Regularly Get a takeaway from Jasmine, don’t know if it’s been taken over, but the last year the food has been Delicious, all dishes were tasty, friendly staff. Highly recommend

Ordered vegetable Singapore noodle, cam with chicken, beef and prawns ! Won ton dumpling had next to No chicken in them and chips where very dry. Shame used to be very good chinese.

We ordered and collected to find out the menu online was out dated and prices had gone up alot? And the food was terrible would not really recommend and will not use again

Absolutely disgusting over prices for starters, nearly 4 pounds for prawn crackers what? The special fried rice and meat was saturated in water? And the barbecue sauce was like tar and like jelly . One mouthful and in the bin . Waste of money and I'd rather pay the extra in fuel to go to plymouth from now on.

Moved to Plymouth from North Devon over a year ago and been really disappointed with the standard of Chinese takeaways until finding Jasmins. Wife had sweet and sour prawns Cantonese style and I had the crispy shredded beef. Both absolutely outstanding. Will be collecting from here from now on.

THE BEST CHINESE YOU WILL HAVE. PERIOD. Tried many others and nothing even comes close. Even plain noodles are so tasty. Can’t recommend it enough really don’t understand all these negative reviews!!!

One of the worst chineese meals I have wasted my money on. Two rice dishes which were bland and soggy, the sweet and sour chicken was just about ok. No rice to eat it with so it’s all gone in the bin. Order was for collection which I was on time for, 10 min drive home and food was Luke warm. Not had a takeaway from here in over a year and the last one was the same, thought it might have improved since then. Seemingly not.

The family chose Jasmins for my grandaughters birthday meal. We chose the "all you can eat" option which offers great value, with children under 10 at 50% of adult pricing. Staff brought over a large selection of starters to begin the meal and then our selections of main dishes and side dishes. 10 of us all shared the various dishes which provided a lot of variety and choice all of which were very enjoyable. The available time for the meal is 2 hours and once eaten you may order additional dishes should you feel the need. We didn't as there was plenty of food for all. A choice of either coffee or ice cream is available for desert. A nice evening with nice food and good value.

THE SWEET WAS A JOKE, ICE CREAM OR COFFEE - I HAD THE COFFEE BUT LEFT IT AS IT TASTED LIKE CAMP COFFEE, THE LIQUID COFFEE IN A BOTTLE THAT WAS ABOUT WHEN I WAS A KID - A LEFTOVER FROM THE WAR THAT WAS MAINLY CHICORY. The best Chinese around! Myself and a friend came to the restaurant to sit in rather than take away, the food is amazing! The lamb was melt in your mouth and it was all beautifully presented. It is a little pricey, probably the most expensive Chinese I’ve had locally but completely worth it! Staff were all really lovely. It’s worth noting it cash only too. We will 100% be back.

We went for a meal at Jasmins last night. Not been for a long time since it changed hands and it was lovely. Restaurant looked lovely but the food was the star! The lamb dished ( we had the Mongolian lamb and Lamb in honey sauce ) was the best we’ve ever had - we will Definitely be back - thank you

I swear this is the best chinese in the south-west. We have given up trying to find similar quality near where we live, so wait until we are visiting the area near Jasmins

I was anxious about ordering from here again after the lockdowns because there had been such a deluge of bad reviews. However, after sticking my head in the door to pick up a menu, the smells of the food and the helpfulness of the staff seemed just as good as before, so we went ahead. I'm very happy to say that the food didn't disappoint. I had been worried about excess sauce etc (a strong sign that somewhere is struggling) but everything was just right, with lots of meat in the chicken dish, and lots of pork and beef in the others, all of which were very tasty and had just the right amount of softness or crunch where desired. Lovely flavours, and a great relief to know that we've got a good takeaway nearby, which will save us a few miles of travelling! We'll be using them again :)

My boyfriend ordered some takeaway food for us this evening. He specifically asked about vegan options, clearly said no dairy & no egg on several occasions. Only while tucking into my veg fried rice did I find it had plenty of egg in it. My partner ordered noodles & got egg noodles. I am aware the noodles at takeaways are generally egg ones but he didn’t think when ordering and after stating our dietary needs he should have been warned by the man. They also gave us a bag of prawn crackers. We don’t expect vegan ranges at a small local & we expect only to be able to order plain food, but total disregard for dietary needs is unnerving. I have been vegan for a long time & upsets me that I just ate egg, but if this had been an allergy it could have been devastating.

