Having found my new found local Indian shut I had to go elsewhere for the curry I craved. So glad I did, had a mean curry and a beer, and may have found my new local. Will definitely be back to try another.

First time user of takeaway. Had many good reports of the food and it didn’t disappoint. The staff were friendly the service was good but the food fantastic samosas crisp and light as was the popadoms the sauce’s were to die for great😋

I have never had a takeaway order thats right from bengal. Its totally frustrating when you get home and unpack or its been delivered. Maybe add numbers to the menu so orders are correct and not misinterpreted.

Don't bother. We really like the food from here. But EVERY SINGLE TIME they muck up the order, and we either pay for things we don't get or we have to wait an extra 40 mins for them to recook the food after they give what we have paid for to someone else. Will not be going back here.

Best Indian restaurant ever! We travel down from Sheffield 2 or 3 times a year to visit friends and always eat here. Apart from excellent food which is consistantly fabulous, the staff are amazing. Nothing is too much trouble and they are attentive without being overbearing. Highly recommend Chicken Biriyani (my favourite) and delicious Onion Bhaji's.

We were visiting friends and ordered a takeaway on their app. It was deleivered promptly by a smartly dressed waiter and the food was excellent. Different dishes to the normal and all spicy without burning the roof off your mouth. Wish they were neared our home as we would definitley use regularly and visit the restaurant. Recommended.

We have become regular visitors to the Bengal Spice of Thrapston (not to be confused with one of the same name ) both as a couple and with family including our grandchildren who love the place. They have an excellent menu to chose with a full spectrum from mild to mighty hot and all beautifully serviced up with helpful and friendly staff. They have a well stocked bar with beer on draught.

Nice food. Good choice and not too expensive. However, did feel rushed and things were taken away from the table at the end when we wasn’t quite finished. I’d certainly go again to try, and the waiters were polite. Try it….see if I’m wrong

We always come here for a meal when visiting the area. Service and food are excellent. The menu is extensive and there a lots of dishes you won’t find on other Indian restaurant menus. Reasonably priced. His Lordship rewards you with 5 stars

Been a few times and also used their delivery service twice. The food is always spot on and the service could not better. One of the best Indians I’ve ever been to

If you asked me if I would recommend them before today, I would have given this place a good review. And in fact I was only telling a friend about the food at this place yesterday. However tonight, we ordered on line and 5 minutes later we had a call from the owner to say that they could not deliver as we had previously called a driver a “gypsy”. We explained that he must have the wrong house as we would never say that to anyone and that my partners son used to work at his restaurant and always spoke to the delivery guys as he knew them from When he worked there, So it couldn’t have been us. He then went on to explain that it was someone in the house that said it, we again said that he was wrong and this did not happen. We asked if this had anything to do with my partners ex working there now as a driver (and Working tonight) and if this was the real reason. He still said no it was because we had abused the driver when he delivered. He then explained that we could go and collect but that he couldn’t deliver. Does this not beg the question that.. if we had truthfully abused their driver then surely they would not want our business at all…Whether it be collection or delivery? I’ve never left a negative review about a small business like this before as it goes against the grain for me. However, to lie about us just so that my partners ex doesn’t have to deliver here is appalling and not very customer centric at all. We are yet awaiting confirmation of the refund of the payment we have made on line. I fully expect them to lie in response to this review. However I know that everything I’ve stated here is accurate.

I spend now at least once a month with business associates and there is never any complaints . i think i might have nearly completed the menu now and my favourite is the Gurkas revenge . the kids also loved it when we visited at Christmas

This seems to be the go-to place for my friend and I. We know that we will get good food and unobtrusive service. My friend is a vegetarian, but they will prepare any dish with a vegetarian option.

We’ve had takeaways in the past from here which have always been great so we decided to visit the restaurant and we weren’t disappointed. Our waiter Khaled, was excellent. Very friendly and welcoming without being over intrusive. The food was outstanding, great flavour and hot (temperature) and the portion sizes were very generous. We will definitely be back.

Very nice restaurant with attentive staff. Unfortunately one meal came out below standard but was swapped promptly with a perfect version. I would have preferred they remove the plate with offending dish rather than me having to push it to the side and use half a plate. I could have asked of course but should be automatic. I would however return without hesitation.

