so disappointed. noisy music, harsh lighting, one out of two women’s loos broken, charmless, no advice over menu, starter came in two minutes, the cauliflower undercooked in a heavy sauce ( we pointed this out, removed from the bill. main courses ok but heavy gloopy sauces. nice crispy pilau rice, smallest raita i have ever seen. we did not finish our food or wine. had been excited as we can walk here but will not return

We had a fantastic dinner here. I understand it was a new menu, and everything we ate was delicious. Colourful, tasty and beautifully presented plates of food, served by friendly and knowledgeable waiting staff. Highlights were sticky pork ribs, a duck seekh kebab and lamb chop. Also delicious was the dal makhani and quinoa tiki. There were some surprising touches too that punctuated the meal, like a fresh tasting pani puri of chickpea, moong sprouts and coriander water which really packed a punch, and a palate cleanser of sorbet, rose marmelade and Prosecco! Price point is very good for the quality of the food.

This is a perfect place for utterly fabulous North Indian cuisine, exceptional flavour and beautiful presentation at very reasonable prices. A gem of a restaurant with welcoming and knowledgeable staff who make the dining experience thoroughly enjoyable.

Heard they don’t pay their workers service charge or tips, not surprised considering I witnessed the manager lecturing their staff in front of the whole restaurant; quite frankly just unprofessional and uncomfortable to see. 🙃

Amazing food! Absolutely delicious, especially the sauces. And the lamb chops. In fact, everything was amazing and the service low key, friendly and attentive.

Food - excellent. Service - outstanding. The experience - terrible. It was Friday evening, but the restaurant was far too noisy and I am not prepared to spend a relaxed meal shouting at my partner. Adding to the noise was pounding, inappropriate music. We asked them to turn it down or off, which they did, but five minutes later it was back on again. What I do not understand about this is why a restaurant with undoubtedly refined food cannot create a refined atmosphere at the same time. As another commentator has said, it is time to go back to Babur.

I wanted to try this place as the reviews were so good and I’m always looking for good south Asian food that’s different to the usual. While the service at Kokum was very good, my friend and I both agreed the food was only one level up from the regular Indian. The Tilapia starter was the highlight so all good there. The goat cheesy samosa with a weird berry chutney did not work. There was nothing wrong with poussin but nothing special and the same with Dhal Makhani which was a disappointment. We believed the hype and probably won’t be back.

Came here with friends last night for dinner and it was amazing. Such a nice restaurant with a great vibe. Food was awesome, the pork rib starter was amazing as were the lamb chops. The pork vindaloo main was also a firm favourite as was the chicken in lime and coconut. Simran and her team looked after us and made sure we had all we needed. What a great place. Will definitely be back! Dastaan, which is also fantastic, is closer to where we live but this is worth the trek and made for a nice change.

Having tried their Black Salt branch in Richmond which had great food we decided to try out their new restaurant Kokum in Dulwich and we were not disappointed at all. All the recommendated dishes by Simran and Monica were amazing and on point 👌🥰. Highly recommend this to all who love to try different Indian food. Their food and service is the best.

First time visiting this new restaurant, set in a leafy part of Dulwich a short walk from the East Dulwich station. Very impressively designed restaurant, industrial modern feel. Spacious with high ceilings and a long attractive bar. The food is amazing and very different from standard Indian restaurants, more along the lines of Dishoom (and you can book at table in advance here). The menu is not too long and complicated. I had the best biryani ever, it was very authentic and came with the traditional pastry lid. It's the first time I have ever been served biryani like this and I eat a lot of it! Also delicious was the Roast Cauliflower starter. We went on a Saturday evening and it was buzzing and full of atmosphere. Definitely will be coming back. The only negative for us was that we sat near to door and there was a cold draught whenever people forgot to close it.

First time of visiting but we will be back. Food is very high quality and very different from the ‘typical’ Indian restaurants. We stuck mainly to small plates of veggie options and highlights were the cauliflower and butternut squash with chick peas. Wine reasonable priced for a quality restaurant

Food: Outstanding. One of the best Indian restaurants we've been to in London in the 7 years we've lived here. Been twice now. Service: We were told to sit sat next to the entrance which blew a cold draft every time someone came in and forgot to close the door. The service was quick (positive and negative) but they offered us the bill after 1hr, so felt rushed. The staff are clearly junior and inexperienced. We would 100% come again if service improved.

