I rarely write reviews but i have to say Akash is the best family run Indian restaurant I have been to. Perfect for a late night curry , I have been quite few times with my family and friends - I recommend the chicken tikka biryani and chicken jalfrezi it's mouth watering , spicy and delicious and the portions are perfect. The service is impeccable , Akash really did looked after us and I can see how the waiter's really care for there customers Thank you for being very welcoming and I can't wait to come back!!!

One of the best indian currys ive had in recent times. I was in town a friend was performing at the local theatre (Addams Family) Had time for dinner so was a choice between this and the chinese (Tims table) Chose this and oh boy.. was i happy i chose this... proper Indian food not the rubbish being served in central london... We had prawns and Madras, tandoori chicken.. their naan bread was done to perfection. Customer service was on point. Thank you Akash and will be back very soon again

The food here is amazing! I've been here lots of times and it has never failed me. From the excellent service from the waiters to the flavoursome food, you just can't go wrong with this place. I honestly can not choose a favourite dish. Everything was just amazing. Perfect place to go with family and friends.

Awful experience at the Akash, served meat instead of vegetables & were assured it was cauliflower before they realised it wasn’t (which was too late) we felt sick afterwards . Clearly no care or consideration for allergies in the kitchen, would not trust this food ever again, such a let down because we would have returned multiple times otherwise. Do not risk this restaurant if you are vegetarian.

Akash has always been a good local Indian but since its renovation has elevated itself to a new level! Food and service as good as ever and we thoroughly recommend a visit!

I had a delicious takeaway. Every dish was delicious and I won’t be going anywhere else for my local Indian. We had very tasty butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, paratha, tandoori prawns and vegetable pilau rice. All 10 out of 10.

Super food with excellent and most personal service. Came back after a shocking 28 year return to Radlett and was delighted to enjoy a lovely evening meal. Well done Akash - enduring quality and wonderful service

There's a reason that this restaurant has been in Radlett since 1985. It has the best Indian food in the area. We have been overseas for a number of years and recently returned to Radlett, we were very pleasantly surprised to see that Akash had gone through a really nice interior renovation and that the food was still as good as we remembered it. Nice location, parking only a short walk away. Definitely recommend!

Overall a pleasant evening with staff responding quickly to requests. A well decorated room with good linens. Food nicely served but the chicken dishes we all had were quite chewy and I was surprised that the chicken tikka, normally served in large pieces straight from the tandoori oven, were small broken pieces. Portions were generally small. We were the last table to leave but they had already opened the front doors to let the chilly air in. Nothing out of the ordinary.

I came here with my daughter and her boyfriend after there baby revealing We got there at 10 to 6 by was more than happy to see toss and get us a drink and some poppadoms while we wait for the kitchen to open the food was excellent it’s 10 out of 10 service and the food was lovely piping hot mom broke was lovely star friendly cleanliness of the place was top-notch thanks very much a cash

First try at this cafe - ordered basic curries - to take away - prompt delivery but the food - bland, very wet swimming in something - just the heat of the curry - not nice

My fiancée and I stopped by for a late evening meal and it was delicious. The Chicken Karahi tasted great and the Honey Korma special was particularly tasty. Will definitely be back and would highly recommend!

Ordered a takeaway at 19:15 Sat Eve, first time from here, delivery was ASAP up to 90 mins which was fine. By 20:55 it had not arrived so I called as concerned they had not picked up the online order, gentleman said it was waiting...

First time visiting this restaurant - chosen mainly for being equidistant for my group of friends. All I can say is what a find!Good friendly service and really tasty food - some of the best flavours I have encountered. Although not specifically on the menu, I asked for my favourite lamb saag balti and the restaurant was happy to prepare it for me. Excellent!It does get quite busy though - a sign of how good it is no doubt - so make sure you book in advance. I promise you won't be disappointed.

One of the best Indian restaurants around especially on a cold winter's night, the food is so tasty book early because it's gets very busy.

