OMG if you haven't been for a Raclette at the French Horn... Go!! We were two veggie and two meat and it was soooo good. Everything was so tasty and the people are lovely too. We've had burgers there before which are also amazing, but this was another level. A great sharing experience any time, and a good alternative to a Sunday roast possibly. We'll be back with friends and/or family again soon.

First time I’ve eaten here, brilliant. Amazing and different burger selection, and they were all absolutely delicious. House red wine fantastic and the staff were all warm, friendly and the place had such a good atmosphere on a chilly evening. Thank you!

Stopped by for a pint on Monday stayed for 2. Briskly busy for a Monday evening. Seems to have a loyal and friendly group of regulars. I think this place is independently owned and I'd rather gives these lovely people my money in the 7 Dials.

Can't believe it took us sooo long to try the food here.... It's sooo good. My husband is a meat eater and I'm a veggie, and we're both equally happy every time. The service is great, and the chef will explain why the extras you want might not quite work, if that's the case.... I love that! Fully recommend any day of the week, and Thursday is a winner with two homemade burgers with skin on fries for £15.... Total!!!

Attended a wedding reception here recently. It was a lovely informal but intimate occasion. The service was friendly and efficient and the food absolutlely amazing. Highly recommend

Estuvimos cenando. El personal fue muy amable y la comida, hamburguesas y una tabla mixta, estaba deliciosa, en especial los quesos. Muy recomendable.

We went to the French Horn yesterday to try out the Raclette, and it was a revelation. We had the vegetarian version and you could just tell that there has been so much thought put into every component. The variety of fresh and crisp veggies, the herbs and the cheeses, oh my lord the cheeses. Paired with a bottle of red wine this was pure perfection. Thank you!

I've always had a soft spot for the French horn. It's a super chilled local pub. The food and drink is great quality. I ordered one of the beef cheese burgers and it was really great. The staff are very attentive and friendly. Some good beers on tap too. I like the atmosphere of this place. More unique than the other bars and pubs nearby. I've been back again! 6 months since my first review and the burgers are still delicious. Check out my video. :D

Always happy to come here for drinks. My favourite place to come for a pint and a chat. Always feels very welcoming and relaxed. Crowd is mature (by which I mean middle aged) but hey I fit right it. Food is good. Quite meaty but that’s French stuff for you. You can see from the goats cheese burger that they do do cheese well. Not really the place for vegans though.

Really lovely local pub serving fabulous french food cooked by the accommodating and hospitable Sandrine and her team. We arrived early for a family meal, by the time we left it was packed. Lovely atmosphere, superb food, great staff. Highly recommend

Had the raclette burger. Was the best burger I've ever had hands down. Didn't even need ketchup...which I can't recall ever happening.

Was very crowded and felt was wedge in like sardines. Was so close to table next door .could of eaten there dinner. Friend had pasta dish i had grilled chicken and salad. wasnt ask if wanted any sauce when finally got attention was given such a tiny amout of mayonnaise. wouldnt go ago .

The scotch egg was absolutely gorgeous, runny egg yolk galore.

Went with a couple of Seven Dials locals last night and had an awesome time! Great atmosphere, friendly staff and brilliant food. Only one issue... upon ordering the Roquefort burger in the busy restaurant I in fact received the Raclette version. But you know what (and this is the punchline I've been building up to)... JE NE RACLETTE RIEN!!! It was lovely and I'll definitely be in again soon.

The Raclette was off the scale good, really delicious. Lovely service and friendly owners. Pub a bit low on atmosphere and too cold but may have just been because it wasn’t busy. That aside, really recommend this place for authentic French mountain food!

Visited here this evening, unfortunately a sad experience the second time around. We came here previously and had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. However upon another visit, I was saddened to see how it had changed. Upon arrival we were not greeted at all, we saw our reserved table and just naturally took it. We didn’t wait too long for drink which was nice, it’s wasn’t too busy so that helped. Unfortunately the coke we ordered tasted more like water to which we made the complaint and she tested it and also agreed it wasn’t nice, we got a bottle replacement (fantastic) … but as for the waitress she didn’t take too kindly to the complaint and started pointing and and rolling her eyes at our table and discussing it with other customers. We ordered our starters to which they didn’t have (fair enough) to which we re-arranged and got the jar of terrine, this then proceeded to take 30+ minutes to arrive. Onto the main the raclette is great and came swiftly after the starter. We ordered more drinks at the end and again we ordered cokes and it was exactly the same I thought maybe they had changed the syrup or maybe the gas but clearly not to which we got the response “it’s just how it is” (replaced once more for 2 bottles of coke instead) but to then get the bill and be try to be charged for the 2 draft pints as well as the bottles? I was happy to pay for my replacement but not for something that clearly wasn’t right? We did let them know that the food was lovely but the service was poor for which the response give “I’m glad you enjoyed the food” turned her back and walked off to complain to her other customers about us… So great place for Raclette, but unfortunately the service doesn’t go hand in hand with it.

