Food always good. Nice ambiance, I had the sea bass which was very good perfectly cooked. Can't wait to go back again soon. Thanks to all the staff for making it so enjoyable.

Absolute fabulous night,4 of us and we all said the same thing we loved it we we're greeted by our server aoife nothing was too much trouble for her, drinks were served prompt,as was our food, we all went for the 3 course meal which was delicious,would I recommend this too you,Absolutely, thank you all for a lovely night.

Bistrot Pierre is always on the favourite list, I dont think I've been as part of group of 19 people celebrating a 40th birthday, of which is never going to be the easiest group to deal with.... however! Lauren did an incredible job of looking after us all, nothing was too much trouble and she had a smile on her face throughout! Thank you for helping to make the evening one to remember.

the food was excellent as always and the service was first class. special mention for Lauren our waitress but the noise was unacceptable. There was a large party, 20 plus, who were making so much noise we couldnt speak to one another without raising our voices which added to the noise level. Also the speaker just above our table was playing loud thumping music. Instead of staying for after dinner drinks and coffee we left early, all with headaches. I would suggest that large parties are seated upstairs where they can shout as loud as they like. It was a shame as we love the restaurant.

Second time eating here this year. Lovely atmosphere and good food once again. Our waitress Lauren was very friendly and attentive and quickly rectified a mix-up with our drinks order. Look forward to visiting again soon.

Wow what happened to this place! Four adults and three children, 8pm Sunday evening. The place was dead. Three tables to wait on and two waitresses on shift struggled! Slow service with us and the other tables. We arrived at 8pm and didn't get our mains until 9.15pm. Re-ordering drinks was slow, the waitresses chatting at the bar and prepping for the following day when another table is shouting across the restaurant to grab their attention. Shocking! Food was okay. I asked for pink burgers and I never got that. My friends steak was cold. Well below the usual consistence standard. Nearly £8 for a dessert is a joke and so is the added service charge! I add my own when I think it warrants it. Not coming back here.

Very nice meal this evening, really enjoyed it. Fabulous 6 course meal. Unfortunately I was seated under the air conditioner and was rather chilled! Staff did turn it off a while, but was cold. The service was a little slow, it was rather busy. Felt a little overlooked after our main course. Very very good quality food, can't fault it.

Booked here as a celebration lunch with family, the staff could not have been kinder, they were so accommodating to our large party, the food was incredible and very well priced - cannot wait to return 😄

my first time here and wow the atmosphere was beautiful the setting of the restaurant was incredible. the food was outstanding and the service from everyone we met was second to none . i highly recommend the restaurant to everyone and would definitely go back again .

Oh dear, what's happened. As a group of six we are regulars at pieres gastro nights as they represent excellent value for money typically. Last night however was way off, not enough staff, so waiting a long time for courses ( not that that mattered to us we were happy chatting) but service was slow. The food was also below par both in terms of quality and quantity. Now I understand it hard to be consistent but this was way below par. The portion sizes have become very small which is disappointing, they may as well increase the price to £30 per head and make the food offering better rather than try to cut corners. The half pint of beer from a can for £5.25 was extortionate in my opinion. My final gripe was they didn't declare the service charge was already in the bill which non of us realised until we'd paid. Now if it was an option I wouldn't have paid it as the service and food was poor. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for now but if it's the same next time we will go elsewhere.

The atmosphere was nice, it was jolly. The service was far too slow but the staff were pleasant. Portion sizes were tiny and I have a small appetite and I was hungry. Style over substance. I wouldn't return or recommend. Not value for money, at all. A tiny sliver of salmon with a few pea shoots, 4 shrivelled new potatos and a sauce is not worth the price.

We had a team dinner and ordered from the Menu Pierre. Some of us ordered medium well-done steak and others well-done, but there was no difference between the two. Unfortunately, many of us felt very unwell that night, almost as if we had food poisoning. This wasn't my first visit to the restaurant, but I've never experienced such issues before. The service was also disappointing. Despite pre-ordering, many of us didn't receive the correct items. One of my colleagues, who doesn't drink alcohol, was served an alcoholic beverage even though she specifically ordered a non-alcoholic one. Overall, I was very dissatisfied with the service and had expected a much more enjoyable evening with my colleagues.

