Fantastic meal. Everything was perfect. Clearly very high quality ingredients. Tasty. Lovely staff. Amazing decor. The 2 of us shared king prawn starter. Mains were beautiful John Dory fillet and rump steak. Shared creme brulee to finish. Short wait for main course but gave us time to digest and chat. Left with full tummies 😋

Staff needed prompting... Asked for water for the table nearly 2 hours later and never came. Starter sent back because it was cold Main meal after an hour we gave up on that coming so chose to leave Good job Childs food came with starters, booked to go early specifically for child Won't be going again

This is the second review I have done for bistro Pierre unfortunately this time it’s sadly declined last time I gave it all well deserved 5 stars In all honesty it’s obviously struggling and I think it only fair I offer an honest review as it is currently It was nearly empty on the Saturday we waited in a cold restaurant in February for 40 minutes for the food the food was not to the same standard Sorry to say won’t be returning for a while it’s such a shame it really used to be top notch We try to support local businesses but they must support loyal customers as well

Food was very nice, service was good and the atmosphere was charming.

This was booked for a family member's birthday. We all ordered the Soirée Gastronomique 6 courses. There were 5 people, with 5 drinks ordered, 5 places set at the table and 5 people ordered from that menu. We made one change, which was to a veggie option for one course. The problems quickly started to arise. Our first course arrived, and a young blonde gentleman announced that he had 4 *name of appetiser*. To which we replied 'we should have 5'. He snapped back very sharpishly 'well I've only got 4, only 4 have been ordered'. Instead of stepping back and saying sorry there must have been a mistake, he proceeded to plonnk the food down, with no intention of asking us what was ordered or attempt of rectifying the problem. So we had to say very clearly that we needed a 5th, we had all ordered the same set menu, and we would need another. No apology, and the same attitude throughout was received from this gentlemen. 10 minutes later, after 4 of the 5 starters had been finished, we checked in with the same blonde gentlemen to ask where the other would be, as everyone had finished (it was a hot course, so waiting would not have been practical). Again, no apology or customer service skills and he just wafted his hand in our direction and said it takes a few minutes. Eventually, the 5th first course arrived (now 15 minutes after). As the 5th member of our party is finally starting their first course, the next course arrives. The staff even asked the person trying to quickly eat their first course 'who had the veggie option'. Just showing such a basic lack of awareness. When ordering the main course, the waitress asked how we (3 of us ) wanted our steaks cooked. To which we had one medium to well and one rare to medium (I think we said rare and rare to medium, but we wouldn't have minded some deviation). The blonde waiter (there is a common theme) when asked 'which is which steak' snapped back 'they are all the same!'. Ironically, one was medium to welldone, one was definitely medium to rare, and one was closer to rare. So we just all checked and then swapped our plates around. Towards the end of the main course, one member of the party was still eating, but the deserts then suddenly appeared, with the same unfortunate gentlemen shouting across the table, (apparently totally unable to see someone still eating, or the table still full with plates from the main courses), 'who is having cheese and who the other'. Which was shocking given both a cheese and 'other' desert course were included within the 6 courses, and both a part of the set menu. His colleague had the capabilities to realise the situation, and said they would wait, clear the table then bring the correct course. It was truly shocking. Eventually, our deserts appeared after the mains had been finished and the table cleared (the actual desert course, not the cheese course). This waitress had a much better manner, and then asked us if we were ready for the cheese course. To which a 5 second conversation happened of one member of the party saying 'I don't need one thanks' and another member of the party replying 'it is included' and the original member of the party saying 'ok ignore that I'll have it'. The waitress did not have a notepad, ipad or similar, so there is no way that anything was accidentally cancelled. She then left us, with the full impression that we were all having deserts. Low and behold, only 4 cheese courses arrived. With the waitress stating when challenged 'sorry about that, you obviously said no cheese for you, and I had already put it through before you changed your mind'. Unfortunately this was a blatant lie, and clearly there is an integral issue either in their system. We then had to wait 5 minutes for the additional included meal to arrive. During this time, we also ordered one additional glass of wine before the cheese course, which arrived 15 minutes later (which we chased up 3 times). Extremely disappointing, with no attempt at any point from the staff to rectify any issues or check in with us.

