Lovely Sunday lunch at great prices in our local pub. Reasonable wine prices (and French to boot), great beer and lagers and superb roast dinner (beef, pork or turkey). Not to mention my pĂątĂ© starter. We didnât have room for a dessert. Next time! Thanks team.

Simply JJs Allerthorpe Golf Club. This has been our daughter's wedding weekend. She married locally, and a number of our family guests stayed in the lodges. As a very central location for all our guests who were all staying in the area, we asked JJs if they could provide a buffet brunch for our close friends and family the morning after the wedding itself - just to prolong the party for a bit longer! JJs did this for us, providing the most wonderful cooked brunch for 41 of us, allowing us all to 'eat out' on our marvellous day. Great food, great atmosphere, great service. Thank you so very, very much.

Unfortunately this was not a great experience. We were a family of 5 and no tables were readily available to accommodate 5. However there were three tables for two free. When asked if my disabled mother of 88 and myself could wait until a table became free the response was totally unacceptable. Yes you can but we will need to put a chair outside (in the cold) for her to sit and wait. No more needs to be said. Embarrassing poor customer service and a very distressing experience for us all.

We waited forty five minutes for drinks to arrive! It was not a very busy day or time, week day mid afternoon, however we were not the only table waiting for so long, with at least five getting up to ask staff where their food and drinks were. They explained they were short staffed though the lengthy wait was not helped by them continuing to seat people, at one point there was about eight table all who had been seated and waiting to order for at least half an hour. A sign to explain or the waiting staff explaining there would be a wait wouldâve helped as then people can make an informed decision to stay and wait or not. After having approached someone to see if we can order as weâd been sat for at least twenty mins by this point, typically as weâre about to leave, after 45 minutes and no sign of drinks or food, they arrived together. Watching others showed this was the experience for numerous others who were seated before and after us. We had only ordered salads aswell! Terrible chaotic lengthy and uneasy experience despite staff being largely friendly and the food nice. Wait times have always been quite long here though this was unacceptable on this occasion with no upfront explanation or seemingly any system. We love the gardens so will be bringing our own food and drinks from now on.

We enjoyed as a self indulgent treat afternoon tea at Betty's for the second time. While not the cheapest thing you may experience, you won't forget this one. The food is beautiful to look at and taste. The ambiance is very genteel and quintessentially British accompanied by a grand piano tinkling in the background. The staff are dressed authentically and seem to enjoy their job, as we did the exception service given with both a smile and expertise. We were served by Eva who was bubbly young lady and a delight to engage with. In all money well spent and an experience we'll remember for all the right reasons...đđ°âđđ
