Nice place, came with a friend only been the once but food was hot and pleasant enough and would come again.

Pleasant mother's day meal. A little disappointed that everyones food didn't arrive at the same time for the mains. Also shocked that no mint sauce was available for the Sunday roast

I hate leaving negative reviews but unfortunately this is one I can’t let go. Went to Bistrot Pierre Derby with some friends on a Sunday for an absolute joke of a meal. The vegetarian option of the set menu was unavailable and they substituted with a cheaper option, the other option would have been only 70p more expensive than the original set menu dish, so I feel that it would not be unreasonable to allow people to choose. I went with the option that was not in the set menu but I feel I was given a set menu serving. I ordered the aubergine tortellini, which costs £15.95. I knew it would be a rip off but I was not expecting it to be absolutely criminal. The serving is 5 (yes, FIVE) tortellini. Over £3/tortellini?!!! You might be wondering if it was a good tortellini at least. Yes it was good, but definitely not worth the price. If it was £12 it would still be overpriced. I know everything is more expensive these days, but this is just ridiculous. I have to say the waitress was really lovely even though she initially put the wrong order for me and this meant my meal came 5-10 minutes after everyone else’s. She was very apologetic and came back a few times to update.

Food was delicious. The front of house members were lovely. Specifically the man with the mullet (I think his name was James, he was very friendly and engaging.) and Azaria was very polite and friendly.

I recently revisited Bistrot Pierre after a long time and decided to try their Soirée Gastronomique evening, a six-course dining experience priced at just £26.95—an incredible value for money. As it was my birthday, I had signed up for Club Bistrot Pierre, which gifted me a free bottle of wine. We opted for the red, and it was a lovely addition to the meal. On top of that, the app offered a free bread side, which was absolutely delicious—fresh, hot, and paired with amazing butter that melted perfectly. The six courses were well-paced and thoughtfully curated. My favourite dish was the Camembert cheese with bread—rich, gooey, and indulgent. The full menu for the evening included: 1. Vegetable tortellini – A light yet flavourful start. 2. Baked Camembert – Absolute perfection with the bread. 3. Cod with potatoes – Cooked beautifully, simple yet satisfying. 4. Eton Mess-inspired dessert – Sweet, airy, and refreshing. 5. Cheese board – A well-balanced selection of cheeses. 6. Hot drink – A comforting end to a great meal (I didn’t take a photo of the tea) For the quality and variety of food, £26.95 per person felt like an absolute bargain. The service could have been faster, but it was super busy! The overall experience was fantastic, from the welcoming atmosphere to the thoughtfully crafted menu. I’d highly recommend this evening for anyone looking to enjoy a tasting-style dining experience at a great price. Looking forward to visiting again!

I had my birthday meal and it was wonderful. Our host Carla was perfect, the star of the day. Carla was attentive and available and helped with everything we asked of her, she was an absolute delight! I would recommend the venue for private functions. The team were very helpful in setting up and were happy to clear away anything we left after.

I've been here twice over the last few months. The food on both visits was of the highest quality, so much so I booked our Christmas party dinner here, and they didn't disappoint. Thank you, and we will see you again shortly.

Review edited I am so disappointed. This place used to carry the flag for good food in Derby.I returned my main course and I have never done that before in any restaurant. The steak was inedible, just a piece of gristle. What decent chef would serve that up to a customer? Wetherspoons would have been apologetic. Despite returning the main course, no manager came to the table. The starter was bland and the wine list was irrelevant because most of the wines were "unavailable". The server had no idea when asked for an Italian red. Huge management failings here. I am profoundly disappointed. I did raise these issues before leaving the restaurant.

First time here today. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with a mix of cozy booths and tables. The service was attentive and friendly, and the food was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend the honey chorizo starter and steak frites main. Will be back soon!

Delicious food! Had the Steak Frites and it was such a tasty meal. The servers were all lovely and helpful. The restaurant had a fabulous vibe and even though it was a bit busy you didn't feel too close to other tables. Definitely will be returning here!

This establishment offers a delightful way to start the day. The morning meal provides a satisfying and enjoyable experience. The friendly staff enhance the pleasant atmosphere. It's a wonderful place to relax and savor a delicious breakfast. A visit here is highly recommended.

Its excellent value, and I know to come in at a price there has to be a compromise at current food prices, but the compromises are starting to show through. Like I say, its still great value for money for good quality food.