Our second time here and very impressed. Our waiter, Nads, was superb. Very attentive and looked after us really well. I started with popadom and pickles, a cobra draft beer too and a chicken chat purée. All very nice. For main I had the Gurkha revenge. A slightly sweet and spicy dish of chicken and prawn. Not as hot as I usually go but really tasty and something I would definitely have again. I had keema rice to accompany it and a Peshawari naan. What I forgot from our previous visit is that the portions are huge. Another thing, when lifting our naan off the trolley, a piece got left behind. Nads saw that and used two spoons to put it back on our plate. No sooner had we thanked him and begun to tuck in, there he was with another naan on the house. A really enjoyable meal with excellent service.

Dined here a few times. Honestly the best Indian food. Friendly staff and great service. Made to feel very welcome. Unbeatable!

My partner loved his food mine was pretty good although I wished I had picked something a little more flavoursome but fish tends not to be a rich sauce. Sadly the waiter on the evening in question was not in the least friendly or welcoming. We didn’t receive one thank you for the tip we left, let alone ask us how our meal was which made for a strange atmosphere, ironically the other waiters that evening were both very friendly. As we don’t live locally we probably won’t return although we would not recommend to my daughter who does, due to the waiter alone. Food was pretty good

Went this weekend for a takeaway meal. Restaurant was busy on arrival and many takeaway orders ahead of ours, but no problem , sat with a complimentary beer whilst we waited. Food was good as usual . Would definitely recommend as the best in town

Visited with friends for the Wednesday buffet where you pay a fixed price for starter, main, side with rice or naan. The food is lovely but very generous portions so had to take doggy bag home.

This was our second visit with our friends from Thrapston, Srah and Paul know the people very well and they made all four of us very welcome. We all had a different dish but every meal was prefect, for the taste, the flavour and the precise cooking ways of the chefs in this restuarant. It is clean, crisp, not at all oily or greasy, just wonderful. I cannot praise the service enough, they shook our hands and made us feel like we were really appreciated for using the restuarant.

Best Indian in Thrapston, we normally eat here on the Wednesday buffet night which is always busy mid evening. Worth booking a table unless you want to eat earlier in which case you could probably just turn up.Good extensive menu to cater to everyone's taste.Drinks selection is also good.Staff are friendly, sometimes you have to wait a while to pay the bill but that would be my only criticism.There is parking in the Bullring outside or in the surrounding streets which is free.

I couldn't believe it when P suggested we get a take away from this place. I reminded him of our last few experiences but as time had passed and our options limited, he persuaded me. We've now ripped up the menu - it's in the bin. It was terrible - again the only saving grace being it was a Wednesday night and the food waste would be collected the next day so it wouldn't be hanging around in our bin. Never, ever, again.The tandoori king prawns were wet - swimming in an inch of coloured water - a tandoori dish should be dry. It must have been the water coming out of the wet prawns. I do not believe the prawns were tandoori'd either and believe they were dipped in red colouring. They were tasteless. They were binned.The vegetable biryani was xxxxxx. I can't type the words P has used to describe it. My words would that frozen diced vegetables were used along side other nondescript veg. Rice over cooked, and wet. I was tasteless. It was binned.Actually just remembered - the popadoms were edible - so, to be fair, something was eaten.It was expensive and the 20% off for cash (strangely the same % as VAT) - still doesn't make it an attractive revisiting option. Never again.

As you walk in to this restuarant you see all the accolades and awards that this place has received and you are hoping that it lives up to the praise. Not a cosy restuarant because of the high ceilings and open plan feel but perfect nonetheless. I cannot praise highly enough what the food was like, the onion bhajee's were just the best ever, no grease but clean clear food. I have a wonderful curry that I had never heard of before but recommeneded by our friends and a stuffed paratha, again, the paratha was not greasy but perfectly cooked and the curry was an absolute pleasure to eat. Everybody on our party of four was of the same opinion, our lucky friends go here regularly because they are local so we are very grateful for Paul and Sarah recommending this restuarant. The staff were brilliant, very welcoming when we arrived and shook our hands and thanked us when we left. Could not fault anything and the thouroughly deserve the accolades and awards.

We were staying in a cottage a little way down the road and the owners recommended this place to us. We weren't disappointed.