Been here loads of times as it is an easy local walk for us, and as always, it is fantastic. Can thoroughly recommend. My fave dish is the King Prawn Patia.

The food here is good and reasonably priced, the Wednesday banquet offer is very good value. Friendly and efficient service in nice surroundings.

I'm a regular here and overall the food is good, the restaurant is clean and the staff relatively welcoming. This is apart from last night where I went to collect a takeaway. Having paid for my meal already, I decided to buy one of those large Cobra beers to go with it. Cost £4.95. I didn't have cash on me but offered a contactless card which i had just used to pay for the meal. Unbelievably the chap behind the bar responded that the minimum charge was £10. Another staff member was stood next to me (not sure whether staff or part owner) recognised me and said "don't worry you're a regular so have it on us" however upon hearing this the guy behind the bar in a sudden panic he was about to lose the £4.95, produced the card machine overruling his colleague and pointed out that the beer wasn't free. (The minimum charge miraculously disappeared) Overall a money grabbing trait I was not pleased to see....Goodwill would have gone a long way here as I said to the kinder one of the two that whilst I'm a regular now i may not be in the future!!!

Regular customer to Akash for both sit in meals and take away. Absolutely delicious freshly cooked food and good portion sizes. I have not had a bad meal here yet, and the Wednesday dining offer is also very good value. Very friendly staff and service, always make you feel welcome.

we went here on our way to London, the people were great and had a laugh as my family are regulars here, the food was different to our local one but very nice, my only criticism would be the price of the wine, £20 for house red and it wasn't that great, this wouldn't stop me going back

We eat fairly regularly at the Akash. My wife has special dietary requirements and they prepare special meals for her. The food is good and the staff very helpful. We also use this restaurant for takeaway meals which they deliver.

The food is always to the same great standard and you can dine in or take away. The staff are so friendly and take the time out to say hello when dining in. Food is reasonably priced and offer a banquet night on a Wednesday that is great value. For me, this is the only Indian restaurant to eat at.

Came here whilst staying in the nearby Premier Inn, we were seen straight to a table and drinks were ordered. The starter cane very quickly and was Lovely, the same can be said for the mains. My only criticism is that the naan bread was slightly undercooked.

The food here is pretty good. I come often as the menu is varied and they do a deal on Wednesdays that is great value!

Shocking! Will never go back. My companion and I asked for a jug of water while we were deciding what to eat. We received a bottle and one glass. Asked for second glass and a bottle of beer appeared. Food was OK (ish) nothing special. The young waiter was churlish and totally disinterested. An older waiter asked if we wanted anything else after we had finished the main course, we said we would decide, instantly the bill arrived. Another server, who I assume was the manager kept asking if we were ready to leave, when we asked for coffee he told us that would not be possible as the coffee machine 'had not been put on yet'. Again, we were asked if we were ready to leave. All this and before 19:30. There were some people waiting to eat, but we appeared to be the only couple they was urging to leave. I will not be back, and my regular takeaway order will be going elsewhere. VERY DISAPPOINTING

Estoy totalmente de acuerdo con la reseña abajo este es el peor que he tenido para llevar nadando en aceite saturado que sabía. El pollo tikka estaba totalmente seca. Toda la comida era poner en la papelera. Mi marido y yo sólo he pedido de estos chicos cuando estamos desesperados y cada vez que nos dicen que nunca pedir de ellos. . Esta vez fue la última. Cuando llamé para quejarme y pedir un reembolso a la persona que contesta el teléfono dijo que el director me llamaran pero nadie tenía la cortesía de llamarme.

Visited on a Wednesday night. The place was quite busy as there was a promotion offer available. This was good value. I would say the food was OK, but agree with a previous comment left about the curry being quite oily. Staff were friendly, and speed of service good despite being full.In summary - food just OK, good value for money.

