry is absolute top notch.

Had a couple of take aways from here during the last few weeks. Absolutely no complaints about the food or pricing. One huge issue is there website has been down for so long, you no visibility of their actual menus or hours of opening because they have no digital presence and these days that is poor and lazy. It’s in that’s too get through on the phone number if you can find one to order anything so each time we have to go along and order the takeaway in the restaurant which isn’t great. Please get the phone system and the website sorted.

We’ve been going to this restaurant for over 20 years and have never had a bad meal. The food is always excellent, the staff always polite and very knowledgeable about GF diets which is very important to my wife. Highly recommended

Visited this place whilst staying at the Roundabout (hotel round the corner, lovely) the food was great, we had to wait but we just put that down to the covid situation. The food was lovely. Will definitely visit again

Seven of us had an amazing meal at Cottage Tandoori, last night. The food was exceptional, well presented and served. Although we all had different choices, they all arrived correctly and quickly. The food was beautifully cooked and was delicious. We all felt very safe, with all the Covid precautions in place. A special thanks to Bod, as on leaving my car broke down and the R.A.C. gave me a 4-5 hour waiting time, but as Bod was leaving he saw my predicament and came to the rescue. MANY, MANY thanks Bod.

Consistent quality and delicious dishes every time. Cheerful staff and good value. Have been collecting a family takeaway from them regularly for the last 20 years.

This restaurant is keeping going thru difficult times the delivery never lets you down and having eaten in the restaurant loads have never been disappointed staff friendly and helpful sometimes have to wait when their busy but hey that’s a good thing right top marks

This is the best Indian for miles , been a customer since 1987. The restaurant and the take away are good as each other.

After a few disappointing meals, we have not visited or used the takeaway service for a number of years. However, we decided to have a lockdown takeaway last night and I have to say that it was superb. Generous servings of meat, delicious sauce and perfect naan bread. The service was flawless and safe. Well done guys! We will certainly be back again!

Several friends and I ordered a home delivery of various curries and sides. I had chicken Jalfreezi, which was the best I have ever tasted - wonderful very fresh vegetables and amazing chicken My friends said the same of their curries and sides. We will definitely be going back

Looking for a good Indian restaurant in the area, I had been told that this place was good. Went there with my wife and youngest daughter and her boyfriend. The service was very good and the food even better. Tender chicken cooked perfectly, so often chicken can be very dry but not at the Cottage Tandoori, perfect, very pleased. We had 2 different curry’s and the sauce’s tasted completely different.Portions were generous and the food was great. Nice premises. Finally I’m really pleased they deliver up to 6 miles away, this means we can order a takeaway and have it delivered to West Chiltington. Many thanks One more thing great value

We only come here now for Indian. The food is so good , fresh and tasty and all the staff are helpful. The Sunday buffet is incredibly good value for money. We were a large group of 19 and nothing was too much trouble. Look forward to coming back soon!

Food was excellent. Vegetarian was superb. Our table was in a dark part of the restaurant and they moved us on request

the food was delicious with plenty of vegetarian options one of the waiters was pushy and tried to force me to change my order which was definitely a blot on this visit, but otherwise a good experience

Been coming here for years. Food is cooked hot, fresh and is second to none. Onion bahjis and tandoori chicken tikka are spot on. Sunday buffet is excellent value, all tied up with great service from Raj and his team. The best this about this place is it’s consistency for both fantastic food and service.

Went their with a friend two weeks running. The second time they actually asked us if they could bring our main courses and starters out together! The whole evening felt as if they couldn’t get rid of us to go home fast enough.

First order here and it was lovely and fresh. Not too fatty or greasy. The vege curry had a range of different veges in. Really good. Will be returning...

Fantastic food here, reasonably priced and decent portions. Very clean and friendly staff. Lots of parking. Good for couples or large groups.

Excellent menu wide choice of dishes we both had Chicken curry dishes and several sides mushroom, potatoes cheese nan and pilau rice.

Started badly, sat down and we’re asked immediately if we wanted drinks no time to even open the menu. The waiter rushed us to order the drinks. The drinks came fairly quickly except for the water we asked for. We had to ask 3 times for the water. (It was a very hot evening and the restaurant was very warm too). We ordered a chicken passanda, chicken dansak, brinjal bhaji and a sag paneer. All the food wasn’t particularly hot the chicken was dry. The cheese in sag paneer was like rubber and the brinjal bhaji wasn’t very tasty. These are dishes we often order at other curry houses so we were very disappointed. So we left most of our food. When the waiter cleared our table I tried to tell him we were disappointed with the food but he either ignored us or didn’t understand. We definitely won’t be going back.

Very good food! Very nice staff and a lovely restaurant! Will be returning for sure! I am happy to say this in my top 3 favourite curry houses in Sussex!

Arrived at 7.30pm for a pre booked table. Took 20 minutes just to order drinks then another 10 minutes before we got them. Waiters seemed very confused and didn’t seem to know if we had ordered our meal or not.