Partially liquified and mouldy cucumbers with our pancakes and duck. A refund was refused because we wouldn't return the duck as kids were hungry and everything else would have gone cold on the return trip. Very poor quality and poor customer service. We will not go again.

We have had a few takeaways from here now, and they have been really tasty. We thoroughly recommend Jasmins for consistently good food.

Recently moved and was worried where to order or takeaway. We had eaten in the restaurant and enjoyed the food so tried the takeaway. All I can say its amazing did not disappoint. I pre order its always ready when we arrive piping hot and tastes amazing. Staff are lovely.

Always visit this Chinese when visiting Dartmoor. Takeaway at present so if you ask they supply extra bits so you can eat out. We eat at the old airfield. Lovely scenery and excellent food and great friendly service. Thank you

have been coming here for years. its a lovely chinese restaurant which you can have buffet or just choose from the menu. lots of different choices of food for all tastes. friendly staff and nice walks around the pub if you feel like walking before or after. definitely recommend this restaurant

Had an absolutely fantastic takeaway from here last night one of the best I’ve ever had anywhere. It was quick, staff where very friendly and the food was hot and tasted absolutely divine.

We arrived and ordered drinks which arrived in good time. We placed our order and the food arrived quite quickly. It was all lovely and tasty, no complaints, and it is not that expensive for a meal out. The staff are always pleasant. Looking forward to returning again soon.

Not very nice food although the staff were lovely i cant say the same for the food !! I wasn't even sure the chicken was chicken, lamb was very very fatty, im not sure we’d go back at all, overall rather disappointing.

Just had a takeaway meal for 2 and it was disgusting! Food tasted rubbery, not fresh, like it was heated up in a microwave. Aa e your money don't get a take away from here!!

We have never been here before but it was handy for a family takeaway for 9 people with my elderly father-in-law. True, this would not have been our first choice , but the one we know ( we are not local ) wasn’t open that day so we were feeling a bit stuck until we found this one on line.Have to say we thought the food was really good, and they were so helpful by boxing it up for us as we did buy rather a lot! All the family enjoyed it, so nothing to complain about.My only comment would be that it would have made our lives a bit easier to have the menu on the website. We worked around that though so thank you for good food that” made “ the family get together, and made an elderly man very happy.

Had a take away, worst we have ever had. We used to use this place a lot but haven’t visited for a couple of years. Some of the food was over cooked, none of it was very nice. Won’t be going back, there are other better Chinese restaurants and take aways in Tavistock. Really disappointed to have to write something so negative.

The food is delicious and plentiful, especially at £20.80 for all you can eat. It's incredibly fresh and very tasty. Staff were brilliant and attentive, we've been there two weeks in a row and both times it's been excellent. Highly recommended.

We’ve been here a few times now and each time the food and service has been to an outstanding standard. We had the all you eat menu at £17.80 per person. We tried our very best to eat a little bit of everything but it’s simply impossible. The staff are always checking if the meal is ok and if there’s anything else they can get you. You can literally have as much food as you like as they will keep on bringing it out. Cooked fresh to order aswell Unlike the buffet style all you can eat restaurants where the food could have been sat there for ages drying out with everyone touching it. Can’t recommend this restaurant enough. We will be back.

Haven't been here for years (mainly because we felt our meal was very rushed.. different waitresses kept coming over asking us if we'd like to choose our next course).What a contrast tonight we had a lovely meal, VERY nice polite attentive staff (males) without being pushy.Would definitely recommend & will go back again. We arrived early and given our table.

This Chinese has the monopoly on yelverton and this is reflected in the prices. Having thrown away the past two takeaways due to chicken tasting so bad it made me wonder where it was from (gulp!), and eating less meat these days anyway, we opted for vegetarian dishes. The mixed veg dishes seemed very like frozen mixed veg (diced carrot anyone??) added to their usual sauces. The next time we ordered we chose (main dishes of )stir fry broccoli, and a mushroom. We expected the usual Chinese vegetables to be included. They were not. It was literally just broccoli, and mushrooms, in a sauce. Who (the hell) eats an entire plate of broccoli and rice??! Yawn. This place has gone down hill in recent years in our opinion which is a shame given it’s the only Chinese in yelverton. They need to make more effort if they want to stop their regulars from traipsing to Tavistock for their takeaway.

