Bistrot Pierre in Sefton

To start with the positives; the food was delicious and well presented and the young male waiter who served us was polite and helpful, but the customer service was dreadful. We were a large party and had booked our meals in advance, paying a £5 deposit for this privilege. Some of us arrived a little after others and because of this, weren’t offered a drink. We weren’t in fact offered a drink for the whole of the time we were there. There were two small jugs of water between thirteen people and these were quickly consumed. They were not replenished and in the end one of our party got up to fill the jugs herself. We had tickets for a show at The Atkinson, which was due to start at 19.30. We booked the meal for 17.45, which should have given us plenty of time, but in spite of pre ordering our meals and paying a deposit we waited an hour for our food. The attitude of the manager when we complained about this and also pointed out tha we hadn’t been offered a drink , was rude and defensive. We pointed out that we had to leave at 19.10 to be on time for the show and we eventually got our food. However , time was against us. We almost cancelled dessert because it wasn’t forthcoming and we were conscious of the time. When it eventually arrived we had to eat it with forks because the table hadn’t been set for dessert. When finally, spoons were found, some of us had already finished our dessert. We were promised discount on our bill as compensation for the poor service but when the bill came, this had not been put on and we had to ask for it again. Sadly, in spite of the food being delicious, we will not be eating in this restaurant again.

Been a few times and enjoyed it. Last night however I have never experienced service like it. A table of 13, pre seeing a show, so early sitting, restaurant was very quiet. We had preordered our food and gave ourselves 1hr 30mins to eat two courses. On arrival the table was not set up for that amount so we pushed tables together. We were not approached for drinks. After asking 2 times for drinks to be ordered, we never got that service. Our request was ignored. 50mins after arrival, and speaking to the manager, asking 3 times for our food it arrived. The food was good. Thank you chef. We then asked for our desert because we had 10mins left to get to the show. The pudding arrived but no plates had been collected from the main course. We stacked up all our plates, put them at the end of the table to make room. Asking for the main plates to be taken away, we were again ignored. Waiting to eat our pudding we realised we had no spoons. Asking for spoons we were told 'yes, in a minute'. We ended up looking for spoons but had to ask for more as they had run out. We felt the service was the worst experience we have ever had. We were met by no apology, compensation of maybe waiving the service bill. We did get an excuse of restaurant is a big restaurant. The manager started crying when we asked for the service charge to be deducted. We did not expect the thinking a ssional customer/manager conversation was taking place. We certainly don't want anyone crying, so decided to leave. Equally do we expect that behaviour, ppor service and attitude. We turned around as we left to see the staff, two males and the manager laughing at us. Customer service at its worse unfortunately. Shame because the chef was excellent and manager /staff let him down. On reflection, all the staff seemed very untrained. Higher managerd need to look at this. Your setting is nice, food good but service will stop people visiting.

Have been a few times and have always loved the food and the service. Special thanks to Lewis who has taken care of us on more than one occasion and has always been wonderful. Great food. Lovely atmosphere, wonderful staff especially Lewis.

A very nice restuarant situated on Lord Street in Southport. The food and service was very good indeed.

2nd time I've written a review on this place and another one that not good. Entered the restaurant six of us only a third full at 2 o'clock on Sunday looking forward to a Sunday roast and yet again couldn't have one. Waitress not even making eye contact with me wobbling her head side to side just saying there be a long wait . Think staff need addressing as last time we went on a Sunday told us they didn't have this didn't have that and told us we needed to be a member to get the three course Sunday offer . A little frustrating after looking at places that could accommodate us due to kids having food allergies. Last time I put a review was replied to send private email and they would deal with it . Email sent and didn't get a reply. Service is atrocious

The service is really poor in here. It makes the meal really unpleasant despite the good food. I eat out a lot, but I boycotted this place due to rude staff and lack of training. For example, if someone orders wine the waiter should open the bottle and let the customer taste it before walking away. I have also ordered wine for my main only to get it half way through the course. And on other occasions, I have been left standing at the entrance for too long. (The accumulation of multiple bad outings here has led to this review.) I think this place would be really good if it could sort the staff out. Staff = waiters. Part of the main reason for eating out is to be waited on. I think the staff (I cant call them waiters) look down their noses at their own job, and try to avoid doing it. Management should address this.