Came here this evening for a good experience and good food however it turned out to be quite possibly some of the worst customer service I've experienced. Complaints were handled with disdain and then ridicule. The Coca Cola was not correct on tap, it was like brown dish water. This was then replaced for bottled coke, which was good. Then when ordered again we received brown dish water again, when complained we were met with rolled eyes and sarcasm that it was meant to taste that way. For because of the complaint she spent time complaining loudly and pointing at our table whilst talking with other guests at the restaurant. The food was good yes, but the wait times were ridiculous for food that's not even cooked! The whole experience was marred by the customer service this evening and I shall not be returning and will be recommending people don't go here. 2 Stars only because the food was good.

I love the French Horn, it's a real gem, selling quality wines and great Raclette, a great place to go with friends. Bar staff are lovely and it's always a mixed crowd, so great for people watching too.

Waited an hour for the saddest burger I ever had and the place wasn’t even that busy. Beer couldn’t have been any more flat. Cute little garden in the evening but inside it always has a weird vibe. Later edit: Pub replied saying they will prepare the finest sea water on my next visit which doesn’t connect at all with my original review. If you copy paste your replies at least make sure they make sense next time ;)

The staff are super nice here and I'd highly recommend the Raclette. Such good value and great to share!

Got the duck burger - worst burger of my life. The lack of adequacy of this burger was so severe that transcends the burger category, and makes it one of the saddest meals I've ever had. But let's go back. I was tempted by the £7 discount on Thursdays, but because I had to wait 50 MINUTES, it turns out that it's not only a waste of money, but also time. Then comes the sandwich - intriguing at first, served sitting directly on top of fries which is an unorthodox arrangement. After the first bite, I was met by a chewy sad excuse for a duck fillet accompanied by overpowering taste of mustard and fennel. Really not a pleasant experience. The chewiness sadly only got worse throughout the sandwich, which turned eating into some sort of sad labour with no reward. The duck meat had no flavour at all - waste of fauna really, might as well put cardboard inside. After finishing, not only am I £14 pound short (paid for 2 disappointments, mine and girlfriend's) but also I desperately need to eat something else to get rid of the odd flavour combo. I'd even resort to a sip of Thames water to end my suffering TL;DR Don't recommend for duck burgers, not sure if I'd risk it for the others.

English: The whole family came from doing a lot of miles and walking through The Lanes. We were tired. At the time we went to have a lunch (9pm) no one wanted us because they were already closing. And The French Horn was our salvation. Not only did Tris's friendliness make us feel at home, but the burgers are exceptional. Thanks Tris and the cook!

being a local i havent been to this pub in a while and since they have extended the terrace it is a lot better , the atmosphere in here as been amazing and the staff where very helpful and extremely friendly especially the bartender ( Tris ) , walking with crutches he has helped me to carry all my drinks and always had a smile on his face wich is what you expect from a place like this . really recommend this place !

Came here on a Friday evening and we eneded up having the raclette. There was 6 of us. I cannot recommend this enough, everything was so delicious, the setup was so cool and just everything about this was amazing!! I can’t wait to go back for another one. Definitely a must try with friends!

The French Horn was a nice friendly pub The Burgers were delicious. Lovely favoured meat, the only problem was that considering the Pub was pretty much empty apart from a few people, it took way to long, for a couple of Burgers and a small portion of fries. The vibe of this pub is great. It’s on a corner of seven dials with windows looking into a golden room of music,laughter and surprise. For some it could be considered as a local boozer serving standard ales however on the inside there is much more….. If you hit the right night you could be in for a surprise . This pub holds poker nights, has live bands and major England football matches. Most importantly, The French Horn has one of the best French charcuterie/cheese boards there is to offer in Brighton! The chef is a petite French lady who certainly knows what she is doing and SHE is the hidden gem of the this pub. The menu is traditional, simple and affordable. The cheese boards are seasonal with a great variety of bread,chutneys,fruit and nuts and the 2 for 1 burger nights every Thursday prove to be a success. The bar staff are super friendly and the owner nearly always comes out to serve you and check up on her customers.

Really awesome experience, chef/owner came to clarify our order in person, was a really nice touch. Food was awesome, satisfied a vegetarian and 2 meat eaters. Tris on their first shift was super helpful and attentive, as was the other team member but we just didn’t get his name. Dog friendly, all round great pub x

Cool local pub with an easy vibe in Seven Dials! They serve very tasty burgers that has its own twist and character. We had a vegetarian beetroot burger and beef burger. It's not like your burger! The staff was friendly and the pub seems to have lots of locals.

The best raclette in Brighton and in general, very generous portion, lovely wine. The owner is brilliant. Loads of board games for the kids. I would definitely recommend it

So happy to find this close to home. A friendly, relaxed pub that offers raclette. The meat and veggie options were both good. The house red and white wine were fine. We thought it was good value and the portions are generous - we were 4 very hungry people and we were completely full, couldn’t even think about desert. The staff were just the right amount of attentive and helpful. Maybe not one for a romantic evening, but perfect for a fun night with friends.

