Soju by Sumo in East Riding of Yorkshire

Latest visit, did not disappoint. Beautiful food and lovely staff. I over ordered and was able to take what was left home with me. Loads of choice for a veggie, with beautiful flavours. We loved this place, I was being treated, and as my host is blind, they could not have been more quietly accommodating. We would definitely go again! Accessibility: Heavy double front door and sharp right to the next not so heavy. Someone held the front one for us. Level entrance. Tables that can adapt for wheelchairs. Level entrance. I suggest a wireless dour bell which would help attract attention if needed. Toilet: Disabled loo, plus one other loo. Spare seats abd high chairs in the approach, I estimate a wheelchair could get through though. Car Parking: A number of disabled 3 hour spaces mixed with loading bays around the corner near ERY Council Offices. Otherwise usually fee paying Beverley Car Parks around the Town. Food: Yum, yum, yum, freshly made to order and just the right quantities. Veggie and vegan options clearly marked and detailed on the menu. As everything is made fresh, you can ask fir some changes. Pud: We were not going to have pud, but decided to share the Rice Pudding, 1st taste, one each! Staff: Excellent, friendly and Knowledgabke

Amazing Japanese fusion, ordered several Tapas plates and wasn't disappointed

First visit, was blown away by the food here.

Pan-Asian cuisine with an emphasis on small plates. Staff were great with our 5 year old grandson and the food was very nice; even the sushi I'm told by those who had it though not my cuppa

£52 for two lemonades & 8 pieces of single bite food! For £5 a bite I would have at least expected to be impressed with the taste and/or texture. These people should be taken to task under the trade description act. A complete rip off in my opinion. AVOID IF YOU VALUE THE £ IN YOUR POCKET.

Had the chefs surprise box oh gosh it sure was, 4 dishes all with one piece of food on, yes one piece not even a mouth full ! For £19.50, I mean come on, I have never felt so disappointed and ripped off, we waited half an hour for the food, that’s ok and it took less than 5 minutes to eat and that was nibbling!

Food absolutely amazing. Music a little too loud - despite asking for a quiet table. Don’t let the noise put you off. The food is fabulous!

Had lunch at this restaurant today. Superb Thai green curry. One day of the best I have ever had Be prepared to wait as everything is freshly cooked. Great service too. I will be returning even though I live 40 miles away.

Wanted something a little bit more special for lunch and a catch up and this did not disappoint. We ordered the signature omakase menu - this is chefs choice - every course is a surprise. This was so much fun and everything completely delicious and presented beautifully- there was even a bit of theatre when the waitress set one of our courses on fire at the table. Completely recommend and will be revisiting again very soon.

Family lunch for 6 of us, 2 grandparents, one adult and 3 children (ages 12 and 7). A first for the grandparents and children, who could have been daunted by the menu and choices, but a huge Thankyou to our kind, helpful and patient waitress Freya who guided us through the menus and made suggestions - we went with three set menus with a sharing platter starter, a chef sushi platter for the table and a small plate each for the children with a side order of Tokyo fries to share. That was plenty and lots of opportunity for children and grandparents to try the different dishes. The food was delicious, the service friendly and helpful, and having asked for a table with a little more space to accommodate my Dad’s walker, we were sat at a large round table with plenty of room. We had a wonderful meal and a lovely afternoon, Thankyou.

Wonderful international breakfast experience! This restaurant is always great to visit. We have been before for dinner and it was excellent on every visit. . Now, they are offering a breakfast buffet and they did not disapoint. A fresh cooked variety of dishes from all over the globe. All you can eat as well as speciality dishes on request. They have also cereals tea/coffee toast, scones, rolls and more on offer. The service is outstanding! Professional, friendly and very helpful! The restaurant in beautiful, which adds even more to the full experience. Highly recommended!

