The Honeycomb in Derby

We decided to visit the Honeycomb after a family walk around the Radbourne Estate. We originally went in for a cold drink and to have a rest in the outdoor garden. In the end we decided to have out tea there too. We were all so glad we did. The food was lovely. We had a mix of meals as there was 5 of us and was surprised at how reasonable the cost was. The food was certainly worth the price. The staff were lovely and friendl too. They even came to check we were happy with our food or if we needed anything else. With having smaller children we ate outside so we didnt disturb other customers. The garden is beautifully done. The flowers give it a homely feeling and the children loved looking at each of the flowers as we waited. We're hoping to visit again before we go home from our holiday but will be returning when we come back at Christmas time. Thank you to all the staff for the lovely service :)

For me this is the best pub in Mickleover. They go above and beyond and the food is amazing! Home cooked and they have an understanding of my allergy. Pie night on a Wednesday is my favourite but they also do a stand out Sunday carvery Family friendly and they have a beautiful garden

Tiger was a really good pint of real ale.

Staff are excellent, very attentive and efficient, food is very nice, worth a visit, well kept beers, nice clientele

A very lively, vibrant pub - early on Friday evening. A great range of drinks. Comfortable. Plenty of tables. Occupied. Booking advised. A classic local. Recommended. Pool table & darts available.

Owner has little man syndrome and takes it out on hisncustomers Go sit upstairs out the way and leave your polite staff to run the place, you may have a half decent pub and customers MIGHT start returning Not to mention how many others locally agree with your discusting attitude towards people

The food wasn’t the best, the nuggets felt stale and our triple cooked chips were burnt to a crisp, Wouldn’t recommend.

....ventured in for the curry night - food was perfectly adequate for the $$$ and a free drink with the meal too... Live music entertained us while dining too ........... Sunday carvery - not too busy - still had a reserved table - food was lovely and adequately priced again ....would recommend....

Not from Mickleover, but often visit to see close family. Really like this place – the ales are spot on, the food good and reasonably-priced, the lad behind the bar was polite and attentive and when outside in the (nicely-kept and tidy!) garden, we felt really welcome by staff and a few locals. Far more than an ‘estate pub’ and well worthy of a visit!

We had a few pints early doors and sat outside, we then noticed they did curry and a pint for £8.99 with chips or rice, so we thought we'd try it and it was very nice and not out of a packet as we expected for the price would recommend👍

I’ve just moved to Mickleover and we had our first visit to this pub. Very disappointed, the real ale was poor quality and the landlord (a small dwarf like man) kept staring at us during the evening. The landlord was more drunk than the customers and we did not feel welcome. Clearly a “local pub for local people” and clearly not family orientated. This pub could potentially have been my new local but I don’t feel comfortable going back. So we have made the Masons our regular. The two pubs are very contrasting.

Place was very busy. Plenty of staff on duty and all friendly and helpful. As the designated driver I was impressed at cheap prices for soft drinks.

Sunday roast was lovely. The staff are very friendly . Couldn't ask for more.

Fantastic pub. Great atmosphere with a superb beer selection. Staff are very friendly. Update December 22: I called up with little notice to get 5 of us in for the Sunday dinner. They managed to fit us in and were extremely friendly on the phone. When we arrived, the friendly atmosphere was there with again a great beer selection. The Sunday dinner was fantastic and plenty to go at. I'd definitely recommend it and we will be back. A special mention should be made for the staff who definitely add to the experience.

Friendly pub to customers and dogs. We are not from the area, but we called in after a walk with the in-laws and will make it a regular trip for a pint and a snack when we go up to see them again.

I recently had a wake here for my mum the staff were very friendly and the food was brilliant and there was plenty of it and in my opinion very reasonably priced so thank you very much for your kind hospitality.

Me and my wife went for a meal absolutely amazing food and Beer happy and helpful staff definitely go back again

Always love coming to this pub for a cold pint with my friends. Emma and Tony always happy to look after all the customers and go the extra mile. Also does karaoke every first weekend of the month and always a good laugh with the locals

Called in this evening for dinner. We both had the pie,s mash and peas with gravy, I had steak and Stilton the wife had turkey with stuffing and we both agreed they were fantastic in every way. The Tiger bitter was also a very good drink. Thanks to Alan, April and all the staff we will be back to try the chilli

What a change of atmosphere since the new management has found its feet. My default lunch pub od choice in the Mickleover area. As a bonus nice high ceilings that feels Covid secure.

just called in for a meal and was presently surprised it was well presented and hot couldn't really pick a fault with it will be going again.

Great little pub! We went for a Saturday, the owner found us a place to sit even when it looks full. We enjoyed our evening with the entertainment which that night was some great vocals from derby school of music. The staff were great and the entertainment was first class my only pitiful would be the car park. Steep and small makes for teeth biting maneuvers. But there is plenty of room on the roads outside the pub if you like me and don't mind a minute or two walk in. Try it out! Especially on a Saturday as I'm told they always have great entertainment. We would both go back and bring family and friends.

Although I booked in advance, when we arrived and went to our table we were told only light snacks were available as kitchens were being deep cleaned so was a bit disappointed. We did manage to get chips with our baguettes and they were really nice. The baguettes seemed rather stale but the fillings were good. It was so sparse in there so no atmosphere. Not sure I will be going back again.

Beautiful sun trap of a back garden, great home made food, lovely pint of Tiger, fabulous staff, what's not to like ? If you're looking for a great local with nice customers and staff then The Honeycomb is for you.

Had been meaning to go here for a while since the new people took over. After hitting abysmal service and long waiting times at the Nag's Head we came here. Felt welcome immediately. Great choice of ales. Good little menu. Game of snooker started whilst the food was being prepared. Was very impressed with the sparkiling cleanliness of the place - brightly polished brass on the doors - a good sign. Nicely presented food and attentive team.

The honeycomb has outstanding customers service. The food is fantastic, I'd have to recommend the Sunday roast 👌 Alan and April the landlord and landlady are always willing to go the extra mile for the customers.

Beautifully decorated throughout, and garden is fabulous on these summer nights. Toilets and all bar areas are exceptionally clean. Food is delicious, and most definitely good value for money. The new owners and staff are lovely, polite and so accommodating.

As far as local pubs can go, this has to be up there. I read the reviews on here before going and was slightly concerned although they did seem to mainly refer to a previous landlord. I met some friends there last Tuesday and found the place to be clean, open and inviting. We were greeted on arrival by the bar staff who seemed nice enough. It made me think the bad reviews were for a generation passed. Tuesday night, it turns out is quiz night and the place soon filled up with locals aiming to test their general knowledge with friends over a beer. At only 50p per person, the quiz was a steal so we decidded to hang around for it and we are glad we did. Half way through the quiz, complimentary chip cobs were offered to everyone! We were not expecting that, but it was a very welcome treat ideed! To sum it up, the place is nice, the staff are friendly, the beer is good and well priced, and based on the chip cobs alone, the food is nice too. We will be going back for sure, comprende?

Normal service has now resumed here,since Tony and Emma left the two different sets of people taking over threatened to ruin it,by providing rubbish service, fortunately we now have Kate and Graham in charge,back to a great vibe, great friendly couple, good atmosphere, doggy treats as well, anyone who abandoned it, understandly, give it another go, it's worth it and help them build the business back up

Had such a great night, thank you! We booked a private space, and all the staff weee lovely and so accommodating, their buffet was great and we all had a lovely time :-)
