Nice friendly little pub , they are only open in the evenings now i believe but it’s still early in the season . we were staying in the caravan park down the road so was just perfect for us . when we arrived we had a lovely welcome landlord and landlady both lovely . We ordered some food and drinks all were very nice , not cloudy as previously mentioned on here . yes the pub is a little dated but it’s an old pub . we went on a friday evening and the car pack was packed so it can’t be that bad as previous review stated !! !! will definatly return .

Terrible. The young lady behind the bar was welcoming, but the beer, two different beers, was cloudy and tasted stale. The food was mediocre at best, and my game pie looked as though it had been kept under a hot plate since yesterday. Both the pie and the mashed potato were so dry, and a lot of the meat was burnt black. No vegetables at all. I should have sent it back when it came out, but I thought that it couldn't be that bad - it was.

Just want to leave a review as I previously checked trip advisor if they did gluten free options, someone said they did in 2022. They do do not- other than jacket potato. Just hopefully helping someone out in the future if it’s a food requirement. Apart from this, it’s a cute pub. Staff were very friendly and helpful! The food was absolutely delicious for us gluten monsters.

Me and my partner went last Sunday after a very long walk and decided we would go here for a roast. The food was absolutely lovely, and they gave generous servings. We both left with a full belly! They had gluten free options as well! Staff were really wonderful too. The farm shop is a lovely touch, as was the fresh milk machine that is there at the moment. I don't normally do reviews, but I couldn't not for here. Great experience :)

Tired looking pub with friendly staff. Food was tasteless and very basic. The meat in the game pie was dry and tasteless. The chips were dry and the coleslaw was horrible.

We have been in here a few times and always found a great welcome. The pub is within easy walking distance of woodovis park and well worth a visit if staying. Sunday lunch is superb choice of meats and loads of veg. Recommend booking as can be busy. Fresh milk or milkshakes can be purchased outside. Also a farm shop. Lovely owners and staff.

Great little pub - massive and delicious portions for the Sunday carvery. Decent prices on ales and super friendly staff. Rivers in particular is lovely and goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome. Well worth a visit!

A party of seven for a birthday celebration. Very disappointing. One order missing, a lasagne that was burnt at the edges, missing coleslaw from a meal, a steak that was ordered medium and was very well done. Two tagliatellis that were tasteless and two side orders of garlic bread for £3 which consisted of two small slices. The worst meal was a burger, for a four year old, which was raw in the middle. The waitress was told and they didn't charge for the child's meal. Wouldn't go there again.

Visited here as a family of two adults and two kids. Booked a table on Thursday night but were the only people int he restaurant. The barmaid was friendly and accommodating. The restaurant area was a traditional pub set up. There were a lot of cobwebs and a slight sticky feel to the table. The food was traditional pub grub. Two steaks cooked well, a kids meal and a lasagne. Chips were home made which was nice. Side order of garlic bread was £4 or so and consisted of two pieces of a garlic baguette. The deserts were average but again pricey. Total cost of the meal of three mains, a kids meal, and 2 desserts with drinks was £97. I like supporting Free Houses but won't be ripped off.

Bit of an odd atmosphere in the pub, not helped when the owner and waitress at the carvery station started arguing in front of us. My eldest daughter is a vegetarian so she was given a plate of veggies but we weren’t offered the meat that she would have had (I had paid the full price for a small carvery). Admittedly I had forgotten to ask, but thought they would have offered the meat to us, as an act of hospitality. I had also paid for my partner to have a large carvery, but the amount of meat he was given and the plate size was exactly the same as my medium carvery, if not a little bit less which was odd (he did tell the owner serving him that he had ordered a large carvery). We went to sit down feeling a little disgruntled and ate our food which was delicious except for the Yorkshire puds which were burnt on the outside. My partner was going to go back to ask for more meat/veg as he wasn’t happy with the portion, however the atmosphere was so moody that we just ate up quickly and left. Even the owners wife had commented how quiet everyone was (even the table behind us seemed annoyed about something). We definitely didn’t feel we got value for money, and not sure if we’d return again.