Staff totally unaware of what was included in the 30% discount. Incorrect information given to us. Twice waitress came to ask if we wanted dessert, when we'd not even received main course. Even though discount was for drinks, nothing was deducted, when questioned the waiter said "as you've had the 'already discounted' food menu discount on drinks isn't allowed." totally unimpressed with service.

I wanted to give this place another try because last time I was here was a few years ago and i thought it was okay. So I came in feeling optimistic however.. the wait time for the food was 1 hour, there was only 4 people including me, 3 of which that have finished eating. When the waitress brought out the water, the water tasted like chlorine so I just didn’t want to drink it. The food was really tasty and I was very happy after I left after getting my food finally, this wasn’t the end unfortunately, when I got home later that day I started a stomach bug and now I’m in pain. Please be careful with what you order.

The restaurant was virtually empty and very quiet. The waitress asked twice what we wanted to order, even though I told her we had not yet chosen. I asked for a bottle of sparkling water and she said it was 33cl, it was 75cl. We asked if the menu was included in the 30% discount and were told it was. Our starters came quickly and were very nice. After finishing these, nothing happened for a while and then the waitress asked if everything was okay and we said we were waiting for our main courses. A little while later the same waitress asked us if we wanted dessert, we told her we hadn't even had our mains. Eventually she came with our main courses, steak frites. The steak was nicely cooked but the garlic butter had obviously come straight out of the fridge, as it wasn't fully melted and had cooled the steak down. When we came to pay, the 30% discount had not been applied. Also, the mushroom sauce which we were told was a choice for the steak had been charged extra. When we queried the bill we were told that the menu was not included, even though we had previously been told it was. There was no offer of splitting the difference or even knocking the sauce off the bill. All in all, this was a must unsatisfactory experience and we are not likely to visit again in a hurry.

The Good * Friendly Staff * Prompt Service * Nice place to sit * Good View / Location The Bad * Poor Food Quality (breakfast) Orange Juice was undrinkable, tomatoes dry and withered, generally poor quality ingredients. * Too expensive for the poor food quality * Have to pay for on street parking ( but not their fault) Notes to venue * Raise your food quality even if it means raising the price a little. * Huge competition in your local area and you are one of the worse for quality and price.

Many items were not available which was hardly surprising for a New Year’s Day afternoon but James did good best to accommodate us. Excellent food and value for money.

Me and my wife had our evening meal here tonight. The meal was great, cooked perfectly. My wife had the Turkey dinner. She said it was perfect from the roasties straight through to the moist turkey. They even made special gravy as she's allergic to beef. I had the Duck Parmentier every mouthful was delicious. It was a busy night yet everything was served really timely. We've eaten here a few times, and we'll definitely be back. Thanks again

Had food yesterday was seated greatly with smiles on faces food was delicious we had a turkey roast, and it was gorgeous and Devine we also had wine with our meal this is our first time here and we found it great and service was great the gentleman was very attentive asking if everything was okay and checking in on us we will be back as the building is stunning too

Always a good time, normally morning service, coffee cake etc. Today David and Trish always friendly and communicative. Will always recommend Bistrot Pierre.

First time in here and the place is beautiful the roof was my favourite the Xmas tree could do with being in the middle of the window would of been nice to take a photo I had the traditional breakfast served by I great server didn’t catch his name but he was the Assistant manager and he was great smile on his face had a great conversation with us as well as checking up on us our food was spot on as well so great chefs And my wife loved the Avocado on toast Will be back !! Went in for a pastry and a coffee, was warm welcomed into the place, the chap behind the host desk was well mannered and very nice to talk to first time being in and I felt welcomed and the service was great only down side will be the sun hitting right in your eyes the young guy working Matt I think his name was moved me to better seat to have less sun in my eyes and the coffee was hot and delicious pasty was warm and nice nothing to fault besides the sun

OMG it is flipin amazing went here w/ my family and wow the food was delicious daim. We came with friends and the service time was fast for 5 people.