Lovely meal and super friendly staff

We had a family meal this afternoon. We had a booking and were promptly and politely shown to our table. We didn't know that the resturant had a discoumnt deal on for January (and ealry Feb), and were pleasently surprised to find one. Nice touch. We perused the menu and foiund dishes that the three of us would enjoy. Two had a-la-carte, and one the Sunday Roast. The starters came promptly. Unfortunately we wound up ordering just after a fairly large group that led to delays in the main course. However, when the food arrived, it was all excellent quality, freshly cooked and hot. I had the roast beef (cooked pink) which was super. We then ordered desserts, and this is where we really hit a delay - somehow there was confusion (which might have been caused by my ordering an Olives starter for dessert - I don't have a sweet tooth). Someone made an assumption about this order they shouldn't have.... We raised the issue with the staff, and this was dealt with both courteously and promptly once raised. I'm therefore giving a 4-star rating for service, which would have been 2/3 had the staff not dealt with the issue so well. Overall I'm rating a solid 5 starts because the food quality was very good, ambience good, and the staff were not hanging about - they were always busy and polite. Just a faux pas with our dessert order and delay on the mains.

Food lovely, toilet disgusting and not working

Came with family and had great service from Deanna and lovely food and drinks. Offer on throughout Jan and feb made it excellent value too.

Had Christmas day lunch was excellent and staff were brilliant as usual. Atmosphere fantastic as always.

Service was a little slow and food was more expensive than expected as there were no special offers available on that day, a Saturday. That probably explains why the restaurant was quiet. Food was good though.

For several years now we have had dinner on New Years Eve and have been delighted, however this year we were not. The food was fine when it arrived but long delays between courses and drinks from the bar were even longer and we never did get our coffee. We know it was New Years Eve but things did not seem as organised as normal with customers having to stand amongst dinners whilst waiting for their tables. Our waitress/server was so embarased she spoke to her supervisor and we did get a very substantial discount on the bill. Not quite the evening we were hoping for or expect from one of our favourite restaurants.

Waited over 4 hours for food,waitresses said we had wine forcefully we had not ,been pirres many times really, poor service,the only good thing got total refund.some chaps possibly 8 left waited1 hour.

We were extremely disappointed with our New Year’s Eve experience at Bistro Pierre. We’ve visited before and had enjoyable meals, but this time was a far cry from that. It seemed as though the New Year’s Eve Soirée Tasting Menu was overbooked, and the restaurant was severely understaffed. There was only one staff member working on the bar for a full restaurant! We arrived on time for our reservation, but it took 25 minutes before anyone acknowledged us and showed us to our table. A large group ahead of us had also been waiting for quite some time. We decided to add the wine pairing with our meal and asked the waitress if it would be best to order a drink first. She agreed, but by the time we finished our appetiser, our first wine flight and the drinks we’d ordered still hadn’t arrived. The food itself was fine, and the time between courses wasn’t too bad, but we had nearly finished our mains before the next wine flight arrived. I had to ask three times for water for the table. They also ran out of dessert wine and simply offered us the house white as a replacement. When the coffee arrived, it was cold, and there were no Petit Fours which was stated on the menu. Overall, it was a very unpleasant experience. You could feel the tension among the staff, and it was uncomfortable to witness the other tables complaining and confronting staff around us. Having worked in hospitality for years, and someone who eats out often - I’ve never seen such poorly managed service. I also just feel awful as I promised my partner this would be a great experience rather than doing our usual new year plans.

Had a lovely evening, great service, lovely food and great cocktails, my only disappointment was one of the starters , the salad garnish was looking decidedly wilted , the crumpet that was the base of the rarebit was only just cooked with very little cheese on . My friend’s beetroot starter was delicious she said. The main of pork medallions were very tasty and well presented.,as was the Christmas pudding. Coffee and brandy were delightful. Certainly looking forward to visiting again in the New Year.

My wife and I plus two friends had lunch here yesterday (23 Dec 24) to celebrate her birthday. I fully appreciate it was two days before Christmas and they might have been understaffed but the service was not up to the standard we've come to expect from this restaurant. The waitress (Gemma C, I think) spilt some of the wine she was pouring into my wife's glass and made no attempt to clean it up. Our friends ordered a gin and tonic and a cider whilst I asked a beer after having to call the waitress back as she was walking away before we'd finished giving her all our order. These drinks arrived partially poured; the cider had ice and a wedge of lime in it and the gin had half of the tonic in it. My friend never has anything in his cider and his partner only has a small amount of tonic water in her gin but neither of them were given the option, i.e. the drinks arrived like that. Each time the waitress came to our table she spoke quickly, sometimes too quickly for us to understand what she was saying against the background noise. This was particularly evident when she asked if we had any allergies: only my wife heard her and answered. The waitress should be aware some people have hearing difficulties and ensures she gets a reply from everyone at the table.