A traditional British pub. An absolutely delicious meal that was cooked fresh. The atmosphere was 5/5 ( a traditional British Pub). I visited today for an evening meal. I would 100% recommend. Walked in and asked have you a table for 2 the owner laughed and said sit anywhere !No specials on the board ! Menu very basic ! Ordered burger and chips , lasagna and chips and cheesy garlic bread ! The chips were shocking ! Stale and very hard ! The burger was rare in the middle and the lasagna was burnt and hard around the edges ! Ping ping ding !! The staff also were running around the place with water guns !!! Really !!!! The girl who served us was polite but not really bothered that the food was shocking and most of it left on the plate ! Before we received our food we did enquire regarding the Sunday lunch ! Upon leaving the staff member did say if you are coming for Sunday lunch come early as the food stays in the hot plates all day !!! WHAT !!! Avoid at all cost !! Needs shutting down and someone that actually cares about his venue to take over !!!

We went for Sunday lunch with our toddler and dog. The girls working behind the bar were super helpful and great with our daughter. The Sunday lunch was home cooked, and just delicious can’t fault it, there was a choice of 3 meats and A really good pint of ale too! Wasn't adhering to the covid social distancing with people congregating at the bar, we booked a table and they put us on a table right next to the bar (where people was brushing up against us) . I didn't see them take people's names and phone numbers for the track and trace covid programme.Waited well over a hour for our meal (which wasn't very nice).I ordered a curry but for some reason it was coated in curry powder over the top of meal and the plate and popadom. 2 other tables complained that their steak and burgers weren't cooked properly.They didn't understand how the government Eat Out scheme works (so they were over charging lots of guests). We stumbled on this pub when the diversion was in place and were very glad we did! Having made some purchases at the farm shop, we decided to try the carvery in the Copper Penny Inn. We both agree that it is the best roast around and the most reasonable price for what you get. The potatoes are cooked in beef fat, the 3 different choices of meats are all tasty and tender (you can have some of each!), the Yorkshire puds are home made - in fact there is nothing that we can find fault with - except we have no room for the puddings which look so delicious also! The owners and regulars are friendly too. Keep up the good work!

Hemos estado aquí varias veces a lo largo de los años y no ha cambiado mucho mucho - la comida esta vez estaba muy bien preparado, demasiado generosas porciones de ensalada de caballa y tenía dos grandes toda la caballa apareció con un lado de ensalada patatas eran bastante buenos, realmente muy bien preparado, pero uno habría sido adecuado. Otras tenían frittata, lasaña y curry y despejaron los platos pero de nuevo porciones enormes. Esperamos un rato para la comida, el interior no había demasiada gente, pero había una noche de música en el granero y que parecía estar muy lleno de la cantidad si los coches en el aparcamiento. Mi marido y yo nos detuvimos para tomar una copa un viernes por la noche ya que nos quedamos en una casa local y espera que éste podría ser un 'local' para nosotros durante nuestra visita y también comer allí. El barman femenino parecía amable, pero sin duda nos sentimos como molestando a un sólo tipo "locales" de pub. Tres muchachos sentados en el bar se miraban a nosotros, así que le sonreí blankly en forma amable sólo para ser recibidos con caras... bastante sorprendente cuando huraño me enteré de que uno de ellos era el dueño! Cuando pedí un azul increíble, el barman no sabían que tenían alguna, pero el propietario (aún sentarse en el bar) dice que había algunos en la bodega y volvería a ir y conseguirlo. Cuando se la trajo, yo le agradeció, pero aun así no compromiso con nosotros. Nos dijo 'adiós' cuando nos fuimos, pero no dan una respuesta. Nos fuimos después de sólo una bebida sensación bastante decepcionados. No puedo comentar sobre la comida porque no comimos allí; honestamente, no nos apetecía, ya que el pub parecía bastante sucio y toda la experiencia fue bastante desagradable. Una pena, si el pub había sido un poco más limpio y el ambiente un poco más agradable, quizás hubiera sido una experiencia diferente.

We were staying at a campsite along the road and decided to walk to the inn for dinner. We had a delicious 3 course meal with drinks. The menu was really good with plenty to choose from and the service was good.

Alojarse en un parque cerca de caravanas y esta a una corta distancia a pie. No hay muchos personal de guardia pero no tuvimos que esperar mucho y fueron muy amables. Incluye un menú grande bastante especiales. Porciones de buen tamaño y agradable 'comida de pub. Sin duda volvería de nuevo si se quedan cerca.

Was a quiet Saturday afternoon and popped in for a quick lunch as we had been walking locally, staff were a little on the rude side i thought, asked for a hot chocolate for my wife and looked like i had asked for something completely alien but the food was good servied in a good time and the jail ale i had was ok not overly fresh though i didnt think. will stop here again when walking in the area for sure as it was very good value for money.

