Don't be fooled by the website, which dates from nearly 2 years ago before the place was relocated to tiny and dowdy premises round the corner. Friends of ours recommended it when it was on Lord Street - now it isn't, and frankly is overpriced (being the same price as the Randolph in Oxford for afternoon tea) with indifferent food and drink. You can get a much better afternoon tea experience for half the price at any half decent garden centre (Dobbies in Southport for example). Don't know what has changed, but really, really, don't go there! The only reason we went was because we had been sent a gift voucher which had to be spent there - otherwise we would have walked straight on by

An excellent afternoon tea, all freshly made and showing the touch of a fabulous pastry chef. Sandwiches were very high quality followed by cakes of the highest standard. The ambience is very pleasant but the eating area very small. A little too intimate with your fellow diners I would say. Thats the only reason it drops a star - the afternoon tea was really top notch.

We visited a few months ago and really enjoyed the afternoon tea in the Lord Street location. When we booked this time, the location has moved to a back street behind Lord Street. The location now is not appealing and the seating area very small, with just 3 small tables, and cramped (it’s not the one in the business photograph). Although the tea was still very nice, we were disappointed with the location and ambience especially for the price of the afternoon tea. Sadly, it will probably be our last visit.

Spotted small size Christmas puds on the counter and we tried one on Christmas Day. We were not disappointed and all found it tasty, fruity and moist and will buy another next year! Highly recommended! And no nuts it seemed. No cooking instructions but we put cling film as lid and pierced it and cooked in microwave for 2mins 30secs and it came out beautifully. Now we better get go and get ready for the Queen’s Speech!

So, I have a small....wait....large obsession with tearooms/ afternoon teas and Lillibets is my idea of absolute heaven. A small, yet perfect cake lovers dream on Lord Street. Everything, literally, everything is handmade, even the jam. The service is welcoming, knowledgable and professional. The tea is the kind of tea that brings you back to life and the cakes like small pieces of fine art ! I cannot wait to return and will be dreaming of this little cake wonderland in my sleep until our next visit. Thanks Lillibet and team !

Have had coffee here several times which is very good indeed. It’s lovely to have a coffee shop offering something a little bit different. My main complaint is the lack of a loo!! Granted they point you in the direction of one just outside and up a couple of flights of stairs.....however this is just not accessible enough for many of the potential clientele!

I have reviewed this quaint little cafe before when I had enjoyed my visit. Unfortunately on the last visit in early October it was rather disappointing. There are 5 of us friends who meet together and had previously been here. This time, as before, when booking my friend had stipulated that one diner was vegetarian and for herself liked no butter or added mayonnaise/ cranberry added to her sandwiches. In past visits the waitress explains where the veggie sandwiches are. She did so on this occasion but hadn’t omitted butter etc to my friends. When this was pointed out ( and my friend had rang a day or so earlier to emphasise this request) it was greeted with not an apology but a grumpy acceptance. The waitress literally plonked a plate down with only one sandwich and stomped off. So. My friend had only one of her sandwiches grudgingly replaced. The rest of the afternoon tea was lovely but when we came to pay we all chipped in our amounts to find that they had put the standard price up. Not a great problem but would have been nice to be informed. £22.95 each is a lot to pay so I would have expected more courteous service. We are all mature ladies and are courteous and polite ourselves. Unfortunately due to the attitude in Lilibets we won’t be returning but taking our custom elsewhere.

We came across this unique little tea shop by chance and felt like it was a `little piece of French chic' on Southport's high street. What a treat! Fine china and cakes and pastries that were exceptional, both to look at and in taste! The service was `a cut above the rest' too, (excels Betty's in Harrogate!) we felt so pampered! I wish I lived nearer Southport. For just a little extra, this wonderful tea shop offers a unique experience that I look forward to returning to next year when I visit Southport!! Lilibet and your associate (sorry I can't remember your name), I wish you all the best with your business. You have thought `out of the box' with this little gem! What visionaries you are! I am not in the habit of writing reviews about tearooms but in this case I feel I need to make an exception. My wife and I stopped here just over a week ago on a nice sunny day and sat down at a table outside. We only wanted a cup of tea so I went indoors and asked the young waitress for a pot of tea for two and told her we were seated outside.I was a little taken aback when she told me I would have to pay first because we were seated outside and shocked when she told me the cost was £5.10.Because my wife had already sat down at a table I didn't want to make a fuss so I just paid the money but seriously no matter how you dress it up at the end of the day, it is just two tea bags being served in a fancy china tea service. From previous reviews I have read they possibly do serve very nice cakes but come on, the very most that you would expect to pay for a pot of tea for two should be somewhere between £3.00 - £4.00.

