Great food every visit - with Greek or Indian options which is always a difficult choice as both are high quality. Kleftico is the signature Greek dish if you like lamb, good steak or kebab options as well a full range of Indian dishes. Rip Efes - such a shame its now closed

First visit won't be our last, went for the Greek menu, bit sceptical about how good as Greece one our favourite places to visit. Decor is dated and service is slow. But food worth waiting for. Mains I had stifado and husband had kleftiko both amazing, very reasonably priced.

We phoned the order in and were told it would be ready at 2000, we then got a call back to tell us it would be 2015 as it was a large order, not a problem as it is only a short distance away. (Meze for 4 plus some add-ons). When we got there we had to wait over 30 minutes longer, whilst listening to the cook telling us that he had to do it all on his own as 4 members of staff had called in sick. No offerof an apology or a sweetener, a drink while we wait or suchlike. When we got the food home, only 2 miles, it was largely cold. Chips were only half cooked, soggy and tepid. Very poor selection of food, despite paying over £90. I will say that the Kleftiko and Lamb Chops were good but the chicken was cold and dry, as were the prawns in the same package. Some small cubes of beef were included which were cold and tough. Pittas hadn't even been warmed up. Hardly any salad but 2 large portions of tasteless rice. Tzatziki was good but just as well that we ordered extra. Friends have reccomended the Efes to us in the past so we thought we would finally give it a try but we won't be going back. There is a similar restaurant about a mile away which scores far better in our view. Totally disappointed, also by the lack of response to our messages.

My wife and I have visited Efes many times, we are always greeted by the owner and his staff, we are made to feel like one of the family. The reason we come back time and time again is the quality of the food, whether it’s the Greek or Indian food, the quality of the ingredients and the taste is fantastic! And of course the service. Sometimes the food takes a little longer to come out and that’s because it’s all made fresh and it’s worth the wait. The price for the quality is reasonable and sometimes I end up taking my leftovers home so don’t waste any. If you haven’t tried this place before, I recommend it, there’s plenty of choice and the service is great! Keep up the great work Aaron.

Visited on a Sunday evening with my family . I am the holder of a dine card , and before we ordered I asked if it was not accepted for any part of the menu ? He immediately led me away from the main menu onto a 'special set menu' which he said was better value than using my card on the main menu ! The deal that he advertised on the site was '25% off the total bill' so I asked him if I could use the card against extras (drinks/coffees etc) again he said no . We had the meal (which was very good) and ordered the bill which was for £74.00 , once again I asked him if there were any discounts available and once again he declined . When I got home I worked out that if I had ordered exactly the same food from the main menu , the bill would have been in the region of £56 with the card discount . I wouldn't put anyone off eating here , just don't use any of the discount cards that they claim to take .

Table booked at 7pm, starter arrived at 7.50 pm, was then told there were no t-bone steak which we had ordered and did we want fillet steak instead. ....no I wanted the t-bone i had irderes but we politely agreed. We had to get the staffs attention for more drinks which took ten minutes each time. The meal arrived and it was a little bit of shredded lettuce , steak & a tray of fries which were burnt & dry. We had to remind staff we had asked for more drinks & they brought vodka & tonic even though I'd asked for vodka and coke,no one came over to ask of our meals were ok and we gave up even bothering to order a desert. left nearly £80 lighter and still hungry. ...will definately not be going again, very poor show, service and food.

I think we may have been a booking too far for New Year's eve. The staff were distracted and lacked concentration and the service was so slow. As a party of 5 we ordered drinks and one arrived without the requested spirit in it. About 10 minutes for a drinks order and a starter order (of which 1 was missed off and reordered), we didn't arrive until 9pm so 10.10pm for the starters to arrive meant we were all pretty hungry and the starters, mixed Greek and Indian were ok, the side plates had been taken after our poppadums' so we ate without them. The error was spotted and side plates were brought just before we had finished unfortunately one hadn't been washed so probably have been better to leave them. One main arrived at about 10.55pm having passed the table twice and our waitress couldn't remember what it was so we all went through our orders and eventually we were told its a mixed kebab yes that's it, about 11.05 the other 3 kebabs arrived (probably been left somewhere as all 3 were cold). My Lamb Bhuna arrived at this time also (the owner/manager/chef) had just run past our table shouting 'there's a lamb bhuna waiting to go out = how long is it going to be there?). The rice arrived steaming hot 10 minutes later, the lamb was ok the silver server having just about kept it warm enough. 3 of the party left to wait in the car as they were just so irritated and didn't want to be rude to clearly under trained and overwhelmed staff on New Year's eve. I waited patiently for the bill to arrive but had to go to the till in the end. Apologies for the wait, mistakes, meals arriving at different time just didn't happen, we did get a 'happy new year' as we left (the last 2 not the first 3) but it was a very poor experience. The food despite its coldness appeared as if it could be ok under swifter serving conditions and indeed my lamb was good, but the service was so bad we wont go back.I do feel for the team having to work at this time but it doesn't excuse such 'slapdashery'.

