The best restaurants serving Indian food in Hertsmere East of England

Myself and a colleague were in the area with work and searched for an Indian restraint bear the hotel. Two popped up nearby so we chose Tamarind as it had a higher rating. We could not have made a better choice tne place was well presented inside, spotless in fact. The service was first class and the food had yummy. Great value for money. Pity I dint kuve nearer 😁

We ordered Kolkata Chicken Biriyani (the very dish that attracted me as we don’t have many places selling this) and to be honest I was not very hopeful that it’ll be authentic. So I was not expecting much from it anyway - but to my disappointment, it didn’t even have the basic biriyani flavours. No trace of kewra water, rose water or meetha water whatsoever which was advertised on the menu. If you’re making any kind of biriyani with chunky over cooked breast pieces, then sorry! it’s not biriyani. It just tasted like some chicken dry gravy mixed rice. The home style on the bone chicken curry was not great either and I am yet to taste their mutton curry (which I also ordered) but I’m not even bothered to open that box now.

Excellent food, kind staff (especially the quite old owner who still is active and happy to be there, very touching, even though one should not insist to order with him). Highly recommend !

Food is tasty but hygene is SO BAD I will not eat from there, Hygene rating is !. Just abouve being shut down. DO NO T EAT HERE.

I have been here many times and celebrated with family and friends on special occasions. The staff always make you feel welcome, and nothing is too much trouble that you may ask for. I would definitely recommend it, and the food is excellent value for money on a Sunday and Tuesday. Thank you to all the staff for making me and my sister's birthdays 🎂 an enjoyable evening.

Fantastic service, food was excellent, service was very quick. Memorable experience. Would highly recommend ordering their “Special Set Thali”, the concept is similar to tapas.

Went there for our anniversary dinner. The service and food was excellent. The king prawn tikka masala and king prawn biryani were to die for. A lovely setting for an intimate date. Highly recommend and will defo dine there again.

Awful awful food…chewy meat that had to sent back with no apologies. So many better Indian restaurants to eat at in the vicinity

Ordered takeaway - tandoori chicken tikka was totally bland almost like they had forgotten to add spices, the cheese naan was tasteless no cheese. Very disappointed!!!

We ordered a takeaway curry for my son who has a nut allergy. We asked if the curry could be made with no nuts and were reassured that the dish could be made nut free. When we got the dish home I asked my husband to double check with the restaurant as the dish smelt of nuts. When we called the restaurant they had not listened to the seriousness of the request nor demonstrated care in responding to my son’s allergy and the dish did contain nuts. Please do not eat here if you have a food allergy - the risk is too great - the restaurant didn’t listen nor take our requests seriously which could have been fatal.