Wednesday lunch and small queue to get in before opening at midday- good sign, especially as Derby very quiet despite sunny weather. Food was very good, good value and service was engaging which always makes the meal.

A local person recommended this gorgeous bistro . We arrived to a lovely welcome, it was busy for a Saturday afternoon but they fitted us in and let me tell its the best food my partner or I have had in a long time . The young lady who serviced us was amazing I only wished I'd taken her name . Definitely you must try xx

We had booked a table and turned up early. We picked our dinner choice's and was told they had run out of Beef Bourguignonne. The restaurant was empty, how can they run out of food on a Monday evening when everything is apparently cooked fresh to order. We left and found another restaurant nearby. We now call the restaurant a Southgate, stacks of potential but unable to deliver.

We ordered off the menu Pierre, which was great value for money. Calamari was very fresh and well battered. Minute steak was also really flavourful and the garlic butter really complimented it. However, we did ask for it pink and it was on the well done side, but this didn’t take away from the flavour. Creme brûlée, as always, was a great little treat for the end of the meal. Espresso martini was delicious too. Our server, Carla, was very attentive and kind, topping off the experience.

Really great mid-week dining experience. We were looked after by Carla who was very friendly, polite and attentive- made us feel very comfortable. Only reason it’s not 5/5 is that we ordered cheese for dessert and it came straight out of the fridge so was difficult to enjoy/not as enjoyable as it would be at room temp. Overall, such a great place for the price you pay!

They literally microwave and steam everything I watched them for two hours and they didn’t cook nothing from scratch microwaved mashed potato steamed beef and I watched a customer complain about the food being cold and it got put in the microwave instead of a fresh one being made disgusting behaviour will never be coming here again

Visited two weeks ago for dinner. The service was very pleasant, though a bit slow at times, but it wasn’t a major issue on this occasion. The food was good. The value for money was acceptable, though the portion sizes have been drastically reduced. I really dislike the "discretionary" 10% service charge. Is this the USA? This should be forbidden. Although it says it "can be taken off" the bill, it might be too awkward to do so. This time, I left the 10% service charge because they informed me the parking attendant was around and I had forgotten my ticket. Otherwise, I would have refused to pay the 10% service charge. I believed the service charge was included when you pay your food. I paid a good amount of money for a normal (non-premium) dinner. I don’t receive extra money for simply doing my job properly.

Food here is faultless + and we found the staff are most friendly and helpfull …...on a Friday extremely busy hence it was very noisy and ….could have done without the noisy over music … a replacement of gentle sweet music would have been so much better or none ….along with all the chatter….

I've been here lots of times but when I visited a few months ago I was a little disappointed. Tried the Chicken Diane but the sauce was like a mushroom sauce. You used to get free delicious bread before your meal but now you have to pay for it and it's a different type of bread. But I think like most places, Covid closures make it hard for these places to carry on as before. I tried the afternoon tea last year but it wasn't dainty sandwiches it was crusty bread.. so probably wouldn't have it again. Staff very helpful and friendly.

I am coeliac and the restaurant has gluten free options in the menu and clearly labelled. The staff knowledge seems to vary however and as on stuff brought out my main separate, i wasn't thay lucky with my dessert. As the dessert was naturally glutenfree the allergy alert on the order wasn't really noted well. It's a lovely restaurant and the food was lovely but some better understanding of allergy requirements in staff would make me give this 5 stars in the future.

Have always loved Bistro Pierre but was really disappointed with the food last night. The portions of the main courses were very small. The beef bourguigon was a past favourite. However it only had 4 small pieces of luke warm beef in it and cost £17.50. The fishcakes had become one fishcake, padded out with cheap lettuce. Such a shame.

Portion sizes are a bit if a joke, very small. I had basically steak and chips, all be tasty I'm left feeling like I need more food to fill that gap. The pudding was ridiculously small for what you get paid, sticky toffee pudding is not expensive to make. These restaurants need looking at if I'm honest, they're ripping us off with shrinkflation. Saying that, I'd go again. The lady who served us was pleasant and friendly. Give her a raise!

