Good tasty food, main meals & desserts. Cocktails were great too! Cosy quiet environment, pleasant & friendly staff. Enjoyable evening..no complaints at all.

Yet again another thrilling experience at the bistro, had a Steak Diane and it was cooked to perfection my peers enjoyed some tasty pasta. Great atmosphere at the restaurant last night, with shoutouts to amazing service provided by front of house staff. Would definitely recommend!!

We keep choosing this restaurant because of the good staff who can’t do enough for us and the home cooked food is always delicious. We decided on the roast again because the meat there is beautiful every time and my dad had their trio kebabI think it was called. There was so much food! Their Yorkshire puddings are home made and the deserts are home made and we all had the cheesecakes. We went to this before it was owned by the current management and it was never as good as it is now so we thoroughly recommend. The manager works so hard for his business and we really respect how much he puts into his restaurant. We are going for Christmas dinner too.

I’ve eaten the kebabs here now I’ve had two roast dinners. Cooked to perfection. Cant recommend this place enough. It’s our family’s new favourite place to eat out.

This was our third visit and again the food was excellent, good portion size and full of flavour. Staff were all polite and friendly. Good range of specials available. Cocktails were great too! Going to try for a Sunday Lunch too as I hear that is very good.

We arrived at 21:30 on a saturday. The place was empty we were the only ones there so that was good I guess as it took roughly 30/40mins to receive our mains can imagine how long the serving takes when the place is full. The food was not bad. But it was not good either. Medium rare steaks had spots ranging from well done to rare. The stilton sauce was nice with steak. The carbonara was inedible and went back to kitchen pretty much untouched. The loaded dirty fries had no flavour. Well overall disappointing first and last visit.

Clean your desert fridge before making up lies in your replies to honest review. And Maybe keep your toilet doors closed so your visitors dont have to explore for themselves if its a ladies or gents room, door was never closed you would know I used it to just wash my hands. And if you tryna have a laugh at that then you just showing what kinda simple minded and stuck up thinking you have. Im glad you understood the foreign language comments me and my friends made about the place and food, if you are so set to making sure your customers have good experience why didnt you come and speak about the comments then? Cause you dont care you made your £90 in the hour we spent there. You are lucky we even paid for our ''dining experience'', kitchen nightmare level food establishment with a delusional owner that thinks the place and food must be perfect, and only has madeup snarky comments to make at his customers in reviews section. Just close the place down you clearly have no interest in providing a good dining experience. When I saw you in the kitchen I could tell you had a passion for making food and at this point you have burned out and just keeping it afloat and running just because.. if you cant take criticism without responding with madeup comment and acting as if its not like that then youre in the wrong business. Place has no soul or good food, only thing nice was the sauce that came with the steak and the garlic bread ill give u that. The only reason we gave you more stars on previous reviews is because we didnt want to be too harsh because you were nice to the girl in our party, that was the only reason you got any stars. But heres the real deal. Also grape and grapefruit juice are from different fruits as a food establishment you should know the difference.

Very poor experience tonight. We had brought family from 35 miles away and were disappointed with our choice of restaurant. Ordered starter and at least 5 mins later told no pate. Ordered desserts and at least 5 mins later told no triffle. The staff should know what is available. We had to have the menus back twice and ended up ordering what we didn't really want to be polite to our guests. It turned out to be an expensive meal of things we didn't really want. How much were the 3 scoops of ice cream? The waitress apologised but seemed annoyed with us for being displeased. The worst part was no attempt to put it right. We were not even offered free diet cokes or complimentary and coffee. It is the gesture that is important in these circumstances. I would not have posted this negative review if there had been some effort by the Clock to take responsibility for the poor experience. They just didn't care about us.

The cyprus dirty fries were burnt and pretty bland tbh, but it was made up with the aqua pazza which was very nice, so thats why ive gave you a 3 star

Great steak , extremely tasty and tender in fact a Great plate of food. Great service and atmosphere x very good wine list Will definitely be going again.

Terrible. Cobs webs hanging from wall fixings. Floor needs a good scrub. Food is all microwaved. Service very rushed. Starters and mains all done and dusted in 40 mins flat. Far too many lovely places to choose from to pay those prices for microwaved food. Such a shame, it was such a lovely little place with great food and thriving when it was under different owners a few years ago, had to book well in advance to get a table. Now it’s very quiet and no atmosphere, I’m not suprised. It’s not cheap to eat out now a days, I’d advise spending your money elsewhere that has a chef, not a microwave user!!

