Poor food and sizes, massive price increases, use to be good

19.30 hadn't pre ordered, couldn't pay cash wouldn't serve us !

Best chinese we have had in a very long time. Chicken balls best ever. Food was delivered and was very hot it was about miles away. Would recommend this place. Will definitely order again.

Phoned up for some vegan mapo tofu + rice for collection. Was ready very quickly and was delicious! The owner is very friendly - 2 days into a cycle tour and he offered a bottle of water on the house to keep me going. Amazing!

Staff was brilliant and so was the food

Food was delivered quickly and was nice and hot. The spicy chips were not spicy at all but still delicious. The vegetables were fresh and the sauces were tasty.

Wow what a brilliant experiance, food was absolutley spot on really was fantastic, went in to collect and they were very welcoming and polite, even gave me a free bag of prawn crackers 10/10 will 100% be coming back

Ordered delivery, driver was very polite and and apologised for a wait that didn't exist, they were 10 minutes early and the food was amazing, the person on the phone was really polite aswell

Worst chinese I have ever had. Horrible. Sauces were disgusting. Cooked in old oil. Waste of money. Meat tough. Prawns like rubber. Straight in the bin..Place did not look clean. Terrible experience.

Brilliant food, highly recommended the all in one box meals. We thought they'd be quite small so got one each plus a chow mein but they were really well filled, tasty and flavourful. A bargain for how much you get. Wish they did these in our local! Quick and friendly service.

Fantastic chili chips , friendly staff and very quick

As we have just moved into the area we thought we would try this chinese. Not only did they forget to give us the fried rice we ordered and paid for, but the food was vile. I can honestly say it was the worst takeaway we have ever had. I would like to add to this review that the owner liaised with my husband an apologies immensely for our poor experience. He offered us a full refund. I would like to thank the owner very much 😊 and accept the apology.

Absolutely beaitifull dont no what they have done chicken fried rice fresh lots of chicken..chips fresh..would say best chinese around brilliant service.

So according to online and the menu we have we have this restaurant is open, called a few times to then finally get a answer to be told that they are not open so stop calling.

Not tried food from here before as we used another takeaway in town but the food isn’t as good there as it used to be so we changed to New hot food. We weren’t disappointed the food was hot and well presented but above all it was delicious. Certainly found our new take away.

The husband and wife duo cook the VERY BEST food in and around Okehampton, my wife and I would definitely say that this is the best Chinese food we have EVER had. They deserve extremely good reviews for their efforts and we would HIGHLY recommend anyone to check them out for yourself. Absolutely gorgeous food and very nice people 5***** all round..... Great place friendly staff went back twice in one night!!

We have eaten from this take away a number of times. Not the best take away in the world but ok, greasy but ok BUT tonight I had a special chow mein and first of all it seemed to have no flavour but. Half way through I could smell cigarette butts and we don't smoke so not us and I smelt the chow mein and it absolutely stank of ash tray and then all I could taste was cigarette butts! I couldn't wait to brush my teeth as my drink wasn't taking the taste away. Usually ok but very disappointed as I have been looking forward to it as don't have money to waste:(

The owner tried to charge 7.50 for a delivery 10 minutes up the road!! most I ever seen was 4 pound!! soon as we mentioned we was on holiday we mentioned we don’t know the post code they stared acting shady on the phone avoid this place if your on holiday…

First time of going this evening . It will be the last . Curry sauce like jelly and chips were hard and lots of little bits that could break a tooth . My partners house special lacked flavour and minimal meat . Sadly we threw it away after trying to eat what we could as travelled 10 miles to get it . Usually go to chef lin in Torrington but gave hot food a try . I don't like giving bad reviews but I believe in being honest .

Hi everyone, I’m just wondering if anybody has had a delivery from here, and if so, what is the minimum order amount? and can you pay for the food in cash, when it is delivered, or do you have to pay by are when ordering. It would be so helpful if all of this info was listed on a website, along with a chippy full menu and separate full Chinese menu, also with the minimum order amount for delivery. When was this taken over by the new owners, and what is new?

We have had a few meals from here recently and it’s lovely. The food has been delicious and the team could not be more helpful. If you tried them before try them again they have changed and I recommend them

First time using this take away. Shredded chilli beef is lovely, not too spicy leaving a nice zing on the taste buds. BBQ ribs are delicious. Special chow mein also very good. Will definitely use again.

The setting is vile, parts of the counter are falling apart, your feet stick to the floor, it smells like gone off food in there. The people behind the counter are following orders from a bossy ‘manager’ that patronises them in front of customers. Behind the curtain, you can just see dirt and grime. The food is greasy and tasteless. The curry sauce is watery and the fish looks over cooked. Overall, really vile. I have serious concerns.