Very enjoyable experience for International Breakfast Buffet at Soju. Everything was fresh, delicious and served quickly. The staffs were polite, the place is spacious and clean, which is quite refreshing compared to many much smaller similar restaurants. Overall still happy and would definitely come back.

Beautiful food. This was our first experience of this restaurant and it did not dissapoint. The chef prepared a sharing platter for us. Half gluten free for me and normal for my husband. It was lovely. The main course was also very nice. The staff are friendly and the decor was modern/ contemporary. Loved everything about this place. Would highly recommend.

Lovely atmosphere at Soju by Sumo, took my girlfriend there for her birthday. Ordered some wagyu beef that tasted unlike anything i ever had tasted before. The desert, bubble waffle was fantastic too. Brilliant atmosphere and friendly staff. Worth the price!

Amazing place! Instead of a main meal we ordered starters to share, 2-3 per person is more than enough! Everything was great and tasty, service was excellent and the whole atmosphere was lovely. A bit on the pricey side but really enjoyed it.

Food was extremely overpriced and wasn't justified by the quality and taste. Generally quite bland Cool decor and nice atmosphere All style no substance Wouldn't recommend

Soju is an excellent place have visited several times and enjoyed them all, the small plates are my go to as you get to try a variety of different dishes the Soft Shell Crab is my particular favourite but everything so far has been good. Staff are attentive, friendly and helpful the cocktails are great it is not a cheap place but worth a visit great atmosphere and tasty food.

Lovely restaurant located in Beverly. Service was great, the atmosphere was great and the food was great. The menu could do with more to choose from. When it's £45+ per person I expect a lot to choose from! Staff were all friendly and professional, the food came in good time and the drinks menu had loads to choose from.

Had a lovely lunch Bento box. Very tasty and lots of different flavours and texture. Service was a little slow for a not very busy lunch time, but that may have been a one off. I would go again.

We went in early, ten minutes before opening actually, and were made so welcome. The surroundings are calming and the staff well informed and attentive without intruding. The food AWESOME guys. We will be back very soon.

Having booked for a table of 9, it was very disappointing that everyone meals were brought out at different times on both courses. With everyone finishing their meals before the final meal was even brought out. Food was like warm at best.

Underwhelmed and disappointed with the food. Poor quality, salt and pepper squid was some of the worst I’ve had and the katsu open sushi was super dry. Seems like had just been dropped in a deep fryer or something just to heat it up as came out quickly. Service was good, and it’s nice enough inside but certainly wouldn’t return for the food.

Not much you can fault with the whole experience. I would say the food presentation is up there with one of the best I've ever seen.

Visited Soju for my fiancé’s birthday and was so touched by the effort the staff went to. Waiting on our table when we arrived were two glasses of Prosecco with a beautifully decorated Happy Birthday. We had Vaida looking after our table and she was so friendly and attentive- 5 star service. The food (as always) was just delicious! We have been several times now and the food is always of high quality. We had the lunch menu- two courses for £17, amazing value for money. The restaurant is decorated beautifully which creates a great atmosphere- definitely an experience we would highly recommend.

Possibly the best restaurant I've ever been. The stunning atmosphere brings you right in and the food is the most fresh and elegantly prepared. If could only eat on a restaurant for the rest of my life, Soju by Sumo would be the one.

We had a great lunch yesterday! The staff were friendly and loved the decor! There were plenty to choose from the menu. We opted for the Bento box. The food came in good time and was fresh and hot. Loved the flavours! We will definitely return again and try the other dishes from the menu!

Thought we would try something different and wasn't disappointed it's an asian restaurant with tapas style food . The service was quick and the staff were friendly.

3rd visit. Fabulous 50th birthday for a table of 10. Staff and service were amazing. We had the bottomless brunch, main course and desert with unlimited drinks, service on the drinks was super fast and the waiting staff were very attentive ready to serve your next drinks. Food was amazing and very tasty. Lovely atmosphere and surrounding, a great experience for all.