Sad little place. We met our son and partner there this evening. First, and last visit. We were the only people there, and for good reason. Young waiter, still in school, had to deal with a sub standard bistro. The mussel starter was awful, full of broken shells and the world's smallest mussels, accompanied by stale french bread slices. The mixed grill was awful,with greasy chips on the side. The waiter was trying as hard as he could, but this is definately one place to avoid at all costs.Zero atmosphere.

Sadly, a disappointment. My partner had been before and had a great time. I have to say the staff were lovely. Got there at 8 on Friday evening and besides 1 table it was empty which was a surprise for that time. Asked for drinks and there was no Pinot Grigio. 2 of us asked for scallops and 5 mins later we were told there weren't any. Also took a long time to get the food to the table, which was odd as there were just the 4 of us in. Having seen all of the positive reviews hopefully, it was a blip.

Visited here with my husband and auntie as a treat for their birthdays. What a great little place thd food was amazing. I had mussels and chicken kebab my husband had brie parcels and curry and my aunt had brie and Chicken pasta all of the dishes were delicious could not fault it at all. Also great value for money compared to restaurant's in the city centre. They also had desserts which were equally lovely. For all this and drinks it was only 35 pound a head absolutely brilliant value.I will definitely be recommending and will return soon as there was lot's on the menu I wanted to try. The staff were really nice too.

Had a wonderful Sunday roast this evening. Beautiful roast beef with Yorkshire pudding and perfect vegetables. All freshly cooked and lots of it! The restaurant was quiet so we had a very peaceful evening. This is our second visit and we have enjoyed both times. Edit...another fabulous Sunday Roast this weekend. Everything perfectly cooked. Managed a dessert this time - Millionaires waffle - lovely but couldn't eat anything else till the next day!!! Clock Bistro gets my vote every time for a good meal and all round great experience.

Had a lovely meal tonight to celebrate my 50th birthday with family, foods so incredible, hot,fresh and generous portions size. Very reasonable priced would highly recommend. Food came out quickly for saying there was a large party . Staff very polite and friendly .

Excellent service from the young man who seemed to be front-of-house, maitre'd, sommelier, and waiter. Fabulous food, my Creamy Stilton Garlic Mushrooms were wonderful and the Porco Diablo was amazing. The only negative (and it's a small one) was the lack of atmosphere - we were the only customers.

christmas day very expensive, the food was just piled on the plate and swimming with gravy, we were the last ones in and felt as though everything was just chucked on our plates, couldn’t even see what was on it as most was buried, really slow service 1 hour between courses, me and mum ordered sherry trifle, jelly fruit custard and squirty cream, no sherry, what a shambles, unfortunately we had paid for the meal before hand, but was given a drink bill for £110🙄😂 we queried it and was £20, no apologies, no nothing, don’t recommend, a waste of £350 😞

Had a meal at the Clock Bistro yesterday. What an absolute gem. Great food with lots of choice, lovely atmosphere and fantastic service. Already booked to go again.

We Both had the Rack of ribs. The meal was well cooked and nicely presented, My guest enjoyed the meal and the politeness of the staff. I look forward to enjoying that meal again.

After nursing 2 broken wrists, I was looking online for Sunday lunch deliveries and came across the clock bistro, I rang up and asked for specifically what I wanted, me not being a big veg eater 1 for myself and 1 for my dad, we had 1 pork and 1 beef dinner and they both came well presented and hot. There was plenty of gravy, and we both enjoyed our dinners. Followed by sherry trifle and a salted caramel pudding, which was beautiful. I would definitely use this service again, can't wait to actually visit the restaurant to see what else Is on offer. Thanks Clock bistro.

Always have a great time at this gem of a restaurant in our village ..Went as a group booking for a birthday celebration and considering a small kitchen the chefs managed as always to deliver an amazing meal.. Looking forward to our next visit.

