The best restaurants serving Indian food in England

Always an unbelievable and really enjoyable meal, I’ve never had a curry as good anywhere else. Everything is just top tier and the flavour of the food is incredible. We moved away from the area last year but still travel from Congleton because it’s honestly that good. The food is delicious, the service is just top quality and so attentive. All the staff are so friendly and welcoming and it’s always guaranteed to be a great meal out. The range of options on the menu is just brilliant. The restaurant is super clean, well looked after and looks very modern. Once you go to Mahal, you won’t go anywhere else. Mega.

We’ve been coming to this restaurant for years, and the food and service have always been excellent. However, the prices have become quite steep compared to similar restaurants in the local area. They also have a branch in Canary Wharf, and it seems they charge the same prices at both locations. Unfortunately, London pricing in Loughton doesn’t quite work—it feels out of step with the local market. While we still enjoy dining here, we no longer come in large groups as we used to. We hope the management takes a closer look at this pricing discrepancy.

Regularmente ofrecen descuentos con la aplicación CityMunch, por lo que si está dispuesto a almorzar un poco más tarde de lo normal, puede obtener hasta un 40% de descuento, lo que lo hace extremadamente asequible. WE went last night as it was my birthday as i am Disabled my wife went to the bar and ordered my drink and her drink we sat down everyone was waiting for their drinks it took over 1 hour for the waiter to take everyone else drink order then it took a further 45 mins before he took everyone's food order it was a nice meal but took to long only 6 of us went and it was has half full this had been pr booked

Not been for a while, had my usual chicken chilli masala, top draw, by far and away the best Indian food in Tonbridge, will definitely be back soon

We ordered 2 chicken dishes and 1 side with paneer cheese ‘Mottor Ponir’ a rice and 2 naan breads 1 of the two chicken dishes came with what seemed and tasted like a strong cheddar cheese grated and melted over the top in a thick layer The second was tasty but the chicken very try and no texture to the sauce at all The side dish was also covered in a thick layer of the same cheese with what I assume were chickpeas in a thin curry sauce and no paneer cheese at all The rice was okay as was the naan Overall, majority was inedible. This almost seemed like a joke. In the car home the overwhelming smell of cheese and curry was odd. However, after tasting it, even more strange. I’d like to assume this was a one of but I wouldn’t risk wasting your money here unless you have a love of mature cheddar on your tikka masala

Excellent food, served quickly, nice ambience and fantastic service. Will return! All of as expected, served the children well, never drinking again!! 🤣🤣

Delicious takeaway - from the curry through to the poppodoms - all tasted so fresh!! I changed to Sundarbans after my local curry house closed and reading reviews I’m pleased I did! Lovely delivery man too! No pictures - as I ate it all 😊

The food was amazing and the portions quite big. There are plenty of options to choose from. The options were without exeptions vegetarian. The food arrived quickly and the staff was friendly.

A lucky find whilst visiting the neighbouring (linked) pub. Fantastic food, this was the best Indian food we've had in a long time. Beautifully presented and perfectly flavoured and spiced. Would definitely recommend The Indian Lodge and would love to return.

Relieved to find a takeaway that tasted like a restaurant and not a horrible trendy fusion whatever restaurant but a family run reliable, years old favourite restaurant. The food was great, the meal for 4 feeding 4 adults plus one usually fussy eating child. Spicy, fresh, hot food and welcoming service too. Definitely using this place again, looking forward to it.

Worst food experience. I would never recommend them to anyone. The food was not prepared well , naans were not clean have some clay on them. Not worthy to spend money.

Firstly this was my first time and last time eating here. The lady didn't know english the tall man was smoking in the restaurant while we ate. I asked for a tali menu I expected a plate with roti and little curry's separately on plate but she mixed with rice. I asked for mild and it was spicey. She didn't greet us coming or going has to ask her few times for stuff never again disgusting spicey and dirty service.

The food and service were very good. The curries were fresh, subtly spiced and well presented. Good naans too! A very reasonable £72 for 4, which included 2 large Kingfishers.

I was a regular at The Day of the Raj for Over 25 Years and I'm sad to see it gone. It has been replaced with another Restaurant now but that does not serve Indian food.