We try and go every week, we just love it there . The owners are lovely . Young lads there who serve are sweet . And polite , the food is quality . excellent. One of my favourite places to eat , compliments to the chef .

We used to love this place but something has changed. The starters were bland with everything tasting the same. Mains were small and uninteresting. Staff did not seem bothered we were there. A very expensive night out for underwhelming food. Shame.

Almost one year I wrote a review of this restaurant which I headed 'Don't believe all you hear', due mainly to having heard some fairly negative remarks regards quality of food, service and generally poor experiences. Since posting my comments last year, my wife and I have been back on three occasions as a couple and twice with our friends. We all agree that the food is of high standard, piping hot and served relatively speedily considering the number of different dishes we chose. To be fair, the evenings we have visited Jasmines have been most enjoyable. A friendly welcome coupled with a willingness to serve on each occasion we have dined here has resulted in an enjoyable evening out, and we shall certainly be returning again in the not too distant future. After using Jasmines for 6 1/2 years, for our take away it will be the last time we order from there. Tonight was the worst meal we've ever had. There were more mushrooms and very little else in the way of other vegetables. A lot less meat than there was a couple of months ago. The special fried rice had stuck to the wok and burnt. The curry sauce recipe must have changed, it didn't pour from the container as it was congealed . I threw 3/4 of my meal away as inedible.

Been going jasmins for nearly 20 years with my family,for birthday celebrations.

We have been to Jasmine's many times and the food is always excellent and the service friendly and efficient.

So disappointed. I've never had such a disgusting meal. Thought I'd play safe with a sweet and sour - batter was so stodgy and the sauce a lurid colour with no vegetables just a sticky glutinous gloup. Bring yourselves into the 21st century your customers are much more discerning than you give them credit. Won't be back

The restaurant is located in a small group of commercial premises, in a quiet road slightly off the beaten track with ample parking either side of the road. Access into the restaurant may be a little difficult for those with a mobility issue and almost certainly for those in a wheelchair.

I used to go here a lot for takeaways when my daughter lived at home. So I was somewhat disappointed when I went recently. My triple roast was lukewarm and dry and the egg fried rice was tasteless. I believe the owners have changed since my previous visits (a few years ago now) so that has probably made a difference. Not as good as before.

The food, service and prices were great! Each dish was flavourful and fresh. Was greeted in a friendly manner. Will definitely make this a stop on every visit to Devon.

This place is my mother in laws absolute favourite... and I can see why! We always go in for the all you can eat menu, it's very delicious! Fresh portions every time you order, and no food is too much BUT they also like you to finish your food so there is no waste, which is very eco friendly. We always feel comfortable, and love trying all the dishes that we may not normally order. Will always visit for celebrations of any kind, it's our favourite for birthdays!

We recently had a take-away from this restaurant and was very disappointed. I had King Prawn with Spring Onion and Ginger. I thought the spring onion was still raw and had not been cut finely enough, as was the ginger. Which you expect in a chinese food. There were a lot of onions in this dish. My son had the Jasmine Special Chow Mein and had one bit of each meat. He said it was overpowered with vegetables and noodles.. We had a starter of BBQ ribs which were lovely as was the hot and sour soup but the spring rolls were 4 cocktail size ones. Overall the portions were small. We paid over £30 which was a lot of money for what we received.

Missed items off a £60 takeaway order. This should not happen when you spend this amount of money. When we phoned up after getting home the manager was extremely rude on the phone and hung up. Food we did get was not great either. Steer clear of this place and go to tavistock would be my suggestion.

We had the all you can eat menu which had very few starters. No crispy duck and pancakes on it which I have always seen at any other all you can eat that we have been to. The food was very bland and really not good. The service was great and both the waiter and waitress were lovely. Felt very rushed though. Buffet City is better.

