The food is tasty . I had southern railway lamp and Malabar paratha . The restaurant is pretty good size . But the issue is it is overly priced and not justifiable to customers. Malabar Paratha possibly worth £2.00 Southern railway lamp possibly worth £9.00 ( there was 5 small pieces of lamp and two baby potatoes) I would pay £11.00 and I can go and eat everyday . But they charge £3.50 for a paratha and £16.75 for southern railway lamp + 12.5% service change . I ate 2 paratha and southern railway lamp cost me £26.72. No wonder there was no other customers when been there. Just empty tables .

There are few occasions when I am extremely enthusiastic about a meal but tonight was one of those moments. Scouring the internet for a local place a to eat, I came across Manjal where the menu looked interesting. The location is somewhat unusual, off the beaten track, but really worth the trip. On entering what struck me was that all the other diners were Indian, always a good sign. The waiters were courteous and the service just excellent. The menu indeed had many traditional dishes but also some more unusual ones. I ordered a masala dosa followed by the dal makhani with a chapati. The dosa was light and perfectly cooked, generously filled with spicy potatoes. This was accompanied by a delicious vegetable sambar and two relishes. The rich and creamy dal makhani was to die for it was so good. All is all a fantastic meal. Highly recommended.

I ordered a bhel puri chaat as part of a takeaway menu and it tasted stale. When I called to complain he said it goes less crispy after delivery. We don’t live far from the restaurant. I know what bhel should taste like and when the ingredients are fresh. This was not that. Won’t be ordering again.

During the earlier months of 2022 I visited here 4 times and always thoroughly enjoyed the South Indian food. My 5th visit in September was an unbelievable experience. Having booked through 'Fork' a week earlier my party of six was totally amazed and bewildered on arrival at the venue to find it closed. We phoned to the premises and told that it was closed and nobody will be allowed inside today. No apology just an ignorant grunt or two and the phone put down. I asked to speak to the manager and learned "no manager,no manager" This was meant to be a birthday celebration but we were left stranded and will NEVER return to this establishment. we heard of good review about this restaurant so we gave it a go. It was difficult to locate it as restaurant, finally found it and building looks run down place so we were not impressed. Upon arrival, there were no customers so we had a table then waited to be served, service was so slow as there were only two waiters and they didn’t take much notice of us even though no one else was there. After a while, ordered starter and their portion was very small for the price. we ordered fish curry for main, there were tiny fish in the curry and that was worst curry we ever had with such ripping off price. We ended up paying more than 100£ for 2adults and 2 little children. It was waste of journey and money. never again.

Service is cr*p. Resturant staff do not respect customers. This is way below standards. . I don’t think I have to use 100 characters to describe how crap their attitude is. You can contact me if you need to know details.

We went to Manjal restaurant for my husband’s birthday.The food was amazing especially the lamb chops and Brel puri.The staffs are very friendly.

The food was delicious and the service was great. Menu was extensive. Prices were reasonable. Well worth dining here.

This was our second visit to Manjal. On both occasions we have had great food and exceptional service. Lots of food on the menu that you won’t find anywhere else in Loughton. We went on Mother’s Day and the place was packed with lots of families enjoying a leisurely lunch and plate after plate of super tasty food appearing from the kitchen. Portions are generous and they are happy for you to take away the leftovers. We also went on a Monday evening and although it was quiet the food was just as good.

Excellent food and service! Took guests who tried this restaurant for the first time today, and they thoroughly enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great Indian/Sri Lankan place to eat. Our thanks to Anoop (manager) and his staff, for the wonderful customer service - making this a very pleasant dining experience for us.

We came here on Mother’s Day for the first time and had the most amazing experience I’m so glad we found a really good Indian in loughton everything was great the food tasted good the portion size was great and the service was excellent our waiter was Anoop who did everything to make sure we had the best experience Will definitely be retuning :)