Went there for my wife's birthday, with mum-in-law, and had afternoon tea. Every positive review about Lilibets is accurate - attractive and clean premises, polite and efficient staff who are not over-attentive and excellent food. The French tea was weaker than we're used to, but that wasn't a problem. The sandwiches were varied, fresh and delicious; the scones were light and tasty; and the cakes were fresh and really special. Walking along one of Southport's shopping streets when we came across this little gem! Just a small tea shop with about 8 tables with a few more outside. The decor is lovely - my husband said it was very feminine but nothing wrong with that! Rose wallpaper, lots of light wood, sparkling lights and pretty crockery. Not a huge menu, quite a few tea choices, plenty of coffees and some light bites - a selection of sandwiches, toasted tea cakes and some fabulous, made on the premises, patisserie. We sampled sandwiches and then couldn't resist a meringue aux fruits and a strawberry bavarois. They were light and dainty and so delicious! The staff were all lovely - smiley, chatty and engaging. They were very well presented too. Can you tell we enjoyed it?

I purchase a lot of Gift Vouchers via phone for presents as am not able to get out easily. Recently purchased one for £50 from Lilibets and was surprised later to receive a phone call asking for £l.95 postage. I have never paid postage for a voucher before. However, it duly came by post. It contained a gift card no envelope and was posted in an envelope with a first class stamp. How does that justify £l.95 postage. I would have got the same card - no envelope, if I had collected it from the Shop and Staff would have had to serve me in the shop so no additional costs there. Needless to say they are off my list for Gift Vouchers - not a good service at all.

My wife and I are very appreciative of quality and consistency. When these two elements are combined so skilfully as one may encounter at Lilibets, the result is sublime. Put simply, we in Southport are extremely fortunate to have one of the very finest tearooms in the UK in the wonderful Lilibets. Run by the charming and stylish Elizabeth Connard, Lilibets consistently offer superbly authentic French patisserie, deliciously generous sandwiches, gorgeous home-made soups and sublime entremets of a dazzling variety of shapes and flavours. Lilibets also offer very high quality coffee and excellent Kusmi teas. In my view, Lilibets easily stands as one of the very finest tearooms in the country, being far superior in terms of quality and service to rivals such as Bettys of York and Harrogate. As regards Southport, there is simply no other establishment in the same stratosphere. Lilibets is simply peerless in the North-West. Why is the food so good? Probably because Elizabeth herself is Cordon Bleu-trained, and she appears to 'live and breathe' her business. The service at Lilibets is equally superb, and the waitresses have impeccable good manners. To reiterate, consistency is everything to me, and the service is consistently as excellent as the food. I heartily recommend Lilibets to everyone. Go ahead, sample the very best!

Visited with my Mum and booked for 'Afternoon tea', which we arranged for lunchtime, as we had been told it was quite filling. We were seated at the table in the window, which was lovely, as we could watch the people passing by, in the sunshine. The table was laid with beautiful china and we had the choice of tea or coffee to accompany or food. We chose a pot of tea, which came in the matching china tea pot with milk jug. The waitress explained that it was a french blend of tea, which appears weak when poured, but it is not weak to taste, it was very pleasant. Our Afternoon tea was presented to us by a lovely lady and she proceeded to tell us what all of the items were. We had small smoked salmon rolls, turkey sandwiches and ham sandwiches, both cut into fingers. We were then treated to little vanilla mousses with raspberry, small rich chocolate squares, chocolate & lemon macarons, meringues with grapes, blueberries, blackberries & cream. The top layer of our stand was a chocolate cupcake and a honey cupcake, both were amazing and scones with clotted cream & jam. We also asked for another pot of tea. This is a beautiful little place, so clean & pretty. The staff are very attentive, but most of all the food was absolutely delightful. You need to book if we want Afternoon tea, and I can definitely say, we will be visiting there again.