I was really looking forward to my first Efe's experience tonight. I booked it for my family for New Year's Eve, and we'd all been stalking the reviews and making our menu choices in anticipation.Nobody came to greet us upon arrival, so there was a bit of an awkward wait with a few other people who came in behind us. However, it's a busy night of the year, we were early, and not all of our party were present, so we weren't concerned. Once we were seated, the service was initially friendly and reasonably paced. This did not last. The starters we'd ordered while we waited for our party were forgotten about. Once everyone was present, we had to reorder them. We quickly received 5 popadoms, but it was another hour before the starters arrived. No apologies accompanied the food. The menu and website do advertise that good food takes time and there may be a wait involved, but this seemed beyond reasonable for a selection of Greek dips and some basic Indian starters. It was a long time before our plates (which were not provided until after we'd started!) were cleared. The mains started to come out around 40 minutes later. Initially, just one main was served. Sadly, when we are all served, four out of five (kebabs and rice) dishes were cold; only the bhuna came out hot. We were so hungry (it was now nearly 11pm and most other customers had left) and concerned we might have to wait still longer, that we ate it anyway. Just as well, as nobody asked how our food. Again, there were no apologies or explanations provided. The food, while cold, was tasty, though I can only assume it was left to sit before serving. We even had trouble getting our bill, even though the sign on the door had been flipped to "closed". Nobody bade us farewell, thanked us, or said happy new year. It's been such a disappointing evening. The best advice I can offer visitors is to order Indian, not Greek, as this is the only meal that came out hot. Perhaps try booking your table earlier as well. The worst part of the experience was undoubtedly the lack of customer service. An apology and any sign of interest in whether we were enjoying the experience would have gone a long way to improving our overall impression of the restaurant. It may have been evident from our faces and body language, but none of the staff showed any concern that we were not enjoying our experience. That's 5 customers in our party who won't return, and a few others seemed to share our sentiment. A real pity.

We visited on a Wednesday evening about 7:00pm. First choice you have to make is Indian or Greek. We chose the Greek. We had tabuleh, hummus and tzatziki with a Greek salad and pitta bread. all authentically flavoured as a starter. For main course my wife chose stiffado. It was a generous sized portion and full of meat, a top quality dish. I had kofta, again, very enjoyable. Sadly, by this time we were too full for a dessert so just finished with coffee. This restaurant opened in Warrington in 1964 and has surely survived because of the quality of the food. We shall be back.

I'm always suspicious of any decent restaurant that tries to do more than one speciality. Greek and Indian don't exactly go together. But in this case they do. As a group of 6 we had a mix of indian and greek and in almost all cases, were impressed. I had the stuffed vine leaves which, although tasty, were quite expensive at £4.50ish for 2. However, the remainder had much bigger portions so i just chose badly. The mains however were a universal success, including two vegetarians. The Stifado was better than the one i had a couple of years ago in greece and the portion was good. Drinks were reasonably priced and there were plennty of staff. I'll definitely come back soon.

This little bistro serves the best madras sauce that I have ever tasted. It is full of flavour and a great balance of heat, flavour and texture. Just perfect. Generally the service is very friendly and every dish, both Greek and Indian is a pleasure. This is not typical of the modern Indian restaurants which serve the dry chicken in a generic red dyed one size fits all sauce, this is freshly cooked from scratch and you can tell by the distinct flavours. There is an Indian restaurant next door which is typical of the modern cheap and nasty eateries, avoid this place, go next door to Efes, wait a little longer for your food and enjoy. The service is genuinely friendly and not false, the portions are not gut busting and nor over priced. I highly recommend this lovely little gem.

Visited Efes Brasserie on a Saturday night for a friends birthday. Upon arrival had a short wait for our table but only because there were a few of us. After sitting we were served drinks and chose our food. The mixture of Greek and Indian looks odd but in reality gave our group a choice of meals. Half had Indian and half had Greek. I went for the Crevettes to start which were fresh and very tasty. Everyone else enjoyed their staters too. For mains I had the mixed kebab and all compnents were well cooked and very nice. After desserts and more drinks we all left feeling full and very satisfied with both the food and the service. On the night I was critical of the slowness in serving the food but on reflection I think because it was all served fresh the food took longer to do. The staff were attentive without being too intrusive and overall I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Visited once before and the service was slow. Tonight was appalling, put in a freezing draught, asked to move and ignored, eventually moved ourselves. Food served wrong and we were told that what was delivered was what was ordered, no apology. Starters came in 3 groups, Indian starters (poppadoms) first which was for 2 of our table of 3, 20 minutes later the Greek Hors D'ouvres starter arrived with a single pitta bread cut into slices for the 2 people. The Greek salad starter did not arrive so we had to ask for it, no apology when this arrived. Mains - Fish Tikka ordered for a main, the manager came over before making it and asked was this a main which 2 of us confirmed it was. It came starter size and when mentioned the manager said we had said it was to be starter size. Looked disgusted when we said he was mistaken. Chicken Korma served as Chicken Tikka. so dry, no sauce, told the waitress this was wrong but not to remake it bring the sauce, 10 minutes later she eventually brought the sauce along with the garlic naan bread. Manager remembered my son had ordered this the last time we had been there, he went on to say how nice the chicken tikka goes with the korma sauce, which to us sounded like a mistake they often make. Okra served as a side was under cooked, not nice. When we were leaving my husband tried to tell the manager where he could have done better, he turned around and walked away as if our thoughts did not matter. We will not be returning.

