Seven Restaurant & Cafe Bar in Derby

My family and I came in the other day to celebrate my son’s birthday. It was an amazing meal from the food to the drinks and the service was just spectacular. Our night was served by a lovely waitress called Abigail, and she was attentive throughout the evening making sure we were all set and we were all satisfied. With the food being amazing and the service even better this night has decided where I will be taking my family out for further occasions. I’d like to thank Seven and especially Abigail for the incredible night engraved in our minds. Seven out of 7 for me. Amazing.

From start to finish we could not fault anything. The food was exceptional We had the champagne breakfast. The food was delicious and well presented. There was a lovely atmosphere about the restaurant and bar The service was amazing. Nothing was too much trouble. The young members of the waiting staff are a credit to your business and Tilly was an absolute delight. We will definitely be back and would recommend to anyone

Great birthday meal for a large birthday family group, Brogan has been really attentive and looked after the entire group. Food has been great and we couldn't have asked for more!

Excellent service from our waiter (Tom). Very attentive, to the extent of coming out to find us in the car park when one of our group had left a pair of glasses behind!

Not great. We waited 15-20 mins until someone came over to take our order. The food was ok, though my 4 year old had tomato pasta from the kids menu which was spicy??? He kept saying his tongue hurts and couldn't understand why until I tasted it and it was indeed spicy. Once we finished eating we've been waited for 40 mins for someone to take the empty plates from our table, it didn't happen. We asked for the check and someone came and left the bill on our table and left straight away, didn't even ask if we want to pay cash or card.

Went for Sunday dinner. Really bad presentation. I’m veggie and all they had to offer for the Sunday dinner was vegetarian sausage (not even soya based but vegetable based with no imagination) why for a Sunday dinner when most places offer other choices. I don’t have sausage for Sunday dinner lol. My son had kids version with out any meat or sausage and they tried to give us a cauliflower cheese saucer or not even size of saucer/coaster mat between 2 of us? My other son liked the burger but I never went for the burger myself as it was full vegan and I’m not a vegan either. Really disappointed with the food and paid a lot for it. Single mum taking kids out for dinner and then do food at home after. 🤔🙄. Nice Looking venue though and friendly staff.

Superb food and great service in a nice atmosphere. Really friendly and efficient and it made for a lovely family meal. The only minus is that we found it too dark, making it difficult to read the menus properly. Even the young ones had phone torches on. Very enjoyable though.

I had the pork neck thing, garlic fries and a creme brulee. The pork neck didn't blow me away, it had a bit of a porky taste to it at times which I usually associate with old meat, but it was ok. The fennel sausage stew below it was not bad. The fries were great and I like the creme brulee too, it was good and creamy.

Visited Thursday and the food was not great, the fish batter was like cardboard, fish had a nasty after taste, disappointing

Food was nice but not that special for the price ... staff very busy, helpful & friendly. Great atmosphere, love the general lay out and ambience, but the music a bit too loud to have any conversation with others on the table. This was an early evening booking.

We came as a group of 14 on Friday to celebrate my nephews 18th. Although you was busy the service was still good and the food was nice.

As always great quality food and service. We eat here regularly before football matches and never feel let down or short changed. The service from Leo yesterday was exemplary. He was polite, considerate throughout and could not do enough to make us feel welcome and looked after. He is a real asset to Severn. Thank you Leo

10/10. Leo was a great host and went above and beyond to make sure my dinning experience was the best it could be. I have been coming here for 2 weeks everyday, due to working away from home and I can say it is up there with the best restaurants in London & Essex at half the price!! You have to go!!

Had champagne breakfast which was bought as a gift, the breakfast was excellent, the food first class, and most of all the staff were very friendly and welcoming with excellent service. We'll certainly be back, and would thouroughly recommend.

We booked in for a Mother’s Day breakfast this morning, and it was perfect! The food, the atmosphere, and the staff were all amazing. Huge thanks to Brogan for looking after our table—nothing was too much trouble, and he made sure our breakfast felt extra special. Can’t wait to come back!

First visit on a busy Saturday night. We were shown to our table straight away and our drinks order was taken and delivered promptly. We both chose the Thai fishcakes and they were really tasty. I went for the smoked Haddock for the main and it was delicious. Will definitely be going there again!