Good place to visit. Staff last night were very friendly and accommodating. Food was tasty. 6 desserts ordered one order of sorbet didn't arrive until all other desserts had almost finished

Really nice place to Dine the service was good but the food was freshly cooked & you weren't rushed so you could dine in comfort & the music wasn't so loud so you could talk between courses without having to shout, all the food was hot & tasty.would recommend .

I was in your Southport restaurant on Sunday 10th December 2023 with four friends . We enjoyed a wonderful meal and had fantastic service from one of your team, Lewis. He was wonderful. Nothing was too much trouble. One of my friends is a wine expert . Lewis was so accommodating by letting him try before making his choice. Overall deserves 5/5, especially for service, waiter was kind and happy to describe menu and help with wine pairing. The mussels aintree' was absolutely phenomenal, stake and fries were perhaps a little too dry but the cheese sauce corrected everything. Place has a nice, authentic bistro vibe.

The place is nice. Not squished. Prices are ok. There are options for the kids menu as well. Portions are not small.

Great menu deal ...£25 for 6 course menu during certain Tuesdays in October/November. However there are other good value offers for 2 to 3 course meals on menu. Really good quality food , great service and lovely surroundings with ambient music in background. Well worth a visit.

Only called in for a Coffee & Cake so can't say too much about the food really, what we had was good. Service was good and decor of the place is well done with mural of the old open air swimming pool.

We love to eat out as a family and as a couple. We've been coming here now for a few months, and I can testify to the consistency in the standard of customer service and food. We have always been greeting promptly with a smile,whether it's been for a midweek lunch or on an evening. We have always enjoyed the atmosphere it's classy and relaxed. It's not stuffy. The music in the background is eclectic but not overpowering. The staff aren't intrusive yet are still attentive. Now to the important stuff.. The Food! We have enjoyed the change to a winter menu, and it's equally as tasty as the summer one. The meals are well thought out and presented. The menu isn't vast (I think that's a good thing) but has plenty enough for everyones tastes. You can see every care is taken, whether it's a starter or main. Hubby loves the bacon wrapped dates. I adore the sea bass. They make the perfect Amaretto sour too! Here are a small sample of the meals we've enjoyed.

Went there with my wife. We don't live in Southport but are regular visitors. Tonight we had the 3 course menu. Unusually for us we had the same. The French Onion soup to start which was tasty, fish cakes for mains which was delicious and came with a generous portion of vegetables. To finish we had the sticky toffee pudding. Sometimes this dessert can be stodgy and overpowering. Not here. You could taste the dates. I had a refreshing mixed Berry mocktail to drink. Service was friendly and quick. Good value for money. Will be here again when we return.

Good food but really slow service. We had had a table booked at 6pm for 11 people including young children. We pre-ordered, arrived promptly but still didn't get served until 7pm

Visited on Airshow Sunday for breakfast, the restaurant only had 5 or 6 tables being served, we ordered and waited over 45 minutes for our food (another table who ordered after us got theirs first) after which time the drinks had been drunk and not offered for more. Eggs were overcooked, asked for them to be changed, the original piece of minute steak was re-used so became dry and tough as well as using the same plate with the ketchup I'd put on it, the replacement eggs were undercooked and the whites not set. Several members of staff walked past us before the manager (I assume) took it away. The food was knocked off the bill and the Manager was friendly but too long for food, other staff uninterested and overall not worth the money or experience, won't be going again any time soon

Took over 20 minutes to bring us bread, then we waited another 15 minutes for the dips (by which point we'd eaten the bread). We then waited 45 minutes for our main courses, which we had to chase up with the service staff. When they brought the main courses, they hadn't cleared the starter items away, so had to squeeze everything on to the table as well. They then only took the starter plates and bowls away because we asked them to. I had the salmon risotto. The risotto was nice, but the salmon was very over cooked, so quite hard. My partner had the maison burger, which he said was lacking in flavour and the bun was stale and burnt. Overall, not the best experience, but the venue is nice, it was just a shame about the food and slow service.

