Sonali Pocklington in East Riding of Yorkshire

Popped in spontaneously for a meal after being out for the afternoon. We were waemly welcomed by name, as always! It doesn't matter if it's been 6 weeks or 6 months or more, Billy always remembers us! Food was absolutely spot on, as always. Great service; we left with happy tummies! Thoroughly recommended!

We called in here whilst staying at KP Club for a golf tournament. What a great place, the service was fantastic and attentive, the food was superb, I'm so glad we chose to go into town rather than eating at The Glasshouse (The KP's own restaurant). We will have no hesitation in eating here the next time we play KP 👍

Visited just recently; food was excellent- very tasty, good portion size & hot. Service was great - really friendly & helpful. Definitely recommend eating here! Billy was very chatty & helpful & recommended which dishes to try. Very clean & comfortable - overall a great restaurant.

Best curry ive had in ages , had Silsila was very nice , head waiter is brilliant.

Been here a few times now whilst having a weekend break near by. Only downside is normally I'm too far away from this place or I'd eat here more. Portions are generous and food is excellent. Staff are friendly.

Was staying at a local holiday park this menu was left in lodge and highly recommended, thought I’d give it a try I called placed my order all fine only to realise when I hung up they hadn’t taken my address so called them back to tell them location was told to hold 2 minutes to then be hung up on this is bad customer service at the most I did not bother to call back as I was so anooyed

Chicken Tikka Khakri was superb on our latest visit.

Subpar experience! It is possibly one of the worst Indian cuisine restaurants I have had the misfortune to visit. Mediocre food(I had to go fishing for my chicken it was in the curry somewhere) lacklustre dining environment with rude and condescending staff! And way overpriced for what food you got! Give this one a miss. I had a better curry at weatherspoons the next day and a lot cheaper!

The food was “nice” but very expensive they added a 15% charge on to the food , . I would suggest the restaurant print a new menu with correct prices on . Also the restaurant was very cold at those prices you would expect to be in warm surroundings. Won’t visit again.

Great little Indian that I would highly recommend. The menu offers something that is a little bit different from other Indian restaurants. I had a really nice chicken liver curry which was so nice. Staff were really friendly and the service was good. I will definitely be eating here again.

Went yesterday for the Christmas special menu, the waiters were so lovely, very chatty and so friendly, the food was absolutely amazing and plenty of it. We will certainly be booking again for next year 😃.

One star is being polite. We booked a table for 11 people.we arrived 5 minutes early and were seated. Almost 40 minutes later we still had no drinks or any waitor to our table. We all felt overlooked as another table who came in after us were drinking and on their starters. We all agreed to put our coats on and leave. As the staff had ignored us we decided to ignore them and just leave without saying a word to anyone. This place had been recommended by many but left us all feeling very let down and very disappointed. Such a shame this would have been a 2 to 300 pound meal between us but we ended up at Frank's instead.

Popped in early on a Monday night lovely service, great staff and lots of people eating in there. Thanks for a lovely meal and evening. Very decently priced for the quality of food and great service too.

Wow, absolutely amazing, one of the best Indian restaurants outside of Bradford. Billy and the team made takeaways for 32 people in our little village. It was cooked to perfection, hot and great value. We cannot thank them all enough as it was a very tall order

What an amazing takeaway we had from Sonali. The prawn cream josh was outstanding and I’ve never seen it on a menu anywhere else, it was gorgeous. We placed a huge order and everyone enjoyed their meals immensely. Really reasonably priced too. Definitely recommend.

Thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Sonali last night; unplanned visit as we passed through - very much did not disappoint! The fish curry and Sag Paneer were particularly delicious. Our waiter was also very friendly and helped us enjoy a great relaxed meal. If we're ever in Pocklington again we'll certainly be back!

Terrible experience...We were a pre booked table of 10....1 HR 30 min wait for food !!!.... Impolite service !!... Starter courses forgotten !!!.... 15 % charge added to final bill illegally. When challenged they pointed out a notice on the wall saying 15% would be added. Prices on menu therefore incorrect, not informed of price difference.!!!...Abismal customer service. When food finally arrived it was acceptable....but by then most people were ready to leave for a bag of chips !!! This used to be an excellent place to eat, we always visited as table of 10 plus for many years. We used to recommend the restaurant to family and friends....not any more. Our previous visit wasn't Stella, but we put that down to a one off..... But this visit confirmed we will not be returning. At no point did management appear to address our concerns.... I suggest you do yourself a favour and stay away, unless you like Impolite waiters, a long wait for food and then being overcharged. !!

We all 4 had a good time the food was outstanding and the service great. We have been going there regular for the last 7 years and never had a bad meal. However this time the food was evan more outstanding, they have a. New menu but you still can get most of the old favourites. Lovely evening!!! Juergen Sander We had another meal there over the August Bank holiday. This time all five of us had to wait for along time before the food was served. However when the food was served it looked outstanding and the taste was out of this world. Everyone in the group stated how lovely the food was and the service to was great the waiters very pleasend. We all had a very lovely evening and our relations still were talking about the lovely food and how kind and friendly the staff all had been the next day. If you like Indian food give the Sonali a try, we will be back soon!!