Incredible Indian food that competes with the very best in London. My family our somewhat curry fanatics and everyone left full of praise. We had it all, small plates, tandoor, sides and mains and will 100% be coming back. Service also great and decent value given the quality.

We had a lovely meal at this great restaurant, situated in a gorgeous room, and highly recommend it. It seems that the popularity of Dishoom has spawned a new and welcome breed of Indian restaurants that break away from the old trad Bengal curry houses and offer the gorgeous starters and tiffins of Mumbai, which are a treat in themselves. The samosa chat and the delicious fish in batter were augmented by a tasty pani puri (a little lacking in hing for that necessary sulfur kick). The starters were the stars of the show. Everything was tasty and beautifully presented but we do have 1 caveat. There is a surprising lack of vegetarian mains which means I won't be going back as often as I'd like. My husband loved his food but suggested that a weekly special would intrigue him to go back more frequently. There are 3 mains for vegetarians, one is mushrooms, which sadly, I can't eat, so a choice of 2 (similarly spiced)means that I'm unlikely to go back as often as I would hope to. I'm actually just writing this review in the hope that they'll read it and add some more veg choice/specials to the menu. Maybe a spicier veg dish that differs from the makani of 2 of their offerings😊

Disappointing as food arrived cold. When feedback was given received no response. Would have appreciated an apology and that it won’t happen again. This way not rushing back.

Nice food, but very much let down by the atmosphere. It's very loud with tables close together so you can't really hear conversation. No thought has been given to noise softening which as a hard of hearing person is difficult (worth noting my partner struggled just as much and he hears perfectly fine). Service was very odd. We were told we had the table for an hour when we were seated but then it took ages to be able to order a drink. We then felt we had to rush through our meal. When you pay £75 for two people (one drink and we shared a main) you at least expect to have the time to be able to enjoy your experience. The food was very good hence three stars so it's a shame it's let down by other things. We'll stick to the trusted Babur...

Had a super mid week meal here and it was busy. Food choices are excellent, it is a short menu but everything we had was perfect. Top picks for this visit were the lamb biryani and the roast cauliflower. Drinks service was slow compared to the food service but my margarita, when it did arrive was delicious. We live locally so will definitely be back to try more of the menu!

First time we have tried Kokum as Dulwich has been crying out for a good Indian restaurant after the closure of the excellent Tandoori Nights. The menu is varied and the dishes are different to your standard Indian restaurant. Staff were attentive and the service was good. Its not cheap but what good restaurant is these days? Yes you can pay £30 per head at other Indian restaurants in Dulwich for standard fayre where it might cost you £40-50 at Kokum but the food is in a different league. Its not easy for local restaurants to survive in the current climate so I hope Kokum is supported by the local community and it manages to survive and goes from strength to strength.

I have eaten more Indian food than any other cuisine. I’ve eaten in Michelin Star Indian restaurants, street food in Delhi & Hyderabad, lots of good home cooking and probably about a thousand UK high street establishments (of greatly varying quality) This is the best Indian food I have EVER eaten. Amazing flavours, innovative & exciting dishes, authentic but still recognising that its in South London. Their menu is a combination of small plates, starters and mains – mixing and matching is fine and we did exactly that. Incredible flavours (some of which I’ve not tasted outside India) , beautiful presentation (without being too “chefy”) . You could go here on a first date, s special celebration or you could go here with friends after an evening in the pub – the food just works The waiting staff were attentive, friendly and made good recommendations. The food arrived really quickly ,which was surprising based on the quality of the presentation) - however, they did ask us if we’d prefer to slow it down (we didn’t!) The room itself is a lovely big space (I’d eaten there when it was previously “the Green”) – it has a relaxed yet stylish feel. Just incredible. There is one downside – the acoustics of the room are awful. The restaurant was pretty busy when we went and we were literally struggling to hear each other. Get that fixed and this restaurant is 10/10!. Cant wait to go back

We always walk past this place and always empty or at least ever time we passed it. That was the main reason we didn’t try it being a chef myself. Then we decided to order a delivery. The price was responsible until you see what you get for your money. The taste is bland on all the items we ordered! Being local myself I did give them the benefit of the doubt but they proved why they are so quiet. Few yards away there are two Indian restaurant both are not excellent far from but much better than this place. Amazed how it’s still open. And the five star ratings? Did you have proper Indian foods?