Have been visiting the Cottage Tandoori in Storrington for around 10 years and can honestly say it is superior to any other Indian restaurant I’ve tried in Sussex and London. The staff are very friendly and attentive from the second you walk through the door, with coats taken and hung up. The food menu is extensive and service quick but not rushed. The Chicken Balti Bhuna is perfect and I would highly recommend it. The Naan bread is cooked with a little hint of ghee remaining to give it that authentic flavour. The onion bhajis can be a bit of a hit or miss when ordering a takeaway, as sometimes they can be very greasy though!

Visited this restaurant as part of our Wedding Anniversary Celebrations. Food was of a very high standard and staff were very friendly and attentive. This a first class eating experience for anyone who likes Indian cuisine. Also excellent value for money.

This is our local and we use it often. Having lived in London and travelled to India, I would say it's fairly standard. But the food is always good, the staff are lovely and the whole is well presented.

Service was efficient and courteous. The waiters made sure we all had drinks before presenting us with the menu and check to make sure we all had what we had ordered.

Welcoming, friendly atmosphere. Food that is simply delicious. We're local and have food delivered often but it's well worth a trip to sit in which we do a few times a year.

Our first order from The Cottage Tandoori - the first of many I am sure! Our food was delivered piping hot and in very generous portions. Ingredients were fresh and great quality, the individual flavours were clean and very enjoyable. We had rogan josh & balti, both fantastic. The keema naan was light and fluffy, not thick and gloopy. Rice was fluffy and the onion bhaji was crispy. It was worth the few extra pence per dish!

In a nutshell the food was poor, the curry tasted very bitter, there was no depth of flavour just a very harsh taste...i had a lamb Dansak which had no balance of flavour. The rice was dry, and the nan bread undercooked....

I love Indian style food and eat out out weekly. This was my first visit to The Cottage Tandoori thanks to a friend living close by.

The food was amazing, the chicken korma was the best I've had and the takeaway service is great. The portion sizes are very genernous and the nan bread was lovely. Definitely will be ordering from here agin. Prices are very reasonable as well.

My son and I came across this excellent restaurant in 2016 when visiting the Festival of Speed at Goodwood. We were so impressed then we came to the restaurant in 2017 and again this year during the FOS.

As usual, a very nice meal. We always find the food well prepared and a portion size.

We decided to meet our family for the Sunday buffet charged at £12.50 per head. There were 5 adults and our grand children an 18 month year old and a 5 year old.

We have had consistently good Take Away food from this restaurant. We have eaten in but the far end has rather cramped seating.

Tasty Indian food provided by friendly and courteous staff If you want something different to that stated on the menu the chef is happy to provide and the waiting staff will be pleased to make suggestions on order to tweak your dining experience

I have been a regular customer of the Cottage Tandoori, both the restaurant and takeaway service, for quite a number of years. I have to say that I have never been disappointed with the quality of either the food or the service. I have travelled extensively in India and I do know the real thing when I taste it!

We hadn't booked on a Thursday but needn't have worried as it wasn't that busy. First impressions are good, with comfortable cream leather seating and a friendly welcome.

We were visiting the area and booked a table here. A very nice restaurant all our meals were tasty well presented and perfectly served by the attentive waiters. We would return a very pleasant evening.

Sadly, the chicken curry had no flavour, was bland and tasteless. Had they forgotten to put any spices in ? The accompanying dishes were also not up to their old standard. However, the actual chicken was tender but again bland.

This place is poor. It is expensive, the food is bland, service is average. I recommend you drive eight miles south to Findon where you will find two far superior establishments. That this restaurant features regularly in the local press, re their employment tactics and subsequent 6 figure unpaid fines, just adds to the reason to avoid.

Delicious buffet with a number of choices for vegetarians and carnivores. The brinjal bhaji was wonderful.

Got a takeaway for two on new year,s eve. Very quick. Good value. Food very tasty. Not much parking area. About 7 car spaces but 2 white vans were blocking access.

We went here a year ago, and it was okay then! Not bad enough to not return, however, the food was bland - there are a lot better Indian restaurants! And the service was absolutely terrible. We went last night on New Year’s Eve, we were asked to order straight away, I asked if they had prosecco to which the man stared at me blankly then walked away to get another member of staff, and at 10.30 we were asked if we would like anything else, my partner was about to ask for a beer before the man said we are closing in 15 minutes. Iv never felt more unwelcome. We wanted to make the cottage tandoori our traditional place to go around Christmas every year but for the expense, we will be finding another local Indian restaurant. Hugely disappointed.

We've tried so many different Indian restaurants and take aways over the years. This is by far the best we've ever had. Food is always consistent, meat is excellent, and you don't just get a sloppy boring sauce like most take aways - it's actually got substance and ingredients! Can't fault it.

Always great food, can’t fault their amazing curries which are cooked to perfection! Only place I would go to get Indian food, well worth a visit, you won’t be disappointed!