Yet again another perfect experience at the clock. Me and my wife tried some new starters this time and were lovely, mains came out at a good time, tasted delicious with generous portion size. Atmosphere was lovely with everyone in the christmas spirit. Staff were attentive with special mention to a brunette waitress (I think i remembered was named Lacy when i asked), knew what she was doing and held friendly conversation. Will 100% be coming again. This is without a doubt 5/5. We came today for Christmas dinner. Been to many restaurants for Christmas dinner…this was outstanding. Starters mains cooked to perfection…couldn’t fault anything. The staff were so friendly and helpful and found it all so relaxing and no rush…..that impressed are going to book for next year with more of the family. Thank you Clock Bistro for helping to make us have such a memorable Christmas Day

What a great night! 9 of us booked for a Xmas get together, we pre ordered the week before, the booking communication was great, and our table was ready for us on time The restaurant was festive and cosy, the staff were attentive, helpful and speedy We all had starters including the garlic mushrooms which were delicious, the creamy sauce was incredible All of our main courses were well presented, flavoursome and generous A few of us had dessert but most of us were full to the brim! Cocktails were good, parking was right outside, and the bill was good value for the amount we ate Highly recommend this lovely place

One of the best restaurants in Spondon! My mum and I visit most Fridays and the food is exceptional, Andy the owner is so friendly and approachable and I will always come back. You must give it a try, such a warm, friendly welcoming place

Beautifully cooked food in a calm and friendly atmosphere. Ideal for couples or small parties. All staff were helpful, and professional. The chef clearly takes immense pride in their work as the food was perfectly cooked and presented. I look forward to visiting again.

Friday 20th October . Wonderful meal &cocktails with two girlfriends food , service and drinks fantastic made to feel very welcome , last ones in the place didn’t want to leave .

Clock Bistro catered to a party of 34 for a Birthday Meal. The service was excellent and food was top notch. They worked with me beforehand and on the day to ensure the meal and celebration went smoothly. I can't compliment the management, chefs and serving staff enough.

My wife and I have just had the most delicious delivered Sunday roast dinner. Both the beef and pork were really tasty! Beautifully cooked! Thank you! Malcolm Thomas

We were having a few days holiday at home and decided to try The Clock Bistro as it is 5 mins from our house. We were not disappointed. Decor and lighting were interesting and well done with frescoes on walls and ceiling. To our delight the menu was printed in huge font so we could actually read it!!! We were served promptly and the food was freshly cooked and piping hot. The loaded nachos were wonderful with a thick cheesy sauce and guacamole and salsa. Main dishes were beautifully cooked - chicken was juicy and tender and steak was perfection. Loved the basket of sprays and creams in ladies toilets. We will certainly go again

Great food. When delivered maybe put those lovely Yorkshire puds in a separate bag to keep them crispy but otherwise lovely Sunday roast.

Sorry to say that one of our favourite restaurants has down down hill since our last visit. I am now aware that it has changed owners and unfortunately standards aren't as good. Arrived as booking at 7pm with my husband, son and daughter in law by a very lovely waitress who confessed she knew nothing as it was her first day. No problem with that as she tried to be as helpful as she could. Ordered drinks, Beers were fine and the cocktail but the orange juice tasted like it had been watered down. Ordered main courses with the view to have desserts and waited over 30 minutes to arrive, no problem with that as we were in no rush and my view is that the longer it takes then its probably cooked from fresh. My daughter in law wanted the Paella but didnt want the seafood and asked for a Chicken and Chorizo paella if this was possible. The waitress went away and said that was fine. My husband and sons food came and they really enjoyed it with no problem although did state it was the best they had there. I ordered Steak medium and it came out just as ordered but was very fatty and tough and the sauce on top was very strange tasting which should have been Diane sauce. I didn't complain just blamed myself for ordering steak as i don't normally order steak. Chips were bad, dry hard but the salad was ok. When my daughter in laws Paella came out it had Mussels stuck to the top of it which i aid im sorry but she really cant eat this she asked for Chicken and Chorizo to which the waitress agreed she did in fact order as requested. Food taken away and returned in 5 minutes with just the mussels taken off which was quite clear and was a little off putting to someone who doesn't eat seafood, she did however try and proceed to eat it only to have a fist mouthful which was mussel shell and what seemed to be gritty sand. Called the waitress again who apologised and took the food away and another wait of 25 minutes or so and a very beautiful Chicken and chorizo paella arrived which my daughter in law said was beautiful, so we got there in the end. I might add there was only another 2 couples in the restaurant at the time but maybe they were taking online orders. Sadly by this time it was getting late and we just didnt feel like ordering desserts ad wasnt convinced they would be worthwhile. A sad visit to what was once a very lovely restaurant. Nowadays with the cost of living you want to go out to eat and be sure they are giving you the best they can do but this really didnt happen. I might also add my husband visited the mens room and said that that really needed a little clean and he never usually mentions or bothers about such things. I make this review not really to deter people to go as my hubby and sons food and eventually my daughter in laws food was good but just to highlight to the owners that they need to be aware. Sadly its our last visit