Patricia has looked after us twice and she literally makes it a 5 star experience. Food is delicious and fresh. Such a nice ambiance. Great for daytime and evening dates also done work by the bar area before. Conservatory is also a cool addition.

The first visit on a Sunday . I had the roast beef dinner. The beef was so small when it arrived. I thought it was bacon rashers . Quite expensive for what we actually got .

Taken to our table by a lovely young gentleman who was polite and friendly. Served by Tilly who was so helpful, genuinely friendly and lovely. Such a pleasure and absolute asset to Seven.

Wow! What a great find during a stay in Derby. Dinner was fabulous, an explosion of delightful flavours. Thai fish cakes, duck spring rolls to share then the most succulent beef just melting into the sauce. Most lovely waiting staff So good had to come back for breakfast!

Our table of 6 enjoyed our lunch. The food was delicious and the ambience and service was excellent. We were not rushed in any way and will definitely book again.

I'm a gluten-free eater, & to my delight they had a separate menu ! We were there with friends for lunch, we all enjoyed our food, the service was excellent too, the staff were really attentive, would definitely go again.

Staff very attentive Security staff friendly & helpful Disabled access & toilets Reasonably priced Waiting time to get food is about 20-25mins. Waiting time between each course 15-20mins Candle lights at about 4.30pm on each table.

Loved our meal at Seven, the food was delicious and huge portions. Also the espresso martinis were fab! Loved the decor and the service, especially from Gabi who made sure my mother in law had a lovely birthday. Will definitely go back.

Never have I ever spent two hours in a restaurant before food arriving, spending a total of three hours itself in the restaurant! “We have quite a lot of parties in tonight, a table of 40 upstairs, a 40 downstairs, your table of 11… (proceeds to list more numbers)” - NOT OUR PROBLEM! “We don’t have a massive kitchen…” - again, not our problem! Why didn’t you communicate with us when we walked in that the delay was going to be in excess of 2 hours JUST for a starter to arrive? Oh and it wasn’t like you had a preorder of our food at least two weeks in advance… not that it made any difference when a walk in gets their food faster than our table… We then also ended up with one of the staff trying to hug our family member whose birthday we was celebrating, telling her ‘calm down you’ll enjoy the food’!… Patronising git! Fortunately my family member has the patience of a saint - but even then we was all debating walking out. When the food arrived it was mediocre - wasn’t worth a 2 hour wait for it! Safe to say I’ll be happily taking my business elsewhere in future. Absolutely shocking.

I've visited Seven many times over the past few years, however today will be my last. After having to wait to be served for ages (waiter seemed more interested in arranging balloons) my meal - a braised beef dish I'd had three times previously was awful. It was literally a piece of fat! I was given 20% off the meal on the bill which was a small amount considering just how bad the meat was. It would seem that food quality isn't as high on the priorities as it was previously which is a shame. Very disappointing.

This was one of the most wonderful times eating out. My friend and my son had such a great time. Everything was spot on: the service, the atmosphere, the food and the drink. Jacob is so warm and friendly, Brogan is so kind and caring and another wait staff, who I didn’t catch their name, made everything appear with ease. It felt like how things used to be at restaurants when people make you feel great. The restaurant has made absolute great hires with these individuals who are all so professional and who care about your hospitality experience. Just wow and thank you.

What a lovely place. We met for our friends birthday breakfast meet up. It was a real success. Lovely food. Good service and they accomodated me with my large powerchair really well. Lots of pre arrangement emails to make it easy for me to get in. Only issue was finding a parking space at 10.15am as so many tables were full of others celebrating birthdays. Lots of fellow celebrations. My friend loved her birthday firework candle too.

First time I’ve ever been and it was wonderful! The grilled halloumi risotto was amazing! Portion sizes and prices are so great! Shout out to Dave for being so funny and friendly and also to Fran for her wonderful service throughout the whole night whilst managing the whole place! 10/10 would highly recommend 👍🏼👍🏼

We had my daughter in law and sons baby gender reveal on sunday here - wow!!! What can i say??? From start to finish it was a magical experience!!!! Their was 16 of us! The staff went above and beyond!! Our meals came out all at the same time and piping hot!! They kept checking on us all to make sure we had everything we needed. I think his name was Paplo ( he was french) - what an assist to the business. A huge thank you to the managed too . She was fantastic from the moment we walked in . A very special place for a special occasion. Thank you .

