Excellent and seemingly authentic French. Best dauphinoise I can remember after a dodgy looking but really nice baked Camembert. Bougignon was very good though bavette was a bit on the tough side. Noted it would. Ll have been better served on hot plates….personal preference

Isabel's is a wonderful restaurant and one of our absolute favourites. The staff are attentive but not intrusive. They are knowledgeable and friendly. The ambience is relaxed, intimate, and beautiful. Perfect for a romantic meal, meeting up with friends or family. As for the menu; you can rest assured that whatever you choose, you will not he disappointed. The food is exquisite and beautifully presented. A veritable treasure of dining excellence.

I'll start by getting the negative bits out of the way - We booked last minute (no, not the website) so we were in one of the cheaper rooms in the 'annex' and the water pressure for the shower and the toilet wasn't great. There was also a mix up at dinner, but it got sorted. On to the good stuff... The grounds & gardens are amazing, picturesque and lots of places to find a quiet corner and chill. And there are newts in the pond. The pool is lovely, although it was a bit cold, but that's the British 'summer' for you... Fortunately the jacuzzi's there to warm you back up afterwards. The location is bang on! We did 2hour+ walks each day, both of which they gave info for on the website and they helped us discover some great new (not easy to find) bits of the Cotswold's, both will be used for our YT walking channel. The interior of the hotel itself is great, take the time to have a look around, especially the seats by the window at the top of the stairs on the second floor, great spot for the sunset. And then there is the restaurant - our evening meal was the best chateaubriand I've had, with an excellent Rioja (great wine list), then we had breakfast included and all the boxes got ticked. Their home made hash brown really was GOOD. Also special mention for barman Josh, who is not only a dab hand at the cocktails, but also knows his wine. Yes, we'll be back.

Great atmosphere and great wine selection, fondue itself was lovely but let down by the bread. We'll definitely be going again, but a baked French bread or something a little nicer than what appears to be chopped up Hovis would make this 5*

Had cappuccino offee and a cake. Coffee was poor (bitter, small), cake was ok. Had to go up to collect cake after coffees had been brought to table without. Cost moderate but not a lot less than much better nearby. Hopefully was off day, but they will have to up their game to attract me in again.

This has to be without doubt the most awful place I’ve been in a long time. Firstly, I could not get past the disgusting smell of dusty, dirty carpets and soft furnishings! It was vile and completely overpowering! The whole place stank!! The amuse bouches were hideous. A cucumber sandwich (seriously?), a tartlet which contained something unfathomable and a vol au vent which looked as though it had been sitting out in the warm all afternoon! I think it contained mushrooms but I really couldn’t be sure. The lobster starter was not good. The lobster was chewy and the salad leaves covered in salt. My husband’s scallops tasted fishy……never a good sign! His scallops also came with a vegetable spring roll which he said was completely tasteless! I had the lemon sole for main. The accompanying crab had a strange twang, I couldn’t eat it. The fish was ok, the green beans and celeriac were the best thing on plate. My husband said his steak tasted of liver and so was unable to finish it. I thought it unusual that the waitress wanted us to choose our desserts when we ordered our starters and mains. Very odd, and I’m pleased I declined to do so as after the poor first two courses, I really didn’t want to prolong the agony. I could have done with a coffee but I had no confidence that it would be drinkable so decided not to risk it. We won’t be back!
