Roku exceeded my expectations, with phenomenal ease. This place is absolutely perfect for events of any kind, from a friendly reunion to an extravagant date night. The food truly is worth every penny; each bite was a little piece of heaven. The atmosphere was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced before. I would like to give a special thanks to Neave, who served us tonight, she really is one hell of an angel.

Always an amazing taste experience.

First visit and was fabulous. From the first moment we walked in until we left all staff were very friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. Chloe was our main waitress and she offered us lots of help when choosing our dishes. Food was exceptional. Will be back! Thank you!

We tried Roku for the first time as a group of 4. Food come but one out of the eight ( 2each ) never arrived. After a long while we asked where it was. It was forgotten about. After 10-15 mins the final meal arrived- after all the rest of the party had eaten I may add and it arrived wrong this time so this been the second mistake. They did say we would sort another but after well over a hour and still not recieving the meal we ordered I declined it and we left. No one once come to the table and asked how the food or our meals were which even basic pubs ect generally ask this or is there anything you need-drinks ect. The service could have been far far better from what is a high end restaurant. The waitress staff seemed very in experienced and not very attentive at all. The food we did have was nice but the whole experience was over shadowed by all the above issues. We was left a little frustrated

We had table of 10+ booked for a special family lunch on Sunday. The staff was great and very welcoming and dealt with the large table perfectly, they were also lovely with the children & baby, food was great and the restaurant decor is beautiful. Thank you!

First time visiting Roku, but definitely not the last! We received a warm welcome from a friendly and knowledgeable team. The venue itself was modern and fun with some great points of interest. Team were attentive throughout the meal and happy to provide advice and information about meal options and choices (special thanks to Naeve), without being overbearing. There was a wide range of food options and everything we had was fresh, plentiful and delicious. The drink selection was large and also delicious. We’ll definitely be back! Well done team!

My husband and I love Roku Asia and visit often. The quality of the food is simply outstanding - we are never disappointed! Our favourite Asian cuisine restaurant by far! The atmosphere is always calm & relaxing and the staff are always pleasant and helpful. Would highly recommend!

Amazing food and service. Riley was a perfect host!

The place looks amazing inside. Cool artwork on the walls and ceiling and nicely spaced-out tables. Friendly welcome and explanation of the menu. We ordered a few things to start with and then added some more. The rock shrimp tempura was very good. Perfectly cooked prawn and crispy topped with fresh chilli, an excellent start. The pork belly was very flavoursome, but the bones in it were a bit annoying, and it felt awkward to spit them out. Salt and pepper Calamari, delicious, well prepared, soft squid, crisp batter. Pad thai, my husband enjoyed, nice the prawns, but for me, it was too strong with fermented shrimp flavour. The Karage chicken pushed us over the edge of the fried things. It was bitter and quite dry, too, perhaps a bit overdone. The lemon gave light relief to the ‘fried-ness’ but we both weren’t keen on this dish. Chicken Satay was nice, but the sauce was extremely thick and rich/salty. The pork Katsu was cooked well but again fried.. I did take it home and enjoy it the next day once my fried pallet was cleansed. It was an enjoyable meal, but in hindsight, we should have thought more about what we ordered as we ended up with too many things that were ‘fried’ and left the mouth a bit greasy. I’d give it a go again but would switch up to a few more ‘fresh’ dishes.

Step through the doors of Roku Asia and you could be in any city, a fantastic escape and always spoilt for choice. The decor is beautiful and staff are so welcoming. The tapas style menu means you can really enjoy conversation between the group while sharing each beautifully presented dish as and when they arrive. We always find ourselves eagerly waiting to return for our favourite dishes, the flavours are perfection and it's very reasonably priced. We would highly recommend the karrage chicken and katsu pork along with all elements of the sushi bar!

Delicious food, beautifully presented by friendly & helpful staff, nice wine menu & very tempting cocktails. The decor is imaginative and quirky, with beautiful tableware. Great price to value balance so looking forward to our next visit.

We had a lovely meal here and let me say the food was very good. We enjoyed every dish we ordered. That said, the service was not as good. The waitstaff did an okay job, but the real problem was the slow trickle of dishes from the kitchen. Everything came out very slowly and with great delays in between. This was a week night and the place only had about 5 tables of customers. It couldn't have been more than 40% capacity. It took forever for any food to come out and when it did, it was only one person's dish. We then sat for at least 20 minutes with only one person having a single dish of food on the table. Then a second came out. Then 15 minutes later, a third and fourth dish. That was enough for everyone to start eating, but we were still short several dishes, which we had to ask for about 25 minutes later. It was clear to us that the problem was the kitchen. The dishes just weren't coming out. Maybe it was a bad day for the kitchen staff or some problem in the kitchen, but an apology and/or an explanation would've been appropriate. Because the food was so good, we'll give Roku another try at some point, but if this experience repeats itself, we won't be returning. UPDATE: Within 48 hours of posting this review, the owner of Roku Asia called my spouse on their personal cell phone to apologize, stating the kitchen staff was struggling with a new menu during our visit and they should have informed us of this. While I can appreciate that the intentions were in the right place, this approach was inappropriate and a violation of privacy. My spouse did not write the review; I did. The apology should have been directed to me, the author of the review and not to my unnamed and unidentified family member. The appropriate venue for any response is here on the Google review page.

