We went here as we had Tesco vouchers which I think a lot of people had and this may explain the prices for the food you get. You had to pick off the a la carte menu, I had Beef Bourguignon for £18.35 which contained two pieces of beef and a large amount of beefy mushrooms on a bed of mash. It looked very meaty but only two pieces. The King Prawn starter was nice at nearly ten pounds. There was quite a wait to be served as there seemed to be a changeover from the breakfast to the lunch sitting and someone from the kitchen staff ended up running out with the starters. If I did not have the Tesco vouchers I would not have been very happy at the prices charged, but the restraunt is still getting those full prices for the vouchers used I presume. The thing is you would never visit again based on the price for the mushroom Bourguignon and also the Cesar salad which was about £14 and you had to pay extra for chicken.

Evening meal was nice , albeit very confusing as to whether this is tapas or normal menu. All dishes came together and were not really shareable so concluded it was not tapas. Bill for 6 people over £200 with a good tip . Ok so far Next morning my wife and I went for breakfast 6 items for £6 seemed a good deal but we did not want black pudding and tomato and asked if we could have beans instead Was told no Then noticed printed on the menu it also said no swaps When asked why I was told they had to safeguard the kitchen. Never heard the like We were the only customers in the whole restaurant. There is no valid reason as you could pay £2.50 extra for a spoonful of beans but no swapping The chap serving was the same one that served us the night before but no recognition that we were returning customers. He is in the wrong job for sure as too miserable I am writing this review in the pub a few doors down where just had a breakfast and unlimited coffee for £4.70 so don’t put up with bad customer service at 54

Every visit to Long Bar feels like stepping into my own living room. The warmth of the staff, their personal touch, and the way they know us by name create such a welcoming atmosphere. It’s rare to find a place that makes you feel so at home. Now, let’s talk about the food—because Chef Dave is truly outstanding. I don’t usually do “best,” but Dave? He cooks a Sunday roast that is nothing short of exceptional. And it’s not just the roast—every dish I’ve had here has been fantastic. You can tell there’s real passion behind every plate. I come here regularly, whether it’s for a meal, a drink with friends, or—let’s be honest—sometimes more than one drink! It’s always a great experience. This is the first time I’ve taken the time to write a review, not because I didn’t want to, but because I never felt the need—Long Bar speaks for itself. But I do think it’s important to acknowledge the people who put passion into what they do, and Chef Dave and the whole team here deserve all the recognition. As a proud Bramhall local and a small business owner myself, I believe in supporting our village’s businesses. Places like Long Bar make all the difference in creating a welcoming community. If you haven’t been yet, you absolutely should. Highly recommended!

We visited here back in March as we'd been drinking at the Picturedrome. Last minute decision as the weather was poor, but what a pleasant surprise. Amazingly, it being a Saturday evening, there was just one other couple dining. I am absolutely delighted to see the reviews on here because they are so well deserved. All I remember was that the food was delicious and the chef came out between courses to deliver some tasty nibbles. He described his creation with a real passion. I have the bill and we had the onion bhajis and then the Saag and confit de poulet for mains. A nice bottle of Shiraz was £25. This review has reminded me I need to make a reservation sooner rather than later.

We arrived at 10am to find it wasn’t open but came back 20 minutes later and it was open, we were looking forward to the wonderful croissants that we had before, but it wasn’t meant to be. We asked for two croissants each and a coffee but unfortunately we weren’t allowed two each, Sorry but I didn’t know you had to pre-order if you needed more than one each! We live aboard and have ordered each time we have been back, but have taken away our order but had have had lunch before we left we have always been pleased with the food, hence why we try to always come back and support, but due to how we were made to feel today we won’t be back. Please book beforehand otherwise you could be disappointed.

I ordered the dinner for both me and my girlfriend. The duck breast was acceptable but the sirloin steak failed to meet my expectation. I had to extract veins, was hard and definitely considering the price it was not first rate. Frites were ok, nicely prepared but regard to wedges it was different story. Red cabbage was cut on big pieces, was without taste like reheated several times. Definitely disappointing

Popped by for a pizza for dinner. Lad behind the counter was brilliant, even let me borrow a phone charger for a bit. Really great service. Ordered the veggie pizza, it was ok at best. A bit too greasy for my liking, but had a good quantity of olives as toppings. A bit more finesse would go a long way!

We treated ourselves to the Valentines Tasting Menu on Friday 14th . From the moment you enter the Arkle you know you are going to have a most memorable experience . It is a young team of staff but they have been trained to deliver first class service but to bring their own take on things ie their individual personalities shine through . Each member from the person who brings the bread to the explanation of the dishes all do it with a smile and professional attitude. Thank you to all of you as you work very well together . The food as always was excellent from the presentation to the taste . Classy and delicious . Loved the touch of not revealing the special menu online as all was very intriguing . Wine pairing as always , excellent . We hope you get Michelin Star this year as it’s deserved ! Thank you to everyone and see you soon . The Gilchrists