We had not visited this restaurant for some time as we had heard some rather negative stories of others experiences after new management took the reins a while ago, however my wife and I with our friends with whom we dine out with from time to time decided perhaps we should try it out for ourselves and make our own conclusions. On arrival we were greeted by a very pleasant young man who showed us to our table and took our drinks order. All four of us opted for the 'All you can eat' menu, each choosing a different dish and side order so as to basically share the dishes. There is some 50 different dishes (including sides) on this menu which is quite fairly priced at £15.80. You are quite welcome to order further dishes, although it is preferred further orders are placed when the food already served is finished or near finished. With the variation of our 4 mains, and 4 sides, it proved to be a very enjoyable meal, and enough for all of us. The food was tasty, and above all piping hot (which was not always the case on some of our previous visits when the business was under different management). Regular check backs were made to ensure we were happy with our food, and also to check as to whether we required further dishes from the menu, and all in all, a thoroughly enjoyable dining experience. Whether the current management were at the helm at the time we were hearing of some very negative stories from others I don't know. If so, I can certainly confirm things have changed for the better. If not, then from our personal experience on our visit I can safely state that our whole dining experience was first class, and based on our recent visit, I would have no hesitation in recommending those who I know have had a bad experience, give this restaurant another try. For myself, the missus and our two friends we had an absolutely first class evening, and will be looking to return the next time we decide to have another 'run ashore' Well done Jasmines, keep up the good work !!

Ate here while working in the area. We went for the all you can eat type meal instead of from the menu. It was very limited and not that nice. Wouldn't go again. The actual restaurant and staff seem friendly but the food was not that nice.

Worst restaurant I have been to! We have a little baby so a date night is externally rare; how unfortunate that we picked this whole to go to!

This takeaway is my favourite but I can not ignore the amount of money they have swindled out of me over the last 5 years because of me paying by card - card payments are charged at £1. Now that the law has changed and they can no longer do this every time I order on the phone they say they only accept cash.

This has got to be one of the best places I have ever had a Chinese from. The quality is really good, the food is made to order and tastes really fresh. The restaurant gives off a warm feel with good decoration. I love a good Chinese and every Chinese takeout/restaurant always adds their own touch to the food they sell and sometimes it can taste unpleasant and other times really nice, this restaurant adds its own taste and it works well. This is so far my favourite restaurant to go and eat Chinese. It is a bit of a journey to this place but it’s worth it. Would most likely be visiting again soon and would certainly recommend.

Alojarse en Horrabridge, que está a 5 minutos de la carretera, y negándose a punto en blanco a dar valiosos tiempo lento por cocción, encontramos este para llevar después de un folleto se cayó la parte trasera de nuestro Lodge Bienvenido Carpeta pack.

Hubby and I eat here frequently, and it's our favourite Chinese restaurant since moving to Devon two years ago, nothing in Devon compares to the standard of food here, well in our opinion anyway :) we have tried numerous Chinese take always and restaurants and have been disappointed everytime, but here we have never had a bad meal, food superb and they do make changes to items if requested. They have eat as much as you like or standard menu, we always do standard for us we can't eat all they give us and we like certain dishes with a change every now and again, though we do our best to eat it all but you get good sized portions of hot cooked fresh food.

Returned to Jasmine for the first time in many many years, Glad to see they still had the all you can eat menu and it hasn't changed at all. The table we had was a little small for four people but as it was not overly busy we had room to spread out. One word of warning, if your over six foot there's a lot of ducking involved.The food was a mixture some dishes were very nice, some were just ok and a couple were not so good, Satay mushrooms well overdone. King Prawns were cooked to perfection, shame there were only four of them in the dish. Dish sizes were on the whole pretty small but you can order again and again at no extra cost. Service was fairly good and the waitresses were helpful.

This place appears small and unimposing from outside but is really quite spacious and pleasant inside. If you like Chinese food you will find a good choice here.Staff are pleasant and helpful.