Visited on a Saturday night with no reservation. Good atmosphere, prompt and attentive service and good food. The king prawns in the bhuna were a good size and plentiful and the chicken for the other main dish succulent. Worth a visit in my opinion!

We're Indian, live in Radlett and usually travel to Stanmore, Harrow, Queensbury for a decent curry, but tonight we thought we'd give one of the local Indian restaurants a go. What a mistake! Our take away from Akash was one of the worst meals we've had - the food was drenched in oil, lacked flavour altogether and the nan was burnt. We ended up throwing it out. Would definitely never eat here again.

If there is a better restaurant out there, I'm yet to find it. I do not say this lightly. Get yourself there and make food meet face

We come here as a couple and also as a family. The staff always greet you like a friend not just a customer. The food is also really good and the staff offer good advice and what you would like if you fancy changing from your normal order. Cobra is always nice and cold and the wine is drinkable. I would class this as a friendly restaurant with very reasonable and good food.

We attend this restaurant regularly and are never disappointed. The only time the service was slightly slow was on a Saturday night and that is only because it is so busy because it is so good!! The food was good but waiting to be served and ignored a couple of times waiters tend to stick round the bar totally disorganised and 25 minutes to clear the table and get the bill next time if there is a next time we will get a takeaway

We have been visiting the Akash restaurant regularly for over 30 years - and it has never disappointed. 'Mr Akash' is as warm-natured, kindly and friendly as he was then and the cuisine is, and always has been, first class. My favourite is the half tandoori style chicken, but the menu is extensive and should not disappoint. Weekends are usually very busy - so best to book, but weekdays it is usually ok to 'arrive'. This restaurant has truly stood the test of time and has out-seen- and out-shone its rivals. Need I say more - highly recommended.

We were seated at a table where there was considerable mess beneath it-admittedly we hadn't booked but there were 3 empty tables. We had to ask for serviettes.The poppadams were fine, onion bhajis greasy , over-cooked and flavourless-no lemon as is usual as an accompaniment. Mymain course was "fresh green vegetables in a cashew sauce"-a few green beans but lots of potato and not a sign of a cashew. The rice was stuck together. I asked for water which never came. No-one asked us if our meal was OK.We left very disappointed and will not return.

Special menu with any starter, side, main, rice and a nan for only £17.50.Food presentation was great, friendly staff, fast service and good atmosphere. The food was excellent! This restaurant has plenty of choice.We visited on a Sunday night for a girls night out.The food was good and served quickly.I can recommend the chicken in a creamy honey sauce.

At the behest of some friends we revisited this delightful restaurant. I have to say the food is even better than I remembered.We only had a main course but by the time I had finished - well at least what I could eat of the large serving - i remembered just how good this old established restaurant is.Can't recommend it highly enough.

The poppadum was nice and warm and dips to accompany were good too. Had chefs special chicken and lamb balti both had plenty of meat in them and we're very tasty. Service was good too. Only complaint was they only had bottled beer none on tap

Blue Eyes and I decided on a quick Indian meal early Saturday Evening. We live local and thought we'd take a walk into Radlett and spice up our Saturday Evening at Akash. Friendly Staff, Very Average Food cheap wine To be honest it is what it is. These type of local restaurants should really move with the times and try to improve their standards. I personally would rather pay more to get a better quality meal in an updated atmosphere and no sticky dirty menus :)

We have been eating at The Akash for years and our meal last week was, sadly, a little disappointing. Usually it is much better but the usual management were away and we really noticed a difference. The food took ages to appear (the restaurant was 10% full) and when it did, it looked like it had been sitting for some time, it was lukewarm and it needed reheating. The staff were pleasant but following the reheat, the food was greasy and tasted bland. It's a shame as there are many other good Indian restaurants in the area and we like this place.

