Food is great but treatment of staff is atrocious, the staff are made up of students at the college who work without pay, makeing money for the restaurant. DO NOT TIP the money does not go to the kitchen staff, or waiter's

Lilly Rowan and Andrew served/made us a fabulous breakfast. All staff were friendly and extremely helpful. All staff looked very happy

Delicious food and friendly staff.

Visited the restaurant by chance when visiting Derby and had a few cocktails. Served by a lovely young friendly girl and cocktails were freshly made and delicious. Food brought out around us all looked delicious - we were sad we didn’t visit earlier in the day to try the roast!

Excellent authentic food here tonight

Our first visit & it more than exceeded our expectations..arrived to a packed out Restaurant on a Thursday Lunch , sat next to a really lovely lady who was dining on her own . We got chatting with Judith who couldn't praise the food & owners enough. After devouring our Lamb Shank & Beef Bourginon we could see what she meant , house Sauvignon Blanc also very good .Lemon Tarts had sold out so we took home Coconut Macaroons instead . A really wonderful dining experience.. there was a real buzz about the place , people were leaving truly satisfied ..

Called in for lunch on a Saturday. Although we hadn't booked, a table was made available for us. Staff were very friendly and attentive. The food was excellent and good value for money. Looking forward to visiting again in the near future

After seeing adverts for this restaurant I booked a table for myself and a friend before we went to the theatre. We both ordered salmon and smoked cod fish cakes with buttered new potatoes, black olives and soft poached egg amongst other things. The potatoes were balls of leftover mash fried, the black olives were green and the soft poached egg would have bounced if I'd dropped it. Then afterwards I realised that 10% service charge had been added! The server tried her best to put it right but we left very disappointed and won't be returning.

We were in Buxton for my birthday and had planned on eating Italian at night. In the afternoon we spotted a little cocktail bar so called in for drinks. What a welcome ! The owner immediately offered us the cocktail menu and found us a seat in the busy bar area. Decor was wonderfully French - interesting pictures. We liked the place so much we asked about eating in the evening. We managed to book the last table! When we came to leave we asked for the bill for our cocktails - given that we are not from Buxton and were unknown to them, we were amazed when the owner said not to worry, he’ll add them to the evenings bill ! The evening meal was wonderful- we had the Moroccan sausage & the lamb in a chilli jam. Both excellent! Service was great, atmosphere wonderful. What stood out for us was that it was as far removed from a chain restaurant as it could be - very personal and friendly, noisy in a good way - just the chatter of diners ! Absolutely loved that there was no “piped” inane music playing. A great evening - we will definitely return.

We are very fond of this place. It was our second Mapperley visit after we moved to the area. The service is attentive without being suffocating, and the food is flavoursome. Prices are not at all bad, especially for the current times. The tandoori starters - to share - and the prawn tawa are my selections.

We had our wedding here and I cannot stress enough how perfect the day was. My wedding contact, Olivia, was instrumental in keeping stress down leading up to the big event, and was very professional and friendly. The team on the day was excellent and made sure the day ran with no issues. We had a wonderful no stress wedding day and it is thanks to the lovely team who looked after us!

Visited here on a night in Thrapston. First class in customer service and food. Never had a better meal. We were welcomed and it was packed, no wonder, glad we booked. There were a few waiting on tables and they were efficient and entertaining.

Cake was great, coffee and tea also nice. Staff very welcoming.