The restaurant looks quite modern from the outside, but step inside and it's like going back in time to 1988 apart from the music which was OK if you like Abba played on loop. Dated and tired.Staff were thin on the ground and disinterested. Manager as all over the place almost like Basil Faulty. We waited half an hour for our starter although restaurant wasn't full. When it came to being served (lamb tikka) it was tough as old boots with no hint of tikka spice. We had ordered a main course but cancelled due to the starter being inedible and had overheard other diners complaining of the wrong food being served/ too long a wait. The manager didn't attempt to find out what the problem was or apologise. Went on Sunday to celebrate our daughter's 1st wedding anniversary after booking 2weeks prior to that.On arrival our table wasn't ready yet their was only 1other couple in the restaraunt and remained the only other people while we was there. We were a party of 8 and once seated waited 10 minutes to be asked what we would like to drink by a very inexperienced young girl who then took at least a further 10 minutes to bring our drinks, as for the food order I was amazed at how it took another 30/40 minutes before the only waiter/server asked what we would like to eat and that was after one of our party having to ask the young girl how much longer we would have to wait. When the food arrived it was of a goog standard but nothing special, my Grandaughter had chicken kebab which was nicely cooked but no bread or salad with it, I had mousakka which came with salad and that was it, everyone else in our party ate from the Indian menu which they enjoyed.Tried but not going there again, extremely poor service.

We had visited many times before, but not recently, and our return to Efe's did not disappoint. This Restaurant has a unique Menu, and is able to provide aficionados of Indian and Mediterranean cuisine with a well balanced choice of food. The surroundings are a muted combination to enhance the ambience. The food, as before, was excellent, and presented beautifully. We had the mezedes starter, which consisted of a number of dips, separated by carrot batons in the design of the Sun. It was a work of art, and great patience. The main courses of Stifado and Lamb / Spinach, with rice, were tasty and cooked to perfection. Well done Chef.Efe's is a leisurely experience, and the service reflects the attention given to the food before it leaves the kitchen. Everything was properly blended, and served with due respect. There is no fast food at Efe's, and long may it continue.

Here for a birthday celebration with 18 others. Pre-ordered for the first time which speeded up the normally leisurely service...but this is part of Efes...it takes time to cook good food. Excellent as ever.

Visited EFE's again this time with a party of 16 for a birthday celebration. Service is leisurely but to be expected with such a large party. The food is still excellent, Klefitico as good as you'll get anywhere. The mixture of Greek, Indian and Grill means there's something for everyone and the prices are very reasonable even the wine. We'll be back

We decided to give this restaurant a try as it has been in Warrington for so long. And the mix of Greek and Indian cuisines appeared to be unusual, so we were curious as to what it was like. The frontage is very plain, and not very inviting, which is probably why we'd never been before. However, we wanted an early dinner after Saturday shopping, so called in without booking. The welcome was warm and we were invited to choose any table as we were first in - about 6pm. Although the decor was rather plain, the restaurant was very clean. We ordered a pint of Cobra each, and it was the best pint of Cobra we've had for a long time - nothing watery about it at all!!! My partner chose an Indian starter (tandoori chicken) followed by a Greek Mains (Stifado) but I stuck to Greek and chose the vine leaves and Kelftiko. Service was leisurely and pleasant. The food was hot and well cooked. As expected for the menu, it was a homely style of meal. Plenty of meat which just fell apart, and nicely spiced, although my partner found his meal had a little too much cinnamon for his taste. Several other couples came in while we were there and a number of takeaways were served too - we left at about 7.45. Whether we'll return remains to be seen, but I wouldn't be unhappy to go back.

Even though I've lived in warrington for around 7 years I'd never tried this restaurant. From the outside it looks quite small and ordinary however the food was excellent. The ingredients were obviously fresh and of a high quality. They were happy to make us a rice dish which wasn't actually on the menu and nothing was too much trouble. The younger male waiter was extremely helpful and recommended a lovely white wine. It's a shame though that they don't serve prosecco by the glass. The atmosphere was nice and because it is quite small it wasn't too noisy. The only down side was it took them quite a while to clear our main meals by which time we didn't fancy a dessert. Having said that there was a large party in so they were very busy. We would definitely recommend this restaurant and will be back in the very near future.