Family party…was truly amazing, staff members were highly attentive and friendly with each course and always there to see if we were comfortable, enjoying ourselves and the delivery of our food was perfect. We couldn’t fault anything. Thank you once again for a superb evening, Ashley and the team are all amazing and work very hard to deliver their best. See you all soon.

Have been a few times recently for breakfast lunch and dinner at different times. Always good food, good service and reasonable prices. Get the app and gather points for money off offers too.

One mushroom sough bread starter was so hard would not eat it, the aubergine tortilla was was too thick and no filling, steak was very small and not cooked medium it was rare. For the price it was horrible and a waste of money, not going again

Only downside was dessert menus snatched away rudely by male waiter at the end of the night after we said we didn't want desserts.

Visited this evening for the first time, for our anniversary. Lovely warm welcome from staff, minimal wait time dispite it been really busy, the food was absolutely incredible and great value for money, would definitely visit again and recommend to anyone.

We had a table for 5 on Sunday early evening. Really lovely atmosphere, it’s bustling as was quite busy, very nicely decorated. Food and cocktails were delicious, service a little slow but didn’t concern us and we were catching up with family. We shared numerous starters and deserts and all had the same main course, everything was so good! Can highly recommend and we shall be back.

Great staff no in comparison to many places they were amazing. There was a lovely warm atmosphere, plenty of space between tables. There were six of us and we had a great night out there. Food was ok to good and I would definitely go again.

12 of us there for a Birthday breakfast treat but sadly it ended up being a bit of a disappointment. Service was fine but felt it needed more than one person serving us as the poor lad was rushed off his feet bringing the food out and then going back getting butter and sauces. Either have them out ready or get others to help as a few of us were sat waiting for around 5 minutes before we could tuck into the food (who wants a full English without brown sauce and butter for your toast?). Two of the girls had some very undercooked poached eggs that were very liquid and had to be sent back. The bacon was very fatty, fried eggs overcooked, the orange juice had ice in it and tasted watered down and then the water used in our pot of tea had a very strong taste that made it undrinkable. Young lad who was serving was great but food only average so won’t be back for breakfast. Perhaps they need a proper breakfast chef and a few more staff members for bigger groups. All of it was pre ordered so we didn’t catch them by surprise.

Bistrot Pierre is always on the favourite list, I dont think I've been as part of group of 19 people celebrating a 40th birthday, of which is never going to be the easiest group to deal with.... however! Lauren did an incredible job of looking after us all, nothing was too much trouble and she had a smile on her face throughout! Thank you for helping to make the evening one to remember.

the food was excellent as always and the service was first class. special mention for Lauren our waitress but the noise was unacceptable. There was a large party, 20 plus, who were making so much noise we couldnt speak to one another without raising our voices which added to the noise level. Also the speaker just above our table was playing loud thumping music. Instead of staying for after dinner drinks and coffee we left early, all with headaches. I would suggest that large parties are seated upstairs where they can shout as loud as they like. It was a shame as we love the restaurant.

Second time eating here this year. Lovely atmosphere and good food once again. Our waitress Lauren was very friendly and attentive and quickly rectified a mix-up with our drinks order. Look forward to visiting again soon.

Wow what happened to this place! Four adults and three children, 8pm Sunday evening. The place was dead. Three tables to wait on and two waitresses on shift struggled! Slow service with us and the other tables. We arrived at 8pm and didn't get our mains until 9.15pm. Re-ordering drinks was slow, the waitresses chatting at the bar and prepping for the following day when another table is shouting across the restaurant to grab their attention. Shocking! Food was okay. I asked for pink burgers and I never got that. My friends steak was cold. Well below the usual consistence standard. Nearly £8 for a dessert is a joke and so is the added service charge! I add my own when I think it warrants it. Not coming back here.

Very nice meal this evening, really enjoyed it. Fabulous 6 course meal. Unfortunately I was seated under the air conditioner and was rather chilled! Staff did turn it off a while, but was cold. The service was a little slow, it was rather busy. Felt a little overlooked after our main course. Very very good quality food, can't fault it.

my first time here and wow the atmosphere was beautiful the setting of the restaurant was incredible. the food was outstanding and the service from everyone we met was second to none . i highly recommend the restaurant to everyone and would definitely go back again .