Tried here on Thursday at 8.30pm and advised kitchen has just closed so headed back tonight ( Saturday) as looked great inside. Just in area a few days…. As arrived told to sit anywhere and find our own table which is cool if woman on reception had come off phone. Sat down and there were fries and parts of used napkins under the table. Server then came and first thing he told us ( in nice way) was what they no longer didn’t have on the menu ( which was a little odd!) No enquiry on what we wanted to at least drink to keep us at table…. Happy to pay for an expensive Saturday menu, but not if service within first 60 seconds so poor - rare I give bad review, ( I hope) but service, seriously not great. We left after 5 minutes and went across road to Correo Lounge. Meeted and greeted and table area spotless. Always feel for the owners of these places when staff letting them down so bad - especially on a Saturday night. Great venue and menu looked good - hopefully can sort out service…

Booked last night for my Son’s 18th Birthday, we had the upstairs area which was great. The food was excellent, the staff were brilliant, altogether we had a fabulous night, everything came out on time, no fuss, just lovely food, presented well. David ensured we had a really great night and nothing was too much trouble , thank you to all at Bistrot Pierre Southport.

Super nice and friendly staff. But the dirty cups and teapot really put me off.

After a rocky start, this place proved to be a gem. Lovely food and good service.

Lovely place and staff, but gosh, until they change the chef don't order fish. You could have made a nice sandal out of my sea bass!

The management should assign one person to wait on a table. We had 3 waiters dealing with our table and consequently no one knew what we'd already had, what we were missing etc. The staff were lovely. It was just a bit chaotic. We were there with a young kid and it took over 2 hours. Or maybe they were trying to be authentically French. Food was good as always and I love the decor.

Ate here a few months ago and the service was very slow. Tried again today and it was the same. Food was decent when we got it but it took ages to arrive. Staff didn't come to check if everything was OK. 10% service charge is automatically added to the bill. Not sure we would return.

It was my second visit. My wife and her painting friends go quite regularly. We used to go to Vincent's, but after the last two visits we were very disappointed and stopped going. We really like Bistrot and will be regular customers. Thank you. 5 stars plus.

Brilliant food ,let down by service

Lovely little bistro we went in for drinks which were a little bit pricey compared to other places. But the service was nice and there was a really nice atmosphere.

I had a very bang average experience of this restaurant. I am vegan and the options were very limited. My kids had steak and said it was nice but I was very underwhelmed by the whole experience.

Enjoyed lunch with my husband. We had the £12 lunch specials which were great value and very tasty.

Went with a group for lunch today (Sunday) and was an absolutely superb meal. I had the roasted butternut squash and it was delicious. Thanks to the chef and especially to our lovely smiley ' host / waiter' We WILL be back. X

First time eating here tonight and can't fault the place at all . The food was gorgeous and the staff were amazing 👍🏻 Piper looked after us mostly and was brilliant along with others who were also very professional 🙏🏻 highly recommended and we'll definitely be back 🎉

The Southport branch has been open a while but every time we've passed it's been very busy so we've waited until the fuss of the new eatery to die down. Today it looked quite quiet so we thought we'd give it a go. A very airy restaurant with pleasant, French influenced decor (of course). Clean, tidy and tables set for eating. We waited a while for our food but we weren't in a hurry and assumed, as it was a quiet time of the day, there was probably less kitchen staff. The food looked very appetizing on arrival and the taste was good too. Worth the wait. Wheelchair and pram accessible. Lots of room around the tables with a bathroom downstairs as well as the individual bathrooms upstairs. I don't have any info about the children's menu but later on there were children dining happily. All the staff were friendly and happy to help. Overall a pleasant visit and we would definitely return.