My partner and i went for dinner one Friday a few weekends ago, had an amazing curry so we went back again last night on the spare of the moment. The manager is such a lovely man, so welcoming and he recognised us from our last visit which is nice. I love my curries and i can say for sure that i've found my new favourite.Will 100% be going back on the regular

We are regular visitors here (at least once a month). This is a fab restaurant and we've never had a bad meal. The staff are attentive and always happy to make a recommendation. On a Wednesday Akash also has a great value set menu deal. We've happily recommended this place to friends! The menu is extensive without being overwhelming and we always love to try something from the specials.

Me and my partner became regulars here 2years ago and we are forever going back. The food is excellent and staff are always happy to help you find something to your fancy, the price is unbelievably cheap we have been to many indians where i have paid £8 for a korma here just under £6 the naans are lovely and soft not chewy or like cardboard. This is highly recommended

Last night we went for the Wednesday night special deal and oh it was special. The food was exquisite, cooked perfectly, the service was excellent and the price was great also. Definitely one for us, on a Wednesday or any other night. Friends, family, we went as a couple but I have gone with friends before and we all had a lovely evening on each occasion. The owners are very friendly and welcoming as are the staff. There is lots of choice on the menu and the waiters will help if you need it too. Lovely food, lovely people. Thank you it was our pleasure.

This is my go to Indian when I want to have a local Indian without any faff (it's not fancy scmanchee).You always receive a very warm welcome from the team.They are friendly without being overbearing.My girlfriend always orders the same, but I pick something different every time that I go there and ask them what they recommend, which true to form, depending on hat I tell them I fancy, is spot on.Food is full of flavours and large portion size, that we usually end up leaving with a doggy bag.The ingredients are fresh as you like and you can evidently taste this no matter what dish you order.They have a really good menu selection too.On one occasion my girlfriend didn't like the wine that she had chosen, she didn't say anything, but they noticed she had hardly had any, so they just offered to change it, even though they had opened the bottle, little touches like that.So, excellent service, good all round Indian that is reliable and not had a bad meal there yet, so will always go back.

Three of us went to celebrate our birthdays and on this evening a Wednesday they have a special deal meal. It was so lovely. The service is excellent, the food delicious and run by a family who are so friendly and helpful. You get a starter, a main course, rice or a nan, and a side dish all for £12.50. Definitely highly recommend this restaurant if you like Indian food. The owners really make you feel special. I came home and told my husband we are going back again very soon, such a wonderful evening.

Very comfortable restaurant, no flock wallpaper, no 40w bulbs, no dreadful wailing music, and with apologies to anyone who likes that kind of atmosphere it doesn't do it for me. A quick week night meal with friends, and between us we had vegetarians and meat mains, plenty of side dishes, popadoms to start (of course) and both soft drinks and modest amounts of wine/beer. Attentive but not overbearing service from the staff. First time there and will happily return.All for £15/head

had a take out from Akash waited a very short time fro delivery,food arrived nice and hot,included was mango chutney and onion salad plus nan bread and pompadoms.my wife had Lamb Tikka Korma excellent not sure what i had as it was their recommendation,but can can say it was outstanding and i will be ordering again very soon.it blows all other indian meals out of this world.

Saturday evening and we decided to go to an Indian. With the power of Yelp search we found a local one that we hadn't tried before.I called ahead to see if they had availability and they were lovely and polite over the phone and told us to come on down.We walked in, not too busy, and picked a table. I liked the fact that just because there were only two of us they didn't restrict us to a two seated table and we sat at a four by the window.They took our drinks order straight away and gave us poppadoms and dips.We looked through a comprehensive menu and made our choices.The boyff wanted a lamb chop for starter - random I know - and we ordered the mains too.The lamb chop was cooked beautifully and was a decent chop of good quality lamb.Mains came out....I had chicken tikka balti, which was lovely, I was surprised just how much chicken there was in the dish! It was cooked to an excellent standard and had lots of flavours running through it. The boyff had lamb jalfrazzi and he said it was excellent! He didn't talk the whole way though and was just nodding and mmmmn'ing!We had some Bombay potatoes as a side and they were delicious! I nearly ordered some just to take home with me.When we had finished, we asked for the bill, we were served fresh orange slices to cleanse our mouths with (obviously I ate them like you used to as a child and found it highly amusing), and some warm wipes.We paid and were bought the typical after dinner mint chocolate squares.The waiter chatted to us for a little bit and was so friendly, without being over bearing.We left, with the waiter getting the door and full tummies!I will definitely be going back here. Very good standard of food and great service.A top shout if you want Indian out, without paying through the most for pretentious contemporary Indian food that you get at other restaurants.