We travelled from Chesterfield with friends as we enjoy going further afield at times for a nice meal so after reading the reviews and checking the website we decided on The Clock Bistro. What a great decision! The place is a great find and deserves to be further up the rankings. We all passed on a starter and went for the mains hoping to have room for a sweet, well that failed, we had more than enough to eat especially as we order a side of Mexican dirty fries, delicious, so unfortunately we never got to the deserts, maybe next time. The Bistro is clean, tidy and well presented, the service was excellent and so was the food, it was faultless. All four of us have no doubt in recommending this great Bistro and it will not be our last visit, it made the trip worth it.

Dreadful experience, we were clearly food poisoned, we spent the rest of our night vomiting, and went hospital afterwards, even when we called them back to explain that we all had the same symptoms not just one of us Andy was very rude responding to our complain! He acted like he is the god of food! Absolutely disgusting!

Second visit in a month and going back next week too. Great food reasonably priced and brilliant service. The ambiance is lovely, desserts to die for but the best thing about this place is the people, they just can’t do enough to make sure you are well looked after.

where do i start. from the moment we walked in the floor was greasy and you were sliding all over the place, let alone when you sat down the chair slid away from the tables. the desert table glass was filthy. the menus had like a film on which was again greasy. food took over an hour to arrive yet only one other table in after us. the food was was terrible. the lamb kebab was not lamb and tasted like dried up stuffing in breadcrumbs! the bread for the kebab was cold and rock hard! the paella was pointless and tasted very salty and the muscles which were very few had not been cleaned properly. and we're overcooked and they had shriveled up . 2 prawns and there was no veg or anything in it. the carbonara sauce was all congealed and the egg sauce had split. this again tasted like pure salt and looked a mess. the bolognaise wasn't too bad but the wine obviously had not been cooked out. As a trained chef with experience, it was not up to the standard that would of been expect for this type of dining. it was also very expensive, very overpriced and the staff not once had a smile on their face, most of them stood around doing nothing apart from chatting in the corner. we would not recommend this and won't be returning.

Worried after seeing some of the poor reviews but found there was nothing at all to be worried about. We were greeted by a lovely young lady who then waited on us and was very helpful and attentive. Other waiters periodically checked we had everything we wanted and that all was ok which it was. Our food was really lovely and the portion sizes were overly generous so we simply couldn't eat it all even though we tried very hard to. The waiting time was ever so slightly longer than some places but I think that was because the food was cooked to order and not simply microwaved. All in all I found this eatery to be lovely and will not hesitate to return. I don't think you can please all of the people all of the time but judging by the amount of people there and given it is a small village bistro I would say that they get it right far more than wrong otherwise they wouldn't have been so busy. Give them a try I think they're definitely worth it.

Food : not great. Lacking flavour, rice like mush. Presentation, plonked on a plate. Service : staff not really bothered. Mumble and walk away. Don't seem to care. Atmosphere: Vanilla. Our visit was very disappointing. We have been previously and had a nice meal.

Came up from London and looking for a place to take my Partner. Saw previous reviews and booked. We were not disappointed. Food and service was excellent. Staff attentive but not over the top. Spoke with Owner and had a chat to say Thank you. Partner had Garlic Mushrooms and Steak Diane, I had the Antipasta and Mixed Grill.

The worst restaurant I have visited in year's, table was booked for 19.50,starters came at 9 and mains at 10.15. The food was shockingly bad, sizzling prawns with garlic and chilli was like prawns boiled in brine with a couple of slices of chilli,I don't understand how a kitchen can serve that thinking it's OK, it was bland and in a bowl of something I can't explain like a watery oily broth it was disgusting. I had the mussels as a main and they we're in a sauce that was not edible, it had a wierd taste like something was off, the bowls had dried food underneath. There was 8 of us and other's had been a few times this was my second visit and we all said never again, a waste of £318. Your asked on paying if it was OK but I was embarrassed for the girl serving and couldn't bring myself to go through the amount of issues we had. Steer clear and spend money elsewhere is my advice.

I have now been to this restaurant several times and all have been excellent.I had a lovely pasta dish and my wife had a steak Diane, both were delicious. Service was also great, very welcoming staff and friendly atmosphere. Will definitely be coming again soon.