Nothing outstanding, the small Italian over the road was packed, so we tried here, lots of free tables. I now know why. Food was OK but not great. Bought a teaspoon for dessert, when asked for a dessert spoon the reply was " I could go and wash one but it will take 5 minutes " 🙄

Went for an evening meal last Thursday. I ordered calamari which was quite good. My friend ordered sirloin steak medium to well done. I ordered pork medallions. The pork medallions were delicious. The steak was very rare which my friend was unable to cut up so we swapped our meals and so we were both happy. Staff never bothered to see if the food was enjoyable. Ten percent was automatically added to the bill. We have been there before quite a long time ago. I don't think we will be going again.

Dined here Sunday evening. Superb food great atmosphere we really enjoyed it. But best of all the excellent service by Lewis maybe Louis ? An asset to this lovely bistro.

Called in for quick light lunch. I had really delicious hummus with flat bread. Probably the nicest hummus and flat bread ever. My friend had coffee walnut cake which was unfortunately dry. Service was friendly though had to ask for cutlery, milk and sugar for tea then had to go up to service station as still didn’t appear. Pleasant atmosphere.

Was disappointed and surprised this morning. We go very often for breakfast on a Sunday morning . Only was turned away this morning at 10am . Walked in a few tables say 3 were taken. Was 2 of us and when I asked for a table for breakfast. Was abruptly told no sorry we have a party of 20 coming in in 10 mins. Thought he was joking. We could of ordered and chef on with our food in that time. If you can not handle 20 plus people for breakfast. It's a poor display . We went to a smaller independent cafe down lord St. Was a great breakfast and very welcoming.

First visit to Southport for a few years and came across this place. Have to say very welcoming when entering, attentive waiter & food was perfect. The fillet steak was up there in our top 5, fritas was just as I liked, pink ! We will definitely be returning. Thank you for a very enjoyable afternoon.

Always excellent food and service at Bistrot Pierre Southport. Great choice on the menu and wine list, all reasonably priced. Central location in town. Never fails to please. Recommended.

There was a minimum amount of customers yet we waited to be served for 15 minutes but we did not end up being served

Serving staff are great and couldn't fault them at all, all lovely, friendly and attentive. Location is good but prices clearly reflect having to compensate for the expense of the location and shows in the quality of the food. Several visits now and the food is largely bland, low quality and poorly/often over cooked so tends to be rather dry. Trying to make it sound fancier than it is by giving french names does not compensate for the quality

We had a wonderful meal. Service excellent at all times. The menu was varied and suited a range of tastes. The 3 rating was given only due to it not being busy at the time of eating but have eaten there previously and it was an excellent atmosphere.

I wish i went to McDonalds. Worst food i have tried

No toilet rolls in the toilets. No coffee and seating was full of crumbs. Wouldnt go again.

So disappointing, the food was very poor. Beef bourginuon was tasteless with only a few bits of beef. The burger was just ok but the fries were awful. All I can say is lovely wine. Service not great, and then you discover they've banged on a £5 service charge. Will not be returning.

An excellent Sunday roast beef, perfectly cooked, lashings of gravy and nicely cooked vegetables. Great service from Lewis and a good deal via Club Bistrot Pierre. All round, a very good meal.

Lovely place with great staff. Quality of the food let's it down a bit though. I had the steak frites and the piece of meat was so tough. I gave up after a while because my jaw was hurting! My partners chicken was ok but not brilliant. Cote Brasserie is a very similar sort of restaurant chain but their food quality is much higher.

Have enjoyed the two for 12 quid cocktails previously, but have come here twice recently, and while the doors were open we were advised the place was closed. Yesterday we got turned away again and told they finished serving at 9.30, bit odd on a Saturday. Seem to be a bit confused as to whether they are a bar or a resteraunt, but would think with Wetherspoons next door now closed they would make the most of passing trade. Or have clear opening hours.