Superb food served by a team of attentive and professional staff. Annabella along with other staff on duty looked after us beautifully, checking that everything was good. All courses delicious. Good sized portions. Couldn’t fault anything at all. Excellent value for money. Will definitely return when we are in the area. Steak and smoked haddock main courses particularly good.

I booked last minute for mine and my partners 10 year anniversary. It was between here and another restaurant. Upon calling up to book I let the person know who took the booking know it was our anniversary and asked if they could do an anniversary slate, which they responded they would be able to do something for my partner which i would've paid for. At the end of the meal nothing was brought out. Starters were really nice , however there was a slight issue with one of the mains. If the main would have been in some way discounted not fully discounted but something knocked off I would've left a tip. I rang up two weeks ago to speak with the manager about the issue before writing a review. He took my email and said if he doesn't call me back with 30 minutes he would email me but I have received no call or email which is unprofessional.

Ventured here whilst visiting my sister and her husband. Both myself and my husband were amazed at the quality and presentation of the food here. We felt it was definatley value for money. Service was fabulous. Would highly recommend a visit here should you be in Derby.

Came for a spot of breakfast after a busy morning shopping.Close to the station which is amazing 🤩 Did not have a booking however this did not stop us being served. And we was NOT turned away even though the car park was full and never mind the inside of the restaurant. I had an eggs Benedict and my husband had the full english. Which has lots of options from toast to eggs. Which is great you actually get to choose and they both tasted incredible. We were both served by a young lady call Patricia and a young chap called Brogan they were both absolutely wonderful just like the coffee art which i never normally notice! Even had a conversation with us about what we were doing for the rest of the day. Nothing was to much for them even though you could see they were busy. We will be back.

We went for a champagne breakfast for my daughters 21st birthday, food was ok but service was terrible. I thought it would be a nice special occasion but how wrong was I. Four of us sat down and the waitress who don’t get me wrong was lovely straight away said ‘there is a wait on hot drinks’ 🤷‍♀️ we was then serve our first course and Prosecco it was fine, then we got our second course and not long after our main course but there we sat with all the dirty plates, champagne glasses water glasses cups, saucers and even the jams were still on the table, I then asked for a second hot drink and when it arrived there was literally no where to put it as the small table was full !!! The waiter past it me in my hand for me to take off him but still nobody even attempted to clean or even part clean the table. After another 15 mins my husband then went up to the bar to pay our £111.00 bill and it was then a waitress said we will bring a birthday candle but it was to late we was leaving :((( . Honestly got better service at a weatherspoons. Really disappointing :(( I’ve been to Seven a few times for breakfast but never again :((

The staff seemed hurried but were always friendly. Clean place with an excellent choice of drinks. The food was very good.

We arrived this evening with a large group of 12 of us and they kindly rearranged tables to fit us in. Lovely buzzing atmosphere and perfect for our group of hungry girls and parents with a varied menu to accommodate us all. Lovely touch of 'good luck' brownies for the girls who are competing in a hockey event tomorrow!

Paid £80 for a poor meal. Starters were ok.. main course.. both ordered steak with extra onion rings.. food came out with just steak a small salad on a plate and bowls of onion rings.. where was the rest of the dinner? We asked and the manager informed us that the waitress thought we wanted onion rings INSTEAD of anything else... who on earth does that?! Waited with a meagre steak on the table that was overly smothered in garlic butter to receive a bowl of chips between us. The onion rings.. both portions we had to send back as they were too greasy to eat We then ordered pudding.. the ice cream was extra to the cheesecake. I asked for cheesecake and ice cream, to which the manager replied "oh is that extra or instead of the Berry compote"- referring to the onion ring incident. I'm sorry but I was really polite; there's no need to get sarcastic or funny about ruining our dinner... We were only refunded £5- the initial fee for the onion rings which were also somehow put through as halloumi fries. I expected great things of this place, only to be £80 down and thoroughly disappointed with the evening. For anyone reading reviews this was on 02 Jan 2025 Also the restaurant was so cold if it wasn't for having manners, I'd have kept my coat on. Also had to ask for table water to be brought to the table. It wasn't offered. Poor service, poor attitude Sorry Seven, thoroughly disappointed

