What a fantastic restaurant. Food was absolutely gorgeous. Best Indian meal we've had in a very long time. Just visiting Pocklington so a great find. Highly recommend 👌

Amazing atmosphere with perfectly cooked food that tasted delicious. The staff did everything they could to make our evening one to remember. Jaber especially was such a great host. We will be back and tell all of your friends what a great place it was to dine.

Tired restaurant in need of renovation, order a medium and you get Vindaloo/Phaal strength curry. Second time I've been here and requested medium strength curry and got a complete gob burner. These guys don't seem to be able to cook from mild to medium they go mild to vindaloo / phaal strength. Had thousands of curries in dozens of restaurants but this us the only restaurant that doesn't understand medium. Be warned ⚠️

We had an amazing night. We chose Valentines night to eat in this restaurant.From the moment we entered the restaurant we were treated with excellent service. The staff were polite, friendly and attentive but also gave us space too. The food was amazing and the portions were generous. It was tasty and well presented. They even packed up our leftovers to take home. Highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be returning!!! Thank you for a perfect evening.

The food was ok but didn’t like how they tried to make us pay by cash at the end (hadn’t flagged up they wanted cash when we booked!

I liked the place . I went to dine in with my family. The child seat which they have provided was very dirty. The man who had given the seat knows how dirty it was even though he didn't hesitate to give it to customers. I put the baby's jacket and a towel over the seat to make sure it is OK for my baby to sit . The food was good. The ambience was amazing. But I personally don't wish to visit that place again.

The food is 11/10 for sure, lost for words, from customer service to atmosphere to the food, everything was just spot on, the flavours are outstanding out of this world, can’t recommend it enough, i have had a lot of different indian food but this place hits different 😋

Reasonably priced, good sized portions and tasted freshly made. The showstopper was the Naan bread (we ordered tikka Naan and the special Naan) definitely the best we've ever had! Staff were super friendly and attentive - however we were the only ones in the restaurant!

Well, after looking at reviews, we picked this takeaway. It looked OK,and had good delivery time. However, when my Dad was halfway through his meal (which was of good quality), he found a triangular yellow bit of plastic in his Naan. Due to its shape, it stuck in his gum and hurt bad. I rang the restaurant to explain and he offered replacement food. I explained he couldn't eat and requested a refund for his portion. He agreed only if we gave him the remainder of my Dads food (which was at this point in the bin) I wouldn't have left this review if it wasn't for such poor customer service. I have kept the plastic for him to ascertain where it originated from, and he wasn't interested.

Beautiful food and went above and beyond for delivery to the door. Shame we’re on holiday as we’d definitely be back again. Thankyou for a great experience

We are visiting the area and visited the Bengal Lounge on recommendation, safe to say we weren’t disappointed! An amazing array of curries on offer, and when we asked for advice, we were guided gently. We wanted a couple of tweaks and happily accommodated. The food was divine, service fabulous. All served without too much of a wait. Complimentary baileys gratefully received too. Would happily return. Thank you for a wonderful evening!

We usually have a takeaway on a Saturday evening something is always missing! Last night the whole starter and the onion ls for poopadoms which were burnt - I don’t think the restaurant cares

I can honestly say this is the worst indian meal I've ever had I had chicken was it chicken,because it didn't taste like it,we also had a prawn dish which were microscopic ,it was my second attempt at this Indian,but I will not be going back,there was no effert put in,having had nice Indians in Leeds halifax Bradford,etc,it seems to me that because there's no competion they are selling disgusting food,and people that eat this!and rate it,obviously don't know what a good indian is,and I have never written a review, so that's how bad it was

Had a amazing meal on the last night on our holidays from KP lodges. We had poppadoms starters and mains everything was so tasty and a huge selection. Service was great a really friendly owner he made our night would 100% return .

We arrived at the restaurant on a Tuesday night so knew it would be a little quiet. I can honestly say I’m not sure why?! The food was amazing and really well priced! The staff were more than helpful and I can still taste my curry now it was delicious! Hope they are more busy in the future as I would deffo like to return in the near future. As we were the only customers there was not much atmosphere but it was my partners birthday so I felt like we had a private meal! Very tasty and good quality. Well done

Very surprised when we arrived as I knew it may be a little quiet going on a Tuesday evening but me and my partner were the only customers! I was scared of what was to come. I can honestly say the food was amazing! Staff very friendly and helpful! Very tasty dishes, really impressed.

Amazing food, when they got it right. They also changed the food for one off us who didn't like the too hot flavour without any hesitation.

The food was awful. The butter chicken was tasteless and wirh the sauce having a grainy texture like semolina. The rice was really overcooked. The menu was poorly written. The decor jaded. Would never recommend and would never re-visit.

While away for a few days my wife and I visited the Bengal Lounge for a meal. While it was a lovely meal, there were a few things which prevented it from getting 5 stars in any area - and only 3/5 overall. While we shared a starter and didn't have a desert, and stuck to soft-drinks, the meal was as expensive as a 3 course meal with 4 drinks (2 alcoholic) at a different restaurant the following day. The overall food quality and atmosphere wasn't "premium" enough to justify the price. The waiter, was polite and friendly, but his "it's a vindaloo" joke, to my wife (who doesn't like "HOT" food, and suffers a little with social anxiety), really wasn't the best way to make a customer feel comfortable.

On our last visit service wasn't as good and we ddiidnt get a choice of where we'd like to sit which is something that I don't like. Chicken was a bit rubbery and the nan was burnt. Sorry bengal not your greatest show. We were disappointed.

