Crispy chilly chicken with egg fried rice - delicious 🤤 not hot though I’d say it’s on a sweeter and sour side which is what I was hoping for

The food was really good, it did rke a bit longer than said. But we did order for 6 people

Great Chinese takeaway in Tavistock. Extensive menu and to date every dish we have tried is well cooked and full of flavour.

Had a chicken curry which tasted sweet and rubbery chicken. Chips and rice was good, but for the price I expected more

I’ve used many Chinese in my time and this is very good every time compared to others. Recommend as food tastes freshly cooked. Free prawn crackers would be good on orders of £10.

Ordered from here last week I forgot to review, it's not my usual go to I used them as my usual place was shut, The food was amazing it was tasty, hot and the portion sizes were good the only down side is the don't do delivery 🚚 I would say if there food is this good all the time delivery would be a really good idea as tavistock needs more takeaways that deliver.

On holiday here didn’t get half the stuff we ordered! Called up and asked for the missing items we paid for to be delivered and they delivered more wrong items.

On holiday in the area and ordered based on the great reviews. Can honestly say it was the worst Thai green curry I’ve ever had. Poor quality chicken and the Thai green sauce tasted like sugary water. Couldn’t eat it.

We usually use Cantonese Kitchen out of habit but they were closed on this occasion so we used Chung Ying. Food arrived very quickly and was very tasty, only reason I couldn't give 5* is the rice was a bit dry.

Food was delicious and ready on time would certainly recommend this place other review s saying it wasn't good should be ignored because its excellent

We had duck pancakes, satay skewers, crispy beef and Singapore noodles. Sadly, we were very disappointed. The hoisin sauce had been clearly watered down and the pancakes were stuck together and seemed old as did the duck. The satay was so salty it was inedible. Really disappointed as the take away was £26 so fairly expensive. We have used you before but I don’t think we will be using you again.

Tnight 7th of may ordered king prawn omelette, chips, king prawn rendang, mushroom rice, fried veg, veg pancake rolls, crackers. ALL OF IT WAS VILE ALL IT WAS WORTH WAS COMING IN THROUGH THE FRONT DOOR AND THROWING IT STRAIGHT IN THE BIN!! £26!!! I should really take it back but whats the point obviously they dont care about their food and should be ashamed of themselves for calling it chinese. This is an honest review from a hungry man who loves a chinese king prawn omelette!! Gutted. Dont u be.

Excellent. Walked in to order. Staff very pleasant and polite. Food was ready quickly, portion sizes were really good and food tasted excellent. Recommended and will go again whenever I'm in Tavistock.

Whenever we are in Tavy we normally use a different takeaway, but we needed a takeaway one evening as we had been out for the day and didn't feel like cooking. So we went to this one instead. The food was fine, service friendly and quick. No complaints at all.

Have ordered from here quite frequently and have to say the foods tasty , always ready promptly and the staff are pleasant , a lot more than can be said for the other take aways in the same street !! Would recommend eating here

Can't tell you what it's like they don't take cards may be its time for for a card or even paypal. Must be due to tax purposes.

Great food when we stayed in Tavistock, we went one evening as we didn't want to eat in the hotel and just fancied a Chinese takeaway. Didn't disappoint!

The staff were unable to give details of what was contained in the food. We asked about alergies and the starters were coated in wheat and dairy containing batter. The rice was undercooked and not edible. All the food looked and tasted like it had been bought frozen and heated up in a microwave. Absolutely vile. So bad that even our pets wouldn't touch it. We have had better experiences in the past here. This was the worsed we have ever had from Chung Ying. We did try to ring up this morning twice to complain, but no-one answered the phone.

Ordered a takeaway from here, had chips, curry & chicken balls, the chips were nice but we were disappointed with the curry! The meat was really watery and mushy and didn’t taste of an awful lot! The chicken balls looked really over cooked but actually tasted nice, not the worst Chinese we’ve had but would not re-visit.

