Excellent food and staff made us feel welcomed. From amuse-bouche to dessert each dish was delicious and very well presented. We would recommend the Christmas menu to anyone looking for a special meal around the festive period or any other time.- comments from a Frenchman!

Great service. Nice busy atmosphere. I haven’t had a cassoulet since a very good one in Covent Garden at Chez Antoinette many years ago. Most disappointed with what I had today and certainly at the premium price of £20 for a small portion. My partner had the sausages from the Prixe menu. Better value and taste.

October 2024 - Visited Petit Pois again today and were served once again by the wonderful Marketa and her equally lovely and helpful colleague Ben. Sad to hear that Marketa is leaving and we wish her every happiness. The food, wine, service and ambience was once again exceptional. I had been dreaming of les escargots since the summer and they didn't disappoint! Can't wait to return on our next visit to Brighton! Thank you again! July 2024 - Absolutely fantastic food (French Onion Soup, Escargots and French Cheeses) and exceptional and friendly service from Marketa (who also really knows her wines). Our flight to France was cancelled but Marketa and Petit Pois brought France to Brighton for us! Can't wait to come back next time we visit Brighton. Thank you.

Following the previous good reviews on Tripadvisor from other customers we were really looking forward to our booking on 20th September. Sadly we were really disappointed. The wine selection was very limited ( not enough to give a poor review), the starters were OK but nothing to shout about. The descriptions relating to the main courses were extremely inaccurate. I had rib eye steak which should have been accompanied by ratatouille and fries which were not on the plate when it arrived, Fries were supplied after complaining but ratatouille was not available. My wife's main course of cod should never have left the kitchen, to say that it was overcooked would be an understatement and any self respecting chef would not have tarnished his reputation by letting it be served to a paying customer. After complaining a satisfactory cod was provided however the advertised accompanying bisque was sadly lacking. Although the bill was adjusted for the poor quality of food the evening had already been spoilt. We also understood that the regular chef was not in attendance and the busy Friday night was obviously too much for the stand in non-French chef to cope with.

This place really is a 5/5. I don’t think there’s anything I could fault it on, it was food magic! I had thr smoked mackerel pate for starters which was so freaking delicious, contrasting with the bitterness of the pickled cucumber. Then I had the crepe roulee with mushrooms, leeks, creme fraiche and mixed leaves which was incredible!! It was well presented but the taste was OH MY GOD! Insanely good. Husband had the crispy squid which was perfevtion, followed by the sea bream which he said was beautifully cooked. He then had creme brulee which was so clearly homemade with a stick of cinnamon in! Service was perfect too. I couldn’t love this place anymore - best meal out I’ve had in years!!

The set menu offers terrific value with the best mackerel pate I've ever had followed by fresh sea bream fillets beautifully cooked on a bed of roasted new potatoes in a Provencal style sauce. I really wanted to go to this restaurant because the menu looked really good and I love French food. I was going to an evening event on Brighton seafront that didn’t have an end time. This restaurant is just off the seafront, up a little side road. So we thought we’d turn up hoping they had a table available. They did! We were welcomed with a big smile and seated. The atmosphere was bubbly, it has an open kitchen which adds to the ambience. Drinks came very quickly, the house Rosé was delicious, on the dry side with a bit of depth. My husband had an alcohol free beer. I had the sea bass special which was gorgeous, a thick piece of sea bass, cauliflower purée, tiny new potatoes, tempura courgettes and sauce vierge (? it was diced tomato, capers, herbs). My husband had ribeye steak, fries and bordelaise sauce, cooked medium, also very tasty, he particularly liked the sauce. For dessert we both had chocolate fondant served with vanilla ice cream, lovely melting middle, it was perfect. An absolutely lovely experience, friendly attentive service and fabulous sophisticated food, it really reminded me of my Uncle Pete's French restaurant, good food and good times. I will definitely go back if I’m in Brighton!

In today’s cash strapped world getting a three course lunch for £25 is a steal. Even more so when the food is this good. We had a couple of glasses of cremant whilst deciding what to eat. Two starters the chilled pea and mint soup was delicious and the assiette of meats came beautifully presented and with gluten free bread on request. Mains of sea bream on a bed of new potatoes ratatouille and samphire and a Toulouse sausage with a mustard sauce and a very garlicky mash were both good sized for the set lunch menu. One desert of a mixed cheese platter was again beautifully presented. The only downside was the card reader going down which at one stage had us considering which auto bank to go to. The restaurant should have a contingency in place for such situations. Luckily it came back up before we left. Overall great food backed up by great service.

Came down to Brighton recently for a conference with some colleagues, and it has been so long since I came down, I thought I would open myself up to a new dining experience, albeit for a quick lunch break. I had not heard anything about the restaurant before but the menu was right up my street and so I thought I would stop by. I wasn't sure if I would be able to get a table on such short notice, but my concerns were soon put to rest by the very welcoming and accommodating servers. Upon entering I was treated like a longstanding repeat customer and the atmosphere and overall mood was very relaxed and there was a noticeable attention to detail. I couldn't fault the service one bit, it was mirrored by food of an equal footing, my only grievance is that I couldn't stay longer before jetting back to the conference. Perhaps another visit on a future weekend away is on the cards.

Worth every penny. Went here on Easter weekend and not only the staff polite and welcoming and friendly, the service was swift and the food was absolutely phenomenal. I've been to a lot of high-end restaurants in Brighton, and after my visit to Petit Pois, it has soared to the top by considerable amounts. I have paid twice the price at other establishments for a poorer and slower service and honestly a much lower quality of food. I highly recommend it.

