What can I say, the food is fantastic, the service is wonderful. You should definitely book a table at The Gallery Restaurant at the MET

I have been coming here for 20 odd years . Still maintains an high standard . Quality produce , cooked , and presented well, for a fraction of restaurant prices . A great learning ground for future chefs

This place is not advertised well enough. I purchased a Groupon and 4 of us had a 2 course lunch. This is a restaurant within walking distance of brighton station that is run by students who are on a catering course. For this reason you need to be patient as service can be slow. The service is a little wooden at times but the enthusiasm is there and the food is delicious and well presented. You need to book , I believe so they know how many they are catering for but there is a choice of 3 starters; mains and desserts . At time of writing 2 courses are £9.95 and 3 courses for £12.95. You need to arrive around mid day as once finished the students return to class. There is a full bar and the option of coffee to follow for around £1.50 extra. Only open 3 lunch times a week during term time. A different lunch time experience but excellent quality ingredients made into delicious food

Have been meaning to come to this restaurant for a long time. This is part of the catering course at Brighton Met and those serving you; both front and back of house are students on the course. You are, in effect, taking part in one of their lessons with an eagle eyed tutor overlooking proceedings, who occasionally steps in to pass on advice or show the way to the waiting staff. I was really impressed with the whole experience. Service was both polite and attentive, at times it was a little slow, but these are students learning their craft and you just need to factor this into your plans. The food was excellent with great variety on offer. The portions were generous, enough that finishing dessert was beyond me!! If this were not enough we were then introduced to the freezer full of food for sale on the way out...I will never have to cook for a dinner party again!! A really enjoyable meal served by great students who I wish every success to in the future.

So good to be back at The Gallery & two of us had lunch on 25/11/22. Tasty pasta starter, gorgeous roast lamb with tender broccoli & potato fricassee, creamy panna cotta with fresh fruit - everything absolutely delicious & well presented. Served by Ben & Morgan who were friendly & attentive. We'll be back for Christmas lunch!

Me and my wife went there for the first time recently and had a very nice meal for very little. The drinks are also very affordable so it's a great option for a cheap and well cooked 3 course meal. The menu has a few choices for each course so unless you have a lot of restrictions you'll find something to eat. It's served quickly and there is a bucket on the bar to collect tips the trainee staff so do take along some change.

We have always loved eating at the college, the friendly ,welcoming tutors, students and eating in the attractive dining room.We have to admit that we were rather worried about going because of the virus sweeping the country but everything was so safe and well organised Meals were delivered to a side table next to our own and unfortunately we were unable to have a good conversation with the students in their masks about their future plans,as we usually do.The meal was so delicious and included warm ,college made bread. We hope to return very soon and we were thrilled to enjoy a near normal outing again.

Visited tonight , what a fantastic experience from the moment you arrive with a superb welcome to the moment you depart with a grateful thanks These students worked so very hard to put together amazing dishes, superbly presented, with explanation of food by the students. So mouthwatering. Bar prices extremely good with a good choice, This restaurant is superbly run I can not speak highly enough of it. EXTREMELY GOOD VALUE You will pay so much more in a comparable restaurant. Surroundings very suitable, only one comment please dim the lights slightly. If you don't try the gallery you are missing a trick Well done to EVERY student fantastic work

Had a taster menu and food was excellent. It’s a training restaurant for the pupils at the college but the food was a lot better than some restaurants in the city. Drinks are very cheap and food is well priced.

This little known restaurant is run by the university by students doing courses in learning how to chef and serve . Despite lacking experience they are supervised by great staff and produce amazing food beautifully served and presented . If you were paying proper prices it could be two or three times as much .. it’s that good .Pay a visit ..support the students and enjoy a fine dining which is great value .

We have visited The Gallery before, but this time decided to have an early Christmas Lunch. Excellent experience from start to finish, lovely food, and so encouraging to see the students, ably supported by Stacey and her team, develop and gain in confidence - you could see during the meal as some of the students relaxed a little they were making progress, and they were so focused on what they were doing. Reassuring to know that these sort of training and development facilities still exist for students, long may it continue.

My wife and I enjoyed an excellent lunch in this training restaurant today, with five friends as our guests. The menu gave us a well-varied choice of starters, mains and desserts. I would have been happy to eat any of them! My starter was frillata di merluzzo (Yes, I had to ask - tasty little cod fish cakes, delightfully presented on baby spinach leaves with a Hollandaise sauce); most others had a spiced pumpkin soup (swirl of cream, mini-slice of grilled pumpkin and crispy bacon); for mains, some had duck breast, others pan-fried fillets of sea bream, garnished with vegetables cooked à point; desserts were split between black cherry sorbet, served with dark chocolate sauce and topped with lemon zest, and coffee panna cotta, crowned by two fat blueberries, a minuscule chocolate cigar and a tiny sprig of fresh mint. I draw detailed attention to the presentation because it somehow sums up the skill exhibited and the care taken over every element of this meal. The restaurant manager was very helpful over the booking of the meal, the maître d’ welcoming and professional, our waiters efficient and very attentive without being fussy, and we were aware of their tutor, subtly keeping a benign eye on things. At the end of the meal, all the students who had been ‘front of house’ or in the kitchen came by the tables, and we were able to chat with them over our coffee. They were very impressive young people. And we look forward to returning!

This is the restaurant run by the colleges catering students so you have to allow for the fact that the cooking is more a work in progress than necessarily the finished article and obviously the prices reflect this. Lunch is 12-12.30, we paid £13 each for a 3 course lunch here by level 3 students. We enjoyed our lunch here, there was a choice of 3 dishes for starter and 3 for main course and 2 for dessert. I had gurnard soup with a small piece of gurnard to start and hake with saffron potatoes and vegetables for main, my partner had a pork dish to start and a brisket beef dish for main. Beautifully presented and mostly well cooked food, although I think the meat dishes were stronger than the fish ones and I would still like to see more imaginative vegetarian main courses on the menu than vegetable tart. It’s great to support aspiring young chefs and they welcome feedback from customers. I would just like to see a bit more imagination and choice in the vegetarian dish department.

Used a Groupon for a two course meal on Thursday lunchtime. Attentive service. We both had the pork. Well cooked and plenty of it. My husband's only complaint was he could have done with a bit more potato and the meal could have been hotter. Our dessert was strawberry roulade. Delicious! I had a glass of reasonably priced red wine. Altogether, very good value in a pleasant environment. Only drawback is that you have to go at 12-12.30 although we'd have preferred to have lunch a bit later.

Went for lunch today with groupon voucher. Had 3 courses. The college students work the whole place as if it was a restaurant. Excellent food and service. Everything is overseen by the students tutor who by the way does an excellent job. Well done to you all and best of luck in your future careers. Pay it a visit you won’t be disappointed. 3 course lunch for a tenner each. Bargain!

Great service. Nice busy atmosphere. I haven’t had a cassoulet since a very good one in Covent Garden at Chez Antoinette many years ago. Most disappointed with what I had today and certainly at the premium price of £20 for a small portion. My partner had the sausages from the Prixe menu. Better value and taste.

Popped in twice whilst in Brighton. First visit was just for drinks and second was for food!! Both occasions were excellent. Drinks were a little pricy but very enjoyable. Food was fairly priced. Beef bourguignon was very nice and beef was amazingly cooked.