Had picpol. wine it was good. avoid the sauvignon perhaps. kindly allowed to try it before buying. a bottle. We were to pay straight away. Garlic bread would have made a French man roll with laughter. Raclette was over salty problem with the meat being very salty. rather dry potatoes could have been brushed with butter or something and did not quite hit the spot.I imagine the cheese should be bubbling hot and it should be served quickly fresh off the press what was hear was some rather warm congealed cheese. overall everything was mixed in together including the cornichons and radishes. a bit odd. Burger seemed better and chips were okay. on the menu the raclette was £6 which seemed cheap the burger was I suppose £15 and our bottle of wine I suppose £30 . Alright for some chips and a pint I guess. Service was just okay. It was all just okay but room for improvement. What about a veggie dish like tartiflette less expensive ingredients and can be gorgeous.

I organised my Christmas party here a few weeks ago here where we pretty much filled the place. The owner was incredibly helpful, responsive and made it as easy as possible to organise the event of quite a large group of work colleagues. All the staff on the night were equally as kind and attentive. Food was delicious and enjoyed by all! A mix of burgers and Raclette in a buffet style. The food was served beautifully and promptly and everyone had a fantastic time! We were able to arrange our own DJ and use the sound system which really made the party ours. As well as all this the pub has a great selection of beers and wines and was nice, cosy and the decor and dim lighting and fairy lights helped add to the nice atmosphere. The disco ball later on helped get the party going! I would totally recommend coming here for dinner and drinks as well as also booking events here. 5/5!

Quick lunch stop was disappointing. French onion soup very tasty, but at £10 for a bowl, we felt it was definitely overpriced. The bread that was served with the soup arrived 10 minutes later when we had almost finished our soup. The service was friendly, but slow (restaurant was empty).

Raclette is a rare thing to find and honestly short of a dairy Intolerance (and even with it) you'd be foolish to pass up the opportunity. Add in a great location, relaxed French bar In a great location with a beautiful (of small) garden section and you've got yourself a gem in the city.

Really enjoyed Raclette at the French Horn. Never tried it before so don't know if it was the authentic version but there was a stack of great food to pour the cheese over and the staff were friendly and attentive. Good selection of draft beers too. Very reasonable prices for Brighton too. Highly recommended!

This venue is truly one of Brightons hidden gems! Also one the vew places you can find a genuine raclette go fulfill all your delightfully cheesy desires. The setting is authentically French. The staff and atmosphere were delightful.

I was in this place months ago, for a birthday, and that was such a pleasure to know that a pub can offer a proper raclette, as a French from Savoie, I need a good raclette in my life. So I came, in the middle of January, windy cold weather to try out the famous raclette, I was quite disappointed by the noice I should say, it's way more too noisy to enjoy such a perfect dish as a raclette. Believe me. Anyway, I could speak in French as I know there is a French waitress but let's speak in English. I was happy to take a raclette with 4cheeses. So obviously, we've waited a long time, half an hour I should say but it's fine, because we've had preparations, starters and bread (the perfect way to seduce a French, la baguette of course). And now, here is the raclette!... I was quite sad, my and my partner, and Savoyards que nous sommes, because there wasn't a lot of 'tatoes, so sad! Plus, there isn't any cheese as well. Even if the price if chip, £15 for one person, I was quite surprised of quantities. Anyway, that was such a pleasure, even if there is bacon with the raclette, which is not a part of it but anyway, English class! I should say that the little gougeres was nice, but useless. It's nothing but a puffed cabbage. I would love to come back, I would ask for more potatoes for sure! Plus, the price is absolutely perfect for what is served! Romain.

Nous avons était en famille à Brighton le week-end du 01 au 03 novembre. Ce pub est très accueillant, bonne équipe super dynamique et souriante. La carte est très sympa, le premier soir nous avons testé la raclette 4 fromages (produits frais) il y avait 4 sorte de fromage français (morbier, raclette, reblochon et conté) idem pour la charcuterie que du frais. La quantité et la qualité sont là pour un prix très raisonnable. Du coup nous y sommes retournés souper pour notre deuxième soir. Hamburger maison (pain frais, steak maison frais) au top (un grand bravo à la patronne). Gros plus, la carte des vins est très bien aussi. Bon mangeur vous voilà averti. Possibilité de faire des apéros sympa et de snack.

Make sure your glasses are clean please!! Sussex at £4.10 for brighton is a shock to the system but didnt really enjoy it, barmaid made up for it though, menu looked pretty heavy but the french will be french, merci to your barmaid, she makes life worth living.

Lovely Independent pub in the heart of 7 Dials, quirky, lively, full of characters. Popped in on a Tuesday evening, the bar staff was bubbly & friendly. Food is always good & home cooked, the burgers are amazing!

I'd wanted to try raclette for a while and you can get it here on a Sunday. It's French cheese that you melt yourself and eat with accompaniments including potatoes, ham and vegetables. There is also a vegetarian version. Service was good although place was very quiet on our visit, we were the only ones there.

Been to this place a couple of times on Saturday afternoons with my elderly gran who recently moved to the area and couldn’t fault the place. Staff are very accommodating, music is at a level where you can talk without shouting and the raclette is awesome! Make sure you go hungry though - the portions are huge....