Came here on a date with my girlfriend. A nice vibe, enough people in to make the place buzz. Lacked a cozier romantic vibe as stated in other reviews however it is probably down to personal preference. The service was brilliant. Couldn’t fault them at all. As someone who also works in the FOH hospitality, want to say the whole team are a good credit to the restaurant. Made us feel welcome from fist minute until last. Special shoutout to Mya for looking after us. Lovely lass and made sure we had everything we needed. Food was beautiful. The camembert was gooey, packed with flavoured and not overpowering filling. Bacon was cooked to tenderness and really hit the spot, although the saltiness did get a bit overwhelming. Perhaps looking at less salty sides to be served with it may complement the dish more. My girlfriend really enjoyed her steak and fries too. The panna cotta was just *chef’s kiss*. So creamy, light, right amount of vanilla. Maybe a little less berry compote as it was a bit too tart. And the couvee 94 blanc wine was really fresh and complemented the food well. Overall an enjoyable experience. Would recommend! Great job team :)

Great bit of French food, Poulet Printanier aver purée and a Rump Steak, all well served and perfectly cooked. Would return again if back to town 🥰

Another lovely meal here. The houmous was a lovely appetiser, with the prawns and crab as proper starters. Steak frites and the crab linguine for mains, all cooked and tasting perfectly. Kir Royales and Sauv Blanc to drink. Service was friendly and swift.

Excellent food in a nice atmosphere

Great service, the lady duty manager served me and my partner today for our lunch visit. Swift service for the drinks. We had the chorizo to start which while a small portion (even for one, though we shared it between us) was perfectly cooked and flavoursome. I had the Pork Medallions (again beautifully cooked and with just the right amount of the accompaniments on the plate) and the truffle fries which, although tasty, came rather floppy and pale. My partner had the Pierre Burger, juicy, packed with flavour and the truffle fry upgrade made for a perfect lunchtime meal, although his fries suffered the same slight undercooking as mine. Service throughout however was excellent from the aforementioned manager and the gentleman in the grey polo neck (sorry I didn’t catch names!) so compliments to them and the chefs!

The food is ok, portion sizes have reduced, not as good as it was. Unhappy that they add a ‘removable’ service charge. I tip regularly but I choose when and how much. Makes for an awkward bill payment if you doesn’t agree with their minimum 10%

Im not one for putting bad reviews without an honest reason to. However I have visited 3 times over the past year for the 6 course menu and on another occasion for lunch. After putting the experiences together, I don't think I would return. Service is very slow, on the 6 course menus, a lot of the time, we have been there for over 3 hours due to speed of service, considering that a number of courses would take seconds to put together (soup, cold starters, cheese with crackers), and everyone in the venue is having the same, this makes no sense. I also found that you are asked if you want more drinks quite often, even if your glasses are still full. I also felt a bit wary after everyone on our table was served mains, the last time we visited, but mine didn't arrive, I was asked what I ordered and she went back and came with a plate of food which looked like it may have been sat under the lights for a bit, 5 minutes after, another server came and asked if we had received the last fish (this made me feel dubious about the food because where did this dish come from i was eating?) and considering it was x2 high risk food (fish and shelfish) I don't believe this was best practice, I didn't finish the dish due to potential risk.

A shadow of what this place used to be, already sold out of basic classics such as French Onion Soup at lunchtime. The biggest let down though was service-whilst the server taking our order did a faultless job, delivery of drinks was very slow, and every service for our relatively small table of six totally lacked any spatial awareness, with the waiting staff leaning right across our party, hot plates and drinks crossing very close in front of your face is very poor ! From a good, solid, reliable place to visit in Derby , this latest visit has seen Pierre’s drop off our shortlist.

I've been here before for lunch, which was really enjoyable. However, the Saturday morning breakfast was just disappointing. The chef clearly didn't care. Do that at home if you must, but not for paying customers. There were many things below par with it. Won't be returning on a Saturday so as to avoid that chef's shift again. The service was great though.