We ended up dining here (it's definitely still open in response to the last reviewer) when our main option was not available. Pretty uninspiring routine menu (including drinks) and service, with lots of takeaways being collected behind us. I would certainly not return and cannot recommend.

The quality of the food here improved tremendously once we gave specific instructions on how we liked it. We became regulars.However we were just advised the restaurant and its sister in Ashington have been closed down due to hiring illegals workers.Worth checking out..

Not an overly warm welcome Condiments that came with poppadoms are ok but i've had better. A rather dubious vivid green sauce. Main course was good. Worth a takeaway next time.

Arrived 6.30pm Saturday evening. Ordered popadoms - they were fine with the various chutneys. During half an hour we were interrupted 4/5 times by waiters (of whom there were many) if we were ready to order. We were not ready and felt really rushed. We had booked the table in advance so it was not as if we were a "walk in". The restaurant was only half full and also a lot of take aways, that they seemed to take presedence. A waiter came over (again) and said if we did not order we would go to the back of the queque. So in a rush we ordered. I had the chicken Tikka, it was dreadful - it was undercooked and tasted like the crab sticks you can buy from any supermarket. First bite and I just knew I would not be able to eat it and if I did I would have been sick. Did not even taste like chicken, just bland undercooked rubber.A Friend had a korma,very bland, another friend had a madras and it was not hot and the other friend had tikka which she said was just about ok!. Now, after having tried to enjoy our popadoms and being rushed to order food, we were kept waiting 45 minutes for the main food and yet other people who came in after us, were served! On leaving the premises early as food was awful, paid the bill (in excess of £100) and not even a thank you for our custom. Would we go back - Absolutely not - would we recommend - absolutely not.

Normally great food and service but one Saturday we went and were kept waiting ages for each course while others were served before us who had come in after us.

It's truly commendable how this superb Indian restaurant has maintained such a high class standard for over 30 years. The Food is excellent and the service is brilliant and extremely friendly with a very personal touch. You will not be disappointed.

Dropped in en route back to London from Chichester. It was busy being a Saturday evening. Nice welcome. Seated in a booth which was rather snug for 4 people. Food - splendid and large portions. Delicious flavours and some more unusual dishes especially the veggie ones. Great professional and attentive service. We had over-ordered so the excess was boxed up for us to take home. Great value for money given we had quite a few drinks and lots of food for about £100. Left very satisfied and looking forward to visiting on our next trip to Chichester.

Had buffet which was excellent value at £12.50 for all you can eat. Food authentic and good quality. Shame they charge extra for the pickles to go with the poppadoms.

This was quite disappointing as it's the first time having a takeaway from the Cottage and the reviews were good. However the meals were quite bland, rice dry and possibly not that fresh and chicken tikka rubbery (again suspect not that fresh). Overall not worth going back and at £56 for 3 people it isn't cheap either

Friendly, welcoming staff, lovely clean and tastefully decorated restaurant and a good varied menu with delicious food.

Trying to find a place to eat as we returned from the beach. We were looking for a pub but ended up trying out this curry house. So pleased we did. Had a fantastic curry. Great menu, draft Cobra and lovely staff. Had delicious starters which were pretty big really. The lamb main course I had was tender and the sauce not too hot but had some kick as the waiter had advised. The rest of my family loved their choices too. With tip the bill ended up £25 per head so I was very happy with value too. If I am back this way I'll be sure to go there again...I may even make a special trip! Thank you!

Always enjoy a visit to this smart and comfortable establishment, but this was the first time I had tried the Sunday Buffet which at £12.50 represents excellent value. Good choice of dishes served from small hot boxes and replenished regularly so everything is freshly cooked. The lamb was especially nice as was the several Chicken dishes, we will return many times I am sure. The buffet is served lunchtime and again in the evening. Highly recommended.

My girlfriend and I visited The Cottage Tandoori tonight and were welcomed with a warm smile from the many well dressed staff , the waiters were very professional and everything was presented perfectly, the food was outstanding and I expected a much larger bill as the quality of the food exceeded my expectations. All I can say is that I am already looking forward to our next dining experience at The cottage tandoori Storrington ! First class AAAAAAAA++++++++++++

I use the tandoori restaurant and take away service and both really are excellent. I don't go anywhere else for my curry!My last visit to the restaurant was for my mums 70th Birthday party. They gave us our own area, let us decorate and bring a cake and catered for 2 vegans, 3 vegetarians as well as 7 others. They were incredibly helpful and really made us feel welcome! The staff are really friendly and the service not rushed like some places. I really highly recommend them. It isn't the cheapest curry around but it is by far the best in my opinion hence taking the time for this review. Try it, you won't be disappointed!

Went on a Sunday afternoon for the all-you-can-eat buffet. Now when it comes to buffet I'm more concerned with quantity rather than quality. Lucky this place has both!!I have to say I was very very impressed! The food was absolutely delicious.Lovely ambience in the restaurant, staff were very friendly, made us feel very welcome even with a 2-year-old in tow.I would highly recommend.