2nd time I've had bottomless brunch here. And I can't fault it. The staff are very attentive and the food is amazing. Well worth the money. The cocktails are amazing.

For me as a traveler from Asia, lunch in this restaurant was very disappointing. very tiny portion and very expensive, I can say it's snack food not lunch. i will not come back again and not recommended.

Maybe because I've had the good fortune and good luck to eat authentic Asian food from the source (in the country of origin.) I can say this food is terrible, tasteless and vastly, no extortionately expensive for what it is, not to mention the tiny portions you get and I mean tiny to the point it's an insult. This is not London. Very disappointed. The service was adequate but only just, the staff need proper training in front of house etiquette, as they possess non. The whole experience was one that has compelled me to write such a damning review, as I usually don't bother. I would not recommend this restaurant at any level.

Great first experience. Team are super friendly and abke to talk through the menu which is great and rare in this day and age. The food was fantastic and also very reasonably priced. Some really good fusion dishes, cocktails on point. Decor fresh and vibrant and bustling atmosphere. Highly reccomend this place for anyone. Well definitely be back, I don't remember our servers name, but please thank everyone working on Thursday the 17th.

Overpriced - very good service from the majority of staff. Food however overpriced beyond what would even be seen in a central London establishment with the quality and portion size just not there. The 20 pound mixed starter box was absolutely appalling value and the only place where the service fell down. It’s contents are a mystery on the menu and when it arrived there was a quiet, fast and quickly rehearsed reel off of the 4 tiny dishes served with no time to ask for a repeat explanation before the server had gone. We were left eating mystery food which was average at best. Some of it just didn’t work either, a low quality taco shell mainly filled with lettuce and hardly any mystery meat (given we didn’t get an explanation as to what it was?). The concept of the ordering should be explained but wasn’t, we managed to deduce the pink items on the menu are mains but this isn’t labelled anywhere. The dragon fries and fried rice were excellent but other dishes like the open katsu sushi were horrifically small, 2 pieces for 8 pounds??? Never in my life have I paid such high prices for such low value sushi which ironically lacked any of the craftsmanship you pay for with sushi give it was merely all the components stacked atop each other. Won’t be returning and think this will be the case for a lot of people if they keep the quality of the food where it is, the location where it is and the prices through the roof.

We was excited fir thos place to open bein a asian food fan. We have been here for lunch nd coctails twice before and enjoyed it. However we went two nights ago and not impressed at all, the menu looks fab don't get me wrong but not value for money at all! Main dishes very small and at silly prices, quality of food has also slipped was very disappointed, was not wowed at all! Will not be back in a hurry and will not recommend going here. I would of rather of gone to the Westwood or tge other Japanese place in beverly. Bit sad really as we did enjoy the lunch menu and got more for your money then the evening meal. Staff was great and a young lad learning was very pleasant and could not do anought for you along with the girls.

Went to Sumo for a family dinner. All the food were nicely presented and delicious, reasonably priced too. The place is nicely decorated with a good atmosphere and the staff were friendly and attentive. Highly recommend.

Food was fantastic and the small plates arrived very quickly. The long wait for the pudding wasn't so great though. Also what wasn't so great was being sat at a table in the middle. Basically this should be a walkway not a dining area. Constantly being bashed by waiting staff made for an uncomfortable experience.

My son chose this place tonight for his 10th birthday and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. We were a table of 14, including 3 children. As a family who enjoy good food , I can honestly say it was perfect . They brought my son a birthday mocktail, and played/sang happy birthday when bringing his cake out. The two ladies that served us were lovely and very welcoming. The atmosphere, decor and service is brilliant. We will definitely be returning. Thank you

Great service and brilliant selection for a vegetarian, best Japanese style food I've had. The waitress was wonderful and made excellent recommendations. The tofu salad with orange miso dressing was exceptional and the vegetarian sushi was almost as good. I was almost sad to leave!