Oh dear, what's happened. As a group of six we are regulars at pieres gastro nights as they represent excellent value for money typically. Last night however was way off, not enough staff, so waiting a long time for courses ( not that that mattered to us we were happy chatting) but service was slow. The food was also below par both in terms of quality and quantity. Now I understand it hard to be consistent but this was way below par. The portion sizes have become very small which is disappointing, they may as well increase the price to £30 per head and make the food offering better rather than try to cut corners. The half pint of beer from a can for £5.25 was extortionate in my opinion. My final gripe was they didn't declare the service charge was already in the bill which non of us realised until we'd paid. Now if it was an option I wouldn't have paid it as the service and food was poor. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for now but if it's the same next time we will go elsewhere.

The atmosphere was nice, it was jolly. The service was far too slow but the staff were pleasant. Portion sizes were tiny and I have a small appetite and I was hungry. Style over substance. I wouldn't return or recommend. Not value for money, at all. A tiny sliver of salmon with a few pea shoots, 4 shrivelled new potatos and a sauce is not worth the price.

We had a team dinner and ordered from the Menu Pierre. Some of us ordered medium well-done steak and others well-done, but there was no difference between the two. Unfortunately, many of us felt very unwell that night, almost as if we had food poisoning. This wasn't my first visit to the restaurant, but I've never experienced such issues before. The service was also disappointing. Despite pre-ordering, many of us didn't receive the correct items. One of my colleagues, who doesn't drink alcohol, was served an alcoholic beverage even though she specifically ordered a non-alcoholic one. Overall, I was very dissatisfied with the service and had expected a much more enjoyable evening with my colleagues.

Wednesday lunch and small queue to get in before opening at midday- good sign, especially as Derby very quiet despite sunny weather. Food was very good, good value and service was engaging which always makes the meal.

A local person recommended this gorgeous bistro . We arrived to a lovely welcome, it was busy for a Saturday afternoon but they fitted us in and let me tell its the best food my partner or I have had in a long time . The young lady who serviced us was amazing I only wished I'd taken her name . Definitely you must try xx

We had booked a table and turned up early. We picked our dinner choice's and was told they had run out of Beef Bourguignonne. The restaurant was empty, how can they run out of food on a Monday evening when everything is apparently cooked fresh to order. We left and found another restaurant nearby. We now call the restaurant a Southgate, stacks of potential but unable to deliver.

We ordered off the menu Pierre, which was great value for money. Calamari was very fresh and well battered. Minute steak was also really flavourful and the garlic butter really complimented it. However, we did ask for it pink and it was on the well done side, but this didn’t take away from the flavour. Creme brûlée, as always, was a great little treat for the end of the meal. Espresso martini was delicious too. Our server, Carla, was very attentive and kind, topping off the experience.

Really great mid-week dining experience. We were looked after by Carla who was very friendly, polite and attentive- made us feel very comfortable. Only reason it’s not 5/5 is that we ordered cheese for dessert and it came straight out of the fridge so was difficult to enjoy/not as enjoyable as it would be at room temp. Overall, such a great place for the price you pay!

They literally microwave and steam everything I watched them for two hours and they didn’t cook nothing from scratch microwaved mashed potato steamed beef and I watched a customer complain about the food being cold and it got put in the microwave instead of a fresh one being made disgusting behaviour will never be coming here again

Visited two weeks ago for dinner. The service was very pleasant, though a bit slow at times, but it wasn’t a major issue on this occasion. The food was good. The value for money was acceptable, though the portion sizes have been drastically reduced. I really dislike the "discretionary" 10% service charge. Is this the USA? This should be forbidden. Although it says it "can be taken off" the bill, it might be too awkward to do so. This time, I left the 10% service charge because they informed me the parking attendant was around and I had forgotten my ticket. Otherwise, I would have refused to pay the 10% service charge. I believed the service charge was included when you pay your food. I paid a good amount of money for a normal (non-premium) dinner. I don’t receive extra money for simply doing my job properly.

Food here is faultless + and we found the staff are most friendly and helpfull …...on a Friday extremely busy hence it was very noisy and ….could have done without the noisy over music … a replacement of gentle sweet music would have been so much better or none ….along with all the chatter….

I've been here lots of times but when I visited a few months ago I was a little disappointed. Tried the Chicken Diane but the sauce was like a mushroom sauce. You used to get free delicious bread before your meal but now you have to pay for it and it's a different type of bread. But I think like most places, Covid closures make it hard for these places to carry on as before. I tried the afternoon tea last year but it wasn't dainty sandwiches it was crusty bread.. so probably wouldn't have it again. Staff very helpful and friendly.
