Lovely vibe and cool decor. One staff member gave us a friendly welcome. The food was also very nice x However, the service was chronically slow. We arrived at 10:35 on a Sunday morning for breakfast. It wasn’t empty, but certainly not busy - maybe around ten other people who all seem to have ordered. Despite the fact it wasn’t that busy, the three of us all received our food at significant time intervals. One of the staff who was bringing out the food, didn’t seem to know or care who the food she was carrying was for. We waited over 30 minutes from ordering before we received our food. It’s such a shame, as everything is here to make this a great place to revisit, but I won’t and I visit the area regularly for football matches.

Had a great tandoori meal from this takeaway. All freshly cooked and the keema nan was excellent great service, and as I had got the time wrong for collecting and had missed my bus back into town the owner kindly took me back to town at no cost how great was that!! Thanks for that and see you soon 👍

We have been using this takeaway since early 80 s tried other Indian takeaways sorry no a patch on this takeaway we've lost the best Chinese takeaway in Gloucester I really hope we don't lose this takeaway cos I think if we do I'm maybe going to have to stop having takeaways cos nothing compares to city Indian and parkend Chinese

Guess it was a victim of the pandemic, but in any case Cafe Le Raj is permanently closed. Plenty more Injuns in Upminster but this was definitely one of ,if not the, favourite.

We have just been. Friendly service and the food was very good. We had the chicken Thali and had one between two which was just right for a light lunch. The food tasted fresh and well presented. We will definitely go back and try out some other dishes as the menu is very varied and the price was reasonable.

Wow. Booked for the Sunday buffet and was concerned that as a veggie I would probably just get a veg curry and some rice. Wow was I wrong. The Sunday buffet is not a buffet it's a banquet. I expected warming trays of various food that everyone dipped thier spoons into and piled their plates high. Wrong. There's a special menu of about 55 different dishes to choose from all included in the price. The portions are small but plenty and you can keep ordering until you are full. Plus there were some fantastic choices for vegetarians including lots of paneer which is my absolute favorite. So impressed. Every dish we ordered was exqusite. Freshly cooked and delicious. You bring your own alcohol which makes it affordable for a night out if you are on a budget. Soft drinks, puddings and poppadoms not included. That was the only negative. Poppadoms not included?? Very odd. Especially as we were encouraged to order them to start with. Er no. I am not going to fill up on poppadoms that are not included in the price, when I am doing the all inc buffet?? The service was slow but attentive and to be expected when everything is cooked freshly. Fabulous evening. Great value. Thank you!

We were staying in Newport for the evening and decided to try out a few of the local pubs. The Shakespeare was empty when we arrived and ordered 2 drinks. The barman asked if we had booked and we said no, we were after drinks only. My wife went to sit at one of the tables that didn't have a reserved sign on it whereupon a young lady raced across and put a reserved sign on that table as well. My wife then asked where we could sit and the lady said we could drink by the bar. The barman said we could use the table near to the emergency exit when the lady then piped up and said we could only sit there for 40 minutes. We drank our drinks and went next door to the Pheasant where a Guinness and IPA were £4 cheaper and the welcome much more friendly. Just out of interest, when we left the Pheasant I walked back to the Shakespeare to look through the window - still half empty and the table we were told we had to vacate in 40 mins was still unoccupied a full hour and half later. I can't comment on the food but if you're looking for a drink don't bother here - you are treated as an inconvenience even when there are more staff than customers!

The worst restaurant Iv ever been to everyone who came in after our table was served with drinks and there food and left we got here at 6pm still no food at 8:15 pm got to the point where we left paid for our drink as no restaurant should take over 2hours to bring starters out, the service so bad one of the staff member argue with the lady at the table, everyone of the men working there was rude and no manners, the nice part about it was getting in my car and leaving
