The best restaurants serving Default food in West Devon South West

Used to be the best Chinese food in tavi but it's really gone downhill. The black bean sauce tasted like it was made from gravy granuals or something. Don't think it's 'authentic' anymore

Came for some food tonight, one menu was a different price to what the person who charged me was using, they didn’t tell me this and just put it through, only because I could see the writing on his menu did I know he was charging me more, when asked he simply said (yh we haven’t changed the menus yet) very cheeky and very rude, i then had to wait over 30 muinets for my food which tasted absolutely disgusting, the guy cooking my food kept wiping his hands on himself it was just horrible, I would recommend not coming to this place!!!!!

Great food and welcome. Ham egg and chips was particularly generous! Garlic bread my favourite. Nicely decorated. Thanks very much.

Came for lunch with the dog after recommendation of nearby vet. Welcomed. Allowed to sit wherever we chose. Menu immediately available and specials updated. Quaint area at the far end with a few books on shelves and some white fairy lights strung about the ceiling. We were at the other end. Almost all customers pensioner couples and a two eccentrics sat as singles. We both went for specials. I had the odd sounding soup - cauliflower, brocoli, Stilton and Yarg, followed by my first ever circular veg lasagne and my partner the puff pastry topped chicken and leak pie. All these dishes were (and we were warned) much, much too hot - but we waited and although the lasagne had little texture all three items were tasty. With a pot of tea each the lunch came to approx £34 which was about right. I’m not sure we would have taken the place as being arty (maybe they have evening events?). The high level vent in the lavatory was blocked by dust and fluff; and the varnished surface of our, and the other tables we could see had a crinkled and rough surfaces, giving the impression that they were wet and or sticky which they actually weren’t. Don’t like even low level gripes but surely this business could spend a short time vacuuming those vent, sanding and putting a fresh coat on the table tops and most importantly showing the kitchen how to send out food and edible temperatures. The two servers who dealt with us were very friendly, informative and helpful. This place is nothing special but we had a good lunch and I dare say we could not have had a better one in any other Okehampton cafe.

Nice friendly little pub , they are only open in the evenings now i believe but it’s still early in the season . we were staying in the caravan park down the road so was just perfect for us . when we arrived we had a lovely welcome landlord and landlady both lovely . We ordered some food and drinks all were very nice , not cloudy as previously mentioned on here . yes the pub is a little dated but it’s an old pub . we went on a friday evening and the car pack was packed so it can’t be that bad as previous review stated !! !! will definatly return .

We stayed in the cottage suite which was exceptionally clean and tidy and beautifully presented. The host is friendly and helpful. Me and my wife will be returning.

My first visit…. Absolutely delicious, I’d just been saying how much I fancied a Pizza Hut, as I’ve not had one in years! Gotta say, you guys knocked that outta the park 🤤

My first time staying at a Wetherspoons and the rooms were spotless, thanks to the house keeping staff going beyond. I think the lady’s name is Sarah who runs this team and she runs a tight ship, really well done! All staff are lovely and a great vibe !

The food has always been great, delivery on time very reasonably priced for the portion sizes I've recommended them to several friends and always had positive feedback

We had Sunday lunch here in May 2025. The service was a bit slow, but considering they had a large coach party at the same time, it wasn’t bad. The welcome was warm and friendly and the waitresses were efficient. The starter of salmon marinaded in beetroot was very nice and refreshing. My hake, asparagus and new potatoes meal was lovely, husband enjoyed his sirloin but found it a bit weird to have stuffing with beef. If you like a traditional old hotel with dark wooden panelling and a pianist playing nondescript music in the background, then this is for you, but I am afraid it wasn’t to our taste. We particularly didn’t like the numerous paintings of hunting scenes, perhaps they could be replaced with landscapes of the era?

Tenía un raro pocas horas sin los niños y decidimos comer aquí, que fue nuestro primer error! Pedimos nachos como entrante para compartir y un par de hamburguesas trajo toda la comida juntos!! Así que las hamburguesas estaban ocupadas. Llegaron de nuevo cuando habíamos terminado nuestra entrada, el mismo que había sido mantenido hamburguesas "calor". Los bollos de hamburguesa eran hard rock de estar bajo el sol. Cuando pregunte si eran las mismas, "por supuesto! Fue culpa bares y no nuestra!" llegó la respuesta. La comida entonces apareció de nuevo, sólo cálido, en este momento, tuvimos que salir a recoger a nuestro hijo. Cuando el servidor me preguntó si todo estaba bien, me dijo que estaba fría, él farfulló algo mientras caminaba! Es realmente pobre.

Food is ok but please don't make plans to visit unless you are staying. This is now a B&B and you cannot eat here if you are not staying. Please note it is no longer a pub or Restaurant

We ordered a takeaway which we enjoyed. A couple of years ago we thought this restaurant had gone downhill but now the food seems better.