Best Chinese I've ever had, order like 3 times a week, good flavour well good and like I said Best I've had! I'm a regular customer would definitely recommend box 6 Chinese chickens chow mein and sweet and sour rice. My number 1 place togo

New owners have taken over this Chinese takeaway and there food is absolutely lovely. This is our go-to takeaway Chinese now, especially since they deliver! The dishes are always hot and very tasty. Nothing is too much trouble if you need anything changed. Friendly welcome & service. Highly recommend.

We have come here over the years and found the hygiene has gone downhill steeply. It is dirty, filthy and this in a fast food shop! Your shoes stick to the black carpets, the boxes in food is home delivered are stacked in a corner, all damaged insite and dirty. Need I go on more? Behind the counter there was a unit containing batter gor the fish, which has staines running down that must have been there too long, discoloured. The interior is in need of a hygienic update. Ducktape on the counter is holding things together. Never again will we go there!!!!

We enjoyed a lovely Chinese takeaway from here when staying on a local campsite. Food piping hot even when we got back to the site. Ready at the time they said it would be. Great choice on the menu. We would use again if in the location again.

The staff were first rate, polite and courteous. We ordered ahead and the food was ready on time and hot. All the dishes were delicious. Will come again.

I only went back as I was told the management had changed. Sweet and sour Hong Kong style , Awful . Never again. It's going in the resycle bin . Stick to Wong's in the future

Had fish and chips here recently since the new owners took over and they were amazing! So this evening I ordered a Chinese...... I was not disappointed! They cooked for me Sweet and Sour King Prawn Hong Kong Style and at my request it was made really spicy and it was delicious. I’ll be asking for this again and again!

Got a take away this evening - fish and chips, a cheese burger and a battered jumbo sausage, plus battered mars bars. Kids and I all agree that it was the best take away chip shop meal we've eaten in okehampton! The chips, particularly, are amazing! Really friendly owner too. Definitely going to be our chip shop of choice from now on.

Poor overall. First time to visit. Only take cash! Seriously? With covid? Meal for two with chicken and beef and pork balls. Forgot the curry sauce! Chili chips were just chips with some kind of chili salt on top. Verdict- go somewhere else next time probably, but as new year very little open.

Just had a home delivery worse meal ever chips been recycled about 5 times pork balls would break your teeth stone cold disgusting would never buy from there again

When I say that the best thing is their curry sauce that says it all. Only buy chips if the place is busy - or else half your portion will be tiny bits and rock hard.

Couldn't tell what half the meat was and also tasted like It had been left on side for a day. Chow mein was literally noodles covered in oil. Rice was more edible until i came across what i hoped to be plastic, but was very similarly shaped to a finger nail🤮egg shell scattered throughout rice too.

The worse food iv ever had.. It took over 2 hours to be delivered. The staff was rude and wouldnt take any responsibllity for anything and the delivery guy was disgraceful the way he spoke to my elderly Nana who was annoyed at the long wait .. The food Was Stone cold where it had obviously been sat around( had a 7 year old son in tears because his chicken balls didn't come in order and his BBQ sauce was split open so he was left with plain beef rice!! After a 2 hour wait I could have took it all back but with everyone being hungry and having a newborn baby in the house we had to crack on. We have most of it left as everyine was very fed up.. £50 down the drain.We have gone from using once a month to never using again!!

Have been having my take-away meals from New Hot Food for years, but over the last few months the quality of their food has deteriorated. Last week I ordered Lemon Chicken. The chicken was old, overcooked, and hard. The batter was disgusting - it was stale, hard and bitter.That's enough! I'll be finding somewhere else for my take-aways, there's plenty of competition in Okehampton

Having just travelled from London and arriving late, we decided not to cook at our accomodation and get a take away. Okehampton not being a large town and not having a great choice of take aways, we chose to eat from Hot Food.BIG mistake! It was without doubt the worst Chinese meal we have ever had!! Cold, over cooked, greasy, bland and tasteless. There are no words really available to describe how bad it was and most of it went into the bin, as we could not face the 17 mile trip back from our accomodation to complain.It looks grubby outside, it is grubby inside and the bloke behind the counter could seriously do with a wash. Lastly its over priced by a mile for what we got.In short we should have known better. A piece of advice.. JUST DONT BOTHER!!

Disgusting had wrong order delivered over priced as well then when the food was finally brought back it was cold and the prawns were off they stank and I even tried one to make sure and they were so off and the meat in the special chow mein was off as well. We will never eat from here again

This is one of the worst chinese takeaways i have been to. food was warm, not hot. half the order was missing. it didnt taste all that good either, and its not the first time it has happened. To be honest it was absolute rubbish,. I would never go there again, waste of money. They give good chinky's a bad name. How this takeaway joint has got good feedback, ill never know..