We love this restaurant! The food is amazing and the staff cannot do enough for you. We are here weekly in the restaurant and never tire of the exceptional standard of the food and service we receive. A massive thank you to Taz, Acki (sorry if I spelt it wrong!🤦),Billy and the rest of the team.

Visited the restaurant Thursday night and pleased to say that all the food was absolutely delicious and possibly one of the best curries we’ve had.Service 10/10 from start to finish👍main waiter was quite a comedian which gave a great overall atmosphere. I have had takeaway from here previously and it's always been excellent so I thought I'd bring my wife here for our wedding anniversary. The food exceeded our already high expectations. We can honestly say it's the best Indian cuisine we have ever had! The staff are very friendly and helpful too. You will not be disappointed coming here for a meal.

Very disappointed in general, we were sat down then asked if we wanted a drink which we ordered and got. Waiter took our order then when it arrived my husbands meal was passed over my head to him and he was told take take which he did. I felt this was very unprofessional and have never been served like this before. I’m afraid to say that the food was not that great either so quite a lot was left I did mention why when they collected the plates, again expecting my husband to pass the plates over me, but it fell on deaf ears I feel. We asked for the bill then got 2 hot towels dumped down on the table and after 10 minutes we got up and went to the desk to pay as we were still waiting but a group of 8 who asked for their bill after us had been presented with it along with werthers original sweets and the card payment machine while we were still waiting. Once at the desk a bill was finally done and we paid then left. We had heard such good things about this restaurant and we were bitterly disappointed, hungry and £40 worse off. I’m afraid after this experience I could not recommend Somali.

Visited this restaurant with a friend for the first time on Thursday night. The food was amazing. Thanks so much to Billy the waiter. He really added to the enjoyment of our evening from start to finish. Bill was friendly, welcoming, good fun and extremely professional. Will definitely be recommending to family and friends. Waited two hours for disappointing food, the service was appalling, couldn't even get a jug of water and the staff just didn't even care, infact they even suggested we go elsewhere in future!!

I had recently been to another indian restaurant in Pocklington and had a terrible food experience and the Sonali is now my only go to place for Indian food. Thoroughly enjoyed my visit. I had a Phall which was very hot! (As it should be). The portions were great, amazing pickle tray that could have fed a family. Everything was fresh and tasty. Staff very friendly and knowledgeable about allergens. There were able to help me with Gluten Free straight away but did the menu make me aware there is a CC risk Great visit. Would recommend

With family over from Lancashire and elsewhere we had a great evening in Sonali. The food was excellent, Tiger beer served in a cooler? Nice touch. The best banter with staff that we have ever had at any restaurant anywhere on a busy bank holiday Sunday made for a very memorable evening. Thank you

It's not always about just the food (which was fabulous BTW!!!) A genuine warm and friendly welcome is what welcomed us as we stepped inside. We ordered take out then enjoyed a kingfisher in the garden. Beer was ice cold and refreshing. The curry was tremendous to be fair. A good portion size and of a quality to suit a Glaswegian. As always everything was spot on , the food is excellent and so is the service. They were really busy and yet they still maintained their very high standards. Thank you Sonali for making our night out into a great experience.

Absolutely fabulous meal, just love going to this restaurant every time we visit Pocklington, it's a must. The staff are fabulous, I love it. You will not be disappointed. Would highly recommend if you are in pocklington.

We were staying locally for long weekend decided to eat out at Sonali, so glad we did the staff were fantastic great banter which gave a great relaxed atmosphere. The food was exceptional in quality and price, 4 of us had different meals and everyone were not disappointed even had to take some home. So recommend this restaurant, thank you to all the staff for a great night out, keep up the good work.. not forgetting the chefs excellent cooking thank you to them the unsung hero’s of any restaurant. Will visit again when in the area.

Staying close by in Storwood we ventured into Pocklington for an Indian. I can honestly say one of the best meals we have had. Lovely greeting when we arrived and we were made very welcome throughout our meal by the server. All the food was freshly made and tasted absolutely fantastic. I would recommend anyone to visit this currys house. Oh and the council pop is to die for lol 😆

We tried Sonali as it was recommended to us, it was absolutely brilliant it's just a pity we don't live here but I would recommend it to anyone visiting the area, great tasty food and @ a very reasonable price 10/10 👌

Great takeaway on NYE, glad I rang up as soon as they opened. Extremely busy with constant phone calls for orders. Have visited the restaurant on a number of occasions; dine in & takeaway. Never had a bad meal. :-)

They were extremely busy tonight but staff were apologetic and so friendly, the food was brilliant as was customer service

We were here at New Year, & couldn't wait to come back, when we were next here on a visit. I recognised the lovely waiters, who were once again lovely and friendly. The meal was delicious & very reasonably priced. Will be back again next time we visit Pocklington.

Good food and service, but let down by a lax approach to health and safety during these times of pandemic. Not asked once to leave contact details and none of the staff had PPE.

Great speedy service, despite being very busy with phone orders, and table service.

I hate to leave a bad review, however our experience yesterday warrants it. After arriving on time to order our takeaway, we were told they were running ten minutes late. We left with our food an hour later, with no apology and no drinks offered. A real shame, as everybody understands delays, however we asked several times for an update and were repeatedly told it would be a short time period - "two minutes" for twenty. It was nothing an apology and a gesture wouldn't have fixed, but neither were forthcoming. Having eaten here several times we will not be returning.