We were here for my aunt's wedding reception. The food was really good, everyone enjoyed it. The service was good and they were helpful and attentive. Just didn't like the 20 of us squashed in the doorway. That let it down.

Need to have a better payment system when large parties. Need for indivuals to pay separately for their food and drinks instead of one bill that has to be split and sorted.

Bistrot pierre, has been around for as long as i can remember. Sadly it is stuck in time. The decor and service was nothing to shout about. It felt unorganised and basic In terms of the food it was just a general disappointment. They barely cater for vegetarians let alone anything else. Their french onion soup was even meat based. Generally a disappointing experience for an expensive limited menu.

Afternoon tea with my girls. Had a wonderful time. A little bit more savoury would have been nice but otherwise overall a lovely treat.

Once again a very enjoyable lunchtime meal. Very good service from Lydia and the team, so thank you very much. We will be back.

Saturday night (last night) had a wonderful time. The atmosphere was great. The food was top class. Service was excellent. Couldn't fault it. I had the Calamari sea bass, apple and plum tart with white wine and a coffee to finish. My partner had onion soup, Normandy chicken and the apple and plum tart. Would recommend. My dish was well presented and tasty…I had the fish cake.However I had a rotten potato on my meal and asked for it to be replaced…it was a very small portion of potatoes! I got another solitary potato with no butter and it was flowery! As a gesture of good will two or three potatoes would have been welcomed! I also don’t like a service charge to be presented on the bill.Otherwise a reasonable experience.

We had a lovely visit today for Sunday lunch, Carla provided great service and my free drink for my birthday was a lovely extra to enjoy with our meal.

I always used to say “you could never go wrong” with Bistro Pierre. Sadly, not the case tonight. I’m not going to go into huge detail, but the food was so poor. Cold food and elements most definitely reheated to an inedible state. The waitress was a nice girl, who apologised and took one of the main courses off the bill and a small discount from the total. However, no Manager came over to chat to us about 3 main courses being a quarter eaten. Surely, this would be a red flag that they would want to address? One of our party had visited only last week and someone she was with had to return her fishcake, as the accompanying poached egg was frozen!! It’s just not good enough and such a shame. Sadly, I won’t be returning ☹️

Gastronique evening disappointing. Starters of French onion soup and mushroom pate tasty and presentation good. Mains of coq au vin - quite salty, steak chewy and tasteless. A wait of 3/4hr for dessert and that was with a reminder! Plum tart absolutely delicious then another lengthy wait for cheese and biscuits. Coffee ordered another 20min wait with yet another prompt required. Booked at 6.30......left the restaurant 9.15 . Restaurant was busy but plenty of staff milling around- 3 tables around us arrived after us and left before us 🤣. Not sure we would return

The last time I went in December, I was very disappointed as some of the food was overcooked and items missing. However, this time was really good. Excellent service and ensured that we had everything we needed. The only thing that could have improved things is for the 10% service charge to be removed - it is embarrassing to have to ask for it to be removed and we would have preferred to tip at our discretion.

We had a great visit today for a girls catch up, we had starters and mains that were great value for money, the Brie and calamari were delicious and the sea bass was worth the money. The steak frites was tender and very flavoursome and the alcohol choice is great. Carla was very attentive, kind and helpful and made us feel really at home!

I'm sorry to have to leave a poor review this time. We visited Pierre's on new years eve 2023. The food was about average but the service was appalling. We arrived at 15.00 to be greeted by a pretty cocky waitress who thought she was funny but we found her a bit rude. We waited for about half an hour to be served our first drinks in the meantime we seemed to have been forgotten about while other tables were looked after who came in after us. We were in there for about 3 hours which was way longer than we had anticipated. We had to prompt the waiting staff for more drinks and food. Just not good enough considering we like to visit about once every couple of months as our treat. We really hope Bistro Pierre Derby gets back to it's original superb customer service but on this occasion we're really disappointed.☹️

Afternoon tea . We where really enjoying our cream tea , until we started to eat the cakes which all had cream on .The cream was off not tasting vey nice,We spoke to a member of staff who bought us some fresh cream , but for the scones the cream was not Clotted cream as stated on the menu .