Cuando yo era mucho más jóvenes que solía venir aquí en ocasiones de Plymouth y creo que se llamaba por aquel entonces la Chipshop Inn. No sé cuando cambió el antiguo nombre pero tenían vínculos con la minería del estaño donde muchos de los mineros recibieron un trozo de su pago en 'las fichas de chip que sólo se podía pasar en pocos lugares. Hoy en día, aunque parece como si el negocio para grandes números era más bien vacío. Me da la impresión de que en verano se convierte en folk de un sitio cercano de vacaciones. En esta época del año en la que yo no lo recomendaría como algo más que un pub tranquilo y aislado, ni siquiera en un pueblo o aldea.

Vinieron a Gulworthy hoy y pensamos que nos podría probar este pub. Ligeramente esquema confundido porque éramos conscientes de la 'centavo de cobre Inn' que se encuentra en la misma zona está cerca. ¿Tiene el cobre hervidor existir? El nombre suena más apropiado para una antigua o té compras!

Beautiful countryside, a good location for a really traditional country pub. We met friends staying on Woodovis campsite & enjoyed eating here two days running. Local food, venison & pheasant were both on specials board, reasonably priced, greatly enjoyed. We will return, highly recommend.

Visitamos como una mesa de 5 personas (4 adultos y un niño) para celebrar el cumpleaños de mi padre. A la llegada nos mostraron una selección de mesas y bebidas ofrecidos. Tuvimos que pedir menús como la camarera había olvidado (que era comprensible ya que el bar estaba impresionado con los clientes). Nos comimos los aperitivos y platos principales. Para empezar, teníamos un poco de pan de ajo, la sopa del día (que era muy agradables), la pate y langostinos tigre. Esperamos 40 minutos para llegar a ellos, el restaurante estaba fría, mi madre ha mantenido su abrigo para toda la noche. Los aperitivos no eran muy buenos, no cabe duda de que no vale la pena la espera. Después de nuestros entrantes, esperamos otra media hora para las comidas principales, que fueron horribles. Los dos platos tardó más de tres horas y la comida no era buena. No recomendaría o comer allí, aunque no me puedo quejar del los camareros, que era muy agradable y acogedor durante toda la noche.

Este fue nuestro primer aniversario de boda, así que pensamos que ya que nos quedamos en Woodovis por la carretera sin celebrar y tienen una comida muy buena... Mi esposo bistec era muy agradable, sin embargo la mía estaba llena de grasa y cartílago. el resto de la comida estaba bien y el postre muy agradable. No me pareció que podía quejarse como la gente era escuchar cada palabra que se ha dicho en las conversaciones entre sus. Al llegar a Woodovis que nos dimos cuenta de que también se habían cobraron de más de £5+, porque ya habíamos pagado por nuestras bebidas antes de nuestra comida pero eran más nuevo a nuestra cuenta. Como teníamos hasta allí y mi esposa paseos con un palo pensamos que está demasiado lejos como para ir andando y también no sabíamos hasta entonces y no nos parece que nos podíamos regresar y consultar la factura después de salir. Al día siguiente tuvimos un bistec en Wetherspoons en Tavistock, que era mucho mejor que la comida aquí... muy decepcionado.

El pub quedaron en silencio cuando los turistas entramos, en moda Tumbleweed típico. Los vasos estaba nublado y rayados. El restaurante estaba vacío y un poco cansado. La comida era bastante lento en llegar pero el tamaño de las porciones eran buenas. Las comidas eran extraordinariamente caliente, en una especie de manera nuclear. Pub grub media que podría ser mejor.

Buen servicio pero con una comida mediocre. Visitamos un viernes por la noche y terminó sensación insuficiente. El servicio de las dos chicas detrás del bar estaba muy bien y había un menú decente y ofertas especiales. Por desgracia mi lasaña fue obviamente recalentadas durante demasiado tiempo y el pescado de mi esposa y patatas fritas estaban bien, pero nada más que eso. 24 libras más pobres y no es probable que regrese.

The food was lovely with items not normally seen on menu's, i think it could possibly do with a face lift as the toilets are outside and thing are just a bit dated

A family visit for evening meal. Everything home cooked. A bit of a wait. But the food was good. Be hungry, the portions are quite large. Will definitely eat here again if we're down this way.