The cocktails are usually delicious here which is why I was so excited to have bottomless brunch. However the cocktails on the brunch are from a can... Despite the brunch being £40. If you're going, stick to prosecco. Other than that, it was lovely.

Great new Pan Asian restaurant with welcoming and attentive staff. Able to accommodate a dairy intolerance by adapting some dishes. We had the Omakase, which means the chef chooses each course, all of the food was delicious. Best to book ahead as walk-ins were being turned away.

Amazing food every time we've been. Special mention to Scott who dealt with some drunk and abusive customers with pure class and composure. A credit to the restaurant. He's served us the last 2 times we've been and is brilliant at his job.

Really lovely food. The rendang is AMAZING! My only feedback is, I feel the menu is a bit confusing. I think it should be broken up into smaller plates and sharing plates, as the difference in price in some of the dishes doesn't make it obvious. Thank you to the staff for being patient with us and letting us stay at the table. We had a great night and will definitely be back :)

What a gem. Beautiful food and fantastic service. It is pricey but that's what you pay for great quality and attention to detail. The interior is stunning! You're transported to another place just by stepping in the door. Also, best toilet facilities. I can't wait to go back for a special occasion!

The decor is gorgeous, The food was incredible however portions were small. The service made us sad as things were taken off our table as though we weren't to be trusted with... The daffodil? Or the chopsticks? Or the napkin rings Other tables were deemed safe to keep their daffodil Just made us feel judged and left a bitter taste especially as we paid a good £70 for two people in what would have been a lovely experience

Just been today for the 2 course brunch. Great welcome attentive service all through our lunch. The Korean chicken was so good, spicy and tasty. Pork bimipbap fairly authentic and tasty. Bottle of wine reasonable price. Great place for lunchtime, the brunch menu is good value setting pleasant and both ladies serving us knew their jobs. Not busy for a Friday.

Visited this restaurant for a late Christmas meal with work colleagues, the food is awful, very spicy and pricy. Nothing edible. I just didn't enjoy it at all. Everything smelt and tasted off fish, although nothing was off. it's just that reoccurring smell with all the foods. The toilets are miles away up many stairs at the back, and it smelt damp with very little light in the toilets. Don't recommend it. I won't be going back ever, total waste of money. The staff were very nice.

Stunning restaurant, very accommodating, lovely staff and even better food!

Would of been 5 star but the lady who sat us at our table was quite rude and abrupt. However the service from all other staff members was exceptional and they went above and beyond to make sure my brother in law enjoyed his birthday meal. The food was great but the omakase needs updating on the website as it says £35 and minimum of 2 people which is why we went in the first place however when we got there it was £40 and everyone at the table had to get it not just 2 people so that needs updating, because that could put people off. Frayah who took our orders was lovely very helpful and attentive. She really did make us feel welcome and that we were in good hands.

The food is Tapas style ordering, it is advised to order 2-3 dishes. We were a party of 4 each ordering a selection of dishes, it became comedic trying to fit the dishes on the pathetic size tables...poor design. The food was good, some dishes better than others, but after eating 3 selections, I was still hungry. No dessert options. The staff there are fantastic, friendly, warm, welcoming and tended to our every need, I can't fault them. I would return for the atmosphere and excellent service...but would order 4 dishes next time.

Nice food at a reasonable price in these pricey times. Only issue was being a bit patronised and talked down to by one member of staff.

Overpriced. Poor value. Good food, but tiny (tapas) portions, so 3 to 4 plates each, so expect to pay easily £50 pp. One of us requested white rice and we were charged the same as for fried rice... £7.50 for a kids' portion of white rice means we'll never go back.

Awful see trip adviser, confusing menu, expensive, pretentious, average and small portions. Surly staff. Too many good reviews to be believed as so many bad ones, must be posting these fantastic reviews themselves as so many people can’t be wrong about this terrible place. By the way wife was I’ll for days after eating the soft shell crab, can’t have been anything else because that’s all she had before we walked out!