To start with the positives; the food was delicious and well presented and the young male waiter who served us was polite and helpful, but the customer service was dreadful. We were a large party and had booked our meals in advance, paying a £5 deposit for this privilege. Some of us arrived a little after others and because of this, weren’t offered a drink. We weren’t in fact offered a drink for the whole of the time we were there. There were two small jugs of water between thirteen people and these were quickly consumed. They were not replenished and in the end one of our party got up to fill the jugs herself. We had tickets for a show at The Atkinson, which was due to start at 19.30. We booked the meal for 17.45, which should have given us plenty of time, but in spite of pre ordering our meals and paying a deposit we waited an hour for our food. The attitude of the manager when we complained about this and also pointed out tha we hadn’t been offered a drink , was rude and defensive. We pointed out that we had to leave at 19.10 to be on time for the show and we eventually got our food. However , time was against us. We almost cancelled dessert because it wasn’t forthcoming and we were conscious of the time. When it eventually arrived we had to eat it with forks because the table hadn’t been set for dessert. When finally, spoons were found, some of us had already finished our dessert. We were promised discount on our bill as compensation for the poor service but when the bill came, this had not been put on and we had to ask for it again. Sadly, in spite of the food being delicious, we will not be eating in this restaurant again.

Been a few times and enjoyed it. Last night however I have never experienced service like it. A table of 13, pre seeing a show, so early sitting, restaurant was very quiet. We had preordered our food and gave ourselves 1hr 30mins to eat two courses. On arrival the table was not set up for that amount so we pushed tables together. We were not approached for drinks. After asking 2 times for drinks to be ordered, we never got that service. Our request was ignored. 50mins after arrival, and speaking to the manager, asking 3 times for our food it arrived. The food was good. Thank you chef. We then asked for our desert because we had 10mins left to get to the show. The pudding arrived but no plates had been collected from the main course. We stacked up all our plates, put them at the end of the table to make room. Asking for the main plates to be taken away, we were again ignored. Waiting to eat our pudding we realised we had no spoons. Asking for spoons we were told 'yes, in a minute'. We ended up looking for spoons but had to ask for more as they had run out. We felt the service was the worst experience we have ever had. We were met by no apology, compensation of maybe waiving the service bill. We did get an excuse of restaurant is a big restaurant. The manager started crying when we asked for the service charge to be deducted. We did not expect the thinking a ssional customer/manager conversation was taking place. We certainly don't want anyone crying, so decided to leave. Equally do we expect that behaviour, ppor service and attitude. We turned around as we left to see the staff, two males and the manager laughing at us. Customer service at its worse unfortunately. Shame because the chef was excellent and manager /staff let him down. On reflection, all the staff seemed very untrained. Higher managerd need to look at this. Your setting is nice, food good but service will stop people visiting.

2nd time I've written a review on this place and another one that not good. Entered the restaurant six of us only a third full at 2 o'clock on Sunday looking forward to a Sunday roast and yet again couldn't have one. Waitress not even making eye contact with me wobbling her head side to side just saying there be a long wait . Think staff need addressing as last time we went on a Sunday told us they didn't have this didn't have that and told us we needed to be a member to get the three course Sunday offer . A little frustrating after looking at places that could accommodate us due to kids having food allergies. Last time I put a review was replied to send private email and they would deal with it . Email sent and didn't get a reply. Service is atrocious

The service is really poor in here. It makes the meal really unpleasant despite the good food. I eat out a lot, but I boycotted this place due to rude staff and lack of training. For example, if someone orders wine the waiter should open the bottle and let the customer taste it before walking away. I have also ordered wine for my main only to get it half way through the course. And on other occasions, I have been left standing at the entrance for too long. (The accumulation of multiple bad outings here has led to this review.) I think this place would be really good if it could sort the staff out. Staff = waiters. Part of the main reason for eating out is to be waited on. I think the staff (I cant call them waiters) look down their noses at their own job, and try to avoid doing it. Management should address this.