5 of our friends went along to Lillibets whilst on a specific event, with the option of others to meet them. They sat for an hour before eventually getting any of their order. 5 more of us joined them - we were seated outside, so couldn't have proper afternoon tea, understandably but on making our choices were informed that there was only 1 cheese & tomato sandwich left, no scones, no skinny milk for someone watching their cholesterol, beautiful teapots were served with silk teabags which don't infuse so remained like cat pee despite what we did - had to go and get more teabags for the pots, by which time the tea was cold! Beautiful napkins and vintage dressed staff but i feel they've missed a trick here - don't serve outside at all then clients aren't split with poor service; get the tea-making good before all the fancy accessories - it was only 2pm and after all supposed to be a tea shop. Teapots were each £2.95 and the cheese sandwich £7!! Overall the group waited 1.5hrs to get all orders of simple teackes, cakes & sandwich to the table.

How long does it take to put cakes on plates!!! Other customers who had arrived after us and got their food served before us. I asked the owner to cancel our cakes as we had finished our drinks. She did not even apologise or try to explain the reason for the delay. just asked for my bank card refunded payment for cakes, she couldn't have cared less! Disgusted at the way we were treated, never had such bad customer service before........ Regular visitors to Southport but will not be visiting this coffee shop!! THIS WAS OUR FIRST AND LAST TRIP TO THIS COFFEE SHOP.

We were looking for somewhere to have a hot drink and a cake of some description and stumbled upon Lilibets. What a gem of a place ! The waitress was extremely knowledgeable about the various cakes on display and her knowledge of the speciality teas was equally as good - and as I used to work in the tea business I know what she was saying was absolutely correct and not just a sales pitch. Our waitress was also training another young girl, which demonstrates how Lilibets value proper Customer Service. We had booked an evening dinner or else we'd have tucked into Afternoon Tea, which looked absolutely scrummy. We lived in Southport until moving away in 2003 and don't remember seeing Lilibets before, so either it's relatively new, or we've walked along Lord Street with our eyes closed. We'll be back for sure !

It was my daughters birthday yesterday and we went over to Southport, we walked past Lilibets and it looked so nice we decided to go in. They serve sandwiches and so many cakes. We weren't disappointed, we had a Pot of tea and my daughter had an individual cheese cake and I had a heart shaped shortbread biscuit filled with vanilla pod cream and raspberries, absolutely gorgeous. The waitress was lovely and very helpful. Can't wait to go back and next time take my mum and have a sandwich as well as another amazing cake !

Took my mum to southport for tea and cake and had seen lilibets on trip advisor. The place is decorated beautifully and the staff are so friendly. The cakes looked amazing and were all made on the premises. They tasted as good as they looked and the tea and coffee was also lovely. The food was presented beautifully, on vintage plates and tea cup. Will definitely be visiting again.

Love cake and the display drew us in and we were not disappointed.Firstly the girls how good is it to get served from young girls who look good ( know some will think that's un P.C. but they do), dress immaculately and have excellent customer service.Had a sandwich first and couldn't fault fresh and tasty, says it all. Then the cakes, loved then Yes i did sample my other half's as well. So nice is the basic fair you tend to get in cafes but to experience these takes it to a different level. If you love your cake like we do you cant go wrong giving this place a visit. Will certainly be in next time we are in the area.Loved it.

I was so excited to go here as I have heard so many good things. I went just for a coffee and cake. The cake looked lovely but to be honest was just too sickly and too much cream and it was nearly £8 for a coffee and cake! I think they look nicer than they taste. Afternoon tea looked nice on other peoples table?

We were so looking forward to attending the masterclass .......it exceeded our expectations! We were warmly greeted and got stuck in straight away. We came away with two lovely desserts, a fruit filled meringue and and a lemon mousse on a biscuit base all made from scratch. We especially loved the tips on how to make these great desserts even better for example using golden icing sugar for a different kind of flavour. Would highly recommend and can't wait to do another! Thanks Lillibet and Charlie for the opportunity!