We visited the restaurant on the spur of the moment and were pleasantly surprised by it. The restaurant was busy and had a relaxed, friendly feel to it. The service and food were both very good. Our waiter, Jack, assured us the chefs would be more than happy to create a dish for us that wasn’t on the menu when we asked if they could do a mushroom balti. We also asked for the garlic chilli chicken to be made with mushrooms instead and they were more than happy to accommodate. The onion bhajis were light, the mushroom balti was good but the star of the evening was the garlic chilli mushroom curry. It was packed full of flavour and really spicy, just as we’d requested. We will definitely visit the restaurant again.

We arrived on a Saturday night without booking, with the original idea to order food to take home. We decided we would eat in and so glad we did. We have had many takeaways from this place but eating in was so much better! We asked for the table in the far corner for just the two of us but the waiter kindly advised they had a large booking of 8 that would be seated next to us so advised we would possibly prefer not to sit there.

Went out with a couple of friends midweek. The food was very nice and the staff very friendly. Some different dishes on the menu. Which made a nice change. The food was very well cooked and very tasty.

Beautifully cooked chicken and vegan curries provided for a large birthday bash; tasted great, piping hot and good value for money. Huge thanks to Max and the team for making this so easy and stress free. Well done and see you next time.

On arrival to this well anticipated meal, we were greeted at the door by a BO ridden memeber of staff who looked like he had not showered for a week and didn’t know what an iron was, he took our coats with urgency and force, this made myself and my partner feel extremely uncomfortable in this establishment. We were escorted to our dirty food ridden table which looked like the feeding of the 5000 for flys. Putting all of this aside we were promptly forced into making a which choice as it was barely an hour till closing time. Upon walking away I heard the waiter slag me off to other staff members about how long we had taken. Upon food arriving it was poorly presented and looking nothing more than a school dinner slopped into the plate, the food was cold so we immediately sent it back with promise of replacement. It’s fair to say the MICROWAVE did a poor job! Because we had travellled a while we were hungery so promptly ate our food and grabbed the bill to leave as blooody quickly as possible! Upon payment I only paid for our food and drink and got a look of disgust when I refused to tip the waiter! Please all avoid this establishment at all costs. Do yourself a favour and never step foot in this place!

This little gem, now renamed Bengal Spice, is tucked away in the free car park, known as the Bullring. This is behind St James' church, which is accessed via Chancery Lane. Food is cooked to your liking, mild or hot, and the menu is extensive, including Bangladeshi, Bengali, Ballti, vegetarian etc. If what you want is not on the menu, they will cook it for you. The viewing window into the kitchen allows you to watch the food being cooked. The restaurant is light and airy, albeit a little cool on occasion, with high ceilings that remain from the days when it was the Corn Market Hall. Parking is immediately outside the restaurant, but the car park often fills up quickly by patrons of the nearby Kings Arms and early evening users of the Ambulance Hall. Booking is not always necessary, but probably advisable. The Bengal also has a takeaway service, but do not deliver.

Very impressed with the service and the food. Great place, good atmosphere and I will go back if I’m in the area again.

I have visited this establishment on many occasions, sadly to find each time worst than the last! I will not return until new management-chefs come to this restaurant! All the food we had , had the same red sauce, not even a nice one , it was used in the starters, and in all main courses! We asked for pilaf rice , got chicken fried rice when I asked was told that is it , not a colored grain of rice to be-seen , I’m not color blind ! How this restaurant stays open I don’t know when there is better in town!

It's amazing how few people are aware of this excellent restaurant due to it being hidden away behind the church and car park, but it's well worth the trip! The decor is great, service first class, food brilliant, and it even has a viewable kitchen! We thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

This is an excellent restaurant. The house red wine is so good we had two bottles. The food is cooked beautifully with decent sized portions. The menu is extensive and it was difficult to choose. Excellent service from the staff. Will definitely go back here when we are back in Bedford.

Didnt live up to the reviews or expectations.

We enjoyed a lovely meal for 4 last evening, the lamb madras and chef's special green king prawn curry being particularly good, but unfortunately the rice appeared to be microwaved as it was very clumpy and not the usual pilau rice. The okra sides were delicious as was the peshwari Naan. We have been patrons for quite some time so please sort out the rice!