Mi familia y yo incluida mi nieta 17 meses comimos aquí 3 noches durante nuestra estancia en Woodovis Park y tuvimos tres muy buenas comidas. El personal y la gente es muy amable, el vino de Shiraz era estupenda y un montón de opciones de cerveza para los hombres! Estoy de acuerdo con el comentario anterior reviewee, no es sofisticado por dentro, pero tiene un encanto, la comida era honesto y caliente y los bistecs eran particularmente bien preparado para nosotros, que era muy buena relación calidad-precio y se sentía muy relajado, lo cual cuando tienes un niño pequeño con lo que hace falta para una mejor noche!! En general, nos lo pasamos muy bien, gracias.

Un poco descuidado en apariencia, pero francamente, me pareció que era parte del encanto. Nuestra familia de 6 adultos y un niño tenía dos comidas de la noche aquí, y nadie me decepcionó. Un montón de cervezas ( tuve joya (baño cervezas) y Pheasant Plucker) y una buena selección de comida, que tenía un muy buen hígado y bacon+puré y una fuente de pollo. No hay postre primera noche y una muy bien presentado tabla de quesos ( ~ £5) la segunda noche. También jugamos al skittles después. En general, una muy buena relación calidad-precio y un agradable personal y el personal de la zona.

Dropped in here for a late lunch (2.20pm) whilst touring around on a wet and dreary day....just made it before the chef stopped doing lunch.......if only we'd been 10mins later we might have been spared a spectacularly bad pub lunch!

Not much character in the restaurant. Feels a bit like eating in someone's front room. The food is okay....my game pie was full of meat,but the mashed potato was weird...tasted of vinegar. I can only give the Copper Penny an average rating.

Hemos estado aquí varias veces y siempre disfrutar. Las cosas como tarta de juegos y otras cosas interesantes en el menú. Hay una zona tradicional de pub y una zona más inteligente de restaurante, pero se puede comer en cualquiera de ellas. Cómodas sillas, así que te puedes sentar durante toda la noche.

El pub es anticuada y necesita una renovación, el comedor parece de los años 70 y aunque limpias, no muy elección entorno.

Saturday lunch with my wife, mother in law and her elderly sister. Excellent meals with all fresh ingredients from local producers a good range of ales, perfect portion size. Friendly helpful staff.

Tuvimos una cena maravillosa aquí 4 adultos y 3 niños menores de 6 años. Nos fueron rechazadas por un pub al final de la carretera, ya que no se permiten niños y así que vine aquí y nos alegramos de haberlo hecho! Conocido por el personal complaciente personal que eran muy mucho "niños". Las comidas eran encantadores y nada era demasiado problema. Sin duda volveremos en nuestra próxima visita!

Well cooked food, not far from Woodovis Park, nice walk/bike ride from the park, friendly landlord & staff, lovely atmosphere. Children are made very welcome

Este pub es locales como vienen ... donde todo el bar se convierte en torno al entrar. Nos alojamos en camping local y queríamos algo rápido para comer. Decoración un poco anticuada, pero la comida era fabulosa, teníamos pollo envuelto en tocino con salsa de crema. Un montón de opciones locales de bebida y a precios razonables.

Was ok busy pub food was ok and not far from campsite. Best to book in advance as we waited for over an hour for food. Lesson learnt book 1st

The farm shop was very poor with poor quality produce and not very much selection. I could have held a better sale from my fridge at home

Tenía el curry para el almuerzo o así que pensé. En realidad lo que me dieron fue terrible y beared no se parecía a cualquier curry que tenía en el pasado. El poppadom estaba pasada y comestible, el curry estaba hecha de lo que podría ser clasificados como salidas a el congelador y consistía mayormente de guisantes congelados. El arroz era simplemente un trozo de gunge sobre cocido. Me dio vergüenza que decir algo en frente de mi colega así llamado más tarde, sólo para ser recibidos con silencio en el otro lado del teléfono y cuando la persona finalmente hablaba cuando apareció me recibieron con un entretenido si estás tono patronising_nus, surpressing risas. Me voy a quedar muy sorprendido si este pub es todavía de negocios en 12 mo.nths tiempo!!

Reservamos este restaurante después de pasar la noche de camino a nuestra cabaña en Milton Abbott. El servicio, la comida y por la tarde entera era encantador. Éramos un grupo de 8 adultos y 6 niños y toda nuestra comida era muy bien cocinados, presentada y fue muy calientes. No me puedo quejar x

Called in for lunch today. Very nice food ,service was good and very attentive. This is a real pub! Not gastro and certainly not fancy. A good traditional pub with hearty food, clean and country pub presentable. Farm shop was good too!