Excellent food & service , our first visit , definitely be back soon with friends , atmosphere is a difficult one , our visit was on a afternoon, so the restaurant was part full, background music at a level were you could have a conversation which I always prefer

The new tapas style menu is excellent. The lunch menu is particularly good value with 3 dishes and a cocktail for £24. The food is delicious, very highly recommend the calamari, pork belly and venison gyoza. Service was friendly and professional. Excellent option if you're on Beverley.

We love this restaurant! We have now eaten here three times. The decor is lovely, the food is delicious and the staff are so friendly and helpful. It is a little pricey but worth it for the whole experience. They make great cocktails too!

Food was great the restraunt was amazing beautifully hidden away and decorated super super quick service amazing drinks alcohol and non alcholic cocktails drinks. Severs were really kind understanding with my parents parents. Loved it cant wait to come back!

Had an amazing dinner here with my partner, the food was lovely and the cocktails are also really good we tried quite a few! The staff were very friendly in particular the waitress serving us was super helpful and accommodating. Interior and decor is beautiful and the whole place is very well presented. Highly recommend and will be returning.

Came on a quiet evening however he food was to die for. Our Server Chloe was very attentive and helpful. A step down from Ogino but a step up for the food in Beverley. Immaculate and will be back Recommend the Pork Belly and Tuna Tartar

I went out for lunch today and tried a lunch menu that offered three plates and drinks for £19.5 per person. I chose two sets of lunch menus, which included pork belly, chicken satay, Bak Choy, fried rice, Ha Gow, sushi and Salmon Nigiri. For dessert, we had Mochi ice cream. The total cost came to £61.60 with service charge included. In my opinion, the atmosphere was beautiful and attractive, and the service was excellent and friendly. The food was presented well, but in terms of taste, I liked the pork belly, while my son enjoyed the chicken satay. However, the Ha Gow and Salmon Nigiri tasted a bit plain, while the fried rice was a bit salty. Overall, I think it's worth trying the new Asian flavours.

Fantastic food. We had the tasting menu which could be described as Asisn Tapas. Amazing fish and meat little dishes that keep on coming crowned off with 3 or4 mini deserts..superb. Quite funky decor inside and nice staff.

Fabulous venue, beautiful decor and exceptionally clean. Staff are polite and come across like they actually like to be at work. Food was delicious and from ordering our meals and us receiving them was very quick! We can’t wait to return!

There is a clear decline since it was Ogino, the menu is a shell of what it used to be, so many of great items have been dropped and seems like only the cheapest options remain, and the floor staff are running around like headless chickens its one thing to take on an apprentice, but you cant make up the whole team of inexperienced kids that have no idea what they are doing, the only positive is the actual food taste as they seem to have retained the same cheff, but the portions are a joke.

The place is great, nice ambiance and good staff. The food is only average though which is such a shame. Chicken wings need to be easy to get off the bone. The Pak Choi was impossible to eat with chopsticks as still on the stalk. There was something wrong with the pad Thai. It tasted very fishy and was dry and about 50% egg. It was just underwhelming unfortunately. The gyozas were good but other dishes not up to scratch. Disappointed as the pics look lovely.

The restaurant looks AMAZING! The service is good. The food is good..... however..... we opted for the tasting menu. A series of tapas style dishes brought out as nibbles, starters, mains & desserts. After the first few dishes the soy content started to become overwhelming. Soy, miso, soy sauce. By the time the mains came, even the Tsingtao beer tasted of soy. It seems the restaurant is still clinging on to the Japanese tag even though they now identify as Pan-Asian. There is so much scope to be truly Pan-Asian and serve dishes from the whole continent including hot, sour, sweet, spicy, fruity dishes. When our dessert platter arrived even the apple doughnuts tasted of soy. It's the morning after and we still taste soy!! The food was cooked really well generally but just an overload of soy! We would really like to return at some-point but the menu needs some attention

Visited last year not long after Roku opened & loved it! Love it even more after tonight 🥰 Everyone was friendly & knowledgeable, fab adjustments for gluten free. I get so excited when I can have batter. Sashimi salmon, tempura prawns, crispy soft shell crab, crispy chicken & wok fried egg rice all stunning. Excellent value, clean & comfortable. Thank you 😊

In my opinion, this is the best restaurant in Beverley. The food is varied and of the highest quality. The service is outstanding and price very good given the high food quality. Absolutely delicious. Strongly recommended.