We have visited several Indian restaurants over the years and this ranks up there with the best .

Really good meal here, group of 7 including 3 children. Good service, Max, Naz and the team as ever friendly with our children, enjoyed the Chilli Garlic Chicken, Sag Aloo and poppadums with generous various dips and chutneys. Currently have to take alcohol in as licence not yet renewed, but keeps cost down anyway!

Went to celebrate a birthday so wanted a nice evening. The staff were clearly not interested in us. The waiter who came to take the food order stood next to the table, gazing into the distance and at no time did he speak to us, just waited for us to notice him! As we were hungry, I finally started to order but would be interested to know how long it would have been before he actually said something. No smiles, no conversation, nothing. We knew there was no alcohol but we were not bothered. Food took ages to come. Waited for an hour between the starters and the main and one of the sides was barely warm. Could not get anyone's attention despite it being fairly quiet. Had to ask repeatedly for drinks to be refilled. Food was OK but nothing to write home about. Shame really, it could be so much better if the staff were better. I don't mind waiting if I know that is what is happening. Left feeling as though we had been an inconvenience. Won't go back.

Great food, friendly good service, shame about not being able to serve alcoholic beverages but I’m sure they have got that under control!

Sadly we were 2 of only 6 customers on this particular evening. The staff were very pleasant and attentive. The food was good and plentiful. We were pre-warned that the restaurant does not currently have an alcohol licence so took our own. Not a problem for those in the know but might be for those people arriving on the off chance of a table who haven't been warned. The plus side is you don't pay double for drinks!!

The food is mediocre to say the least (after many visits). It's a nice venue, but that's about all it has going for it. The staff are consistently rude and unwelcoming.

On the down side, the restaurant was very cold, having said that it was a cold night. It's the first time I have had to eat with my coat on! The waiter didn't seem to be too happy with us being there, which didn't help. Our starters were delivered swiftly but they arrived while we were half way through our poppadoms.

Friday night takeaway; chicken madras and rice ok, cauliflower bhaji looked and tasted as if it had been cooking for hours, onion bhajis soft. This was collected in prime time Friday night service when you would hope food would be freshly cooked. So disappointed.

A Wednesday is a great nite to try out this Resturant ! Various dishes, that are all average, I find I’m never very excited about this Resturant , but is better on average than others locally !!

Our number 1 stop for a quick takeaway or a nice meal out. The staff are always friendly and chatty, the food always very tasty with decent sized portions. The chicken balti is always hard to pass up!

We have dined here many times and used their take-away facility too. The menu is outstanding and quite special in the Indian restaurant world. It has many flavours and dishes which you would not encounter normally in British Indian restaurants. The fish curries are particularly good, as is the range of Biriani dishes. the staff are very helpful in explaining the more outré dishes. The price is right. Thoroughly to be recommended.

The restaurant is hidden away behind the main street with a car park adjacent. The building has been sympathetically converted from a large agricultural market hall into a very pleasant restaurant which also caters for the takeway market. I was most impressed at the quality and quantity of the Indian cuisine. We waited around 20 minutes for the orders to be prepared and when eaten it proved delicious. The prices were reasonable and I will certainly go again, probably for a meal there with my wife.

We went here last year as a group, one member of staff was rude to a member of our party. The return visit was different entirely. Great food very well cooked and presented, good ambience and friendly attentive staff. I would like to take the wife here on a date night, it is that good.

We booked last minute and were delighted with the service, quality of food and overall experience. It was somewhere that we had not tried before (Bedford has many restaurants serving this cuisine) but would definitely return.

We found Bengal about 5-6 months ago and it was lovely then and still is. We go about 2-3 times a month maybe more on some occasions. Staff are lovely, friendly, professional and very accommodating. Nothing is never to much of a problem. The staff always have a smile on their faces and make the time to have a conversation with you. The food is absolutely amazing and full of flavour. It always comes out pipping hot and is a fantastic quality for the price. Would very much recommend bengal brasserie.

Still our fave Indian. Great food, lovely staff. Wednesday eve is banquet night with £10 getting you a starter, main, side and rice/naan. Great value.