First visit to Seven, but was recommended by someone for our works Christmas Meal. From the moment we stepped through the door the staff were attentive and friendly. We had pre-ordered food and everything came out correctly, swiftly, and was amazing!!! The restaurant was extremely busy but their amazing staff were on point consistently throughout the evening. I can hand on heart say this was not only the best Christmas meal I've had from a service perspective, but also from quality, nothing tasted mass produced as it often does at this time of year and as the organiser of our event I was expecting something to go wrong as it always does (at Christmas) well not here!!!. Well done to everyone at Seven and Happy Christmas!!!

My first visit to Seven, a family pre Christmas meal, food ok,my starter squid rings had long synu left in couple of pieces, main course well cooked and tasty however it looked like it was pre prepared and kept warm. Service was ok but one member of staff made a few genda related comments which was awkward as we were out with my sons new girlfriends parents. The overall experience was ok and my comments relate to the restaurants rating.

Great food and drink every time I’ve been. Next level stuff. Had one issue of food having been overcooked but this was some time ago and quickly resolved. Was pleasantly surprised on my way to a football match to see home fans being accommodated for food and drinks at the bar before the game, in such a way as to not inconvenience other diners. Just a classy place all round.

Went to celebrate my 40th birthday and wow! Absolutely fantastic service, the setting is beautiful great chill calm atmosphere, the food was amazing every person in my party enjoyed there meals. First time dining here but it won't be my last fantastic evening at Seven.

We had the rump steak asked for it medium rare it was cooked to perfection

This is the 2nd time I have visited. On arrival we were asked if we had a table booking which we didn't but they found us a table 😁 before we even sat down we were asked what we would like to drink. Please at least let us look what drinks you do. We ordered tea and a coffee. We chose our food. They brought out our drinks to which I noticed my cup was dirty. The waiter happily changed it. I then poured my tea out of the tea pot to find it wasn't hot so asked for a hot tea. Again they brought me a fresh tea. Again it was cold so changed my drink altogether. The tea and my new hot drink were taken off the bill. Now the food on the other hand was simply amazing well presented and tasted as good as it looked. When I asked for the bill I asked if they take cash which the waiter replied yes we do. My bill was £23 I gave £30 as I did have the correct amount of money. The waiter then asked me if I would like my change before returning with it 🙈😱 which my reply was yes. You can not expect a tip for 3 complaints or even be so cheeky to ask

6 of us dined at Seven on Boxing day - it was fantastic. I have been here several times and it's always a great experience. The greeting, the service, the food and drinks - it's just the perfect package. It's also great to see some home made dishes like the spring rolls - my favourite starter. The service in the bar is great, we always enjoy a few drinks before sitting down. Given me a couple of weeks, and we'll be back :-)

Had a works Christmas meal last night, it was perfect. Service was great. Food was really nice. Really lovely staff, nothing too much trouble for them despite it being busy. Would definitely recommend. Not overly priced either

A huge thank you to Gabbie our host for my baby shower on the 7th of December. She made the experience so stress free and everything ran incredibly smoothly. She met and exceeded all of our requests and payed attention to the fine detail. Her efforts were above and beyond! Thank you to both Gabbie and manager Zoe for dealing with ALL of our queries pre, post and during my party. These ladies really helped in putting every detail together and ensured everything was done to perfection and exactly how I had asked. Fantastic service from start to finish! The food, drinks and atmosphere were also 10/10. Would highly recommend to anyone to book an event with Seven. Thank you for making my day so enjoyable/memorable! Looking forward to returning again in future.

Really great host who greeted us, very good sense of humour then took us to our table. Waiting staff were good. Food was great very tasty. When we went it's was very busy so not much parking so I'd recommend if you can sharing a vehicle during busy periods especially around Christmas.