Best curry me & the girls have ever had! We stayed in a lodge near by and ordered a takeaway met the guy at reception. All food were still piping hot & tasted delicious, the delivery guy was lovely aswell! Would definitely have again if we were nearby!

Had a few great takeaways from here and finally got around to going in last night for valentines. Staff were so friendly and welcoming, the food was amazing. Nothing was too much trouble and we will definitely be going back!

We made an order over the phone tonight. We didn't know it was incorrect until we arrived home. We called them up to let them know. He then abruptly told me my other half ordered what he gave me. I disagreed. He then said that it was my fault for not opening up the curries at the restaurant and checking them. He then commanded that I take the curry back intact and he will give me a refund. By this point I could not be bothered to go back. I wouldn't have minded so much if I actually liked the incorrect curry.

We went to celebrate 2 birthdays, there was a table of 9 of us. The staff were great. Friendly and brilliant service the food was delicious. Would highly recommend 👌

Lovely service and excellent staff!! We came here for my grandmas birthday and the staff were absolutely lovely, they couldn’t do enough for you. The food service was amazing and fast, even considering we had ordered a range of curries and sundries. Each and everyone of us enjoyed our curries and would happily visit again. The staff came out with a little dessert and candle for my grandma which was a complete surprise and was a lovely gesture. All in all we were all very happy with our food and our experience was made even better by the staff. If you are ever in Pocklington or near by, I would recommend visiting this restaurant. I know I would visit it again.

First time visiting Bengal Lounge this evening. The service was great with the staff being friendly and welcoming. The curry was lovely, rich and flavourful and the peshwari naan was very good! We will be back ☺️

Popped in whilst staying in the area. Saturday night and we didn't have a table booked but they squeezed us in . 2 pints cobra came swiftly and we ordered - starting with the ubiquitous popadoms and pickles . Nice and fresh . Starters arrived - onion Bhaji and chicken pakora - both tasty but side salad had seen better days . Mains of prawn biryani and chicken masala- huge portions and very tasty . Super friendly staff attentive without being over bearing . Really great place for a good value relaxed meal.

Lovely food, nice and hot, prompt service. Seems reasonably priced and overall, our total bill was roughly in the region of what I expected to pay , but the prices listed on our bill varied from those listed on the menu.

Visited here one evening for a meal, chicken tikka, pilau rice, chips and garlic naan. Chicken tikka was very bland and taste of nothing, rice was bland and dry, chicken chewy and fatty, chips were nice and I think an empty restaurant explains this food quality. Would not recommend and will not re-visit.

Lovely meal, both myself and my husband tried something from the chef special menu they were both delicious, and very reasonable prices.

Ordered a takeaway online for delivery. Fairly easy to use the website and receipt said it would be here within the hour. It was almost 2 hours when the food arrived and it was unsurprisingly cold. Very little meat in the chicken korma and chicken Tikka masala. Vegetable korma was mainly just potato. The breads and rice were great but the cold chips were inedible, even after we heated everything up again.

Well priced, good menu, quick service on Saturday evening, would return.

How you could call these prawns let alone king prawns on the restaurant menu I will never know! All the food was just full of onions to make up for the lack of meat and fish terrible food just onions and some sauce

Tasty meal out with friends last night at the Bengal Lounge. Staff were swift with everything and very friendly. We hadn’t visited for a long time due to Covid but we’ll visit again soon as we enjoyed the food so much.

Rude and Dishonest Staff We rang ahead and asked if we’re able to use two Tastecards for 4 people, we were told this would be no problem and so booked our visit. Upon arrival we were told despite them agreeing to 2 for 1 for four people (with the two tastecards) that they were only willing to discount one main and a side of rice. Had they originally stated this we would have gone elsewhere. Staff member serving us was rude and made us feel uncomfortable during our meal which arrived incorrect. All in all a poor experience and safe to say we won’t be returning! Worrying thing is it seems that they have been dishonest before regarding prices after reading some other reviews.

Pretty gutted.. this place was recommended by a friend who orders from here fairly often and said it was great. I actually ordered the most popular tikka masala which arrived watery, bland and quite frankly not very nice.. its got to of been the worst masala I've ever had.. I hope the restaurant stops watering down as I would like to use this place again next year. P.s the Mrs's food was good and the side orders were great. I would come back here if the masala was right.

What an incredible night. With BEAUTIFUL food and particularly great naan bread, accompanied by the most friendly and considerate staff. Syed especially went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and attended to throughout our evening.

Ordered food for 8 people for collection. My sister ordered over the phone and repeated the order back to the person on the phone. On receiving the order it was incorrect (food missing and extra food that we had not ordered and didn’t like) and...

Tonight we went back to this lovely little place for a birthday meal. We are staying near by and enjoyed it last time so wanted to come again. It didn’t disappoint. The food was so tasty, great value for money, large portions and the staff...

Meals really nice. Great menu selection. Knocked a point off due to some staff not wearing face masks. Just had them round neck. No NHS contact track and trace seen.

We made our second visit to the Bengal lounge on Thursday after visiting last year whilst on holiday. The food was still excellent quality. Lovely fresh ingredients and so flavoursome. Exquisite.

We dropped in as a family of 4, didn't need to book. Service was great and drinks and pickle tray arrived very quickly. Main meals were fantastic, not bland like a lot of other places. The naan bread was light and fluffy and every dish was packed full of flavour. We will be back to enjoy more items off the menu. No track and trace which I would have liked to see.