On the drive home back to the Midlands my wife and I were famished and were in need of some serious food. We stumbled across Akash by chance and chose to give it a try.I am pleased to say that the service was exemplary and the food was of great taste. The culinary experience was highly satisfying and our waiter on the night was attentive and catered to our needs however small the request.If we ever find ourselves in the Hertfordshire region again in the not too distant future, we are sure to visit this gem of a restaurant.

We took our American friend to the Akash. I was told it was very good but we had never been. The service the wonderful, the attention to detail, the menu amazing so many choices and food was delicious. We were so happy. My friend wants to go back when she visits from New York next year. We will be back well before then. We hear they do takeaway too and have a super value Wednesday evening too, so we might give that a try also. Thank you such pleasant and professional friendly staff. Definitely worth a visit and a second and a third.

Nothing seems too much trouble for the staff of this great restaurant. I've been coming here for many years and the excellent standard never varies.

Indian restaurants can sometime vary but here the service and food and value are excellent. Come back time and time again and always leave happy.

I can't believe the bad reviews of Akash. I live locally and have visited this restaurant many many times over the last few years. Attentive friendly staff and really tasty food. Admittedly I'm a fan of mild to medium rather than hot or very hot dishes, but to me taste I really have never had a better Indian.

i went there recently with afriend we only had the starter enough said .bit to compound this the waiter tried t charge us for more than we had.the owner was very apologetic but we wont be returning there

We've been coming to Akash for the last 12 years and we have no plans to stop. We love everything about the place. Firstly, the food is excellent. I'm no curry connoisseur - I'm a korma girl and theirs is the best I've had anywhere, and that includes Brick Lane. Secondly, the service is always good and the staff are very friendly and welcoming, usually remembering us from our 12 years of visits! Third, fourth, fifth...etc reasons for always choosing Akash are the atmosphere (comfortably quiet and relaxed with soft lighting which is just what we want after a hard day at work), Banquet Wednesdays (starter, main, rice/naan and side for under £13) and the staff's repeated willingness to box up our leftovers for us to take away (of which there's a lot on a Wednesday). I don't know what restaurant the negative reviewers on here have been to but I can't believe it was Akash. We can't speak highly enough of the place.

Terrible Terrible Terrible!!!!!!Now I'm a curry nut and it's got to be pretty bad for me not to like it. I'm not one of life complainers usually. But my experience last night compelled me to review this restaurant. The place was clean and smart and the staff pleasant but the food was shockingly bad. Over cooked chicken and bland the keema was tasteless the rice was hard and I've had better onion bhajis out of Sainsbury's. Diet coke was poured from a half empty 2 litre bottle and flat. I didn't complain and paid the bill and left. I wish I had said something but was in a rush,

Even made some dished not on the menu.Food arrived hot and good portion sizes.Service fine - restaurant was very busy.Extreme reasonably priced.Will definitely return.

I have been going to the Akash with family and friends since I was young. The food is always amazing and I love the service its perfect. Taking your coats at the door etc. I hope to fancy an Indian in 10 years and be able to take my kids one day haha!

I usually eat in the restaurant where the staff are very friendly and the food is great. I went to order a take away this evening only to discover the number above belongs to a private residence in Radlett who wished me good luck finding my meal but unfortunately they don't really cook. Amusement aside, the correct number is as above except ends in 8 rather than 2. Hope this helps!