We were a bit sceptical about coming here after reading the reviews but have to say the food was good (and hot) and the service excellent. I also noted how busy the takeaway side was so can only assume there's little to complain about there. We will be back :-)

Unfortunately the last 3 visits here have resulted in me getting home with the wrong order or food missing from my order! This results in me having to go back to collect missing food or replace the incorrect food with no offer of a replacement meal meaning I have to end up paying for the privilege of a cold meal! Will not be using again

This is a really lovely little place! We were booked as a table for 8 at 8pm, greeted by lovely smiling faces, made to feel so welcome....seated at top end of restaurant, lovely and warm, but told we could switch the wall mounted fans on if it got too warm.... The wait for courses was quite acceptable....after all, everything is cooked fresh, and so worth waiting for!! Delicious!! Every dish was fresh and hot, will definitely be back.....soon!!! Sad to say but food is going down hill. Not as nice as used to be. Still ok but not special anymore.

We like the package of a choice of dishes for a reasonable fixed price. Food is freshly prepared and distinct flavours. Need to advance book at weekends.

Went here for a special occasion - there were five of us and we booked a table (need not have bothered as it was empty). We ordered the mixed starter platter which was all deep fried, tasteless and covered in some pink sauce that was like sweet vinegar. The main courses did not fair any better as they had no taste and were also covered in a pink slimy substance. As a whole this was very disappointing. To make matters worse the young man who served us was extremely rude and certainly did not want to take our order. He was obviously trying to avoid us and any contact with us and did not even clear the plates when taking a drinks order even though we had finished. All in all a very poor evening all round and to top things off they do not accept credit cards which we were not made aware of before going which was ackward. We will never be going back. If you do decide to visit this restaurant i suggest you wear a thermal jumper and socks as it was freezing.

Have eaten in the restaurant and the food far outstrips the surroundings which could do with a good makeover.

Saturday 7 January 2017. I made a phone order at 6.30 for 7.00. I was told they could not do 7 but could do 7.10. I therefore arrived at 7.10 to find a restaurant with only one table occupied (on a Saturday?) but a takeaway area full of very unhappy customers indeed. Some had been waiting since 6.30 and were very irate. Eventually I caught someone's attention and asked how long it would be. "It could be 9pm". This is crass incompetence since their excuse was that they were short of staff. They must have known this when I phoned and therefore should not have taken a booking they know they could not fulfil. It is a shame since this place used to be very good but this is by no means the first time this has occurred. It clearly needs competent management which it does not have. Never again.

Been going to this place for over 15 years and always loved the food. I was back for the Christmas holidays and excited to have my favourite take away as a treat. Ordered over the phone at 18.35pm and was told the food would be ready at 19.20pm. Arrived to collect order the find four other people waiting for their food, restaurant was half empty. Two people walked out ahead of me, cancelling their order. I asked when the food would be ready and was told 20.00pm, asked if they could guarantee the time and was told 'no we can't guarantee'. Completely gone down hill and really didn't care. So sad as this was such a great restaurant with great food but the service is appalling. Better to go to other places in Tavistock.

It is a small quirky restaurant with absolutely amazing food and service. Recommend to anyone! I love the food and drinks and it is an affordable place to take your family. You can pick to do a selection rather than specific meals which is great especially if you want to try new foods and if you don't like it they do not get offended. Great for getting kids to try new food. Can never beat an all you can eat

Visited 2 nights before New Year's Eve so unsurprisingly it was quiet with one other family. Food reasonable but not great. Service good. Card machine wasn't working so we had to use cash but they had warned us of this when we booked

We have been going here for the last 7 years , and the new owner and staff are very friendly and always make us feel welcome . The food is fantastic never had a bad dish out there and we go twice a month . And even when the place is busy never had to wait to long for our food

All the staff were rude and didn't care about us but in particular a young blonde waiter was awful. He blatantly spat in the food and even called my 90 year granny a fat old slag

Went to jasmine with a large group of friends , food was good, but had a huge issue as the bill was worked out, one of the couples had there own bottle of wine, we've all been to places and payed a couple of pounds for uncorking, but £14,95, After a long debate we did manage to get it reduced.Hang your heads in shame. I for one will never come again.