If you read this, it may be because you are interested in going there but you wonder if you have to. All these reviews with 5 stars are giving you a hint but let me tell you how much this place has to offer. First and very briefly because we're not here for that, food is a 10, staff is a 10 and cleanliness is a 10. Petit Pois is way more than a french restaurant to go to, it is an experience. At first, the entrance makes you feel at home as it's warm, small and it already smells great cuisine. You will be welcomed quite quickly by the lovely staff (french sometimes but we don't bite I promise) and they will lead you to your table. I would advise a table near the windows as its' pretty lovely.. Once here, you'll have some water and the menu will quickly arrive and with it, wonders. If you think you've been through what this planet has to offer, wait to go to Petit Pois. You have the choice and you may already think about what you'll get online on their web site, the menu is there. You can look for anything on the menu, you'll see a great choice of starters. I tried them all, they're all exquisite. My favorite is the goat croquettes. If you want to try snails, that's the only place to get the proper experience. Then you have les assiettes, which are all very well balanced and worth the money compared to the quality and amount of food. You'll love the Gourmet one where you can select the fromages you want and the charcuterie you want. As I'm always pleased, I love a good laugh in asking them to pick what they want as I'm sure I will be delighted. When it comes to the plat de résistance, you'll be able to travel far from here and back to France with delightful meats and creamy sauces. Of course you'll have some fish and vegetables for our vege friends. My partner being vegetarian, they'll always find the best dish here, special mention to the amazing Leek and spinach gratin, a must try. The accompagnements, you'll love them. It's a great quantity so be careful. Then, the desert, oh dear it's fantastique. Truffles are amazingly well made and the poached pear is incroyable. My favorite? The Trio de Creme brulée. You'll travel from a cinnamon creme to a lemon one, all being very well made and prepared with Amour. Overall, do not hesitate and book your table. Whether you're with friends, family, or with your Love, you will have a great experience. Merci.

Third visit to Petit Pois and once again didn't disappoint. In fact this visit was the best to date. Oysters/Snails to start were as good as ever followed by Braised Ox Cheeks that were simply superb. Finished off with the Poached Pear (mouth watering). Couldn't fault any of this up there with the best I've had. The staff are great also to make an all round great experience. Highly recommended

Unfortunately this was not a very good experience the waiting staff seemed really unhappy and not that interested. The wine we tried, 2 whites both very vinegary and then went with a red which was ok but nothing special. My main course of cod was cold I asked them to heat it up expecting a new plate of food but was given my original piece of cod which was still not very warm. I’m afraid we won’t be back disappointed it was our first and unfortunately our last visit. There is so much choice in Brighton and for the price we expected a lot more.

Superb French bistro. Delicious salt cod fritters, bouillabaisse and skate wing with a lovely muscadet to go with it. Good service and value.

Cannot recommend this amazing restaurant highly enough. One of the loveliest meals I’ve had in a long time as a fan of French food. It was a quiet evening and I dined alone meaning I could really enjoy the flavours. Staff were all very friendly, the menu all looked great and my choices of Duck Rillettes, Pork and Creme Brulee trio were all absolutely delicious. Would recommend to all and will certainly ve returning! Kudos to the chef

We just loved this restaurant. If you’re a foodie do not miss out on this little gem. It’s a real little bit of France in the centre of Brighton. Every mouthful was a delight. I had goats cheese croquettes to start followed by the most amazing bouillabaisse and my husband and brother had the skate wing. My sister in law who is a veggie said her gratin of leek dish was one of the best veggie dishes she had eaten in ages. Pudding of tart Tatin and cheeseboard finished the evening. Just perfect in every way! 10 out of 10

Gotha cheese croquettes are so delicious. Pork chop is not bad; its smashed potato is so delicious! I don't recommend Skate Wing. It's pretty tasteless. Service is delayed, and we have to wait too long for food. *Note: It’s the first toilet I’ve visited with free sanitary towels!!!! That is sooooo great!!!! Congrats 👏💜👏

Amazing food , the flavours are so balanced and unique. Family run restaurant , not a chain! Organic wine is being served there. Great service and relaxed atmosphere. Will definitely be returning.

We have enjoyed a lunch here and the food was really good. The duck breast that we had was very soft and not overcooked. The only flaw was that we ordered a bottle of champagne and apart from the moment when the bottle was first opened, nobody ever came later to refill our glasses, so we had to do it ourselves.

Highly recommended. We ate pre-theatre as it’s only 5 minutes from the Theatre Royal. We got so engrossed we lost track of time and only left a few minutes to reach the theatre. Just as well they’re not as strict as London! PS there’s a lovely pub right opposite with great atmosphere and real ales.

Delicious moules and excellent value as part of the set lunch time menu. The wine list is superb. Busy with a great atmosphere and good service, and seemingly fully booked on a Friday lunchtime.

Booked a table last Sunday 12th November 3 of us had the Sunday Roast Beef The Beef was tender and cooked to perfection. The accompanying veg were very disappointing the Roast potato’s were like rocks and the other veg was non descriptive awful. I did comment to the waiter who collected our plates but i am not sure the complaint reached the chef. Sorry a simple mistake like this can ruin an otherwise pleasant experience. Elizabeth

Sehr gutes Lokal in Brighton. Absolut zu empfehlen. Tolle französische Küche und super nettes Service. Man sollte aber wenn möglich vorab reservieren.

Came by The French Horn for raclette today but we hadn’t booked. They were really busy but the staff were lovely and rearranged things to make space for us. The raclette was amazing and there were so many delicious veggie options. So much food came with the raclette we couldn’t even finish it. The staff were so friendly, helpful and kind. We will be back for sure.

Really nice and flavourful latte (that didn't just taste like milk) although a little smaller than I had hoped for. I had a nicely flavoured veggie omelet and the salt and pepper mills on the table were a perfect touch for freshly ground pepper!