We found ourselves unexpectedly with an hour to spare in Southport and found Lilibets on Tripadvisor for a cuppa and bite to eat. It was a pleasant hour! The staff we met were charming and although the fare was more expensive than we would normally choose, it wasn't extortionate. We shared some delicious cakes. We can thoroughly recommend the passion fruit meringue tart. The only downside was the access to the bathroom - outside the shop, in another door, up two different sets of stairs, through another door and finally the toilet! The lovely lady who let me into the first door (it was locked) did admit the bathroom situation wasn't ideal. We would certainly go back to Lilibets but for the cake and tea rather than facilities!

A really nice place for a coffee and cake. Beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. Gorgeous cakes and served expertly. The girls are clearly coached on how to serve as they are dressed immaculately, full of knowledge, perfect at serving but a bit more warmth for the children wouldn't go amiss.

I took my mother here for afternoon tea as a treat. However I much prefer simply visiting for a cup of tea or coffee and one of the delicious cakes. I felt the afternoon tea was overpriced and disappointing in comparison. I would not hesitate to recommend the cakes but I would steer clear of the 'afternoon tea' in future.

We travelled to Southport from Southampton at Christmas. There are not many good things to look forward to when travelling up the M6 but this is one. The customer services is great. It is nice to be greeted at the door and shown to a table. The staff are lovely, very friendly and always willing to help. The food quality is excellent. We liked the little touch of a sample chocolate or mini ice cream with the drinks. The cakes are delicious and of the highest standard A lovely place to relax. Will definitely be visiting again on our next trip.

I've been to Lilibets a couple of times now and have always enjoyed the tea and food. The cake is excellent and I have not found anywhere local offering anything better :) The service is generally good, but can be a little slow at times. Nothing to worry about though! I feel like the music doesn't quite fit the cafe. You'd expect something classical or some french chansons, but they usually play Taylor Swift and similar.

We were drawn in by the cakes on display......my daughter owns a cake business so I always have to have a look at other peoples! It was a cold day so we had a hot chocolate, one dark and one light. Not often there is a choice. Mine, the light one reminded me of my childhood oval tine, had a malty taste, delicious. It came with a quirky mini ice cream cornet the on the side and a marshmallow snowman disc on top. We asked to be talked through the patisserie on offer and chose a salted caramel mousse and a triple chocolate. Ok but not outstanding.

Went here on Friday with a girlfriend of mine and oh la laaa it was just divine! The decor and theme is just wonderful. Definitely the best of British! I had the Banoffee and the chocolate chip milkshake, all zero calories of course and absolutely delicious! We had such a good time we spent 2 hours in there without realising they had closed and we were still busy nattering! We were looked after by a lovely lady called Zoe who made us feel very welcome and made excellent recommendations. One thing I particularly enjoyed about this place is that their portions are not massive, they are the perfect size. Next time I am in Southport I will definitely be back!

We stopped for a short break and a coffee whilst walking around southport. What a find. The cafe is spotless and the staff are friendly, welcoming and lovely with the customers. We ordered two coffees which were different from each other. Both where delicious. They came with a mini ice cream cone on the side. A really lovely and unique touch. We hadn't long eaten or we would have loved to try one of the amazing looking cakes. We will definitely have one next time and will return. It beats chain tea and coffee outlets hands down. This is definitely a cafe to stop by and try, we will absolutely be back next time we are in southport.

We visited this coffee shop whilst browsing the shops on Lord Street. First impressions were very girly coffee/tea shop. Floral tea cups, lots of pink and pastel colours. We didn't have anything to eat, just had coffee, which came with an unusual twist of a miniature ice cream on the edge of the cup.

Called in with my wife for a coffee and a hot chocolate and we were unable to resist ordering a couple of cakes from the display. The cakes were both very rich but delicious and our hot drinks were served accompanied by a cute, miniature ice cream cone. A nice unusual and unexpected touch, I thought. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming and the service was attentive, helpful and efficient. The patisserie was clean and bright and the owner's attempt to give it a touch of Paris is to be congratulated. Apparently a recent customer said he thought their hot chocolate was the best in Southport. I wasn't convinced, but I would invite you to call in and do a taste test for yourself.