Would have loved to of left a 5 star review but sadly cannot. Booking made for 11am for a champagne breakfast, arrived 10 minutes earlier yet car park was full to capacity. Called to say we had a booking yet could not park and was told use the pay & display nearby.!! Where nearby? Very rude & abrupt attitude so we never made our reservation as why should we have to use a pay & display nearby….

From first being in touch to arrange a larger booking, communication was great. Helped us greatly with our requirements and the table was perfect, just what we needed. Slight hick up with the pre order, but soon resolved. Food delicious, staff friendly and our waitress was so lovely and helpful. Thank you, we will be back.

I had a nice meal at Seven. I thought that the main menu was very good. I was torn between options. I ended up going for two appetisers (olives and pork belly bites), a starter (squid) and a steak for my main course. The portions were slightly on the smaller side but I still had a decent dinner. The squid was cooked pretty well. I asked for the steak well done and it came out pretty much how I expected it to be. It was nice to have the sauce included with the steak, as some places try and make you pay extra for the sauce. I thought the sauce itself was good. The chips were chunky and decent. I thought the atmosphere was quite chill. The staff were good humoured and attentive. The only issue with the service was that the waitress took my starter cutlery away after I had had my appetisers, even though I hadn’t used this yet as I had been given cocktail sticks to eat my appetisers with. I was a little unimpressed with the dessert menu. There seemed to be quite a few options for alcoholic coffees and for “dessert cocktails”. However, I wasn’t very impressed with the range of food options for dessert. This is a minor gripe really as the main menu was good and I enjoyed everything that I ordered off this.

Last night I had a meal at seven restaurant booked for 16.45. Despite the weather we were on time and were informed we had to order our food before 5pm as the kitchens closed at the time. This is not on the website. Our drinks order was taken then our food order. The starters and main courses were brought very swiftly. This surprised me as on previous visits service as been slow. We decided we didn't want any pudding but asked if we could order another drink. All this was under an hour of our arrival. The young waitress asked another waiter if we could have more drinks and we were told no despite being asked if we wanted anything else. It was clear they didn't want us to stay even with over an hour until the restaurant closed. The general attitude of the staff was very unfriendly and no member of staff said goodnight as we left. I for one shall not be returning

Went here for our pre wedding family meal there was 12 in the party . We were seated in the terrace and what a lovely space it is ,cosy, lovely lighting, and comfortable seating. Really sorry but can't remember the name of the young person that served us ...but he was absolutely the best ,he had the wright amount of banter not too cheeky, very attentive, was totally on the ball ...even asking if we wanted the children's food to come out earlier..brilliant. Engaged with us all finding out about are wedding the next day . Now the food was as always top quality ,lovely presented, hot and good size. We had wine ,fizz,and cocktails exallent as well . It's always good to find a restaurant that is constantly exallent across all food services we have had breakfast, lunch,dinner and found them all exallent.

The 4 of us in for Monday lunch. Very popular. Lovely menu choices. Huge fish with chips. Salmon cooked well, pork medallions also, I was told. My smoked haddock choice was so tasty. My wife and I shared a (large) sticky toffee pudding. All food and drink at a good price and friendly service. Looking forward to returning.

An ideal place for a celebratory meal or just getting together with friends and family. The menu choices are great and our waitress went the mile to make our meal memorable. For veggies I can recommend both the curry and halloumi.

Amazing service from the start!! Not sure on the ladies name but she was the manager she went above and beyond to get us a parking space when we arrived as one of our party members struggles to walk and there was no spaces! The food arrived quickly and was absolutely fantastic! Anabelle our waitress was incredible! Polite, attentive, friendly and just amazing at her job!!!! She made our evening! Thank you! We came here for a birthday off a recommendation and you surpassed all of our expectations. The food was out of this world, the restaurant was an amazing vibe and Annabelle gave excellent service from start to finish. I do like this restaurant and I have had some excellent meals here however my last couple of visits haven't been great. The service this time wasn't great, although the bar staff were great and not included in this, when eating I had to actively ask for everything which felt more like a disruption rather than a service and my order was wrong so my food was cold by the time the order was corrected and paying £21 for two 250ml wines seemed excessive... It's a shame as I bought a client with me who was looking at the restaurant as a venue for daytime events Hope it goes back to how it used to be re service and food