Even though the restaurant was nearly empty the service was very slow from the start. Only two menus given out even though there were six of us. Drinks took at least ten minutes and were wrong. Alcoholic beer given when non alcoholic was ordered and white wine was corked and sent back. Starters were reasonable but mains were poor with only five or six small bits of chicken in lots of sauce, far too much food colouring used. Once again the order was wrong. Staff were not attentive and did not seemed bothered. Worse still the tables were wiped down with very wet cloths leaving the table wet and uninviting. Not an experience I will repeat.

Fantastic food and service, lots of different choices. If you love an Indian, you wouldn't be disappointed

Me and my husband found your restaurant just under 2 weeks ago. We first went on the 27th May 2017. The staff were really friendly, nothing was to much trouble for the staff. They were very professional and up help a high standard for serving/taking orders/talking to the customers. The food was amazing, lovely flavours and well cooked. (I had a chicken curry and mushroom rice, my husband had veg biriani) :) and the price was really good. We then went again on the 2nd June 2017. Both me and my husband had different curries from the first night and again the good was lovely, really good flavours, (this time I had prawn bhauna and mushroom rice, my husband had chicken jalafrazi) food was piping hot on both occasions. Would highly recommend this restaurant.

Freshly cooked food, flavoursome and plenty of it. nice to see some new dishes on the banquet menu. Spacious restaurant, friendly staff and great food.

Visited on a Saturday night about 9pm, hadn't booked but got a table ok. Restaurant had about 3 tables free. We had starters , main , dessert & a bottle of wine, 2 cokes & a beer. My main was Brasserie Massacre which was delicious and my partners milder dish was also very good. I did ask for boiled rice but was served pilau as they had ran out of boiled. Desserts were mango Indian ice cream & coconut ice cream which was very good & finished it off nicely. Total bill £60 for the two of us. Atmosphere was good, staff good and variety of food excellent.

Date night for my hubby and I and booked in here. When we arrived there was 1 other table, we were seated and our food and drinks order taken. The starter of Tandoori chicken for my husband was dry and inedible my Prawn Puree was good. When the starters were cleared we ordered a bottle of wine with our mains. Having waited 30 mins for the mains to arrive the wine didn't and it was impossible to get any of the servers attention. By now there were approximately 7 tables seated so not overly busy.We asked on 2 separate occasions for the bill and eventually went to the bar to ask at which point the wine turned up!!!!! We explained that we no longer wanted the wine, paid and left. Never to return.The waiters do not interact with customers at all and you are almost left to feel like and inconvenience.Don't waste your time and money.

Went there on Sun day 30 April 17 for a meal. We got there at 1745 (opened at 1730) Lovely setting inside. Kitchen was open so could see Chef cookingService was really good and food was lovely. price very reasonable Would recommend

I've had a take out from this restaurant twice and I can't say how wonderful the food is, really special. The menu is so different & creative, food is delicious. We plan to eat in the restaurant soon, cannot speak highly enough about the food and the staff are soon efficient and professional. Quite superb, just go as you won't be disappointed.

Visiting the area on business, never been before and was recommended this place. Upon arrival, myself and a colleague were let waiting for 10 minutes until I managed to attract the attention of a waiter. He called over another member of staff which I asked is there a table for two? I was asked if we had booked as it was a Wednesday and you must book as it is banquet night. No we had not as we are new to the area. You must book we were told again, as if I hadn't heard the first time. Ok we will leave I said to which the response was no you can have a table if you want but you must book next time. So, we took a table for two. The waiter came and we ordered but was told we can't have the special offer banquet as we hadn't booked. Food arrived and was nice. I personally thought it was average but my colleague enjoyed his. Service for the food was good but after asking for the bill, it seemed we were then forgotten about. We decided to leave and pay on the way out. Service let down! So, food ok, some service ok, place itself nice but moral of the story, BOOK in advance if it's a Wednesday. Needless to say we won't need to as we won't be back.

This restaurant is without doubt THE best Indian restaurant I have ever eaten in. From the friendly welcome, to the immaculate cleanliness to the superb attention to detail. I scored this place a whole hearted 10 on every aspect. Will not go into detail of what we eat, but will say that every freshly cooked course brought out flavours and freshness my pallet has not experienced in a long time. AND at reasonable affordable prices. ANYBODY reading this that is not aware of this restaurant, Make the effort to visit. YOU WON'T BE DISSAPOINTED.