Me and my wife spent the day in Southport for my 65th birthday. We popped into Bistrot Pierre for lunch. The food was excellent.

This is a local restaurant that I regularly eat at, usually for a special occasion but sometimes just for lunch. Staff are always happy to serve us & are very good at keeping us on the ground floor. This is ideal for myself as means I can easily access the accessible toilet. Also means my guide dog doesn’t have to guide me up & down the stairs which I hate. I’m usually offered water for my guide dog aswell which I always appreciate. I love the food menus and the food is always beautiful. On the rare occasion it’s not, staff are quick to get this rectified.

By far the best restaurant in Southport. Food has always been out of this world. Interior is very stylish and in trend with the local area. Staff have always been friendly and polite. Would highly recommend for a decent meal and drink.

This place is always hit and miss. Last night unfortunately for us was a big miss. We had our table booked for 6.30 to avoid the busy period when service is traditionally patchy. The night ended quite quickly when we were served our first drinks. We ordered a glass of champagne and a glass of white wine. Both were delivered cool but definitely not chilled. Understandably at over £20 for 2 drinks we asked for them to be replaced with cold ones. To our huge surprise the waitress was sent back to our table with the warm drinks and told us that was as cold as they were going to get! I felt sorry for the waitress to be put in this position by whoever was on the bar. We cancelled the drinks and ordered different drinks. Whilst waiting we questioned the restaurant’s ability to manage their refrigerators and decided to eat elsewhere. No apologies - no explanation just dirty looks from a woman behind the bar as we left :-)

I was met at the bar by a gentleman who goes by the name of Kai, I was met with a smile, I asked for a gin and tonic and asked him to choose, and when i trialed it, it was delicious. Service when seated was exceptional, I believe it was the mangeress, Violeta. I also enquired with a waitress named Angela regarding my fillet steak, and before I could finish my sentence, she assured me it would be taken out the fridge immidietly to remain room temp before cooking. The entire experience from start to finish, is that what I found in the likes of, scots, the ivy and the blue bird. I hope you are incredibly proud of your staff, it’s a reflection from above.

Food tasted frozen . Very bland and cold. Service is awful . Had to keep asking for correct items. Plates were left on table too long . Waitresses seemingly didn't care about giving customer services 🙄 and a smile wouldn't go amiss. Not to cleanest of places either

Overall disappointing. French onion soup was OK but not that hot and lacked depth of flavour The signature dish Beef Borngingom was really lacking in depth of flavour and was rather bland. Sorry but reminded me of a 'good' school dinner. Boil in the bag flavour! Why would the signature dish not be authentic French.????

We ate in Bistrot Pierre for the first time since moving to Southport, and it is fantastic. The food was delicious, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the selection of drinks was excellent. It's well worth booking a table at the bar/restaurant.

Absolutely 5 star customer service and food!! Greeted by a lovely lady in a pink face mask. Forgot to ask her name..😬 We visited with our big dog and the staff were extremely happy to see our four legged boy. Food was amazing. Reasonably priced for food and drinks.. definitely would recommend and next time we're in the area we will visit again.. thanks to the staff for such amazing service and food. 👌

Lovely food, great service and a really nice evening had by all. We had choices from the Christmas menu - chicken pate, turkey with all the trimmings and it was lovely. Ample portions but space for dessert so you didn't feel too stuffed. Also alcohol free wine available if you're driving. Great atmosphere and will be going back! 😊

Fantastic food. In for a staff do. Staff were friendly, attentive and the food was great. I had Turkey with all the trimmings and everything was perfectly cooked. All of my team enjoyed their food also. Would deffo recommend. Few cheeky little cocktails to end the night

Great food, I had the calamari starter and the burger with blue cheese for my main (Can't remember the name) but it was absolutely lush! The prices are also very respectable and the staff are nice too. Nothing negative to say about this place, great impression for my first time!

Shown to a table, given a menu and wine list and then left whilst at least 3 waitresses cleaned tables in a virtually empty restaurant. After 15 minutes without service, we left without food or drinks.

Lovely food but unfortunately they didn't have one of the mains we wanted to order (hence the 4 star rating).
