The best restaurants serving Indian food in England

We order two meals with sides last night, through the web app, which was simple and speedy. Order arrived within 30 minutes, which was excellent for a Friday peak time order. Food was absolutely fantastic, one of the best we have had in many ,any years. Will definitely be ordering again.

How the mighty have fallen. This used to be the finest Indian restaurant in Surrey with wonderful food and great service. Not any more. Having visited for the 1st time in about 2 years the change was jarring. Having been shown to our table it took over 25 minutes until we were able to order drinks and food which is unacceptable in any restaurant, but particularly somewhere as prestigious as Le Raj. It then took a further 30 minutes before the starter finally arrived (restaurant was around 50% full) and well over an hour before the main course arrived. Food has gone downhill too. I had possibly the most unappetizing naan I've ever eaten, which appeared to have been glazed with some sort of sugar, making it hard texture, sweet to taste & deeply unpleasant. My wife (who is an award winning Asian chef herself) discovered her biryani was infused with Rose water prompting the question "so wrong - just what are they doing back there ?" I don't think "disappointing" is quite strong enough to express how I felt when I left. I won't be coming back.

Probably the most overpriced expensive restaurant I've ever been to. Guru in Finchley was always good value but not anymore, treble the price and food nowhere near as good as it used to be years ago. Hard to find a place these days that don't rip you off. The thing is if you create good value you always have a busy restaurant but owners these days have zero business sense

Always great food and service from the Bengal - highly recommended

We’ve just moved from London and Zafrani was one of the first takeaways we’ve had. Their lamb briyani is one of the best I’ve had, so incredibly tender!! Amazing food, generous portions and they very kindly threw in complimentary onion bhajis and papadoms. Will be one of our go to’s from now on!

Absolutely disgusting attitude from the staff extremely rude, I will never ever order take away again. Never experienced anything like I have tonight They must not want the business so DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING FROM THIS TAKEAWAY

Very bad, not suitable for living. Food is contaminated and not added. Failed management. The place must be monitored by the competent authorities (it also causes diseases)

Nice and quiet. Lovely set. Because of using dummy waiter they need to work out on how to keep the food hot(temperature).

Always had lovely meals here. Delivery and eating in best Indian i have been to. Baji’s are to die for. Such a shame that they have closed down. Going to miss them so much!

Food is brilliant, all ways hot and very good price

Nos dimos un capricho con una comida para llevar el sábado por la noche, pero estábamos tan decepcionados con la comida, el servicio y la experiencia en general. Algunos de nuestros problemas se resumen a continuación: Pedimos en persona y luego volvimos a recoger. El pub era ruidoso, y al azar en el proceso de pedido, pero el gerente confirmó mi pedido. - El Pollo Dhansak que pedí había sido reemplazado por un Pollo Tika Masala (que no me gusta) - El pollo Tika Masala tenía mal sabor, la salsa era flácida y porción media de pollo (ver foto) -Mis esposas Pollo Tika tenían mal sabor y porción pequeña - El pan de ajo tenía poco sabor a ajo y era stogy y húmedo - Los chutney/pepinillos (que no había pedido pero me cobraron) eran muy pequeños, mango un puré demasiado dulce, ensalada de cebolla amarga y yogur sintético -Arroz Pilau bastante básico En casi £ 40 para dos personas, recogido esto no era una buena relación calidad-precio para lo que era realmente comida de mala calidad, porciones y servicio

Food usually good but retuarant has gone down market numbers on tables , tables close together . Large birthday group , kids running around aka macdonalds but it was 7 in the evening. Food was terrible ordered a king prawn madras, the sauce was like gravy and the prawns were small and tasteless so I suspected they were off Did not eat the meal , asked for the bill., my comments were shrugged off and told to pay on the way out.as it was easier on the staff . Never going again.now very down market .

Absolutamente horrible. Pedí que me cocinaran sin aceite y todos los platos estaban absolutamente nadando en él. Incluso el arroz. El marido tenía pollo tandoori y el suyo estaba en un tazón lleno de aceite también. El servicio era pobre. Lo planteé con el hombre a cargo y aunque había tomado la orden, se encogió de hombros y dijo que cocinaban con aceite. Deberían haber dicho eso en lugar de aceptar cocinar sin aceite.