When for a meal with my partner was not expecting a bargain for £9.95 on Wednesday.. well I don't blame them getting rid of out of date chicken and other food production that has a horrible odour to it all ...I can say good marketing skills you have there give away cheap food for less than half the price ever business has a dark secrete to it

This is the 2nd time I have visited and enjoyed it just as much as the 1st visit. The food is delicious. Would definitely recommend the prawn puri starter, lamb bhunna and the chicken tikka biriyani.Pleasant atmosphere and both times visited had not booked and was quickly seated.

There is so much choice in the menu, but I always find sometimes like.The staff are attentive without being intrusive and always happy to offer advice on choice. The food is tasty with lots of flavour. Always a nice touch with rose at the end of the meal.

The Bengal is a great place to eat. Food is always a high standard, the staff are friendly and the service is good. The restaurant itself is large and spacy so the tables feel roomy and set apart.Only gripe is there could be another toilet. There is always a queue and should be more loo facilities for the size of the place.

Gotta say opened my eyes to a different but traditional style of curry house. On a Wednesday night place was packed in tried my usual dishes biriani and a dansak I was very impressed, would definitely recommend!

We went as a group of 7 on a Wednesday Banquet deal. Table was booked for 8pm - we're all mums so we went when the kids were in bed. It was busy when we arrived and ordered but food was slowish to come out - understandable - but we were eating our mains with 1 other table occupied, so it was getting late. No one ordered any desserts because of the lateness but no one could fault the food. It was delicious and piping hot. Never had a bad meal there, they are accommodating and nothing is a problem when you ask.

Regularly visit Bengal Brasserie and enjoy every time. Love the surroundings, the food and the staff. Always welcoming and premises are modern and a pleasure to be in.

Been a few times since it opened , enjoyed the experience everytime. Good food, nice modern design and good service not had any issues.

Would highly recommend! From walking through the door to paying the bill everything was spot on. Great tasting food, friendly efficient service and a nice environment to dine in. Will definitely return.

Visited with a large party last night it was chaos trying to get the orders right and when the food arrived mine was very poor quality, prawn puree starter that had little flavour, a friend had garlic mushrooms that were not eaten as were full of water and cold, i chose Chicken tika saag which was so dull with no flavour at all that i left a large amount and having told the waiter his reply was " oh ok i will pass that on to the chef" This was my first visit to a place my friends had raved about so i was really looking forward to going, needless to say i won't be returning there....

They provided an excellent value meal for our large party at £20 a head which was excellent and great assortment of dishes, all very of a high standard.

I love Indian food and was really looking forward to a curry.The meal was Ok, but that was all. Heat and bland sauce was a shame for what could have been a good meal. Portions were generous and the Naan bread very good.Good for the price

What a great restaurant this is. I was taken there by my daughter, and it was tucked away off the car park! This is a hidden gem! The menu is wonderfully varied, the atmosphere in the restaurant is very friendly, the food superb and the prices reasonable. We will be visiting again.

Fairly busy when we arrived but we were seated quickly and equipped with drinks popadoms and pickles very quickly. Order was taken and food was excellent. I would highly recommend the brasserie revenge full of flavour. Price was fair as well.

Smart professional staff and a good atmosphere and decor make it a pleasant place to eat. Unfortunately, the food tends to all taste the same, regardless of what you order. Additionally, they will insist on adding lots of food colouring to their dishes. Who wants to eat luminous yoghurt and mint, or bright red chicken?I think they suffer from trying too hard: there are far too many dishes on the menu so they all start to look and taste the same. Pitty, this is a pleasant place for a night out with friends, but could be much better if they has a simpler, more focused menu.

We have eaten here on a number of occasions, as a family, with friends and as a couple and have always been extremely pleased with the food. Our last visit was on Sunday and the two of us started with the sag prawn puree and some onion bhaji's. Delicious!To follow we chose a vegetarian pathia and dansak curry,with a brinjal bhaji (as a side dish) and a stuffed paratha and peshwari nan, as accompaniments. Every dish was a tantalising balance of flavours...The atmosphere was very relaxed and the staff were friendly and efficacious. The Bengal Brasserie is an excellent restaurant, by far.