Havant eaten here for a while ,so decided to take my mother for a treat as it had always been lovely.What a let down restaurant was pretty empty for a friday night which should of been an indication as usually it is heaving,The food was all you can eat so we ordered starters which came out in about 25 minutes ,was ok but nothing like before,Then we orderd a chicken rice and chicken satay the satay tasted like chicken stock and flour not appitising at all ,so we kept rice to one side and ordered some duck .My mum ordred some mussel after about 20 minutes the mussels were brought out and the waitress I would say about 390 pratically threw them on the table without a word ,,,so very rude not even a smile.another 19 minutes had passed ,,So 30 minutes in all and we were still waiting for the duck to arrived I called the younger waitress over who apoligised and said the staffing was low .It was Friday but it was hardly busy I explained to her that the rice which was still waiting on the tabled to be eaten with the duck was now stone cold ...It wasnt her fault and she came back and said they coud replace it but to be honest after more then 40 minutes waiting our appetite was gone .This place use to have such a lovely atmosphere to it and heated food trays were placed on tables to keep food warm ,It is now a most unwelcome establishment and I felt sorry for the two younger girls who were serving .Sorry but we wont be returning Im sure this place has to be under new managementt

Suggested by a friend, this restaurant is tucked away in some of the back streets of Yelverton. It looks like a small restaurant from outside but it opens up to the back into a very large dining area with lots of separated tables so you can be in either a large or a small group and maintain a degree of privacy for your evening. The service was fine and the food was excellent.

One of the better Chinese restaurants around ,perhaps could do with a little background music we shall definitely visit again

we used to go to this resturant several years ago but had'nt been for some time so decided to take my wife there for her 60th birthday party with the rest of the family.We arrived at 7pm ordered our starter at 7-15 plus drinks then just sat there waiting,waiting and waiting untilour starter arrived at 8-15pm.We were sat at the front of the front of the resturant by the main door and had to endure a constant stream of customers coming to collect their takeaway meals.whilst waiting for our meal we were asked several times by the young man at the bar if we wanted any more drinks,obviously thjis is where they make a lot of money from.There was only two young females serving tables with one constantly leaving to serve the takeaway customers.there was eleven in our party and when our main course eventually arrived at approximately 8-30pm the waitress just dumped the plate with all the different meals on at the end of the table saying "you all know what you ordered" and disappeared into the kitchen.We considered this service to be very unprofessional and certainly not good for repeat business.My daughters complained about the very poor service and aftersome considerable time they managed a discount off the final bill which was'nt the aim of going there but was ritchly deserved.

Had a lovely meal in this restaurant. Haven't been in years. There was excellent vegetarian options. We eat way too much :) The staff were very attentive and was great service. Only Criticism was the rude table next to us moaning about the coke being flat. Felt the customer made a song and dance over nothing. They demanded to see the coke bottle as he didn't believe they had just opened it. It's a shame to see a grown man be so rude to a young waitress who probably was only a few years older than his son sat at the table. God help the staff when they had ordered their food!! No pleasing some customers.

Wednesday in July, family member birthday, four adults eating, remember it being pleasant a couple of years ago. When walking in it felt like we had entered someones house without knocking ! Guess it didn't help by the "meeter greeter" doubling up for answering the phone for takeaway orders. Eventually shown to table and it felt like a 1970s front room. In short food was not exciting but pleasant, service felt as if we were disturbing the staff (very little interaction) and final bill higher than anticipated due to very expensive drinks. Couldnt say Id go again to dine however have had a takeaway since and food was fine.

Mixed feelings about this restaurant - the service was very prompt - the restaurant wasn't particularly busy but there was a constant queue for the takeaway side. The waitress took our very large buffet order - the starters were a bit limited for non meat eaters - really only one item - a little more choice with the mains but with the buffet menu you could only order one item from each section at a time so this felt quite limiting. Further dishes could be ordered afterwards but a extra charge would be levied for wastage. This made the flow of the meal feel very staggered, with the menu having to be requested again as it kept being removed from the table. The drinks were expensive and limited choice. The food was received with mixed reviews - lots of sweet and sour sauces and similar flavoured sauce on non sweet and sour dishes - the duck and potato skewers were apparently very dry with little duck meat. The fried rice was ok and the prawn dishes satisfactory. We had a nice evening but mostly down to the family time we had, not the food. The takeaway menu is extensive - a point my nephew made, who is 12, that there should be more choice in the buffet as they could be cooking it anyway for the takeaway customers. The highlight excitement for my young nephews was a dead fish floating in the fish tank next to our table - we mentioned it quietly at the end of our meal but these things do happen but it could have been quite upsetting. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Not sure if we would return as it was an expensive experience.