Beautiful decor and atmosphere combined with an extensive menu and attentive staff made for the perfect anniversary dinner. The soft shell crab, pork belly and the amazing cocktails were a highlight. It wasn't our first visit and won't be our last!

We have been to Roku several times now but last night topped the lot. We had several dishes new to us as well as some favourites. They were all outstanding and the service was friendly and extremely efficient. Great value for money too! Won't be our last visit.

Great food! We have been when it was Oginos and had high expectations of Roku Asia and it definitely lived up to them! Really tasty food and a good selection of dishes. Highly recommend visiting here!

A couple of order mistakes but lovely food and staff very friendly

The person's review I read to say it was about the same level as Ogino must have no eyes and taste buds. The food was poor the Rice had so much ginger in it that we couldn't taste anything else on the table. The lights need to be re wired to stop them flickering. Will not be going back.

Great service by nice people, great food

Gorgeous restaurant with a fashionable but zen atmosphere, high quality food and cocktails (much better, and less expensive, than the rival “Asian tapas” restaurant in Beverley), knowledgeable staff. Would certainly recommend.

We had high expectations of this restaurant, however was let down by presentation of some of the dishes and ingredient. Ordered raki, poor amount served for £8.00 very expensive. Music in the restaurant not to theme , too loud pop music very off putting. Disappointed will not be rushing back. 😞 sorry guys think staff could be smarter too .

Great night at Roku with our goddaughters-took them so that they could try small plates of different food and it was perfect! The food is cooked to order so comes out as it’s ready but it’s perfect for sharing! The restaurant was busy but April did a great job waiting on the tables and Tom complemented her perfectly by working behind the bar serving the drinks! Looking forward to our next visit!

We had put off visiting as we had heard mixed reviews of Roku and we were really sad that Ogino had closed (our favourite restaurant in Beverley). Pleased to report that Roku is as good as, and in terms of service better, than Ogino. All the food is small plates and you need around 2-3 each (we would say 3 each but we do love our food!). There is a great selection of dishes including sushi, rices and noodles, vegetarian dishes and fish and meat. We loved it all but especially the tofu, pork and sushi. Service was very good and we thought the price reasonable - especially given the quality of food. Only slight negative was the choice of desserts and we were not very impressed with either the sticky toffee cheesecake or the passion fruit rice pudding - we used to love the ice creams so a bit disappointing that they did not have them on the menu - but apart from this it was fantastic and we will be going back regularly.

This was the first time we have visited roku and we were not let down. The food was absolutely amazing. April our waitress was very knowledgeable, attentive and friendly. We will 100% be back.

We celebrated our anniversary with the £55 taster menu - we’ve paid a lot more! Quality and taste of the food was excellent and there was nothing we didn’t like. Pork, sea bass, lamb, deserts for example amazing. We agreed, it’s the best food we have tasted in quite some time. Great vibe and excellent service too. Love it

Amazing sushi - as good if not better then ogino

Service, decor and initial look of the menu all amazing. Sadly food and quality of cooking didn’t live up to the same standard. Unfortunately it was very underwhelming and poorly executed. Both lamb and steak had been pre-grilled and then warmed up to order making the meat go a greyish colour and chewy texture. Also, meant was both cooked well done which shouldn’t be with fresh Asian style dishes like this. Grilled seabass very very salty - and I enjoy good seasoning on food. Tuna tartare whole dish very confused texturally. Raw tuna, browning soft avocado and soft apple pure - texture all too mushy. Batter on the soft shelf crab too thick and mushy instead of thin and crispy. Aubergine and duck fried rice were very nice. Cocktails were amazing though!

We booked for our 27th wedding anniversary as we love Japanese food. We have been before as a table of 4 but the service was very mixed up, so we thought we'd give it another go as a couple. We ordered 8 items from the tapas menu and although they state it comes out when it is ready we were left waiting for food to share. From the 8 items, we ordered a bowl of noodles and a bowl of egg fried rice to eat with the other items, but the rice was the last dish out, with all the other dishes gone. I ordered another cocktail for my wife that did not turn up after 15mins and the bar person was stood cleaning glasses (not busy at all) ... The experience of the night was understaffed, inconsistent food, hungry waiting for food and incorrect orders and has left us feeling deflated with the entire occasion. Subsequently, we will not be returning or recommending.

The first time dining at Roku Asia and it was amazing! Food was excellent and was such a lovely restaurant. Special mention to our server Tom. He went above and beyond and made our experience so special - he really is great at his job. We visited this restaurant with friends to celebrate a friends birthday but unfortunately we had a really poor experience and wouldn’t choose to return to this restaurant. We were disappointed as we really like the restaurant when it was Oginos but the food was nothing...

Amazing experience! We came in and had a few small dishes, shared a bottle of wine and had a few cocktails. Everyone who interacted with us was absolutely great! Special thanks to April for looking after us and Dominic for being so welcoming. Will definitely be returning frequently. Highly recommended!!!