What a filthy place, even though the owner thinks it’s acceptable. Dried food on the table, dirty water jug and only 4 people in the restaurant, but we were sat next to the wax stained dirty bar. No wine as fridge broke!! Poor facilities as...

No idea how this place has just received an award. Went in for Sunday Lunch, was served by teenagers who didn't seem to have any training and didn't have good communication skills. The food was piping hot but the carrots tasted like mud, the brocolli was yellow, the peas were over done. The mash was lovely but I found paper in mine, it looked like the silver paper from a cigarette packet. I reported this to the teenage staff but he had no idea what to do and there was no apology. I will say that the Roast potato's were nice. My other half had steak Diane, the steak was overcooked and wafer thin, the Diane sauce was bright yellow and just tasted of stone mustard. The place was so empty. Never going back and would not recommend anyone to try it.

Booked a table for 4 people, the place was almost empty. The server took our drinks order but sent someone else over with them who didn't know which drinks were which. Then the farce of food began, placed our order asking what came with each meal and ordered sides. One meal came out half missing the dirty fries were not the ones we ordered and my meal was supposed to have tagliatelle but instead came with spaghetti. It took about 40 minutes for this to arrive and didn't see if we wanted any other drinks. We told our server all this said she would ask the kitchen but never gave any further update on why our meals were completely wrong. It seemed both servers on front didn't have a clue what they serving we won't be giving this place another chance. Should actually be zero stars, it used to be a good place to eat but I think the empty restaurant speaks volumes if this is the usual experience.

We had a great night, we were at the clock Bistro on 20th may for my retirement, and a friends birthday. All the staff made us vary welcome we had a selection of starters and main course all the food was excellent ( especially my trio of cabbabs) a great menu at a competitive price, this is a great place, cannot wait to go back.

First time eating in the restaurant last night but have ordered their desserts on Just Eat a few times before. There service is always wonderful with Just Eat and was just the same when we went in to eat. Very polite and helpful. The meals are gorgeous and they are large so I got to take half mine home! When we finally sat down and ordered our food, it took an hour to arrive and by then was cold!! Our cutlery was dirty and the floor and chairs covered in food. I will never be coming back and will be warning others not to go!!

Came in a couple of weeks ago and it’s sad to say but we ordered food, waited quite a while for it to come as there was only one member of staff out front. Then when it did come, it was quite cold and definitely didn’t taste as I thought it would. Also thought it was a bit unclean inside. A disappointing visit to say the least

Had a lovely meal here and was delighted with the handsome brunette waiter that served my food. Didn’t quit catch his name but made my experience even better. Would recommend to anyone if looking to go on a romantic date.

came in for a sunday dinner, was absolutely beautiful, service was excellent. went to the bar for a drink, will be back

Went for a family party all the food was served at the same time it was hot & absolutely gorgeous, great service, great atmosphere, great evening definitely recommend & definitely be visiting again 👍👍

Came here as a walk in as wasn’t planning to go here. Was pleasantly surprised! The staff was lovely and attentive. Service was quick, wasn’t very busy in there lots of empty tables. Really like the decor but was quite cold inside. The garlic Stilton mushrooms to start was delicious but there was so many mushrooms! Bruschetta was really tasty. Then for the mains I had the steak dianne which was cooked to perfection but again way to many mushrooms and onions on top. My partner had the Pompeii pizza which was lovely. New York dirty fries was great. We couldn’t finish it all so they let us take some away. Good menu, lots to chose from. Would eat here again!

Lovely food, we just ordered way to much, mushroom starter was fabulous then o to main, lovely too 😋 drinks priced reasonably. Such a delightful venue, booked on recommendations. Never knew it existed definitely call again but have to book a reservation if more people x

Went to the Clock Bistro for the Sunday roast. The service was polite and efficient. The meal was of generous portions. It was that nice I had the desert as well. It is good for solo and group dining.

As soon as you walk in the door they ask you what would you like to drink before your even seated. Had to ask for menu as we sat for ages waiting for menu's. Eventually we ordered food it took ages to come. I'm sorry to say I will never use this place again.

Truly enjoyed our experience at the Clock Bistro. We were visiting Spondon on business and after working late on Saturday night we decided to try the village restaurant, we hadn’t booked and walked in at 9pm on Saturday night, the place was packed and no...
