Excellent food lovely welcoming staff. We had a lovely evening. Luxurious decor combined with succulent chicken skewers made for a wonderful night.

I live in Malton and I recently had family visiting from Kenya and from USA. I booked a private function to celebrate my sister's 60th Birthday and having travelled from far, it was really important for me that my family had a good experience. Gemma and Kevin went over and beyond to make it a very memorable occasion for myself, my family and friends. The buffet was absolutely fantastic and all the food was fresh and delicious, and it was plenty. We all had a great evening and everyone really enjoyed it. We will definitely be returning, and would highly recommend this venue for private functions or just meals out.

We were two couples and had booked a table as we knew it is a very popular lunch time restaurant. It was quite busy but welcoming, with a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. We were served quickly and given time to check-out the menu while chatting to our friends. The delightful waitress took our drinks and food order which was freshly prepared and promptly served, delicious with great service and a jug of water provided. It wasn't hurried or rushed and nothing was too much trouble for them, I'd certainly recommend it to anyone with a good menu and service.

popped in on Tuesday with some friends for a meal there was a lot of choice and some nice specials, i opted for a steak baguette which was amazing with some chunk home made chips. i would highly recommend and i will be returning as will my friends. the staff and the décor are lovely and very inviting. see you all again soon

Feb 2024. It took 45 minutes for 3 paninis! The bistro was almost empty and still had a dreadful wait, wasting my lunch hour. There was no staff for 35 minutes and not helpful when one young lady did appear to gently speak to. I had a further 10 minutes to wait after asking when our snack would be ready sat at an empty table and then had to rush the food and escape. Very annoying, I just can't go again to this badly run business for this sort of treatment.

Excellent food good service and totally unrushed. Wine good too. Thanks Gemma and staff for making us feel welcome and providing totally homemade food coming from someone who does cook from scratch often I was very happy. We shared whitebait to start very tasty and for mains I had the hanging chicken scewers , friends both had sizzling chicken fajitas which they both enjoyed and hubby had Whitby scampi and homemade (not frozen) chunky chips. Sorry forgot to take photos too busy chatting 🤣.Very reasonable prices also 😊

We went here for dinner as everywhere else was very busy. It should’ve perhaps been a sign that this was one of the only quiet places in town on a Saturday night, and yet we held out hope. After sitting ourselves down, we ordered drinks and food. The young girl who took our order was very lovely, professional and polite. Unfortunately, the food took an incredibly long time to arrive, and when the starter did arrive my friend’s food was raw in the middle. This was an initial disappointment but we were determined to continue the evening, especially as we had invested a large amount of time in this place already. We then looked at reviews online and realised that other customers had had similar experiences. The main course then took a further 35 mins to arrive, and we had noticed at this point that the remaining two couples (who had been there longer than us) were also still waiting. We were then all served our mains at the same time. Our main courses were dry and tasteless and appeared not to contain ingredients they had been advertised with (or at least these ingredients had been used in incredibly slim quantity). We gently complained to the staff and they were polite, helpful and accommodating, particularly the younger girl who was on shift. I would not eat here again but I was impressed with the professionalism of the young member of staff.

It's lovely here. Food is great value. Service on point everytime. Decor is warm and welcoming. Atmosphere is cosy and warm. Definitely recommend.

Booked a table, came to have it all perfectly set out and with crackers which my children loved, plenty of food all cooked to perfection, and plenty of food also. The staff couldn’t be helpful enough and we really are looking forward to going back for the burns night.

Lovely visit to The New Derwent Bistro. We visited the new derwent on Sunday for lunch, a family of 4 who are all very picky eaters. We all chose to have Sunday Roast to which was cooked to perfection. My partner had the beef and I had the pork. My two fussy children had the chicken who cleared their plates. The homemade Yorkshire puddings were huge!! Desserts to follow… homemade baileys cheesecake was amazing. We will definitely be back.

Went for breakfast with friends. Service was terrible and the food wasn’t much better! They got the order wrong and then half the order didn’t arrive. We waited 35 minutes for coffee’s and toast. The quality of the Avacado on toast was not good - it resembled guacamole paste on toast (cheap Bread and no butter), the coffees looked nice but they were cold. Bacon butty consisted of 2 slices of processed bread, no butter and 2 slices of bacon.

Went in to try for lunch on a very chilly day. Lovely restaurant, a great selection for lunch! I had the steak sandwich, which was stuffed full with steak and cooked to perfection. My husband had their Derwent Burger and loved it! Definately will return ! The waitress was fun and helpful.