A Very clean & friendly place , I had to order some food for my veggie girlfriend & they had more choice than I thought they would have ! We were both very happy with what we ordered the food was brilliant . I'd like to say a big thank you to the kitchen staff the food was amazing

I arrived in Tavistock late evening, starving. I tried this place, it looks a dump but I was short on options, the fish and chip shop opposite told me it was closed, despite me standing there for 5 minutes in a queue. back to this place; I ordered special fried rice, king po beef and sweet and sour pork. It arrived in a couple of minutes - hurrah (I thought)! The beef were tiny shreds of beef coated in something akin to crispy caramel and badly overcooked. The pork pieces were cheap and inedible, the batter was not cooked through, the sauce, in a separate pot was an orange gelatinous mess. It tasted of nothing but chemicals. The rice wasn't special... the total was over £13. Avoid at all costs.

Food was very good and reasonable priced

Ordered a takeaway and told to collect at 7pm. Turned up in good time only to be told that it would be another 20 minutes. That really isn't good enough. A few minutes either way would have been no problem. Having said that the food is very good and the variety in the menu is excellent. Pity also that cash is the only means of payment. Debit cards ought to be accepted in this day and age.

If my memory serves me right this place has been going for about 45 years, the only place I go to if I want great food, smashing stuff indeed, would I use again, hell yeah, after 45 years of service to the town that speakes volumes.

First and last time. The wait was over an hour, there were no apologies. Longest I've ever had to wait for a takeaway. The food was definitely not worth waiting for.

had a lovely meal with our friends and we came in and the food was very tasty and was very fast getting our order together.would recommend to other, dishes are full and a lot cheaper than elsewhere.

The black bean and sizzling beef dish is good, service is fine, can take a while if popping in after the pub, the tv can help time go by

Every Thursday evening I have a special foo Young and chips I have been having this for years. Every Saturday night my husband and I have a meal from there have been for many years. The staff are very very friendly and the service is great.

Always use this Chinese now as it's the best tasting food and great value for money! Only downside to this is they don't offer a delivery service and you must pay in cash so we always have to make a detour to a cash point, but again the food and the prompt cooking and friendly staff make up for all that!.

I have used this takeout a few times and it is good food. It's not award winning, it's typical takeout fare but I find it tasty and a good variety. They offer a few beancurd options for vegetarians which many places don't and the satay beancurd is really tasty. My husband rates the battered chicken as you get large portions of chicken breast which look decent quality rather than reformed meat. Service is quick and staff are friendly. There's always some newspapers to browse and a TV on while you wait. One con to note is that they don't have a card machine so bring cash! There are cash points a short walk away. There is parking outside easier after 6pm as you can park on the single yellow line outside. They don't deliver but you can phone in orders to collect,.

Friendly and helpful staff. Well written and varied menu without becoming a book as so many are..Cooked fresh and hot and generally very good.The egg fried rice was a bit mean with the egg but the chow mein was good.Pancake rolls lovely.I will go again especially as the wait was an acceptable 15 minutes.

Very very disappointed with the takeaway we ordered last Saturday evening,everthing and I mean everything seemed to have been cooked earlier in the day and then kept warm which resulted in all our order being dry and mostly inedible,there was hardly any beef in the beef dish and what there was was very tough,the chicken was tastless, the soy sauce was so salty that it was unhealthy and the chips were awfull they must have been warmed through straight from the freezer.Avoid this place as there are better takeaways in the Tavistock area.

Despite living in the area for 10 years we have never had a takeaway from this Chinese. Last night we ordered 3 dishes and 3 egg fried rice. The rice had barely any egg and was overcooked and definitely not fresh. Ordered king prawn chow mein which was slightly burnt, saturated with soy sauce so really salty; ate the prawns but nothing else. The sauce in the Rendang chicken was thin and had lots of pineapple in and green pepper; pineapple is not an ingredient synonymous with this dish and rightly so as it tasted awful. The last dish was sweet and sour chicken and I was asked if I wanted the chicken battered or not when ordering - I chose not battered but when I got home found it was battered! Whilst that wasn't a huge problem, the fact that it had the rubbery consistency of overcooked squid was a problem.On the plus side - nice friendly staff and owner and tasty complimentary prawn crackers. Sadly that isn't enough to make us return for another takeaway!