Ate here on the 7th Feb, booked a table but probably didn't need to in hindsight but it was still reasonably busy. A quite small but pleasant place with attentive staff. Food is Greek/ Indian, we chose the Klefitiko ( lamb shoulder ) and the Stifado (topside of beef stew ) both were excellent as these are two of our favourite Greek dishes, they were true to the original. Prices are average, but we thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would go again.

We went with a party of 22 people at Effe's to celebrate a birthday. Once everyone had arrived we waited ages to be served drinks, the staff didn't seem to know what they were doing, and drinks were left on the bar for almost 20 minutes before being brought over. When the starters arrived, they came at different times over the best part of an hour, then we waited another hour for our main courses which were again served in stages. Some people who had ordered curry dishes were served the meat sauces and had to wait up to 10 minutes for their rice, we had to ask for this in the end. The kebab meals were cold and the rice was cold. One person's meat sauce was full of powder. All the curry dishes seemed to look the same even though they were supposed to be different and the chicken tikka masala tasted like Bisto gravy. The waitress giggled when she realised that 4 people had no meals. I can't express how bad the service was! The manager did give an explanation that his main cook was ill, however, this was in retrospect and although sympathetic, this was not our problem. Even the birthday cake with a 30 shaped candle was lit then left to melt down half way before they brought out the cake so it ended looking a bit pathetic! All in all a very disappointing experience. When we complained, the manager offered us a discount but was very unclear as to what this would be. Other people in the restaurant at adjacent tables were also complaining about the food and the service which was very distracting. What was supposed to be an enjoyable event turned into a fiasco. The manager handled our complaints very badly and would not reason with us, blaming everyone else but himself. Non of us will ever go here again and I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone!!!On another note, we had an elderly lady with us aged 84 who had to climb a very steep set of stairs, go down another set of stairs and through a very narrow doorway to use the ladies room, wholly unsatisfactory for anyone with mobility problems! Customers Service skills. Nil!In retrospect, the manager should not have accepted such a large party if unable to cope and provide a good service, although, judging by the other complaints from other tables, smaller parties were also experiencing similar problems to us.

Im going to keep this short and sweet, absolute disgrace! Apparantly this restaurant was established in the 1960's, how on earth they are still open is a mystery?! Very slow service, understandable if they were run off there feet but they weren't. After a long wait food was disappointing, maybe if the waitress who was sat under the stairs playing on her phone all night actually did a bit customers might not wait as long, shall not be returning!

On an evening when the Grill on the Square and other restaurants in Warrington were closed on 26th December - this previously untried restaurant opened its doors to us And we found a bit of a gem I like curry - she likes a steak And the restaurant delivered My chicken jalfrezi and the saga loo followed on from a warm avocado starter And the steak was good although a touch over done Really happy to have found this restaurant - the A team if Aaron Abdul and Adam looked after us very well No hesitation in returning or recommending Thank you

What can I say, the food was quite good, although it is obviously not difficult to serve hummus and tzatziki, but they were authentic and well, presented. My main of kleftifko was excellent the only problem is that we arrived at 8.00 and it was 9.30 before mains arrived. The staff were unable to cope with the volume of customers all 24 of us! What a shame, it was clear to me, as a caterer myself, that the kitchen could not cope and the front of house staff were very ineeienced.

Tend to visit once a month or so.Have tended to have Greek (which I recommend) but have recently tried the curries.Really well done - I particularly enjoy the pilau rice - they make it bespoke for you ie its not the usual rice with some colour in it.Cant understand why its not busier!

I visit regularly, my absolute favourite restaurant in Warrington. Despite the old interior, its a lovely and well cared for little family business and the food is 10/10, both Indian and Greek. Clean, friendly and delicious. Couldn't ask for more. I definitely recommend to all Indian and Greek food lovers looking for quality filled tasty food!

We are not great fans of Indian food (in general), but the Greek food is great. We have been a few times for a Mezedes platter, which is a small pre-starter, starter of greek dips (tzatziki, houmous etc) and pita, then a whole pile of barbecued meats to share (lamb chops, prawns, steak, chicken - loads). Very tasty. Highly recommended and healthy at the same time.

Came with family for Sunday lunch and all meals were incredible. All staff were very welcoming and found us a lovely table with enough room around us for baby’s pram. Service was impeccable! The atmosphere was warm, welcoming and casually upmarket. I cannot recommend highly enough and we intend to visit here regularly! Also portion sizes were much bigger than we expected for a French restaurant - please try it you won’t be disappointed!
